Cape - sounds like you're having a lovely time as a couple together with your DH. Wish i could actually FIT in the bath with DH to enjoy that tho!!

Sorry you're not feeling great re the sickness and fanjo stabbings. Fairly normal at our stage tho i think!

RGP- maybe you and DP should fill the birthing pool and have a bath in there will it fit you both?? Could be a good practise run to see how long it takes to fill.

RGPargy · 13/11/2007 10:49

Oooo fiona, that's a great idea!!! Not sure what DS would make of it tho, walking in to find his mum and DP starkers in the pool filled with bubbles!!!

sarah- Great news about your mate.

Fiona - Sounds like things are getting ready. More babies more babies!!!!

Cape - Sounds like you and your Dp are having some top time together.
I also am not finding PG to be a magical time.

RG - If it was near Comic Relief time you could fill your pool with beans. If you gave birth in beans you'd raise loads of cash - >

Lots of niggles today. I've told my body in no unceratin terms that it should put up or shut up.

RGPargy · 13/11/2007 11:42

LOM - Beans??!!!! Good grief!!! Get back to bed woman!!!

littleoldme · 13/11/2007 11:58

Think you might be right RG. I only had about 3 hours sleep last night. Definately delirious.

JARM · 13/11/2007 12:01

hey girls - well nothing here! (suprise suprise!)

Antenatal appointment this afternoon - really cant be bothered though as is absolutely pouring with rain here and its cold! I want to stay indoors in the warm!

Slept a lot better last night - was about 12.30am when i dropped off, up to the loo at 1.30am and that was me til 6am! Unheard of lately! Still very tired though, this cold has really taken it out of me.

sarahloumadam · 13/11/2007 12:21

All go back to your lovely warm beds. I'm popping out for a few hours then coming home and having a hot chocolate and some apple pie.

littleoldme · 13/11/2007 12:46

Sarah - Can you bring me some ?

JARM · 13/11/2007 12:56

SArah - im back off to bed once i get back from ante-natal!

Im a grumpy hector today so dont want to drag yuo guys down with me, so will bow out and only report back this afternoon if there is anything interesting going on (HAHAHAHAHA)

Take care all xxx

RG- We have a corner bath so we have lots of extra space for my bump. I have to say that filling your pool full of bubbles (not beans! maybe some hotchocolate though?) sounds lovely- you should give it some serious thought.

It's cold and pouring rain here too- so much for my ambitious dog walks. Sigh.

Just about to go through baby things- put away and organise all of the lovely little clothes, towels, and bedding we've been given. Please note that I shall gaze at each individual item for hours and fantastise about the sweet little baby who will be using these things so very soon.

Quick question- at our hospital- they induce with a pill- not a drip- would I still be able to poss. have a water birth if I had to be induced this way?? Not expecting to be induced but just wanted to consider all eventualities.
THanks.

Easywriter · 13/11/2007 13:16

You can never be sure unless you ask the hospital about their specific policy but I think the answer is likely to be no.

If you're being induced (by administration of drugs) then usually they want to monitor you as the pattern of contractions differs to those you'd have if you went into labour spontaneously. It's tricky (though perhaps not impossible to monitor you in water). You could maybe agree to get out every so often to be monitored for a set length of time by way of a compromise.

Let's hope you're not induced though - easier all round if there's no medical requirement.

aikigypsy · 13/11/2007 13:47

No news here. Cramps and stabs and contractions slowed to nothing yesterday, but on the upside I did get a good night's sleep. My mother is coming today, which is probably a good thing. I had tons of sewing and knitting projects planned and have hardly looked at them. The one bit of sewing I did yesterday was a disaster. Oh well.

Hot chocolate and apple pie sounds like just the ticket -- it's raining here, too.

littleoldme · 13/11/2007 14:04

Cape - Check the NICE guidelines on intrapartum care. Alternatively, wait for Loopy - she'll know c'os she's ace

Easywriter · 13/11/2007 14:14

Thought you were in the US Cape, or am I just getting mixed up?

capecodder · 13/11/2007 14:21

Thanks Little.

