A place for those of us finally moving on from the infertility boards to share feelings, questions, tmi and to generally support each other.

@tikha it started off worse at night but progressed to happening after pretty much every feed. If you can try raising one end of your baby's crib so that she is lying tilted with her head higher than her tummy.

TheGlitterFairy · 25/08/2021 03:00

Huge congratulations @SpyroC @ekam @ChicaXS @MGee123!! Amazing news your babies are here! @SpyroC so pleased you were able to avoid the CS as know you especially wanted to avoid if possible!!

Hope everyone is recovering well from the birth whether CS or otherwise!!

Sorry for radio silence here - all is well other than tired from general lack of sleep! Our baby boy is beautiful and has been putting on weight perfectly! He’s now just under 5kg/ 11lbs at 10 weeks (born at 34 weeks) so he’s been signed off by the health visitor now and we don’t need to have any more weigh ins unless we’re concerned about anything and request one. Such a relief!!

He had his first set of vaccinations 2 weeks ago so we have the second set in another 2 weeks - he was a v brave boy and for those worried about it, they were brilliant with him and he recovered well from it!

Sleep wise now, the longest he’s gone is 6.5 hours though this has been in the day not night; think in the night he’s gone about 5 hours once - but we’re getting there. I must say I’m looking forward to the time where no night feed is required esp as I’m up now for his night feed and he’s only taken 80mls before falling asleep. Ho hum!!

Can’t recall who said about a whats app group - I’d be happy to join one as everyone on here has been brilliant all the way through from before treatment last year through to now! Just so thrilled that everyone is doing well and the babies are finally here after such a very long journey!

Stay strong everyone. Someone said to me recently that if you have a dreadful day with the baby, just grit your teeth and get through it and tomorrow is another day that will be different again. X

Hi all
Lovely to read how everyone has been getting on. Thanksto those who have had tricky spells and hope all is on the up now.
I had csection as planned last week and currently sat holding 6 day old baby girl Smile
I would have preferred not to have csection but as it turns out growth scans were almost spot on and she was over 99th centile at 39 weeks so it was the right decision for me. Recovery has been ok so far - I was out of hospital within 36 hours and am reducing my painkillers now after nearly a week. Still taking it very easy with all activity as don't want to set the healing back by overdoing it and making the whole recovery process longer.

tikha · 26/08/2021 12:25

@sazzt congratulations on your new arrival
@TheGlitterFairy nice to hear that the intervals get longer. Vaccination wise did the baby get the BCG vaccine?

Has a WhatsApp group been set up already?

SamoyedFan123 · 26/08/2021 13:07

Congratulations @sazzt, how much did your baby weigh in the end? My growth scans were saying 99th centile but turned out he wasn't quite as big as that (although plenty big enough at 8lb 12oz at 38+4)

@TheGlitterFairy glad to hear that your little one is doing so well now xxx

sazzt · 26/08/2021 13:09

@SamoyedFan123

@TheGlitterFairy glad to hear that your little one is doing so well now xxx

9lb13 @ 39 weeks! Growth scans were nearly spot on for me.
ekam · 26/08/2021 19:36

Congratulations @sazzt and @MGee123.

Despite various Csections and challenges at the beginning for quite a few of us, I’m so happy to see that we are all coming out of it well at the end and so many bubbas are here now, after the whole IVF struggle. We did good, ladies! Hoping to see the whole group celebrating once the last one arrives. I’ve lost track of the list so don’t know who’s last on the due date.

I haven’t set up the WhatsApp group yet but will do tonight/tomorrow. Will you guys PM me your mobile number so I can add you in?

I have so many questions regarding breast feeding. Baby seems to have a bottomless stomach. He would feed for 20 mins on each side, and then still finish 50ml top up if expressed milk. I’m trying to learn if I can just rely on boobs only but it doesn’t seem like it because whatever top up I give him he would drink it all.

