@Pancakes7 I hope you feel better soon, colds are rubbish anyway but when you're pregnant and already rundown, they can just tip you over the edge. I had one a few weeks ago and just wanted to cry with how fed up I was of feeling tired, sick and then full of cold.

Welcome @Florence15, congratulations on your bfp! How many weeks are you?

Florence15 · 12/04/2021 07:36

@imisscoffee thank you. 🙂 I’m only 5 weeks so very early. I suffered a mc in Dec. Does anyone know much about taking a low dose of aspirin during pregnancy? In 41 and a friend of mine took it with her last pregnancy as she’d had 2 miscarriages. I’ve read it can help but also read other things too x

lamby12 · 12/04/2021 08:44

@Pancakes7 is it your scan today or tomorrow? How exciting! And will feel so great to have finally hit that milestone.

I am wondering when I will get a date for my 12 week scan - how far ahead did others get it? I am 8+4 today, the referral was done just before the Easter bank holiday so not long ago but I don't want to leave it too late to chase up and then they say there busy and I can't go until wayyy after 12 weeks!

I have my scan at EPU tomorrow so hopefully that will provide reassurance, but I am also feeling like I can't wait to tell people after the dating scan mainly because I feel so rubbish.

The weekend was terrible for me. I spent most of the weekend in bed whilst DH looked after DD, or crawling out to be involved or sit on the sofa with DD. I just felt overwhelmingly sick all weekend, and freezing, almost like I had a gastric bug but nothing coming up or out, just the feeling! Been on dry crackers and toast just to keep it at bay but haven't fancied any food. Really trying not to moan because I'm so pleased to be pregnant of course but it's so miserable being inside in bed feeling awful hearing DH & DD playing outside (we don't get much time together as a family as DH works long hours and usually weekends, so rare to have a whole weekend together!)
So I'm a bit fed up already of feeling rubbish but I suppose I'm maybe getting to the peak of sickness at this stage?!

Was a struggle to get DD to nursery by myself this morning (even though it's really not...!) gearing myself up for a day of conference calls and sitting in front of the laptop but I'm just really wanting to curl up in bed!

It's difficult isn't it ladies, especially after loss you almost daren't feel sorry for yourself about pregnancy symptoms?!

lamby12 · 12/04/2021 08:44

Welcome @Florence15 I don't know about the aspiring but best of luck and congratulations on your BFP. X

marplemead · 12/04/2021 08:46

Good morning all, catching after after some time out.

@Pancakes7 I hope you are feeling a bit better today and your day at work goes quickly! Not long now until your scan.

@Florence15 welcome and congratulations on your bfp. I'm under the care of the recurrent miscarriage clinic, and only started 150mg of aspirin at 12wks. I'm not sure at the reasoning for this, as didn't really ask.

@lamby12 How are you doing today? 🤞🏼 for your scan tomorrow.

@vitaminb33 I'm 13wks and my nausea is so bad. I'm hoping it eases soon, because I was looking forward to feeling more normal at this stage.

lamby12 · 12/04/2021 08:52

Thanks @marplemead feeling slightly less sick than the weekend which is a relief and no more spotting since Saturday PM. So
In the end it was about 24 hours of spotting even though it felt like a lifetime. I'm hoping for good news tomorrow but probably no explanation!

Pancakes7 · 12/04/2021 11:13

Thanks @imisscoffee & @marplemead I'm feeling a bit better. On the paracetamol and drinking lots of decaf tea. Working from home, drove in and just grabbed my laptop. Got my covid really negative so good to be sure even though I knew it was a cold.

@lamby12 My scan is tomorrow afternoon. I'm so excited but also starting to feel anxious. Like what if it's gone wrong? Then I think surely not, scan was so positive before. But yeah I'll be so glad when it's done!

I hope the scan goes well for you tomorrow. I got my scan letter after the weekend having had midwife call on the Thursday evening. It seems it's very quick here. Other areas seem to be taking longer. So I wouldn't worry.

