@MF1981 congratuations. 20 weeks is am important milestone and its lovely to hear that its a boy and a girl

TheGlitterFairy · 28/05/2021 07:43

Morning everyone - happy Friday!! Hope everyone is doing ok!

@SpyroC we’ve narrowed the buggy down to 2 now - uppababy vista and ani candy peach. Am favoring the uppababy at the moment. We need to measure up the 2 of them with new car (!) to just make sure all can fit in, which I’m sure they both can. I candy is a bit heavier so I think a lighter one may be better plus it’s a funky colour too!! 😂😊

We got the nursery done also thanks though ended up paining it ourselves as the decorators disappeared off the face of the earth. Am really pleased with it though! Just need curtains now and furniture but we’re getting there!

@tikha the JL appt was excellent thanks and so informative! We’ve a wish list going to remember what we looked at and will be purchasing this week I think once decided on all!!

@MF1981great news on your 20 week scan!! 🙌🙌🙏🙏 and one of each too - very clever!!!

All ok here - just under 32 weeks now and baby is moving more than ever now!! I think he/ she can’t wait to get going in the real world!! I’ve another scan today to check on the location of the 2 placentas and baby position as placenta previa and breech at the last 3 scans since week 20, so if it’s the same they’ll basically switch my maternal request c section to a medically required one and hopefully we can get a date booked in!! DH is allowed to attend the appt / scan now which is great news! And I’ve a midwife check this aft also so it’s all go today!
I feel as though the bump is growing every day at the moment - goodness knows where it’s all going to fit in the coming weeks 😂
Sleep is still a bit patchy too but it’s been like that all the way through so I think that’s just how it is for me.

Anyway! Hope everyone else is doing ok!

Oh! We started NCT online this week too with a marathon 3 hour session on zoom. Was hard going after being sat on calls all day anyway but the group we have seem lovely and some are super close by so hopefully that’ll be good when babies are born and we’re on mat leave!

Have a lovely weekend everyone - here’s hoping for some sun!

SpyroC · 31/05/2021 09:15

@sazzt I can imagine! That's why we went for the weekend NCT. Possibly a mistake now-all day online 🙈. A lady on my yoga group who is a bit further ahead just finished hers and said it was really good online so 🤞🏻

@tikha how did your GD test go. I had one a week or so again & it was so dull sitting around for 2 hours. I got light headed an hour in too. As I suspected all was well. I feel the same re the government especially with the new variant. It's worse than it's ever been in my school plus the kids now seem to be developing. I don't work in a "hot spot either". The reason we can't have AZ now is because the data they've based the decision on largely comes from the states and they use prize and moderna. They just don't have enough data for AZ in pregnancy that's all. I prefer how the AZ works. I need to research how this new one works as I would like to have it soon after Albany comes. I think we have to wait 6 weeks

@MF1981 glad to hear your scan went well 💙💗🥰. I had a low anterior placenta and thankfully it has "moved" by 2) weeks.

@TheGlitterFairy sounds like you looked for similar things on a pram to us. What did you go with in the end? They are both fab. The I candy peach is similar to mine in weight and size. I have a few options if my back plays up. Updating the car is proving to be a nightmare! Thought it would be straight forward! 🤦🏻‍♀️ what did you go for? I'm at the same stage re nursery too, though all the curtains I like only come in a super long length. Very annoying! You still doing your yoga? How did you scan go?

32 weeks today here (how did that happen 🙊) feeling good mostly though the tiredness has definitely returned. Like @TheGlitterFairy my bump is growing quickly and she's moving more consistently now (touch wood). I think I'm nearly all done. Just a few bits and bobs to finish this week whilst I'm off work for the last time before she comes 🙉. Getting very very real now! Xx

sazzt · 31/05/2021 10:18

Hi all! Approaching 28 weeks here and all well. She's getting more wriggly which I like as the movement is quite reassuring (even when it seems to be a nighttime disco in there!).

I have been spending lots of spare time sorting through and washing everything we have been loaned/gifted. We're really lucky, I think most essentials are now covered and we have enough clothes until 3m. Just need the odd few things (hats, muslins) and also a baby car seat. Choosing between maxi cosi rock and cabriofix - any views on these? We already have the base and the follow on 2wayPearl seat, hence only considering the two that will fit the base we have.

For those of you who have done the nursery - what sort of storage did you go for? Sorting through all the clothes and acquiring so much stuff in general has made me realise the benefits of getting the nursery set up sooner rather than later just to have somewhere to put everything! We will be using the box room so space is at a premium. Currently have zero baby furniture; will leave space for a cot and sort that later, priority now is practical storage - I am thinking maybe majority baskets/drawers might be easier than lots of hanging space as folding tiny clothes easier than hanging??

