I completely forgot to post on here last night because I was so overwhelmed and relieved 🙈 all went well at our scan thankfully. She checked and confirmed legs, arms, feet and hands looked fine. The lungs and bladder were working as they should be, the head measured fine and there was enough fluid around baby. She was very reassuring and also played the heartbeat for me and we got one of the little bears with it 😊 scan photos aren’t the clearest as baby was wriggling a lot, doing a handstand, and turning their back 🙈 and we found out that it’s a girl! 😁

@PumpkinEverything yay I’m so pleased for you. I was worried you had t posted and hoped everything is fine. Brilliant news that your baby girl is absolutely fine! Is your next scan the 20 week scan? Xx

PumpkinEverything · 28/04/2021 08:11

Yes all okay thankfully @Firevie 😊😊 we got a pizza from our favourite place on the way home and watched Wall E 😂 although I really couldn’t concentrate at all! Yes next scan was 3 weeks away yesterday! It’s my ‘20 week’ scan but I’ll actually be 19+1 😊 I had booked yesterday’s scan only an hour before my letter for that one came through, so it actually worked out perfectly having only 3 weeks between them to break it up nicely x

Firevie · 28/04/2021 09:02

@PumpkinEverything yay to pizza! And 3 weeks is good I think. Though I’m getting so impatient with my guest ever 3week gap. So impatient to see my baby boy 🥰 2 weeks one day to go lol xxx

PumpkinEverything · 28/04/2021 09:17

@Firevie yeah I’m so glad I don’t have a much longer wait! I just feel so so much better after yesterday and because she checked everything and it wasn’t just a scan for me to have a look at baby. We also told a group of friends last night which was really nice as I can now finally share with the other pregnant girl in the group who is due in July 😊 and I’ll be seeing her at a wedding next week so I’m excited! Not much longer for you to go 😁😁 it’ll hopefully fly in; especially with the bank holiday Monday if you’re off work!x

Firevie · 28/04/2021 09:22

@PumpkinEverything yay I’m so pleased for you! Must have been great to tell friends too! I’ve so far only told 3 of my closest friends. I’m a v private person anyway so it’s fine. I just want to enjoy this time for myself and given COVID I’m not seeing too many people anyway so it’s fine. Xxx

PumpkinEverything · 28/04/2021 10:04

I think that’s really nice too though @Firevie 😊 I had to tell my two best friends for my sanity, and then we told our immediate family at the 12 week scan, then the friends yesterday, and I’ll probably tell my grandparents shortly too. The rest can wait until after the next scan. I’ve just been doing it in batches as I don’t want to feel overwhelmed with lots of people asking me!xx

vitaminb33 · 28/04/2021 12:55

Oh lovely news @PumpkinEverything congratulations!

Cafeaulait27 · 28/04/2021 13:54

Hi all, haven’t posted in a while but have been following along!

Congratulations on having good scans @vitaminb33 @PumpkinEverything @marplemead ❤️

I had my 16 week appointment today and the midwife got the Doppler out so I could listen to the heartbeat! Was great to hear everything is still ok in there. She told me to record it for my husband which was a great idea, he’s only listened once but I’ve been listening on repeat haha! So nice to have it so I can listen whenever I want 😌

Looking forward to Saturday now as we’re having a private reassurance scan and will hopefully find out the sex 🤞 🌈 xxx

IJustPeedInTheMaintenanceBay · 28/04/2021 14:45

Hi all

I've been a bit pants at keeping up with this thread, sorry.

Have my 12 week scan tomorrow morning (at 12+5) and my anxiety is absolutely through the roof. Convinced it's going to be a missed miscarriage again, even after seeing the heartbeat at 8 weeks. Also wishing we'd gone for an early NIPT rather than waiting to see how the NHS screening comes back - have convinced myself it's coming back high because of my age if nothing else (38)

Part of the reason I ummed and ahhed about when to do the NIPT is that our only local option is with the same private scan chain where I found out about my miscarriage last time. Not even the same location as we've since moved but the thought of the cheery reception room with all the bloody gender reveal stuff makes me feel a bit ill.

Agh, sorry for download but I feel like I'm going to lose the plot 😪

Cafeaulait27 · 28/04/2021 16:04

Hi @IJustPeedInTheMaintenanceBay good luck for your scan! I was the same before mine but it ended up being fine. Try to remember it’s very unlikely anything will go wrong but I know that’s easier said than done.

Do you have the option to pay for NIPT at your hospital? Might be worth enquiring, that’s what we did. We paid £350 for the SAFE test, my blood was sent to St George’s in London and I got results within 5 days xx

Firevie · 28/04/2021 16:20

@Cafeaulait27 yay to your 16week scan and hearing the heartbeat. Such a fab idea to record! My hubby hasn’t been able to come to the scans yet because of the restrictions so recording it is a great idea! I’ve been so lucky having heard the heartbeat since week 6 but can’t get enough of it haha
I still have to wait two weeks and 1 day for my next scan when I’ll be 18weeks but have been anxious waiting. Keep weighing and measuring myself haha
@IJustPeedInTheMaintenanceBay good luck for your scan tmr! For what it’s worth I did the harmony test in week 11. Had to pay £480 for it but was worth it and my results were back within 4-5 days

Xxx

Pancakes7 · 28/04/2021 20:26

@Cafeaulait27 I'm so glad your scan went well! Hearing the heartbeat is so wonderful. I'm going to record the heartbeat too next week. It's amazing to be able to play it back. I did that with DS.

