sparklygothkat · 20/11/2007 20:44

well, the doctor did some small checks, heart, lungs and tummy, couldn't see anything that was bad. I have to give him one topup of high energy formula each day. It will be done down the tube. We have t go back in 6-8 weeks to review. If he doesn't gain in the next 2 weeks, I will be phoning him though.

JARM · 20/11/2007 21:28

are you happy with the sparkly?

I hope you didnt feel fobbed off x

sparklygothkat · 20/11/2007 21:30

no, I'm not happy with doing that! I don't want him to have formula but I don't have a choice, it can't carry on like this, he needs to get some weight on. We did feel fobbed off. The doctor doesn't want to do tests until he knows if the extra milk helps or not

JARM · 20/11/2007 21:33

oh sweetheart, im so so sorry. It must be so hard to not be able to do what you want and know is best for Callum.

I really hope Callum puts some weight on and you can drop the formula feed completely. I guess one saving grace is that it is going through the tube and not a bottle, the last thing you want is nipple confusion xxx Thinking of you so so much xxx

ChocolateHobnob · 20/11/2007 21:37

Hi Sparkly

I am sorry you've been fobbed off. One bottle of formula won't ruin all your fantastic bf efforts though - try to remember that. He is still getting all that goodness from you.

He's such a little star...

Aiki, thinking of you - I went to 41+6 and was nearly demented and now I have my baby girl.

Hugs to all of you waiting.

LizzieO · 20/11/2007 22:14

awwwww congratulations lizzie!

COme on - tell us the details, we are all bored here waiting! Hope things are settling down for you though.

Take care and hope to join you on the post-natal very soon!!!

RGPargy · 20/11/2007 23:16

Loopy - I know what you mean about food. I've been on a right munchathon lately. Alas, i've not been able to munch on crap lately as the cupboards are bare and the bank is empty til DP gets his pay cheque. It just means we have to eat all the horrid stuff in the cupboards rather than me popping out to Asda every day to buy Nigella's ingredients.

As for the five day difference, unfortunately it wasn't written down anywhere, although i did have 2 scans in 2 weeks, which i could always put forward with my plea?! I deffo know the date of my LMP tho because i had to have my coil taken out which was on the second day of my LMP so i'm 100% certain of the dates!

It only makes me roll my eyes even more at the incompetence of the government of this country. FGS!!!

Jarm - perhaps you should be trying to stay up a bit later to get your body clock back into sync so that you can wake up at the same time as me (roughly) and that's between 8.30am and 10am. I normally force myself out of bed so i can watch Jezza at 9.30. I feel guilty if i sleep past 9.30 lol.

Aiki - 10 days overdue?! Ugh, you must be going NUTS!!! Glad you did your research and went there forearmed. It saves you getting stressed and/or walked over.

Sparkly - sorry you feel fobbed off by the consultant. I know tube feeding him formula once a day isn't ideal, but i spose it's better than him being back in hospital, eh? At least you can still BF him and wont have nipple confusion to deal with too. Good luck for the next couple of weeks and lets hope his wait starts to go up in leaps and bounds.

Lizzie - Congratulations!!!! Sorry you had a bit of an ordeal with the birth. Please share your story with us - we always love reading the stories! Oh and pics ASAP please!!!

Well i've reinstalled windows and the laptop seems to be running much much quicker now. I'm still having to tweak it around a bit tho (as you do) because i've had the same windows install on this laptop since about 2005 so had built up all sorts of crap on it!

Rest well, ladies. See you in the morning!

Help! I hope some of you are still up. I have had a really hard last couple of days. I have been having contractions since saturday night they were a bit on off but have been constant for the last 28 hours. I had a show last night about 24 hours ago. I have been into the hospital and they said I was in the latent phase and have not started dilating. I'm not a wimp but I don't know how much longer I can cope. I'm trying baths, tens machine, diff positions, birthing ball, resting etc.
Getting a bit worried I can't do this.

AnnainNZ · 21/11/2007 00:50

Sorry to hear this Fiona - you must be getting so tired. You WILL get through it, i promise - I am the wimpiest wimp ever when it comes to pain and I got thorugh labour and owuld do it again tomorrow, honest! I didn't go through days of "latent phase" though. FOr what it's worth, the time I felt worst in labour was 10 hours after being induced when they told me I was still 0cm dilated - I just felt it was going nowhere. Once "proper" labour kicked in I felt better (I know that sounds crazy, but I did have paim relief once the labour kicked in!). I don't really havfe any suggestions, obviously rest as much as you can but I don't know how feasible that is. Just wanted to reply to you - hope things are progressing.

RGPargy · 21/11/2007 09:42

Hi Fiona

Good luck with your impending labour and birth. I hope you have managed to get a bit more comfortable (in the circumstances!).

No advice i'm afraid, but you WILL get through it, i promise.

Thinking of you!

Fiona - Thinking of you today sweetie. You must be knackered. I can't offer any advise apart from to remember that it will end and you'll have a wonderful sniffable bundle at the end of it.XXXXXXXXXX

littleoldme · 21/11/2007 10:16

OMG - that should have course been advice, not advise

RGPargy · 21/11/2007 10:17

tut tut LOM - pg brain, perhaps?

OP posts:
JARM · 21/11/2007 11:21

Morning all.

Another really crap night here, to the extent I dont think I really slept at all. Went back to bed at 8am and slept til 9.45am so thats the longest Ive had for about 4 days now!

Just been for a walk along the beach as its not such a bad day here after a week of non-stop rain and it was great, just tired out now!