MF1981 · 01/06/2021 16:16

Thanks guys! @SpyroC my due date is now 10th Oct - I don't know how to amend the list.

@sazzt we've ordered the cabriofix as it's one of only a handful that fit on my pram but it seems pretty good in terms of the reviews. We've bought a chest of drawers to use as storage and to double up as a changing table rather than a separate changing table. We're also considering cots with a drawer underneath for storage and then some baskets/nice storage boxes on shelves as you say.

We've ordered a pram! Very limited on choice for twins so I don't know how you guys managed to make decisions with so much choice available!

ChicaXS · 01/06/2021 17:10

Hi all, so sorry for the radio silence. It’s been absolutely manic with the getting ready for the baby and work. I can’t wait for mat leave!

We are doing really well! 31 weeks tomorrow ! Baby is wriggling like crazy, loves to kick nerves I never knew I had too. He is measuring slightly big I think, my bump is more 8 months then 7 months! We go for a private growth scan in two weeks as I’ll be keen to see whether I’ll have a semi excruciating birth versus a ‘your f!@€$d giving birth to the size’ 😂 power is knowledge and all that....

I have been so last minute with the baby shopping. We still don’t have a nursery and we only started shopping last couple of weeks. We pretty much bought everything and delivery happens end of June as we will hope his nursery will be done by then (we can only hope) .

I found the pram the most difficult and I’m. Not the strongest girl and most peaks are heavy as hell. So we went for the silver cross which is lovely and light. I love the I candy peach but god it’s heavy!

We stuck to buying newborn goods for now and we’re pretty much set. I am planning to breastfeed so hoping to purchase those goods soon and then we can square away the final inventory! I am hoping for a relaxed July before the baby comes so I can just bask in the sun and enjoy my husband slave on me for one more month. I know I’ll miss this lol.

I am not taking the vaccine until post breastfeeding. Respect to all taking it but for me it’s too new to confirm it’s safety for pregnancy . To each their own but I’d rather natural immunity at this stage then a vaccine. I have thankfully stayed precautionary and will continue to do so for the last ten weeks! I WFH so for me it makes sense to wait.

Hope everyone is doing well so good to catch up on this thread! X

MGee123 · 02/06/2021 19:47

Hello everyone!

30 weeks here and feeling surprisingly good! Bump is still a bit small but plenty of movement and midwife isn't worried, next appt is next week. I have got quite impressive cankles with the increase in temp this week though, which aren't the nicest sight! They deflate when I elevate them though so not worried. I'm still managing to run 3 times a week at the moment which I'm really pleased about, but can feel I'm on my last legs and think I will be hanging up my trainers in another week or 2!

We've cracked on and got quite a lot of stuff bought now, although still haven't got a car seat or buggy. We're going to try some out again tomorrow so hoping that will solve that. Our Moses basket arrived today and I love it!

Haven't started nursery stuff at all yet so that will be the next project! I agree @sazzt re the need for space to put stuff! We're also using our (only) spare room which is fairly little. I would personally go for a chest of drawers rather than a wardrobe - you'll get far more in it their stuff is so tiny and doesn't need to be hung up, and you can change her on top to save your back. We're going to leave the cot for now as well and just get a chest of drawers and a comfy chair with footstool I think.

NCT starts end of the month for us. A little sceptical about it but I'm sure we'll get into the swing of it!

Lovely news about your twins @MF1981 - one of each, how perfect! Congratulations 🥰

MF1981 · 02/06/2021 20:34

Thank you @MGee123 ! I was going to ask if other people had massive ankles as well! Mine are huge in this warm weather!

TheGlitterFairy · 16/06/2021 09:55

Hi everyone, just thought I’d let you all know that we had an early arrival of baby on Monday night and we’ve had a baby boy!!! Name to be decided (today!!)!! He was born by emergency c section in the end after I had a bleed on Monday afternoon. After a couple of hours of monitoring me and baby, they thought there was a strong possibility of placental abruption coupled with the placenta previa so didn’t want to sent me home in case that was happening so decided that as we were just past the 34 week mark, it was better to deal with him being a bit earlier than to wait and see!!

He’s absolutely beautiful and we’re thrilled that he’s here!!! He’s currently in NICU as having a bit of breathing trouble given his gestation but was 5.1lbs so they’re really pleased with his weight for his age. He started to have some milk / colostrum yesterday - hand expressed - a new experience (!) and tolerated it all well so hopefully will be able to take on more today and will build his strength up!!

