Not very original, but the thread WAS becoming ridiculously big.

Good morning everyone. Congratulations on the arrival of Lauren, Kirst. It seems at though the girlies want to get a head start on all the boys!

Had my 31 week appointment yesterday, all is fine with me and Junior. He is also head down at the moment E14, but this could still change. Lets hope they get comfy where they are and decide not to move!

We went to Debenhams Lakeside on Sunday and bought some cute bits for Junior. Dh saw this lovely romper suit with Junior on it and had to have it. We had to pretend to the dsd's that it was just in case Junior was a boy and that we could take it back if he was a girl Hope they didn't figure it out!

So glad they went back to school yesterday, and they've only been off for 2 weeks. And just over a week of it was spent at their mums! Think they suffered more this holiday than their 6 week summer break!

JFly · 09/01/2008 11:21

Congratulations Kirst! Glad to hear she's doing well.
How exciting that more babies have arrived!
But: hey you, in there? You stay put!

derah · 09/01/2008 11:36

Congratulations Kirst, and welcome Lauren!! So glad to hear that she's doing well.

Can't believe we've got 3 babies already! Eeek!

Glammama · 09/01/2008 11:39

Congratulations Kirst! All the best for you and your family. She has a beautiful name too. You and Preggers can start up the post natal thread now.

Plus a big thank you for replying to me about my HR issue. Just received a standard letter today saying I should be receiving the full whack so very pleased about that.

Right, I'm off for a little lie down. Had a strenuous morning in the coffee shop eating poached eggs and talking about unreliable bladders with another pregnant mum from DD's school.

Take care all of you...

JFly · 09/01/2008 11:42

Just to say, those of you who know what you're having, Petit Bateau has some lovely things on sale (30% off mostly) right now. Not much unisex stuff, but I did find two sweet outfits, one grey and one orange/white striped. A bit expensive at full price, but I hear from French friends that they are very good quality so worth having a look at the sale.

JFly · 09/01/2008 11:45

Yay, glammama! Way to stick it to The Man. You must be relieved.

HolidaysQueen · 09/01/2008 12:05

Glam - that's great news! You must be relieved.

Antenatal yoga last night was FABULOUS - it involved a lot of lying down and relaxing, so wasn't too strenuous, although I did go bright red in the face during one particularly tough stretching routine! The exercises were fairly simple, and she was great at explaining how they could be useful during labour. I'm going to try and teach DH some of them tonight before I forget (should be amusing!) as some of the exercises you need to do in pairs so he'll need to help out when I'm in labour. The best bit was that I slept really well last night and feel really awake today, so it seems to have had some benefit over and above the actual 90 mins I was there. Yay!

NinjaR · 09/01/2008 12:24

Congratulations Kirst2!! Where did you have your baby? Any tips?

Hi surprisedandexcitedmum - still missing most of the stuff, so feel v unorganised. Glad there are other people out there who are like me, i.e. still have lots to buy!!

MissingMyHeels · 09/01/2008 12:58

Congratulations Kirst!! Great name (my name is Lauren )

How exciting and scary that babies are already arriving!!

AvonBarksdale · 09/01/2008 13:02

Hello Everyone

Bit of a newbie here - long time lurker, first time poster kind of thing - I'm due 29thFeb/1st March (midwives can't make their minds up!!!) so I thought seeing as there's only about 7 weeks to go I'd better get posting! It'll be my first baby and I'm still feeling incredibly calm about the whole thing. I give up work next Friday which is VERY exciting and have already lined up a whole host of lovely things to do in the first week I'm off - these mostly involve shopping and pilates - hurrah! Anyway I'll be getting involved more on Mumsnet (now I'll have the time!) and am looking forward to seeing it through to the end/beginning with the rest of you... if you'll have me of course!!! Take care

MerlinsBeard · 09/01/2008 13:24

congratulations Kirst

We haven;t bought much yet either BUT this is my thrid so still have lots and we have been goven lots of lovely stuff too. Waiting for sure start grant to appear then we can order the trolley but we have a pouch in meantime thanks to a secret santa

days are ticking past until my next scan that will decide the day my LO makes an appearance

skidoodle · 09/01/2008 13:46

Congratulations Kirst and welcome Lauren

Welcome too to AvonBarksdale glamma that's brilliant news about your work situation. I was pretty shocked at what they were trying to do and very relieved to hear they're not going to be able to follow it through.

HQ - your yoga class sounds divine. Perhaps I should see if there are any pre-natal yoga classes where I am.

Other than that I'm having a crappy, stressful, frustrating week at work. I hate computers. Always they break...

tori32 · 09/01/2008 14:16

Hi everyone! and welcome to all you newbies .
It seems like forever since I joined you on the thread. I have been poorly with pneumonia for 2 weeks before xmas and thankfully recovered in time to enjoy it.
Spent the festive season at home with parents and then went North to see DH family and to my friends 40th birthday bash. Had a fab time and danced more than I would normally!
Congratulations to KIRST on your new arrival
Have we had any other early surprises? I haven't been able to read the whole thread.

I had to have a glucose tolerance test due to the size of dd who was 9lb12oz, but everything going fine and within normal ranges.
Pleased with my weight gain of 2.5st compared to 4st 10lb last time!!

Anyway, hope you are all well and have had a good xmas and new year
xx vicki

SpaceHopperHayls · 09/01/2008 14:44

Congratulations, Kirst!

