Thinking of you miniandme...please pass on my best wishes and thoughts jambuttie.

93pjb · 26/11/2007 15:48

Miniandme - thinking of you all. Can't imagine how difficult it must be especially with worrying about other dc as well.

Makes all my impatience seem very silly indeed.

There's a whole lot of big fat pregnant ladies here sending virtual hugs and best wishes your way.

Jambuttie · 26/11/2007 16:13

Hi

miniandme comfortable but still contracting at the mo bless her

Know what you mean by scary time- my twins arrived at 29 weeks and they will be 4 in January. She is in the best place at the mo just wish and hope that they wee ones hold tight and bake a wee bit more.

I have her other DC at the mo so thats 1 less thing for her to worry about for now

will continue to update you all as info comes in

xx

violeta · 26/11/2007 17:05

Gosh...

All my very best wishes to miniandme. Thinking of you and your family.

Miniandme - thinking of you.

Gill and countto10. I feel better now i know i'm not alone. Thanks for opening up. It doesn't help that my aunt lost a baby at six months due to EB in 1980 (a blistering disease). (She now has two healthy grown-up children). I find it a bit hard not to worry about the unexpected. My aunt had no warning that her child was ill until she was born. Mind you - it is a rare disease.

Gill - yup - we will spend most of our time worrying about LO. I guess we its just a matter of learning to deal with it as being part of being a parent.

You're right - we do have a lot to lose. (i only got married in February and still have to change my bank details into my married name!). I guess its all part of becoming a mother - it's a new role with a new way of thinking.

I think i probably feel a bit low cos DH is away until Weds on business. He went yesterday morning. I just feel vulnerable by myself. Not in terms of burglurs (how do you spell it!), more in terms of what if something happens to me or the baby.

LOVEMYMUM · 26/11/2007 18:30

Hi Ruva. You seem fed up. Probably doesn't help that you have placenta previa. How do you feel about that?

My DH can be a bit like that as well - only sees what he wants to. It took him a long while to understand that a baby needs a cot, changing mat, bath etc. He understands now. I think it also took a while to sink in that we are having a baby.

Maybe the relationship with your MIL will change now that you are pregnant. My MIL doesn't speak English and we have to communicate through other family members but now that I'm pregnant we have a closer bond. (I even call her Mummy and mean it!) I know i'm lucky in this respect.

The main thing is, you have placenta previa. Is there a possibility you may be taken into hospital early? In which case, ask DH who is available to get things ready if you are in hospital. Make him think.

Keep talking to us on mumsnet - it's a fantastic place to talk about our feelings. I'm convinced mumsnet has helped my blood pressure to go down cos i feel supported.

beansprout · 26/11/2007 19:09

Best wishes to miniandme

Welcome ruva - I was more anxious about money in my last pregnancy than everything else put together, I think it's very normal. Have you worked out a budget so dh can see what you can and can't afford?

rozzyraspberry · 26/11/2007 19:21

Oh my goodness miniandme - good luckxxx

tyaca · 26/11/2007 20:18

Jambuttie thanks for letting us know about miniandme, what a good friend you are

Let her know that we're all thinking about her and all her family, and sending BIG hugs.

Lucyand2 · 27/11/2007 10:28

Just stumbled across this thread, I was wondering why the other thread had gone quiet!
Good luck to Miniandme, will be waiting impatiently for news.
Hello Ispy, 4th feb is going to a fun day for us! And hello ruva, money can be so annoying when it comes to getting baby stuff. We're applying for the maternity grant to get the big things needed for DD2, do you know if you qualify? Freecycle can also be a handy place to pick up free baby stuff as I gave away all my unwanted baby stuff on there and I see people giving stuff away all the time.
My midwife just cancelled my appointment so I'll be having my 28 week appt at 30 weeks, a bit disapointing as I was worrying about needing a GTT. I'v been feeling dreadful over the weekend for no apparent reason, I can barely eat and I nearly passed out when shopping yesterday.
When changing a spectacularly smelly DD1 in town at the weekend DP heard 2 ladies come out of the toilet complaining about me! They said I'd made the toilet smell of poo and that I obviously couldn't do my laundry as DD's vest wasn't white! It made me laugh to think people can be so pathetic

CountTo10 · 27/11/2007 11:08

Aren't people odd!!! I wouldn't know if a vest was bright white or not!!! And count yourself lucky - when ds did that to me once I had to cart him to mothercare to find I had no new clothes and had to buy some instore much to the shock of the staff that I didn't have anything with me!!! You;d think they'd be grateful for the sale!!!
Hoping minime is ok. I was telling dp last night and his eyes were a little out on stalks. He gets a bit nervous about things like that!!
On the money side - NCT sales can be quite good for picking things up as well - as can ebay depending on what you're after.