So excited to be able to share our news and I wish everyone well for your up and coming births!!! Will be looking out for updates over the coming weeks and months!!

Thanks for this group btw - it’s been a life saver over the months while we were all going through treatment to get to this point. Stay strong and much love to all xx

ekam · 16/06/2021 10:15

@TheGlitterFairy wooow massive congratulations to you and family and welcome to the world, baby 👶❤️. Such great news!!! I hope you both are doing well and get to go home soon-ish whenever baby is ready ☺️. Brilliant news for the week!

Sorry everyone I’ve been radio silence - I don’t get email sent to let me know if there were new posts, not sure why so haven’t checked on it for a while. Glad to hear everyone else is doing well too and we are getting ready for the home stretch. I still haven’t packed my hospital bag yet, probably should start given baby is due in 5 weeks

sazzt · 16/06/2021 10:23

@TheGlitterFairy ahh congratulations what lovely news, hope you are all doing well and that little man goes from strength to strength so as to be able to go home with you soon!

Hope everyone else is managing ok in the heat... any tips for keeping cool very welcome, I am finding it tough. Feet keep swelling up and so hard to sleep too 🥵

Leala20 · 16/06/2021 10:55

@TheGlitterFairy massive congratulations! Wonderful news. Hope you’re doing well and will be able to take him home soon.
I also haven’t received any notifications so sorry to miss your posts.
@MF1981 that’s beautiful news about your twins.

I have reached full term so anytime now really. I need to revisit my hospital bag and wash baby clothes for the baby bag ( didn’t want to do it earlier as would collect dust unless this doesn’t matter maybe I am overthinking?). I am trying to keep positive about the birth but worrying the more I am reading about it as there’s is all the decisions to make vitamin k etc. Infertility has made me a warrior for sure so I need to lax a bit as tend to latch on the worst case scenarios and they preoccupy me. I have just bought the hypnobirth online course maybe this will help me settle a bit! At the same time I am so happy every time I feel her little feet wriggling on the left hand side of my tummy and cannot wait to see her.
@MGee123 I have continued to run as well and to be honest I sometimes feel more comfortable jogging that walking the same way in the evening! I only keep it to 3-4 times per week and always morning when I have more energy. I am surprised I have been able to continue until now but hope this helps with the birth.

Leala20 · 16/06/2021 10:57

@sazzt what has been helping me is watermelon with lime squeezed over it. It’s on my list for the hospital too:)

MGee123 · 16/06/2021 14:30

Oh my goodness @TheGlitterFairy! Congratulations! First one over the hill! So pleased for you and glad your boy is doing well. Sounds like all things considered your making a brilliant first start.

@sazzt I'm finding regular foot dunks for 10-15 minutes in cold water is really helping with my foot swelling and to keep me cool.

The watermelon suggestion sounds yum @Leala20 👍 how exciting it's nearly D-day for you! Hope you are able to stay as relaxed as possible, and hopefully she doesn't keep you waiting too long.

We really need to get a move on with getting nursery stuff sorted, and also need to buy a new car 😬 although we'll manage with what we have short term if needed. But 2 adults, 2 dogs and baby and a buggy won't fit in our current ones! We have decided on a car seat and buggy though - woohoo! So will order those soon. All things considered I'm still feeling pretty good. Hope you are all doing well too x

MF1981 · 16/06/2021 15:50

Congrats @TheGlitterFairy !! Hope you both continue to do well! So exciting that people are starting to get close to due dates now! I’m 23+3 now and am anaemic so starting iron tablets from tomorrow to help with that. I hear you all on the swollen ankles too!

SpyroC · 16/06/2021 17:26

@TheGlitterFairy yaaay that's amazing! Congratulations! 💙💙 well done on expressing at 34w too! I remember our OTDs & due dates were only 1 day apart 🥰. I hope his stay in NICU is short and that you are recovering well. A lady in my yoga group had hers at 34 too so I've been conscious this can happen so this is another reminder to stay on the ball!

Gosh we've all been so quiet (I do not know where times goes) so it's lovely to see such good news. I hope everyone is well. 34w here & 5 weeks ish until induction 🙊.

@MGee123 we had to buy a car too. We share one as we don't really need 2. However, we've ended up keeping one & getting a second (big unexpected expense there) but we're through that now, thank goodness. Car stuff is not my thing!

I am also finding the heat challenging and am finding I'm exhausted come 4pm! I can see how people get to "just get the baby out" come full term! I'm struggling to stay active in this heat so hats off to those of you still exercising!

