Not very original, but the thread WAS becoming ridiculously big.

not heard of that (goes to look up mongan method). have lent my cds to local mum i barely know to copy: but she's not got them back to me as arranged

anyway nice to have something other than sore ribs to think about!

derah · 02/12/2007 16:15

Mmmmmm, I just made fruit scones.... all hot and yummy!!!

HolidaysQueen · 02/12/2007 16:27

Oooh derah - lovely! I'm eating my first mince pie of the Christmas season

PurlyQueen · 02/12/2007 17:27

Now look what you've done - HolidaysQueen. Now I'm going to have to get a mince pie of my own

fitnforty · 02/12/2007 17:34

Mince pies - never a big fan of them, but boy did i find room for them yesterday! Had my first xmas dinner of the season (well, lunch), a good girlie gossip and i polished off the whole 3 course meal with room to spare. How did that happen?!!! Up until a couple of days ago i haven't had enough room to put that amount of food in my gut, baby must have moved!

Oh, and today have managed 7/8ths of a 14" pizza. What a piggy.

In other news, my cradle has been collected by a friend, but have to wait another week or so before i get it....still, it's mine, all mine! Have ordered spare matteress and sheets for it etc.

Went to see the Dogs Trust behaviourist today to see how we can acclimatise our poor rescue dog to the whole baby thing - he came out of it well, she sussed straight away that i'm the one who'll struggle giving less attention to my baby (the furry snouted one, not the one in the oven) . Have had to get one of those dolls that cry so I can carry it round and get the dog used to me giving something else my attention. It's such an evil looking doll too! On the plus side, it has an off switch .
We went to toys r us to buy it on the way home, and while there, i decided it would be a good idea to set up a gift list with them. What a palaver. Can't manage it online, but thought the whole scanning stuff in store would be easy. First off, though, this was the first time they'd been asked to set up a gift list. Then someone else marched us back to the desk as they thought we were using the handheld scanner without authorisation. Then found out everything we'd scanned in hadn't transferred to the computer, so had to go through it all manually anyway! We were in there for nearly 2 hours all in all.
The John Lewis list service is much easier, but their stock ain't all that great.

fitnforty · 02/12/2007 17:36

ps for those with sniffles, take a high dose vit c tablet (I'm on 1000mg a day) and don't forget the manuka honey if it takes hold of your throat.
You can also get stuff called colloidal silver in a spray or pouring format, which is another natural preventative. Not so good when you've already got the cold, but the honey and vit c will help there.

fitnforty · 02/12/2007 17:39

and a pps - got OH to take a photo of me Fri night to email my parents to show the bump off.
Bloody hell, i look like an elephant! When did that happen? I didn't think my bump was that obvious, probably because my boobs are still bigger than my stomach, but i do look like i've got a couple of pillows shoved up my top.
Whereas my friend on her 2nd, and at the same stage has a neat football under her top

Auntylisa · 02/12/2007 17:50

hello ladies, can i just butt in and join this link? I'm due march 16th. Am very tired (am i the only one who only has a ten minute window when i wake up of feeling ok then feels drugged the rest of the time?) I also have SPD which makes me feel really low, as just getting up for wee is a big deal. Thankfully, have now been signed off work for two weeks which means i can get off the crutches and just lay down. it;s making me really anxious about labour being this much in pain already; am i the only one scared witless about it???

Auntylisa · 02/12/2007 17:52

PS has anyone tried the mongan method and does it work?

merryberry · 02/12/2007 19:00

did the very similar natalhypnobirthing.com and OH boy yes, it really did work! but then i react to other stresses in the same way (focus, engagement, perseverance, frequent swearing to let off steam...)

MarchMum · 02/12/2007 19:38

Mongon method is a form of hypnobirthing for those who haven't looked it up yet, i just had too! :.

mumofmonsters - how did you use baby bjorn from birth, did you have to have a head attachment? the one i bought says don't use from birth bc it doesn't hold the head up. thanks!

someone asked about insurance, we got greenbee (john lewis partnership) which will cover up until 32 weeks.

just unpacked our icandy and had lots of fun pushing it around. was all fun and games until we couldn't figure out how to fold back up....dh very fristrated...help if you have one! :.)

MarchMum · 02/12/2007 19:39

ps got all inspired by you lot to try hypbobirthing then read it doesn't work for people who have trouble concentrating. out for me then :.)

derah · 02/12/2007 19:52

FnF - you're very brave!! ToysRUs is the root of all evil, every time I go in there I swear I'll never set foot in the place again cos something inevitably pisses me off. But it's the biggest (only) toy shop in town so I keep getting forced back there. And don't even get me started on the crapness of their online service! I thought I'd order DD's birthday presents online to save the stress of going in the shop, but they cocked the order up so badly I had to take the afternoon off the day before DD's birthday and go into the shop to buy all her prezzies anyway!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!

derah · 02/12/2007 19:53

PS - welcome auntylisa!!