Jo9977 · 27/11/2007 12:43

Thanks for the update jambuttie...really thinking of them all and hope they hang on for a little while longer yet.

What language does your MIL speak lovemymum? That must get annoying. Still, I suppose it's better than having some of the comments from my italian MIL I had from the weekend...not having our baby baptised catholic means it's said he's devil child (he will be brought up a Christian and free to make his own decision when he's older and that's that), being questioned as to whether I like my stepdad (she obviously doesn't) and what will my mum do when she comes over at Christmas (implying that she doesn't think she will lift a finger which is my business not hers )

Gill79 · 27/11/2007 13:11

Mine away on business too Lovemymum! Get a bit nervous on my own at night but guess very soon I'll have to stop that and start being grown-up. I'm going to try some DIY while he's away - have even bought a thingy to stop me drilling into electric cables Wish me luck! Got my 30 week appointment this afternoon - looking forward to more production-line stuff, in and out without a hello or goodbye last time!

LOL Lucyand2 and Jo9977 - good luck with your devil child

ruva · 27/11/2007 13:19

Hi ladies,
Lots of shining lights to miniandme and the twins.
I don't qualify for a maternity grant-its just that we are stretched maybe for the next six months just moved house, left my job due to ivf- which i had to pay for as the waiting list was two years- lucky got a refund for a spontaneous pregnancy could not go back to work as company did not want a preggie person.
On a lighter note I have decided to baptise ds when he is born in the river thames by kew bridge next to the pub- As was victimised in a convent by nuns-i know it won't sit well with mil she is irish. Bless her she hates me but as dh says even if i was irish she would still hate me. Oh i do winhge sorry!

caramelchewchew · 27/11/2007 13:43

I also was telling DH about miniandme last night and he was shocked. Guess he'd never even thought about a pre-christmas baby. He was extra thoughtful all evening though after that.
Fingers crossed all ok with them.

Just realised I never added myself on the due date list either. Coupled with a sneaky name change as I'm no longer so much excited but getting more and more worried as that due date comes nearer!! More ice cream seems the only solution!

UPDATE ON MINI AND ME!!!!

Hi just a wee note to say she is doing well. Contractions stopped and no more loss off water- phew!!! Babies still baking away nicely in there thankfully

afternoon fellow zombies,

Lucyand2 - Even though your midwife cancelled, if you're worried about anything call her and talk to her about it and I'm sure she'll point you in the right direction if something needs to been looked into before you next see her. lol at the small minded people you offended at the weekend, like you don't expect a smell of excrement in a public bog, from a nappy or otherwise! And is it any business of theirs how you wash your whites anyway?

Jo - I'm having a devilchild too! My mom rediscovered church about 15 years ago. when she first found out I was pg she was devistated as I'm not married. She then went on to ask if I was having the child christened! My reply was simple... "Oh, I didn't know bastards could be christened!" She never got me christened either so I went on to call her a hypocrite! A little later I thought of a compramise and asked her what here thoughts were on a humanist naming ceremony or alternatively DP could baptise the child as he was ordained on the internet! Needless to say, she wasn't impressed with either idea and the subject hasn't been raised since!

Gill - good luck with the DIY, don't over do it. and good luck with the check up. I'm not getting a 30wk one, I'm jealous!

ruva - hello and welcome, I don't think I picked up on the fact that you were new to us before! We don't qualify for the maternity grant either as my poor fella works too many hours and his pathetic paycheque is too big (so big, infact, that the highest mortgage we could possibly get might pay for a large garden shed/summerhouse but wouldn't even pay for the extension my mom just had built on her house!) Congratulations on the housemove, I know it's a big stresser and is helping to gobble up huge amounts of your cash but it still must be exciting. And big congrats on the spontaneous pregnancy too!

Don't stress too much about the money for baby stuff issue people. In reality babies don't need all that stuff the stores and mags make you think they do. Your baby would be just as happy, at least for the first 3 months, with a sling and a bottom drawer as they would with the latest, all singing, all dancing pushchair/pram and a cotbed fit for a prince with a matching wardrobe and changing unit. Think about the minimum you can get away with and try to afford that then you can look at the things you want your baby to have and work towards aquiring those. Oh and as we're all due in Feb, get people to give you money/vouchers/buy you babystuff from a specific list for xmas, I mean would you really miss that big tin of roses chocolates from aunt maude if she brought you a bale of nappies or two cellular blankets instead!