Welcome and congratulations @Florence15

Welcome and congrats @Florence15 😊

I got my 12 week scan letter around 2 weeks before @lamby12 and I was 12+2 the day I went. They had also told me they were busy so I was planning on ringing the day it arrived if it hadn’t been in the post that day, but it arrived thankfully 😊 good luck with your scan tomorrow! And @Pancakes7 too 😊 not much longer to go! It’s good you’ve been able to be at home today to work so that you can rest and hopefully try to recover. It’s crap that there’s not much you can take for it as well 😔 I usually try to get a couple of hot showers and use the steam to clear my nose. Could you try doing that, even over the sink?

Pancakes7 · 12/04/2021 14:55

@PumpkinEverything Thanks, I've had a warm shower this morning. Been taking just paracetamol. Keeping up water and hot drinks. I've suddenly got a real sick feeling and tummy ache. I can feel the anxiety building up about tomorrow. I was hoping I wouldn't get so worked up. I think working from home is harder as I'm newly been I still don't have masses to do so hard to keep distracted from thinking about it. I feel like I could be sick.

Just been to the hospital to have my NIPT/SAFE test eeek... cost £350. Could get results by Friday or early next week. But nervous but if we get bad news it’s good to be informed. Have any of you guys had it and how long did it take to get your results?

Hope you’re all well today xx

Firevie · 12/04/2021 15:32

@Cafeaulait27 I got my harmony test done amd paid £500 on the dot. I got my results within 5 business days and that’s was over Easter so pretty quickly xx

PumpkinEverything · 12/04/2021 16:33

It’s so horrible isn’t it @Pancakes7 😔 can you maybe get out on a walk this evening? I think not being busy in work makes it so much harder as your mind just wanders as well.

Pancakes7 · 12/04/2021 16:35

@PumpkinEverything tbh with my cold I just don't have the energy. Plus someone would need to stay in as DS would be asleep. I think I'll watch some comedy TV tonight. Hopefully distract myself. I've finished work now. Eeeek!!!

lamby12 · 12/04/2021 17:15

Ohhhhh this nausea is relentless! All I've forced down today in an effort to keep eating every couple of hours is toast, crackers, biscuits and a satsuma. Still terrible nausea, terrible tummy ache and now got awful wind and the runs right as I'm about to go and collect DD!

Sorry for ignoring the thread but I just had to vent. How can such plain food still cause such a reaction!!!!?!!?

imisscoffee · 12/04/2021 17:17

@Florence15 there's a risk assessment in hospital notes for baby aspirin, I think you need 2 risks for them to ask you to take it. I took it throughout my first pregnancy in 2014 and I'm sure I started at booking, which was around 6/7 weeks. My risks were first baby, and my BMI. Other reasons are history of pre eclampsia, high blood pressure and age I think. When I fell pregnant again a few months later I didn't need to take it.

@lamby12 this time my midwife made my scan appointment straight after my booking phonecall so I had the date from around 6 weeks, but last time I was 10 weeks and hadn't heard so rang the hospital and they booked it over the phone. Maybe ask while you're at EPU tomorrow, they might be able to see if it's on your file or book it while you're there. I hope it goes well tomorrow X

@Pancakes7 glad you're on the mend, best of luck for tomorrow!

Hope your results don't take long @Cafeaulait27, are you finding out the gender? Sorry if you've already said.

Florence15 · 12/04/2021 17:25

@imisscoffee thanks 😊 I’ve spoken to a midwife who said more and more doctors are prescribing it now. I’ve just heard it helps the blood flow and with me being over 40 and having had 2 mc last year then maybe it would help me. I’ll speak to them again in my booking app I think 🤔 xx

Bellabubble · 12/04/2021 18:04

@Florence15 I’m 37 and had 2 mc last year. When I was on the TTC forum, one of the ladies who was the same age with 2 mc’s was with a private consultant who had advised her to take aspirin from her bfp - just one a day until week 12. I did the same - I got a low dose one from tesco
www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/266990312

I think taking it at later stages is for when you are more at eisk fkr esrly labour