@IJustPeedInTheMaintenanceBay I completely understand the anxiety. Some call it scanxiety which is so true. You may have seen I started worrying again and I've booked a scan for tomorrow. 🙈 I'm sure everything will be fine at your scan. Try to keep positive. I keep repeating to myself 'baby is healthy and measuring a good size' that helped me. So try that. Also the image that @PumpkinEverything shared the other day is great to repeat to yourself. ❤️

I think I'm the only person who can't stand hearing the heartbeat, I'm weird I know. I prefer just seeing it on the screen. With my first I must've been put on a trace 4 times a day for 7 days straight before emcs, the noise of a doppler, trace or anything that plays a baby's heartbeat now freaks me out. One of the quirkier bits of ptsd!

PumpkinEverything · 28/04/2021 20:37

Good luck for tomorrow @IJustPeedInTheMaintenanceBay what time is it at? Statistically, the odds are in your favour that everything is going to be fine 😊 try to focus on that. I have had to stand in front of a mirror and tell myself things are going to be fine. Mine was a missed miscarriage too so I understand how hard it is as our bodies are so cruel giving no signs or symptoms! I feel positive for you that all is going to be okay 😊 try to watch something light hearted and funny tonight if you can, get a nice shower, and hopefully manage to get a bit of sleep.

What time have you booked for @Pancakes7 ? Seems like quite a few people have panic booked scans this week! I would have too had I not had mine booked in 🙈

It’s crazy how you don’t know how you’ll feel about things until the time @Garman I never thought I’d feel comfort in a heartbeat either. Also didn’t realise how much I’d appreciate clips of baby moving over photographs. I watch it most days and just love to focus on seeing that little heart beating away to relax me

Pancakes7 · 28/04/2021 20:51

@Garman I'm so sorry you have that association. I hope a positive experience of hearing the heartbeat can heal that for you. ❤️

@PumpkinEverything I booked it for 12.40 as I'm taking DS to the dentist in the morning for the first time 🙈 at least that will keep me busy! 😂 I'm excited and a bit nervous. Hoping to get some clearer scan pictures. Maybe even find out the gender. I'm not sure if they'll say no a s the gender scan booking is from 16 weeks and I'll be 15 weeks +2

OP posts:
PumpkinEverything · 28/04/2021 21:05

Great idea @Pancakes7 I think that’ll be a nice distraction beforehand 😁 fingers crossed for clear photos! Think there’s a fine line between having your bladder full and overfull 😂 it’s the one thing I like about the internal scans, such a clear photo! Maybe they’ll be able to give you a rough guess at what they think they’ll be?! You’re so close in dates that I would expect them to be able to see something, just maybe not confirm for sure

Garman · 28/04/2021 21:24

Nope I heard my second dc's heartbeat a ton of times, 3 scans so far on this one and 1 on the mmc, I can't even stand it on tv, have to turn it off! It's okay for now, I just tell them to leave the sound off, if I have to go on a trace towards the end I'll need headphones!

Best of luck with your upcoming scans everyone x

MrsTD88 · 28/04/2021 21:24

@Garman I totally get that. Dont get me wrong it is reassuring but when I was induced that monitor that goes on your tummy kept missing baby's heartbeat which was terrifying. They eventually decided to put the clip monitor on baby's head once my waters went. It gives me the fear thinking about every time the heartbeat disappeared with the tummy monitor! I ended up having an EMCS too in the end.

Pancakes7 · 28/04/2021 23:01

@PumpkinEverything Well my nhs scan didn't ask for a full bladder so that probably didn't help the blurry picture. Tomorrow's asks for a full bladder so I'll try to do that without wetting myself 😂 I hope they can tell me the gender. DH doesn't mind if I find out on my own tomorrow. I just hope baby is healthy ❤️

Bellabubble · 28/04/2021 23:32

@IJustPeedInTheMaintenanceBay I’m 37 and only had the nhs screening. Although my age group put me at the potential for lower ratio numbers, my adjusted results from my bloods were pretty much the same as my friend who is just 30 - well into the 1000’s, you could always do the nhs and if the results worry you then do the nipt one?

Pancakes7 · 29/04/2021 07:09

Feeling a bit anxious this morning. Really hoping all is ok with baby ❤️

PumpkinEverything · 29/04/2021 08:46

MrsTD88 · 29/04/2021 09:06

Good luck today @Pancakes7 I'm sure everything will be perfect. X

Firevie · 29/04/2021 09:20

@Pancakes7 good luck for your scan! I’m sure it will all go well xx