Midwife appointment this afternoon - oh the joy, I keep hoping at each appointment it will be the last time I see them with a bump, but no such luck so far!

My friend who was induced yesterday had baby Amelia at 11.30pm last night and all seems ok although daddy is tired already apparently!!!! 8lbs 2oz.... good weight for being her first and she is a tiny little thing!

Well, I think thats about it for now, will report back this afternoon after midwife appointment, not that I think there will be any news to tell!

Hoep you are all having a good day x

RGPargy · 21/11/2007 11:31

Hi Jarm.

Sorry you are still not sleeping well. I'm not either if it's any consolation!

Congrats to your friend and baby Amelia. awww how lovely.

Good luck with your mw this afternoon.

Nothing to report here either, except we have people moving into a house over the road. Yup, my life really is that dull at the moment!! Think i'll go to Asda in a mo to get out into the real world and spent my last couple of quid on a loaf of bread, teabags and donuts.

See you in a bit, peeps!

ok, im officially fed up.

was feeling quite good after my walk on the beach this morning, but am back to grumpy old self again!

DD1 has just gone to nursery, DD2 is asleep, and im just waiting for DH to get back so I can pop to town and then midwife. Do you think if i beg she will give me a sweep?! I know im not 40 weeks yet, but damn it, i cant carry on like this.

I wouldnt mind so much, but im in constant pain now, right round the lower bump and lower back, it doesnt go away!

Anyway, have straightened my hair, applied perfume and a bit of mascara and lippy - feel presentable for the first time in months so maybe baby is waiting til i look after myself a bit better before making his appearance - maybe he doesnt want to see scary looking mummy!

I know im rambling, im sorry..... really must get out in the real world more often, ive turned into a complete hermit who is only happy at home or my dads! (At least dads is closer to the hospital!)

Started a thread in childbirth yesterday about getting out of hospital ASAP - gonna speak to the midwife today about how soon i can get out - would love to go in, pop him out and come straight home - no matter what time of day! I dont even want to make it to the ward!

Morning Peeps. Sorry you are in the dumps JARM. Hope making yourself look gorgeous has cheered you up.

RG - Happy donut shopping. It is def a case of pg brain

I've just been to meet one of the girls from NCT which was nice. Now I'm going to light a fire and curl up on the sofa. I'm totally buggered.

Have nice day everyone.

sparklygothkat · 21/11/2007 13:43

been and picked up the dreaded formula today from the chemist. Its a huge amount of bottles. I am going to try compressions till friday and see whats happens, I don't want to give this formula..

RGPargy · 21/11/2007 13:58

Afternoon all

Loopy - Yup, i totally agree. I am indeed a sad muppet!! Think my muppetry stems from the fact that i dont go out anywhere or see anyone on a daily basis and dont have any friends who are in the same position as me (have you started with the violins yet?!). When LO comes along tho i will FORCE myself to get out and meet people. I will be totally out of my comfort zone, but hey ho. Needs must and all that!

Jarm - Sorry you are feeling fed up. Perhaps if you bribe your mw later she will give you a sweep?

Loopy - out of interest, how often to do sweeps actually work? Is it like 8 out of 10 or something like that? I'm booked in for one next Friday when i'm 40+3 and need statistics!!

LOM - I just got back from Asda with a few bits and bobs, including a pile of biscuits and a bag of five donuts, two of which i have just wolfed down. Pure bliss!! Oh and WE FINALLY HAVE TEA BAGS!!! YAY!!!! I haven't had a cup of tea in about 3 days and it was doing my head in! Tea and donuts = yayness!

Sparkly - What are compressions? Sorry to be ignorant!

Ugh, i just HAVE to sweep and mop the floors today. They are totally minging and if were to go into labour now, the midwives would declare my house a no-go area! I've just got no enthusiasm to do anything tho. I cant even be bothered to wash up last night's dinner plates. I feel so awful coz DP goes out working hard all day and i'm sitting here on my big fat pg arse doing sweet F.A. all day!! So much for nesting! I haven't had an inking of nesting for weeks now!! I'm so lazy

More donuts are needed i think.

OP posts:
JARM · 21/11/2007 14:44

Even more pissed off now!!!

Bloody hospitals and midwives.... why cant DH just let me have this baby at home?!

They apparently arent ALLOWED to sweep until 41weeks..... so no go area until 3rd December. Wont even be booked in for induction until 10th December when I will be 42 weeks.

Appointment next wednesday if no progress - and midwife seemed sure she will see me then..... thanks for nothing!

I want to go back to Colchester, to my midwife I had with DD2 (who i had for the first part of this pg too) she was fantastic and she would have swept me today, i know she would. She was so bloody lovely.

Right, am off to my bed for an hour or so, have told DH in no uncertain terms that sex 3 times a day is on the cards now whether he likes it or not, this once every few days obviously isnt doing the trick.

In fact, the way I feel today, Im so bloody tempted to send him on a hunt for bloody castor oil and I swore I would never do that again after DD2!

Sorry for the long ranty post, but midwife has pissed me off to the extream!

RGPargy · 21/11/2007 15:31

Sorry you're feeling uber fed up Jarm. It's so frustrating isn't it. Chin up tho girlie, you never know, it might not come to induction or even a sweep! Hang in there.

I've just swept and mopped the floors downstairs. Boo hiss!! I need to hoover the conservatory and the stairs now, but i might do the dishes first so it at least looks as if i've done something constructive lol.
