Capecodder-first of all sorry to hear your sad news.
Also to answer your question-my first two were back to back, although one yurned as he came out, I don't have anything to compare their labours with (will have when this one is born, if it stays on the side as it is), but don't let people's scare stories worry you about back to back, I'm just worried because I've never had a contraction in my stomach, just in my back, whereas I will this time and am scared of the unknown . It is what it is (I did everything to try to change the positions of my two, without success), I'm sure you'll be fine

How is everyone this morning? I had a terrible night's sleep - kept waking up all night so decided that when DP's alarm went off, i would get up as well. Feeling a bit tired now tho!

Hi all

Cape, so sorry to hear about your cousin. Sending lots of hugs.

Anna, glad to see you back! And look forward to pics.

Cape, also, my lo is in a funny position - neither backwards nor forwards but sideways. Cant come out that way so will tip one way or the other in labour, apparently. More likely it will tip backwards, but depends on space. I guess we take what comes...

Choudru, I know the impatient feeling! I am sooooooo impatient now.

Loopy, sounds like you had fun! And RG, you're too energetic by half. JARM, hope you had a relaxing evening.

Silk - any more action from you?

I just want lo to come now!!! I'm 40+6 and fed up! Anyway I have a friend and her baby and toddler coming round today for lunch and the afternoon so I'll make the most of baby-stalking. Have tried all the natural induction methods other than pineapple (I HATE it); tomorrow need to decide whether to have a sweep...
Unless lo decides to come today... please...

Have a good day all and good labour vibes all round!

RGPargy · 06/11/2007 08:16

Choc - sending you massive labour vibes! Hope it starts for you soon (and i HATE pineapple too!!).

Time for a cup of tea i think!

Morning to you all and lots of good labour vibes being sent out to those who are still waiting.

I had a little girl, Jessica Grace on Sunday at 5am. She is 6lb 1oz and totally gorgeous. I am fine, labour progressed really well after waters broke Sat am and I delivered naturally with Pethidine and Entonox to get me through stage one - did stage 2 and 3 with just grit and hubbys hand! Feel very positive about the birth bit, but now have to figure out how to be a good mummy which is much harder!

I will post more when I can.

RGPargy · 06/11/2007 10:12

CONGRATULATIONS ELB!!!!

Jessica Grace is a lovely name and a nice weight too, especially for an early bird!

Looking forward to some pics!!

Congratulations ELB (you naughty queue jumper ). Jessica Grace is a lovely name.

Update from me - hurrah - it seems to be happening. Woke at 7am with contractions - they feel different to the ones I have been having - much more like period pains and completely manageable so far. Have been coming every 12-20 mins ever since. Then (tmi alert) another BIG show - loads of bloody mucus - much more than last Tuesday's.

Sent DH to work cos I told him it would be a while yet. He works an hour away so mw (who is on her way round to take my bp) said ring him when it gets to every 10 mins.

I'll keep you posted ladies cos I am now just killing time.

Join me in a little prayer to hope it doesn't all stop

RGPargy · 06/11/2007 10:56

ooooooo Good luck Silk!!! How exciting!!!!

37 weeks today and sooooo ready for this baby now!!!

OP posts:
FCH · 06/11/2007 11:53

Morning all!

Cape - so sorry to hear about your cousin, and what a dreadful time to be feeling ill on top of everything, but do make sure you look after yourself and that everyone else does too...

CONGRATULATIONS Anna and ELB1. What brilliant news! (even if you are queue jumping!!)

Choudru - it is indeed a rubbish club, and as I have just been to the MW who said there is still no sign whatsoever that the head is engaging I have a feeling I am going to be a pretty longstanding member!

Choc - I'm interested in what you say about your LO's position. When I had my presentation scan I got very confused about which way round the baby was compared to how it should be, so I got my sister (who is a MW) to get some books out and explain it to me. She said that the pelvis is widest side to side at the top and so before labour starts all babies presenting properly are lying facing their mother's side, with the back down one side of the bump and the limbs on the other. As the pelvis is widest front to back at the bottom the baby has to turn during labour and whilst most turn to face backwards some do turn to face forwards, and it is this that causes "back labour". So it sounds like your baby is doing the same as mine, which is lining itself up with the top of the pelvis but not showing much sign of descending. Wish they would though!!

Loopy - hope you had a good weekend, and glad you have your home birth kit. We have got all the stuff ready and even partially inflated the Birth Pool so DH could get an idea of how it works. LO not taking the hint though

RG - they bring all the stuff round on the day here too, so I just have a few bits and pieces like a medical waste bucket and baby notes. I do have a waterproof sonic aid here though, which is very easy to operate ... And well done for arriving at 37 weeks and being all set for your HB - so exciting!

Silk - brilliant news - I am on tenterhooks waiting to hear - lots of good wishes coming your way!