Easy- No, I was living on Cape Cod before I moved to Cheshire 5 years ago.

From what I've heard from friends it seems that the general attitude and care in the the UK is generally better than that in the US- so I feel rather glad to be here.

RGPargy · 13/11/2007 15:03

Sarah - wish i'd read your post before i'd made my coffee. Hot choc would have been lovely!! (not keen on apple tho - bleugh!).

I've been out up the local high street in the freezing cold trying to get some bloody Gaviscon. I went into the chemist and they said yes, they do the Minor Ailments Scheme. Yippee, though I, I can get some more Gavi for free. So i filled out the form and then had to go into a consulting room with the chemist (??). She then asked me for my symptons. I said "I just want some Gaviscon!" but i still had to tell her my symptons. "Heartburn" says I (you dont say?!). She then said that she was going to give me some stuff that you take three times a day with water. So i told her again that i just wanted Gaviscon and i didn't even know if that stuff was safe to take when pg. She then said (which really REALLY peed me off!) "Oh are you pregnant?!". So i said "erm.... yeah. Two weeks to go!" I know i'm showing! I dont normally look like Father Christmas with a big belly!!!! Sorry for the rant!

Jarm - sorry you're a grumpy pants today. Cake will make you feel better.

Cape - ooooo a corner bath!! Sounds lovely!! Think i would prefer to have baby in that - at least there's no risk of flooding!!

Fingers crossed you dont have to be induced.

Aiki - enjoy the time with your mum

Hello I'm back!!!

DH is well trained - I can't believe he updated the thread the same night she was delivered.

Megan Juliet is really beautiful and I will get some photos uploaded as soon as we work out how. Maybe tomorrow.

Labour was natural and better than expected. Gas and air, yoga breathing and a bit of hypnobirthing all thrown in for good measure. Have to admit it stings a bit though

Congratulations to all those other new mummies and hello to all the little babies. hOpe the rest of you are bearing up ok.

RGPargy · 13/11/2007 15:20

Hi Silk!!!

Yay another positive story!!!! Well done and congrats on the arrival of Megan Juliet!!!

Hurry up with the photos please!! I need to do some baby stalking!!

Callum is now 5lb 4oz, so has gained 3oz in 5 days, which isn't too good Not sure whats going on tbh..

revelyell · 13/11/2007 16:04

oh Silk cant wait for your birth story, thats exactly how i am hoping mine will go but of course am getting last minute jitters that a bit of yoga breathing wont get me through!

SGK- waiting for news, lots of positive thinking that this is just a temporary dip..

doesnt it feel good to have the pool up RG! mine is in the spare room, itll be a study when all this birthing malarkey is over , ive put an old futon mattress on teh floor next to it, wired up an old stereo system for labour music (although not had many suggestions from you lot! is no one else getting in music to labour by?!) and stuck some candles there too and chucked polythene sheeting over everything. the control freak in me is satisfied that ive prepared all i can..

probably far too soon, i am starting to think about induction, as i am due on thursday. come on baby! dont want to get into any of that.. having said that though i was really surprised to find that one of the community midwives offers acupuncture to induce, which i have booked in for the 20th in case ive not popped by hten. im pretty impressed that im offered that on the NHS!

revelyell · 13/11/2007 16:05

sorry SGK x post for you. are they not giving you any answers or ideas?

RGPargy · 13/11/2007 16:44

SGK - sorry you've not had good news.

Revel - I did put the pool up, but now it's back in it's box again as it's not practical to keep it up at this stage! I would love to have kept it up and blown it up properly but it would mean moving one of the sofas and DS wouldn't have anywhere to sulk sit in the evenings. I plan to have my dark brown duvet cover underneath the pool as the laminate flooring is quite cold and i dont want this to cool the water down. Plus i bought a couple of cheap towels today too. I might give them a wash tho coz they feel a bit like cardboard!

DP and I have made a bet. I reckon baby will come at 38 weeks and he reckons baby will come at 39 weeks. Whoever wins the bit gets cups of tea/coffee made for them for a week. I seriously hope it's not me that making all the tea!!!

38 weeks today - nearly there!!
