Old thread here.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
smcg · 02/11/2007 13:41

well they do in a "I swallowed a football but still look glam" way.

scampmum · 02/11/2007 13:51

Are they really pregnant or do they just have prosthetic bumps? (clue: correct answer is definitely not the first one.)

(Kind of) On the topic of ex-bump pregnancy giveaways I've just got my delightful breastfeeding cleavage-vein (pulse and all) back. At least my new massive boobs have filled out my breastfeeding stretchmarks a bit.

Top tip for all first-time bfers - when you express to go out and get hammered socialise responsibly, DO take your pump with you and DON'T just get pissed distracted by intellectual conversation and decide you can't be bothered because a) after a while even alcohol cerebral stimulation won't numb the about-to-burst sensation and b) that's what I blame for my horrible boob-stretchmarks (though I did have some anyway because my boobs literally appeared overnight when I was about 15 - quite a testament to the power of wishful thinking).

Mollyfloss · 02/11/2007 13:52

All the modesl on Isabella Olivier look fake pregnant. Surely they just attach fake bumps to them...? Otherwise it's depressing that there are women that look that good pregnant I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with a pg brain. I keep forgetting things and I have become terribly clumsy. I need to stop spilling & smashing things!

scampmum · 02/11/2007 13:54

ps Sagitta, that is funny/lucky!

I wasn't pregnant when I left my wallet outside in the recycling for about five days. I haven't been able to work out whether it's worrying or reassuring that I knew it would be worth checking in there...

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2007 13:59

There are some women who look that good pregnant (and specialist modelling agencies -- you really need a genuinely-pregnant person to model maternity underwear or swimwear) .

But generally they are just prosthetically-bumped -- they did it to the contestants on the last series of Britain's Next Top Model. Or so I gather. Not that I actually watch it, you understand (in fact I genuinely didn't watch much of that series as the contestants were all deeply irritating. But I did see the maternity shoot one).

ToastAddict · 02/11/2007 14:05

Re: models, I got the Seraphine catalogue the other day, they were advertising some kind of underweary thing, so the model was topless, but had her arms over her boobs in a very discreet manner. Obviously had to actually be pregnant for the advert to work!

OK, so she was being discreet, you couldn't see her nips, but you could make out those lovely veins that seem to get more and more obvious day by day......

smcg · 02/11/2007 14:09

I am getting those veins too. Delightful.

EllieG · 02/11/2007 14:55

I;ll bear that in mind scampmum!

Am very glad some of them have fake bumps at least, because I was starting to be depressed at my (increasinly wobbly) self and thinking I was weird.

EllieG · 02/11/2007 14:56

Am now sitting at desk trying to subtly look at clevage to check out if have funny veins.

rainbowdays · 02/11/2007 15:57

Scorpio - happy birthday for your ds tomorrow, it is my dd's 3rd birthday today! Did not realise how close our babies were!

Denny185 · 02/11/2007 16:44

No funny veins but cleavage def substantially better than pre preg, unfortunately so is the size of my backside and tops of my legs, so not feeling v sex godess like!

Went to midwife yesterday, all well heard the HB which was v reassuring as still not feeling this LO move - poss coz its got so much blubber to get through this time.

Off to boby toning now in the vague hope of controlling some of the spread

Denny185 · 02/11/2007 16:45

oops that should say BODY toning

nORAYNonmybonfireplease · 04/11/2007 13:49

Argh, I must be mad, had a kiddies party on friday, 12 screaming girls and two boistorous boys dressed up and over excited for an hour and a half in my dining room
Then spent yesterday doing the shopping/putting it away (takes me ages, I get so OCD about it) hanging around a damp, dark cold field to see a fire!
Then when DP was quite happy to get up with the kids this morning I got up, came down and made a fry-up.
I am soooooo tired.

TLSM · 04/11/2007 14:08

had another little bleed yesterday I really think it is to do with lifting Max up and down on a Saturday I counted and I lifted him in and out of the car 8 times! as well as carrying him around TKMAX for the last 10 mins I weighed him this morning and he is 2stone 6lbs so although average for a little boy of his age still a right old lump to hefting around! I am so glad I have a scan next Saturday to see my Bud my DH is all for it now and even gave me the money for it last night bless him! Also I have bought one of those heart thingys Hi Bebe BT200 LCD, Fetal Doppler its like the Docs one! so that will make me feel loads better being able to check myself if I am worried

Denny185 · 04/11/2007 15:16

Have you tried training your DS, if he wants picking up can you try sitting down and getting him to climb up instead, and in the car try getiing him to start climbing in, then up on the seat and into his car seat (would put a sheet over the seat though as it can get quite messy). Did this with DD - had to start climbing in the opposite side of the car, then she walked across the seat while I followed in to coax her that final bit into the car seat. It might make things easier for when the next LO comes along aswell.
Friend of mine is incredibly organised and now has her 18 month old helping unload the dishwasher, load/inload washing machine and putting her toys away, I cant manage to get DH to do any of that let alone the kids!!

PeachyCosmicExplosion · 04/11/2007 15:51

Well baby is very active today! Could feel all the movements, and tried to wake dh up to feel them as they were close to the surface but lazy git wouldn't wake. But as it was so nice feeling it all, had a couple braxton hicks over the alst days which is when they kicked in with the others- the boys think its incredible as my stomach looks so huge during one LOL!

PeachyCosmicExplosion · 04/11/2007 15:53

TLSM- sympathies as know where you are with the lifting, ds3 wants it all the time and we cant explain why not as he cant understand so I'm having to be mean and hate it! Still have to life him in car, etc though and he has to be onreins every time we go out now as I cant chase after him (for any thread latecomers, ds3 is SN).

Hope the bleed is insignificant.

EllieG · 04/11/2007 16:09

Hey tlsm - hope all is OK x Doppler sounds fun though I would quite like one but DP not keen.

Happy birthday to your LOs scorpio and rainbowdays

Hello to everyone else and to peachy - still can't feel anything though my stomach is HUGE now and looks proper PG shape

PeachyCosmicExplosion · 04/11/2007 16:14

Ellie dont forget i'm almost 3 weeks ahead of ytou - yu'll be there soon

EllieG · 04/11/2007 16:18

True enough peachy - am just so looking forward to it, makes me very impatient. But LO will make him/herself known in it's own good time I guess!

Denny185 · 04/11/2007 16:26

Ellie I still cant feel v much, despite the regular pokes and prods i keep giving my stomach Im not the most patient person in the world

pad · 04/11/2007 17:21

Hi all! Not been on for a while as have been a bit all over the place! Had my scan a few weeks ago and all was well thank god! my due date was right 15th April. But started getting headaches about two weeks ago which kept getting worse and so had to go into hospital on Friday for all sorts of tests which was horrible. They found nothing wrong with me so am kind of relieved and have put it down to stress and hormones. Does anyone else get terrible headaches? I don't normally suffer from them. They are getting a bit better now especially since the doctor said I can take paracetemol with codeine when it gets bad.
