Hiya ladies,
Thought I'd start the new thread, hope you like the title! Best I could come up with I'm afraid!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
widgetsmummy · 07/01/2008 12:44

hello all!

afraid I fall into the fed up camp at the moment, up every 2 hours last night with heartburn, it really is beginning to drive me crazy. Was so miserbale I picked a fight with DH about whether an epidural is pain relief or an anesthetic... semantics and really stupid but I was so grumpy! I did manage to apologise later in the evening

hugs to everyone feeling rubbish and little jigs for all the excited ones!

As for thread titles:
Due Feb 08 - how long can Jan last????!!!!

MERLYPUSS · 07/01/2008 12:48

I have no energy to 'nest'. It's as much as I can do to walk upstairs without getting puffed out. As for the 2 hourly wee breaks in the middle of the night I could seriously do without that. It's only when I have got up for the loo that I realise I feel sick, have a tight belly, am too hot etc and can't fall asleep for another hour and a half. Then back to the loo again. Grrrr. Had a dream last night that I went for a normal check up at hosp and they kept me in so I will get my arse in gear and pack a hossy bag to take as I have another check on Monday and the last 3 times I have had ketones and protein in my wee and swollen feet. Also the itching has kicked in. Not scary like soles of feet but all over. Anyone else suffering ?

Lucyand2 · 07/01/2008 12:50

Hello to all the new people! (I wrote newborn people first, I think my brains have melted )
I'm firmly in the not sleeping camp and although i'd rather we all got to sleep it is reassuring to know I'm not the only one.
Just had my midwifes visit as I'm 36 weeks today and baby is ENGAGED!! I can't begin to say how relieved I am that it could happen from anytime onwards as I am fed up of being a whale. My midwife is concerned about my back as my stomach muscles have completely gone and it is causing problems in my shoulders despite sleeping upright on pillows. I'm past caring!
Bought my double buggy at the weekend and it starting to feel even more real now! Very exciting

LOVEMYMUM · 07/01/2008 14:02

Merly - the ketones may be from lack of sleep. I had ketones in my urine a few weeks ago and they went after a good sleep and a feed.

I also go from having energy to being tired.

ruva · 07/01/2008 14:02

Hi all ladies,
dh has finally gone back to work, as he had taken off few days to paint the nursery, he put stripes and i told him it was too busy and looked like a prison, i wanted a safari theme, poor man all i could do was nag him, when i cried that i was fed up he told me i had to toughen up (shocked face) my whole body is out of sync and miss my family since moving to this area i only see oaps am tempeted to join a religous sect just to have someone in my house for tea.
anyone in west london please come and rescue me!

Gill79 · 07/01/2008 14:04

Hi everyone

Egg - don't be daft - your state of confusion made me smile.

Sarah - Not really had any BHs either - does get tight but lasts for ages.

Mini - sounds like a nightmare. Hope they're here soon!

Hello new people too.....

Pk - had a bit of a blitz in the house as well - unfortunately nothing sensible like you but instead some heavy gardening and then skirting board painting (including one fun bit when I squeezed myself under the bathroom sink). WHY??? Have now properly crippled myself, lower back absolutely fd and can only take teeny tiny steps. Idiot .

Have hit the baby aisle in Sainbury's in a random and panicky way but have now got nappies, a couple of bottles and a breast pump - luckily they only had one sort so just got that one - it's the Aventi Manual one. No-one tell me it's rubbish please. Also packed hospital bag, but feeling a bit clueless really! Feel like someone's going to tell me off for not putting the right baby clothes in or something.

Babysat at the weekend, with a minor success since DP who has no confidence with babies (always makes them cry ) managed to get a screaming baby to sleep on his chest - he was so pleased. That was after it took two of us to undress him and hold him down to change his nappy though. (The baby's nappy not DP's ).

Fed-Up February Fatties Facing the Final Furlong

(time to get back to work I think!)

Egg · 07/01/2008 14:47

I had (still have) the Avent Manual Pump Gill last time and it was fine. It is slower than an electric one but I never thought of changing it, unless you have to express round the clock it will be fine.

I was recommended the Ameda Lactaline Duo Electric one this time, if you are having to express for twins. Have been told it is by far and away the best one, and you can hire them. Am waiting til babies are born to see what happens, I have the manual one in an emergency.

Am completely wasting an entirely free day with DS at nursery all day. Have been home since 10:30am and got nothing done.

Stomach seems to be improving.