Now - am off to the hospital for consultant opinion tomorrow afternoon as head is not engaged. Have a feeling this is not going to be as straight forward as seeing my lovely midwife, who is totally supportive of HB etc. Have a feeling the I word is going to come up so am going to be spending tonight educating DH on the undesirability of this... Wish me luck!

fiona76 · 06/11/2007 12:38

DH just rang from work to say he is taking me to the movies this afternoon. What a sweetie!! I think he is realising that life is about to change big time!!
Congrats to ELB and good luck with your contractions silk. Me next??? Unlikely but wishful thinking...

LK2boyzma · 06/11/2007 12:52

Hello all,

I got up this morning and the boiler had packed up! (angry) That meant DS had to be a few minutes late for school as I had to use the kettle to get him some hot water to bath.

Am going to get my hair done this afternoon, hopefully, something that will last until LO comes and should cheer me up after this morning!

Anna- Lovely birth story and beeaauuutifuullllll pictures of Amelia!

Cape: good to have you back, sorry about your loss though!

RG- Good luck vibes your way for your DS' next tests. You seem to have so much energy at 37 weeks to be doing so much around the house (envy)ANyway they say the more active you are, the quicker LO will be (if thats anything to go by)

Jarm / RG- If I am not mistaken, you mentioned something about buying paint or doing some painting around the house, I read something about paints in 'EMMA'S DIARY' that you should ensure that the paint that you buy has low VOC (volatile organic compounds)because its safe for you and the baby. Am sure you may know this already but I thought I should mention it.
(sorry TMI)
Silk / ELB congratulations to both of you!

LK2boyzma · 06/11/2007 12:59

Silk: Its actually good luck to you and hope as the day ends, you will have your LO with you

JARM · 06/11/2007 13:51

ELB!!! CONGRATS!

So thats 4 boys and 4 girls now - all even! And Jessica is a fantastic name (well it was 3.4yrs ago when I had DD1!)

Silk - all the best mate, keep us posted!!!

Re paints - i didnt think it was an issue anymore?! Ah well - bit late now, 3 rooms done, and TBH Dh has done most of the work!

Not up to much today other than filling out application forms for the lazy cousin, but at least it means he might actually get a job!

Had a god-awful night last night, couldnt settle and was up a lot, but will no doubt make up for it later!

Take care all of you, and cant wait for more news!

iris66 · 06/11/2007 14:06

Congratulations ELB (lovely name) and oooooh! good luck to Silkcushion!!

ChocolateHobNob - I've decided that you're going to be next so gird those loins and get ready to wiggle that baby out

aikigypsy · 06/11/2007 14:47

Congratulations ELB and Anna!

So sorry to hear about your cousin, Capecodder. Such a tragedy. Do take care of yourself, though.

No real news here. All done with work and feeling vaguely uncomfortable and sleepier than I've been. Getting odd cramps and jabby feelings here and there, but LO hasn't even dropped yet as far as I can tell. Doing half-baked peineal massage every few days and wondering if things will get going this coming weekend.

Anyone feel like having a baby today???????????

Due tomorrow - and if one more person at school says 'still here then?' I might get a little angry at them!!!!

Good luck to Silk - you lucky lucky girl!!!

ELB and Anna - many Congratulations on the arrival of your little girls!

Feet up girls, nearly there! x

choudru · 06/11/2007 16:29

Loopy - lovely to have you back Can't believe you're braving IKEA at this stage of pregnancy.

Silk - good luck honey! Keep us posted!

Progress from Mrs GrumpyPants here is that I had a run of regular contractions for about an hour and a half at 3:30am this morning. Got up, made myself a hot chocolate and went back to bed with a book. Then they stopped.

Today had an appointment with the consultant but as I went to the loo before leaving, I discovered I had a show!!! So ended up late for the consultant but they understood Basically they said that I should wait until waters break now which should be soon (but then again Silk has been waiting a while so I won't hold my breath). As soon as my waters break, I have to go in because of Strep B issue.

They gave me a stretch and sweep to see if that encourages things to move on. Have been having intermittent contractions since but nothing regular.

OOH! Just had a contraction!

So things 'could' be happening soon. If this LO decides to be really awkward and doesn't appear within the next 10 days, they will induce me on the 16th (term+14).

Was bored last night and checked for famous dates in November to coincide with our babies. Check here for historical dates in November. Good month - the end of WW1, the fall of the Berlin wall, bonfire night amongst others.

Interesting fact I discovered - DS's birthday coincides with the date JFK announced the US's intention to put a man on the moon and DH's birthday coincides with the date they did it.

My birthday coincides with the date Abraham Lincoln was born and if LO arrives today or or thursday, her birthday will coincide with the date he was elected president for the first time (today) or when he was re-elected (thursday).

FCH - this overdue club is so rubbish that it reduces you to the most pointless tasks possible. I thought freshening up my spice rack was bad enough but now I'm researching the relative merits of different D.O.B.s!!!

Off for a nap now.

littleoldme · 06/11/2007 19:04

Now then girls,

I just wanted to check in. Have been out with my mum today and have been getting painful Bh. feeling happy but physically rubbisg. Will catch up 2 moz