imjin100 · 03/12/2007 07:57

welcome auntylisa and sorry to hear about sniffles and snuffles and sore hips from all. I can sympathise with soreness as my back is like someone is sticking hot poker in my spine -so i'm sorry if you hips feel even half as bad - it's grim! Despite that i'm still enjoying being pregnant and unlike lots of you I have buried head in sand and not given a moments though to the birth side of things! I have also decided nothing baby focused with land in our house till the new year so i'm also totally chilled by having bought nothing and done nothing to prepare!
I can relate to looking like i've got pillows up my jumper. With my coat on I just look rectangular and not pregnant, without coat - well it's all boobs and tummy this end. A charming vision!
Wish I was coming to the meet up as I think it'll allay everyone's fears as I bet in fact we're all about the same size (well at least someone will be the same size as me surely imjins screams in panicky voice?!?!)....instead i'm out to dinner with people who've had two children - through pregnancy she looked immaculate (and trendy - how?!) and since well her figure was clearly elasticated and pinged straight back...damn her!

Dontlookatmeimshy · 03/12/2007 08:21

Hello. Can i butt in as well and (re)join? I'm due on 15 march. I did join the first threads but couldn't keep up with the pace

Is anyone else feeling quite hormonal and emotionally unstable. one minute and the next

imjin100 · 03/12/2007 09:54

welcome back don'tlookatme - keeping up is impossible I find so just join in as and when you're about. Sorry to hear you're feeling emotional. I know for me poersonally I have found generally being pregnant I am much more emotional than usual - the woman of steel has melted somewhat! I think the only answer is to go with the flow...and get as much sleep as you can! Not helpful I know! Only other option is to use Mumsnet as a good whinge board...now that really does work!
happy days to all.

e14mum · 03/12/2007 10:40

Morning!

There was a good thread a while ago about what "everyone is crying over for no reason at all"... I'll try to dig it up. I'm not too bad this week- but who knows what next week will bring!?! (Watched a movie last week that had me in floods of tears for over an HOUR later!)

On the topic of nursery lists- John Lewis isn't exactly bursting with choice, but I'd much rather shop there because of the service- we definitely enjoyed our complimentary tea and cakes after going around the nursery section with the zapper! We had our wedding list there a few years ago and I can't fault it at all.

MM- did you figure out how to fold the icandy?

Off to get some biscuits with my tea now. E x

e14mum · 03/12/2007 10:42

ps. DH took pictures of the bump the other night and I was AMAZED at how big it looks too! And still 3 months of growing to go!

MerlinsBeard · 03/12/2007 10:47

Marchmum...i had this one (although in black obviously-whote is just daft!)

preggersagain · 03/12/2007 10:49

mm- which i-candy? apple or cherry? i have the apple chassis with the pear adaptor for the twins- i'll be happy to help sort you out- i sell em as well so i really should know how to deal with the things

Another scan tomorrow to check growth and see if there is any signs of twin to twin transfusion syndrome. Also more blood tests and other undignified investigations probobly Never mind meeting the twins is getting closer and closer! One of my customers dh has just come in and announced the birth of their twins- they were born at 31 weeks and are fine- staying in hosp for a little while but no probs so far! makes it all seem so real- i'm 25 weeks now- it could happen anytime after chrimbo

MerlinsBeard · 03/12/2007 10:56

preggers, i could have mine any time after crimbo too. They are talking of admitting me after 32 week scan in case of bleeding-they want me to be on site so to speak.

preggersagain · 03/12/2007 11:26

scary isn't it!! i've started hastling dh to get all those little jobs done- just incase!!

imjin100 · 03/12/2007 11:57

can't believe how amazing thought is of the twins arriving any time after chrimbo - that will be amazing for the rest of us and will feel like things are really happening!!
Good luck with the scans and any other appts others have this week. I have a scan next monday - i think i'm having a dancing elephant so will be nice to be reminded it's actually a baby.
totally blank on ideas for christmas presents...somehow need to get onto it as burying head in sand wont work in that matter! brain seems to have disintergrated since being pregnant...or is that just a good excuse!

MarchMum · 03/12/2007 13:20

mofm - have older one (borrowed) so maybe it isn't meant to support newbon. and yes, white (anything) is daft! dh wants to get white nursery bedding and that's just asking for trouble.

preggers - it the apple. help! :.) i can see how it is supposed to fold, just can't find whatever 'releases' it...

imshy and others - i have been spared crying jags for the most part but had a major one last night. and it was during, wait for it, discussing our birth plan!!! i felt dh was not 'into it' (probably partly true, part hormonal reaction), i wouldn't talk to dh all night even after he tried to apologize. feeling a bit bad and hoping confessing on here will absolve me of my hormonal sins a bit...

looking forward to thursday! am going to do my john lewis zapping beforehand. agree selection is shite but for people who want to buy gifts it's really convenient.

i find i am sleeping a lot more these days, kind of like that 1st trimester tiredness thing - 12 hours most nights...i guess i need it but it's a bit much!