I have now finished my nct course & tbh I don't think it was worth the money. I was disappointed by how spread out everyone was & even those closer by don't seem very chatty. I thought most people did NCT for the social side! I remember somebody on here called it "buying friends" 😂. How have others found NCT? It seems very hit or miss.

@SpyroC I ended up not booking NCT and just going with the free classes the hospital offers. There isn’t face to face NCT near where we are so thought it isn’t worth it after reading loads of review. I’m happy to join a WhatsApp group if we set up one here - I heard it’s helpful chatting to other mums around the same due dates as babies will have similar milestones and also you have someone to chat to at witching hours ☺️.

I’m having the growth scan this Friday. So excited to meet the little one again. I hope they turned - I feel like they did based on the movements I can feel but can’t be sure 100%.

Oh and don’t know if I told you guys but we did go for a private growth + 3D scan at 28 weeks - it was in and out and it felt like they just want to get some good 3D photos and didn’t do much about the “growth” part apart plotting your measurement on a chart and told us baby is well. The photos were lovely though and not as creepy as I thought they would be, so if you want some keep sake I would still recommend to go for it.

SamoyedFan123 · 16/06/2021 19:25

@TheGlitterFairy Huge congratulations! I'm so glad you're both safe and well. My twins were born at 34 weeks due to a placetal abruption too so you've done absolutely the right thing getting him out early - that San awful experience. Mine were around 5lb too and spent just under 3 weeks in NICU - they were really well looked after and went from strength to strength - you'll have him home with you before you know it!

I'm so sorry I seem to have accidentally dropped off this thread - this is the first notification I've had from it in ages. I have no idea how to update your post @SpyroC but I'm now 36 +4 and my baby is ginormous (he's 9lb already 😳) so have an induction (VBAC) booked for the 28th June. I've also had some issues with antibodies in my blood which mean my baby is at risk of HDN but due to some NHS cockups I'm currently waiting on the result of a blood test to determine how bad it is and whether my delivery needs to be brought forward and done in a NICU unit as baby might require an immediate blood transfusion 😕

I'm also in the new car club - we had to buy a 7 seater in order to find something with enough isofix points to accommodate 3 full size car seats.

I hope everyone else is having a less stressful time of things!

tikha · 17/06/2021 07:08

@TheGlitterFairy congratulations 👏. So glad both you and baby are doing well.

Am in last week of work and finding it too hot. Thank God for annual leave

31 weeks..

SpyroC · 17/06/2021 16:42

@ekam there are some good free courses out there! At my 3D scan the consultant said he wouldn't do the growth measurements as he didn't want to cause anxiety if they are different to my nhs scan (ended up being the day before due to reduced movements) but I insisted! It's interesting as they aren't 100% accurate. I was a bit underwhelmed by the whole experience but do love the photos. Next time around I think I'd go to somwhere cheaper that does literally just get pics. Mine was back to back at last scan, I felt she turned, I can feel her much more again so I suspect she's turned back 🤦🏻‍♀️

Nice to hear from you @SamoyedFan123 that does sound stressful. I do hope everything turns out ok for you .🤞🏻 the bloods bring good news but if not focus on the fact that they have a plan, it's more than likely just a precaution. My induction is entirely precautionary too. I was contemplating pushing back but do t think I have the nerve. Today they have sent me appointments go after the latest they want to induce me 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️. Oh and I've also heard a lot of women being told their baby is big and some of the time they are completely wrong so you never know!

It does seem a shame to lose touch after all this time as @ekam says. We will at the very least make a Mumsnet follow on. What are people's thoughts? X

@SpyroC it would be good to keep in touch - I can learn from you all! My due date is officially 10th Oct (don’t know how to amend the list) but likely to be a c section around 20th Sept as long as they haven’t already arrived by then.

ekam · 18/06/2021 14:07

Just had our 36 week growth scan. Was such a terrible experience. The people didn’t communicate much with us during the scan, asked a couple of concerning questions (if we smoke - no, if we were low risk for Down syndrome - yes) and then kept whispering to each other in a language we couldn’t understand. She then said the femur length is short but it could be genetic. We also didn’t want to know the gender and she told us to look away a couple of times and didn’t tell us when we can look again, and one time I think she forgot to tell us to look away and I now think it’s a boy (of course I can’t be sure but husband thought the same), just well annoyed because we wanted the surprise. She then finally asked a consultant to come in to double check the femur length which is in 6 centiles, consultant said no worries but of course I can’t help googling and thinking of the worst. It was also a very painful scan on the tummy skin - not entirely sure why 😅. Hope everyone is having a better day than I am
