Hello...

Right - I haven't even tried to catch up with anything but I have tried to put a couple of pictures on my profile. They aren't very good but I need a technical expert to get the ones off the other camera!

Hope all is well with everyone and I will be back to catch up soon.

RGPargy · 17/11/2007 19:26

FCH - lovely pictures!!!! Thanx for sharing them with us!!

JARM · 17/11/2007 19:34

awwww FCH - I WANT ONE!

Things are tailing off, think ive just overdone it a bit today.... but to be fair I have been on and off chairs cleaning tops of fridges and door frames and windows! I think the nesting instinct has finally hit home! I wouldnt mind so much, but it was my dads house I was cleaning, not mine!!!

Just waiting for DD1 to go to bed - she is playing snap with DH at the moment and then going up..... cant wait because i need my bed!

fiona76 · 17/11/2007 20:55

Now getting contractions every 5-10 mins but not too intense yet I think something is happening.

JARM · 17/11/2007 21:11

Thought you might find funny (or you might not!)

Baby's Perspective on Sleep Training

OK, here's my situation. My Mommy has had me for almost 7 months. The first few months were great--I cried, she picked me up and fed me, anytime, day or night. Then something happened.

Over the last few weeks, she has been trying to STTN (sleep thru the night). At first, I thought it was just a phase, but it is only getting worse. I've talked to other babies, and it seems like it's pretty common after Mommies have had us for around 6 months.

Here's the thing: these Mommies don't really need to sleep. It's just a habit. Many of them have had some 30years to sleep--they just don't need it anymore. So I am implementing a plan. I call it the Crybaby Shuffle.

It goes like this:

Night 1--cry every 3 hours until you get fed.I know, it's hard. It's hard to see your Mommy upset over your crying. Just keep reminding yourself, it's for her own good.

Night 2--cry every 2 hours until you get fed.

Night 3--every hour.

Most Mommies will start to respond more quickly after about 3 nights. Some Mommies are more alert, and may resist the change longer. These Mommies may stand in your doorway for hours, shhhh-ing. Don't give in. I cannot stress this enough: CONSISTENCY IS KEY!!

If you let her STTN(sleep through the night), just once, she will expect it every night. I KNOW IT'S HARD! But she really does not need the sleep, she is just resisting the change.

If you have an especially alert Mommy, you can stop crying for about 10 minutes, just long enough for her to go back to bed and start to fall asleep. Then cry again. It WILL eventually work. My Mommy once stayed awake for 10 hours straight, so I know she can do it. Last night, I cried every hour. You just have to decide to stick to it and just go for it.

BE CONSISTENT! I cried for any reason I could come up with.
My sleep sack tickled my foot.
I felt a wrinkle under the sheet.
My mobile made a shadow on the wall.
I burped, and it tasted like pears (I hadn't eaten pears since lunch - what's up with that?)
The dog said "woof" (I should know. My Mommy reminds me of this about
20 times a day. LOL.)
Once I cried just because I liked how it sounded when it echoed on the
monitor in the other room.
Too hot, too cold, just right--doesn't matter! Keep crying!!

It took awhile, but it worked. She fed me at 4am. Tomorrow night, my goal is 3:30am.

You need to slowly shorten the interval between feedings in order to reset your Mommies' internal clocks.

P.S. Don't let those rubber things fool you, no matter how long you suck on them, NO milk will come out! Trust me.

fiona76 · 18/11/2007 11:56

Yes I'm still here things are progressing I think but very slowly. Contractions were every 2 mins at one point and very intense but have now tapered off.

Hopefully things will kick off again. I have the tens machine on level 5 prog A so I think thats pretty strong.

JARM · 18/11/2007 12:05

that is SO funny fiona!!! And oh so true!

Hope things kick off properly for you soon, take care and rest as much as possible xxx

revelyell · 18/11/2007 12:15

Morning Afternoon Ladies!!

Well, i was very disappointed to be waiting with no baby this morning. How inconsiderate of LO to not come out in the middle of the night!

However, i did wake up with a bit of a tummy ache in my lower abdomen. Dont know if it relates to very early labour, or maybe something else. Who knows. Then i got a very sharp pain in my lower abdomen on the left hand side that was so painful i just had to lay there. I've had breakfast now and i think my slight tummy ache has gone so i dont think it was anything exciting unfortunately!

Jarm - yay for sleeping through!! I kept waking up thinking "is this it?" and not even having any reason to think that! lol!!

Fiona - very funny hehehe

What are you all up to today? I'm thinking of walking to Asda today in the hope that something might happen. It's about a 20 minute walk each way so it could make things happen.......

It's still morning. The dog is doing much better now that the sedatives have completely worn off and the bleeding has stopped. I feel kind of sorry for her, not being able to have puppies now but apparently I'm the only one who feels that way.

No news here. Gearing myself up for a huge round of testing and fighting off induction on Tuesday.

Congratulations FCH and Revel! Lots of babies...

berrybliss · 18/11/2007 13:33

Hi everyone starting to feel more human!

But i feel like i have the luck of the draw with such a well behaved newborn who still doesn't cry!

I have managed to add a few pictures.

Oh and a little question, Those of you who have or who are breastfeeding do you wear a bra at night?

Hope everyones well i will catch up properly later.

silkcushion · 18/11/2007 14:15

Hi all,

Have just lost a lost list of updates, am not very happy at all!

RG- congratulations on DS passing his tests

Revel/ Easy/Muckers- Congatulations to you guys.

Could someone tell me how to egt to the birth stories on the birth announcements thread? RG?

Silk/Berry- Beautiful photos, thank you

I tried doing some work around the house today hoping to get things going but alas! I have never felt so well in a long time

Having lost my post earlier, I cant remember some of the things that I had written about, so for now, I hope y'all have a lovely evening.

BTW, could we just try and stick to the list please, there are so many queque jumpers here, RG and Jarm, you should be sending all the vibes my way as I am due before you two,

RGPargy · 18/11/2007 18:49

Hi LK

If you click on THIS LINK it'll take you to the list of all the topics that are available on MN. You'll see that near the top is the section about becoming a parent, pregnancy, ante-natal threads etc. Hope that helps!!

As for queue jumping, i'm taking no prisoners when it comes to getting this baby out! So ner!!