SamoyedFan123 · 26/08/2021 20:05

@sazzt wow that's a lovely healthy weight! I was expecting a ten pounder since my scan at 37 +4 said he was 9lb 5 oz at that point. Was quite surprised when he was 'only: 8lb 12oz 😂 still that did enough damage on the way out so I'm glad he wasn't any bigger. My mum birthed me vaginally at 10lb 5oz - makes my eyes watery just thinking about it!

@ekam I think @MF1981 was last on the due date list maybe? I'll PM you my mobile number now. Have you spoken to your health visitor about the top up feeds? 50ml did Seb like a lot to be topping up. It won't be helping your silly to be topping up that much - you would be better feeding him more often to build your supply than topping up that much i would think (that is if its your aim to EBF).

SamoyedFan123 · 26/08/2021 20:06

@omg so many typos - trying to hold phone and type with one hand while feeding baby is a bad idea 😂
Sound* not seb
Supply * not silly

MF1981 · 27/08/2021 06:04

Hey ladies. Yes I’m last on the due list - c section currently booked in for 22nd Sept but this might be brought forward depending on next growth scan as one twin has dropped below the 10th centile.

SpyroC · 01/09/2021 16:59

Congratulations @ekam it's so amazing after all these years isn't it! I'm praying my periods don't return for a while to help my endometriosis out.

Congratulations @ChicaXS how did you get on with the noises? My baby grunts a lot on her sleep too. I am also breastfeeding.

Congratulations @MGee123 I also had a episiotomy and at 6 weeks it's not at all painful. I can only feel it if I touch it. Sorry to hear about the haemorrhage I had a border line haemorrhage but fortunately that just required me to be on a drip for a few hours though that was an ordeal in itself (long story!)

I've had a right old journey with breastfeeding. So tough!

I'll PM you my number as soon as soon as I remember how to @ekam 😂 I'm not on MN very much these days so I'll be far more responsive on there! Xx

@MF1981 @MGee123 how are you both getting on? X

MGee123 · 03/10/2021 10:47

Hi @SpyroC! We're good thank you. How are you doing? Our daughter is nearly 7 weeks now and growing/developing nicely. She started smiling the past week which has been lovely! Still sleeping okay most nights too and generally is quite chilled. We're feeling rather lucky but equally just waiting for it to change! She has started to get a bit overtired in the daytime sometimes now so we're just working out how to help her get to sleep before that happens. Hope all is well with you x

MF1981 · 08/10/2021 06:51

Hey. Sorry for the radio silence! Thanks for asking @SpyroC. My twins were born on 17th September, slightly earlier than planned, via a traumatic c section. I ended up really poorly having lost almost 5 litres of blood and my little girl wasn’t breathing when she was born. But we’re home now and getting there. It’s tough going with 2, especially as I’m still struggling with my recovery, and bonding wasn’t instant because of me being so unwell. Hope you’re all doing well.

SpyroC · 11/10/2021 09:43

@MGee123 I'm glad your doing well. The smiles are the best! We have the same with sleep. Since about 2 weeks she sleeps really well at night but not during the day & is often over tired by late afternoon. At least we all get a good nights sleep though-can't complain! X

Oh no @MF1981 I'm so sorry you had a traumatic birth. That sounds really scary. I'm glad to hear that you are getting there. I found it gets easier & easier each week for the first 6 or so.

You guys should join us over on WhatsApp. If you message @ekam she can add you. X

Thanks @SpyroC - I don’t know how to message @ekam?

SamoyedFan123 · 11/10/2021 13:24

@MF1981 congratulations on your twins' arrival - I'm sorry it was a rough one. Your experience sounds very similar to the one I had with my twins - if there is anything you need or just want to chat about it feel free to message me. I'm still getting over my experience 2.5 years on, but it does get easier xxx

MGee123 · 11/10/2021 19:19

I missed the messages about what's app! Equally not sure how to message @ekam but will try so I can join!

So sorry to hear your trauma @MF1981 but so glad you are all okay now. Will you be able to speak about the birth experience with someone? I know I am still struggling thinking about our experience and we are booked to discuss it with the hospital soon. You must be exhausted looking after twins. Hope you have some people around to support x