When is everyone starting maternity leave? The bump is due on March 2nd, and I am due to have my last day in the office on 1 Feb, but already this is starting to feel like a million years away.
I'm working full time, and although I am mostly sat at a desk I am really finding it an effort to stay motivated (and yesterday, awake!), especially after lunch, when I feel all full and uncomfortable. I don't think it helps that bump is still sitting very high, which makes bending towards my desk uncomfortable, or if it is all in my head and I am just imagining these symptoms because I can see the finish line now and just want to be on my sofa with a cup of tea enjoying daytime tv while I still can!

Any thoughts?

e14mum · 09/01/2008 15:04

SHH- can't wait either! Ditto about bump sitting high and being uncomfy at desk. I'm working until 36 weeks, so 4.5 left to go!

derah · 09/01/2008 15:10

Hayls - we finish work on the same day. I'm counting down the seconds!!

Welcome Avonbarksdale!!

SpaceHopperHayls · 09/01/2008 15:28

Glad it's not just me. I think having nearly two weeks off over Christmas gave me a taster of being at home, making returning to work all the more difficult.

I have started trying to sort things out, so I am not handing over a big mess to my maternity cover, but am finding it easier said than done with baby brain and decreased motivation. My in-tray has, in a most ill-disciplined manner, erupted, so that my whoel desk looks like I have spent the last week just abandoning piles of paper on it and scribbling on them in red pen. (Which, to be fair, is quite an accurate description of what I have done...)

Bump is very uncomfortable at the moment - might have to ease it by going for a walk to make some tea and scavenge some biscuits.

skidoodle · 09/01/2008 15:31

welcome back tori - I was wondering where you'd gone to. Sorry to hear you've not been well

hayls - I'm planning to work until Feb 29. my due date is March 8th. Anyone else planning to go longer than that?

The way things are going here I'll barely be able to leave even then. oh well, I'm sure I'll sort things out eventually.

7.5 weeks left. Just doesn't seem enough.

gingercat12 · 09/01/2008 15:32

Congratulations to Kirst and your family

Preggers you must be over the moon having them home soon.

Welcome AvonBarksdale and Ninja. It is so good when more people join us

Just been to see MW. All ok, however LO was very naughty last night and turned breech. The MW confirmed it. Not that I needed confirmation, I have never felt so uncomfortable in my whole life... I try to be positive and think that might mean I'll have another scan

Hayls I find work a bit of a pain at the moment, too. Might just be that LO did not let me sleep last night. I decided to call him Flipper for the moment, because he is like a little dolphin.

surprisedandexcitedmum · 09/01/2008 15:39

Congratulations Kirst! I see the girls are ahead but I'm hoping this little girls stays put a little longer yet! Mummy needs to earn some more money!

Skidoodle, I was planning on working later but my contract wasn't extended - my boss was getting nervous. I am working until the end of January though and my due date is the 5th March. I'm so tired now that I sneak of for 10 minute naps in the loo and have just had 2 and half days off where I have slept for an hour (at least) in the afternoon. I don't think I could cope with the City commute in February so money aside, I'm glad to finish soon!

SpaceHopperHayls · 09/01/2008 15:42

skidoodle - 29 Feb? That's dedication for you. My MIL, who is a midwife, told me I should stop as soon as I feasibly could, because then even if Bump is early I'll still get some time to myself.

gingercat - that is naughty indeed. He might flip himself back though, if he is already showing a love for gymnastics. I think mine is likely to be more into martial arts - last night I was accused of slapping Bloke on the bottom, when what he had actually felt was Bump kicking from inside belly resting lightly against Bloke's bottome...

skidoodle · 09/01/2008 15:56

surprised&excited - sorry to hear about your contract. Still if you're needing naps it's probably for the best that you'll be finishing sooner. the important thing is the baby and staying sane, I need to keep reminding myself as it all still seems kind of unreal to me in a lot of ways.

I think a city commute like that would finish me off. I have a 2 mile walk or a 10 minute bus journey, so the getting to and from doesn't really add to my tiredness. Except on the snowy day when I had to basically hobble along to avoid a fall - I was knackered when I got home.

hayls LOL @ slap on the bottom that's hilarious.

e14mum · 09/01/2008 15:59

29th? Wow, skidoodle, I'm in awe.

Does anyone else's LO get hiccups numerous times a day? I'm talking 2-3 episodes, so not that much I guess, but enough for me!

SpaceHopperHayls · 09/01/2008 16:01

To be honest I think he got a bit excited (and optimistic)...it's been a while since there's been much late night bottom slapping

Glammama · 09/01/2008 17:25

Hello all. Welcome to AvonBarksdale and Ninja.
Lol at SHH's bottom slapping.
It's getting a little awkward for any sort of bottom slapping here, what with the restrictions already in place. I was never much of a contortionist in the first place. Plus, for the first time imy life, I'm not really all that bothered. Having hideous pains in cervix and being kicked hard (during bottom slapping) does tend to make one feel less than sexy.

I'm very pleased about my maternity leave too although I still have to face the redeployment/redundancy issue in due course. My maternity leave is due to start on 28th january but I'm off now as I had 3.5 weeks of annual leave saved. Tbh, I'm not sure how you lot are managing. I'm wiped out most of the time.