Florence15 · 12/04/2021 18:38

@Bellabubble thanks, that’s good to know. Did you just take 75mg a day then? The midwife said 150 a day is a low dose. It does no harm so I think I’ll do that going forward. A friend of mine was told to stop at 36 weeks as after that could cause blood loss in labour x

lamby12 · 12/04/2021 19:00

Thanks @Pancakes7

Has anyone else experienced diarrhoea as a symptom? I thought the nausea was bad but the last few hours I've had liquid (sorry TMI) toilet trips and awful stomach pains. 100% nothing like food poisoning as I haven't eaten anything capable of that (already dry crackers are as exotic as it's getting). And not a bug I don't think as I haven't been in contact with anyone.

Wondering if this is a normal symptom and just a different side of morning sickness?

Bellabubble · 12/04/2021 19:33

@Florence15 yeh just one 75mg a day as my mum was worried about how it can affect the stomach (my dad had a scare with diverticulitis a few years ago!) I stopped at 12 weeks as the placenta has pretty much taken over by then and I have no other risks so far 🤞🏻

Smurf123 · 12/04/2021 19:53

@Florence15 I was prescribed 75mg by gp when pregnant with ds as I was on the waiting list for rmc after 3 mmc and she said it was the first thing they would try.
I was told then by hospital consultant to take it to 37 weeks or a week before planned induction.
I had placenta issues at the end with ds (though he's a bright healthy 3 year now)
So consultant has advised that I take 150mg aspirin for duration of this pregnancy again to at least 37 weeks

Pancakes7 · 12/04/2021 20:05

@lamby12 I've been there same recently with diarrhoea. I only eat toast then my tummy will hurt and I have to run to the loo. It's not every day but I've had it on and off. I definitely think it's a symptom. I hope you feel better soon. What time is your scan tomorrow?

OP posts:
MrsTD88 · 12/04/2021 20:46

Welcome @Florence15 and massive congratulations.

Good luck for tomorrow @lamby12 and @Pancakes7

@lamby12 I had terrible diarrhoea last week and felt rotten. I did some Googling and came to the conclusion it might be the Pregnacare, since I've changed to something else I've been fine (could just be a coincidence). I was barely eating anything too due to feeling so sick. Hope you feel better soon. You too @Pancakes7

I had my first consultant appointment today due to previous emergency section. I am hoping for an elective this time round and the consultant was in agreement with my reasons for wanting this. It looks like 39 weeks is the time it will be happening if I don't go into labour before then! I'll be having growth scans every 4 weeks from 28 weeks. We discussed aspirin and she said I don't need it because although I have a higher BMI I don't have any other risk factors. They'll reassess as the pregnancy progresses. Apparently I won't see much of my midwife in the latter stages as I'll be at hospital every 4 weeks so they'll do all the urine checks etc.

lamby12 · 12/04/2021 21:01

Thanks @MrsTD88 and @Pancakes7 feeling pretty rotten and sorry for myself at the moment. A combination of lack of food, exhaustion, diarrhoea, nausea, etc. I've managed a banana since the worst of it but still got stomach gripes and nausea.

I think I will put myself on a brat diet for a few days. My vitamins have been the same throughout but maybe now that they're not on a full stomach they could be contributing I suppose.

I can't imagine ever wanting to eat again but I'm sure we all feel like that.

My scans at 8.30am. Just hoping I can make it there without sicking/ sh*ting on myself more than anything.... lovely I know...

Cafeaulait27 · 12/04/2021 21:10

@Firevie ooh that’s a good turnaround! Hopefully I might know by Friday?!

@imisscoffee you know what it all seemed to happen so quick I forgot to check if they do! I called up the hospital to enquire this morning, and they said I could come down the same day so I went on my lunch break and totally forgot to ask about the gender. I might ring them tomorrow to ask. If they do, we’d love to find out 😊 we don’t mind but everyone keeps saying they think it’s a girl, and weirdly I was getting girl vibes before we even told anyone! We’ll see xx