Pk616 · 07/01/2008 15:16

I'm back from the supermarket now, well I guess thats obviuous!
I spent twice, neigh thrice, what I intended to but I had fun I've come home with some more hospital bag supplies, the unimportant stuff like dried fruit, nuts, small cartons of fruit juice, travel sized shampoo and flannels - DP wanted some new ones anyway (there's much much more but the list would be too long!)
Gill - getting under the sink, ya nutter! I hope your self inflicted injuries improve soon! I will be glossing the skirting in the bathroom myself later though! I figured that if I lie on my right side on an old towel it souldn't bee too hard a task or cause too much damage to me! DP's banned me from touching the garden though. I asked him if that meant he was going to do it instead to which all I got was a look which seemed to indicate he thought I was out of my tiny mind!! I don't think anybody's going to say anything bad about the contents of your hospital bag. there can't be a single scatty brained pregnant woman out there who can pack a hospital bag and get it spot on right! we're all going to have too much of what we don't need and not enough of what we do, even the experienced ladies out there! you've packed a bag and believe me that's more than a lot of ladies manage before their lo's arrive. I remember my mate went in for a check up and was told she was 3cms dilated and they were keeping her in. she sent me and her flustered husband back home with a half cocked, very non specific list of what she wanted. Needless to say our combined efforts were nowhere near the telepathic standard her labouring brain expected and I was sent back on my own with more rubbish instructions four more times until she was satisfied! It's her own fault, she was 34 weeks gone and had been contracting for something like 3 days at that point. She just thought it was BH and ignored it instead of packing her own bag 'just incase'. The poor lass laboured for a further week before the hospital was kind enough to give her an emergency C-section! But I digress!
Ruva - sorry your local is sadly lacking and you've been experiencing a few too many emotions. I do think your DP was a tad insensitive. I know what he means but... you know what I'm saying. I hope you feel happier soon, ooh and don't worry about a 'busy' nursery, It might be too much for your tastes but once your LO can focus that far away I'm sure the stripes will give the baby something good to gaze at, babies like contrast after all!
Nonsleepers - I don't really sleep either, but I've kind of gotten used to it so it doesn't really bother me anymore. I think I've learnt to 'power nap'!
Lucy - your entire trunk section sounds like it's in a bit of a state lass, sending my sympathies, on the up side you can't possibly be under the strain for all that much longer! Just take it easy lass!
Thread titles - I like Gills suggestion
"Fed-Up February Fatties Facing the Final Furlong"
I'm chirpy today but I wouldn't be upset if the bairn came earlier rather than later and I do feel like a bloody whale. I caught my shadow the other day (we don't have any full length mirrors so I don't get to see my shape very often) It just made me laugh!
Ok I think I've typed just a tad to much here so I think I'll stop for a while and put my snacks in my hospital bag!

Egg ive got the consultant tomorrow at 3.50, hoping he will agree to take me in next morning for induction or by the end of this week at least !! Uterus is at a dangerous level now measuring over 58cms ,fluid overload in my whole body is putting too much strain on my heart and circulatory system too.
Cant believe i will be holding my twinnies by the weekend !! Sounds like you maybe had the sickness bug thats kickin around,i had it between xmas nad new year and had terrible tearing stomach pains as well as the sickness and runs,so much so that i was emergency scanned for a placental abruption[shoock]

Gill79 · 07/01/2008 17:42

WOOHOO NEW THREAD ALERT

I've set up February Fatties in anticipation since thought this would probably run out of space overnight, so you can start using it when this is full.

sarahmikeandharry · 07/01/2008 18:30

gill- well done for setting up the new thread!!!

Love the title by the way!!!!

Oh- also whilst sat here earlier today reading posts i had a strange thing happen!!!

Felt and heard a tiny pop from under my bump!!! very strange- my waters have not broken however i have dropped a hell of alot!!!

Yeah think things could be moving along really soon-

I am so exited however i cant have home birth until sunday as i will be 37 weeks then!!!

Will keep you updated if anything happens- of course!!!!!

morningglory · 07/01/2008 19:58

Like the new title Gill.

To all the busy cleaners, how are you even able to bend down to do the skirting boards? Can't even manage to clean under the loos! I'm usually and neat freak, but since my housekeeper went AWOL and I have had to do everything, my standards have definitely dropped. Happily, I was notified by my new housekeeper that she could start earlier than she told me. This was, the house won't be an environmental hazard by the time the baby is born.

PK616: I know all about spending far more than one intended. Problem is that everything seems to be on offer, and I feel like I should stock up on necessities whilst they are discounted. As a result, I have 10 packets of nappies and 20 packs of wipes!

Bambiraptor · 07/01/2008 20:13

Hi, I haven't posted for ages - internet problems. There is a reason why SKY is so cheap!!
Anyway just checking in, hope everyone is OK especially now the end is in sight. I for one am very fed up with being pregnant. I have spent a fortune on Gaviscon tablets because of the acid, which is new pregnancy thing for me.
Hope everyone had a good christmas and new year.

MrsDandOllie · 07/01/2008 21:37

Hello all, thanks for the warm welcomes
I have a consultants appt tomorrow too. I am 34 weeks now and they said they will assess whether to do a growth scan or not depending on how big I am at this point. I am measuring 3 weeks bigger than dates, so I am hoping to get a sneaky peak at baby again! They will also be making final decision on whether I will go for C sec or natural this time. With my son I had an induced V birth and it ended up with him breaking his arm during the delivery, hence the debate this time as to what will be safest. They seem to think so far that as long as baby is not TOO big then V birth will be fine. I am very wary of being induced again though as I feel that the intervention didnt help so I am thinking of suggesting that I will go natural unless I go overdue and then I would prefer a C sec rather than an induction (also bearing in mind that the more overdue I go the bigger the baby is likely to be). Does that sound like a reasonable thing to suggest???
Sory for long post!!
Love the title on the new thread btw!
