Loopy - the luxury of a new bed What a treat. Is it just me or do these things have increased significance during pregnancy? Must be something to do with feathering our nests.

I've been having contractions for about 2 hours now. About 10 mins apart and lasting about 45 seconds. Can someone remind me how frequent contractions should be before you should think about going into the delivery suite?

LOM - will text you this evening if things do progress to let you know about tomorrow. Good sign that you're having BHs

littleoldme · 06/11/2007 19:55

Choudru - the last couple of pages of these nice guidelines give you all that kind info in last couple of pages. Hope all goes well, I'm soo excited for you. And don't worry about texting me, I'm sure you'll have other things on your mind. If I turn up and you aren't there I'll just have to eat all the cake my big fat self!

littleoldme · 06/11/2007 20:01

BUM I just re read that leaflet and it doesn't give that info. Sorry , I fibbed.

aikigypsy · 06/11/2007 20:20

Choudru -- I think it's every 5 minutes, or 10 in an hour.

aikigypsy · 06/11/2007 20:21

Choudru -- I think it's every 5 minutes, or 10 in an hour. Good luck! I hope it goes smoothly!

JARM · 06/11/2007 20:21

choudru - 5 mins apart, 1 min in length apparently.

With DD2 I had contractions every 30 seconds lasting a minute long!

RGPargy · 06/11/2007 20:33

Good luck Choudru!!!! You and Silk sound like you're well on your way, you lucky lucky girls!!!!

Keep us informed as much as you can and dont forget - WE WANT PICTURES!!!!

Think i've been having BHs as well, as it goes. Seeing as not all of my tummy has feeling, i've just been getting these weird tightenings on the lower bit of my tummy, just about the lady garden area and assuming that these are BHs. I tend to get them if i've been doing alot, like walking around the shopping centre like i was doing today or standing up cooking for a long time or pottering around etc. Let's hope it'll be the real thing sooner rather than later.

Have a nice evening everyone!!

RG -im getting the same. Was a bit taken aback this afternoon thinking something was starting to kick off, but as soon as I lay on the bed and got comfortable it all stopped!

i think the boy is going to be stubborn and stay in as long as possible!!!

aikigypsy · 06/11/2007 20:49

Sorry about the double post above. Internet was non-responsive. I saw the MW this morning and discussed my desire for an intervention-free birth, barring medical emergency. We agreed not to do an induction based on dates alone until after 42 completed weeks, which I'm comfortable with. I'm glad we've had that conversation, now I feel like I won't have to battle the hospital about it. But now I'm only at 39+3, and feel like things could get going at any time!

In other good news, she says it feels like LO is engaged, which I think happened yesterday, and it wasn't very dramatic for me. Feeling ready.

RGPargy · 06/11/2007 21:06

Jarm - meant to say ABOVE my lady garden, not about it!!

Aiki - Fingers crossed things start to happen for you soon too!

Incidentally, i haven't bought a pump yet - do you think i need to buy one, especially as i'm intending to BF?

oooooooooo more babies

Today has been a nightmare...

Last night at 10pm we had a major power failure in the area, and the power wasn't restored for 12 hours, I had to feed Callum in pitch darkness, which is hard.. couldn't leave the candles burning. It was freezing cold and horrible.

Anyway today was Callum's hip Ultrasound. We drive 20 mins. to the hospital, try and find a parking space, and in the end I had to jump out with Callum while DH drove around to find a space. Get to the dept. and my mobile goes. It was the school, saying that DS1's legs have gone into spasms and could I pick him up? I asked them to phone my MIL and get them to pick him up for me.
Get into the US room and the doctor asks me how old Callum is, I explained that he was premature with a corrected age of 0 weeks. She said he was too young to have the test, and when I questioned as to why he was actually having the US done, she said 'because he was breech' I said 'well he defo. wasn't breech, I remember the birth' So after all that, we were sent away and he didn't have the US and never needed it anyway....

PS JARM, the pump was posted today Special delivery, will be with you by 1pm tomorrow

RGPargy · 06/11/2007 21:43

Blimey, sparkly what a nightmare!!! What a waste of time and energy too. It can only get better now..... surely!!

sparklygothkat · 06/11/2007 21:49

yes twas a waste of time..

JARM · 06/11/2007 22:00

awww sparkly - that is so so so shite.

Hope you are ok though mate, and DS is a ok after spasms.

Ta for the pump, wanted to also ask you - did you buy those bras from ebay in the end?! the 3 for £18 or whatever?! If so, what are they like?!

Got measured today, and nearly fainted at the price of M&S but cant seem to find much else cheaper other than on ebay!

Am after 38C's if anyone finds any - oh and they have to be cotton!

sparklygothkat · 06/11/2007 22:03

yes I did buy the 3 for #18 bras, they are ok, they are cotton and have drop cups, which are easy to do onehanded. Quite comfy too.

JARM · 06/11/2007 22:04

oooh ta mate, ive seen one i really like in M&S but £14 for one bra is just silly money!

Will get the ebay ones next week then!

sparklygothkat · 06/11/2007 22:09

i just ordered a feeding bra from the NCT lady at breastfeeding clinic.. its black with pink ribbon and costs > dont tell Dh..

JARM · 06/11/2007 22:11

i just cant warrant that sort of money on a bra at the moment - unless i ask DH to get me it for christmas lol

Right girls, am off to bed - hope there are some more gorgeous babies to coo over in the morning! xxx

RGPargy · 06/11/2007 22:13

All this talk of feeding bras!! I really must get some!! I keep forgetting tho!

Pixiefish · 07/11/2007 03:01

wouldn't bother with a pump yet rg- unless you see one on offer somewhere. hospital advise you not to express for a month

capecodder · 07/11/2007 08:37

Still delighting in the novelty of being on maternity leave. certainly not bored yet and hoping & waiting for the nesting instinct to kick in as I am enjoying doing nothing too much.

I've been told to hold off on nursing bras as your breasts can get much bigger once the milk comes. Then again I was a 32A to start with and am now a 34B- which is huge to me!

I've been drinking rasberry leaf tea but see that some of you on here have been advised against it and was wondering why.

Hope you're all having a good morning.

LizzieO · 07/11/2007 08:37

Hello everyone

and congrats to all the new mummies !!!! have been trying to catch up over the last few days, but by the time i catch up i don't get a chance to post
Capecodder - sorry to hear your sad news - sending a big hug

Choudru/Silk how exciting - everything crossed (or not crossed as it were ) for you

I am due today but no sign of anything happening - everytime i see or speak to anyone i get the same old platitudes "ahhh you still holding on - you must be really fed up" thing is i'm not fed up, baby is gonna come when its ready and i am enjoying spending some quality time with my little man i am getting more and more uncomfortable tho'

SGK - my little one had a hip scan too cos he was premature - i don't think i questioned it at the time - sorry you had such a s**t day and that your son is better, it all must be very stressful for you

take care everyone - will keep you updated on any news
