Old thread here.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Exactly the same as last time, I spent the first trimester feeling all virtuous and not missing wine ("I think I might be teetotal after I have the baby..." etc.), and now really miss it!

Hmm, that's started me thinking about pate and cheese.

smcg · 05/11/2007 14:40

Hi, I must try to find some yoga classes and do something as I am a lazy sod.

I am back in work and it is a shock to the system.

Does anyone get the Babycenter weekly emails? The 17 week email said that the amount of weight you put on during pregnancy is dictated primarily by your genes (so not cake then!).

Scampmum, hope you feel better soon.

TheMaskedPoster · 05/11/2007 14:44

oh - hope your ds2 had a lovely day on Saturday Scorpio

Speaking of wine, I had one glass on my birthday (went out for dinner) and it was lovely (my first one in over 4 months!) .... it did however take me the entire meal, and beyond, to finish it (and it was only a small glass) - oh how times have changed .

Welcome Aninha - hope the headaches are a thing of the past now.

Soph73 you will have to get lots of yummy nibbles (to balance out the lack of wine) for your girlie chats I think .

Hope everyone is well

Happy Bonfire day/night

x

Soph73 · 05/11/2007 15:11

tmp - what a fab idea .. although I may sneak in one glass of wine I really miss not being in England on Bonfire Night - obviously it´s not something that goes on here Used to love going to a big display

Soph73 · 05/11/2007 15:12

smcg - don´t do it stay and be a lazy sod with me

scorpio1 · 05/11/2007 15:14

and i go swimming too

ToastAddict · 05/11/2007 15:19

Soph - bet you don't miss the fireworks going off at midnight and waking you up though, do you

tmp and scampmum - I had a glass of wine at the weekend, I know it was a nice one as I had exactly the same stuff before I was pg, but it burnt my throat (side effect of acid heartburn I suspect) and tasted of vinegar

Fortunately, lager tasted pretty good

scorpio1 · 05/11/2007 15:21

We went out for a meal on friday, the indian to satisfy my food cravings. i really wanted a glass of wine but would feel so guilty, so i didnt.

we are getting married in jan and there is xmas and my bday and no alcohol!!

scampmum · 05/11/2007 15:25

I got married 6 months pregnant too. Had a couple of glasses. This time there's just Christmas and my 30th (@ 36 weeks). Nice timing.

EllieG · 05/11/2007 15:27

Me too, so you can stop preening (though tbh, the swimming is mainly to justify the obscene amount of cake and chocolate am eating)

Welcome Aninha

Have a confession to make - I have had one glass of wine a week on a friday since I found out everything was fine at 12 weeks. And I ate some pate the other day.

scorpio1 · 05/11/2007 15:28

x 1 000 000 Ellie!!!! wish i had the guts! (would love some pate and wine)

hee hee @ preening! i had 2 packets of crisps in a row just a minute ago

Soph73 · 05/11/2007 15:30

Just found choccie cake in the staff room

ToastAddict · 05/11/2007 15:31

So glad I'm not the only one giving in to my alcoholic cravings!!!

Same as you Ellie, only really just felt confident to do it, or want to for that matter, but am allowing myself 1-2 units a week.

The hard thing is making them "honest" units rather than my pre-pg "well, it may be a large glass but it's still 1 unit" units!!

Soph73 · 05/11/2007 15:32

ellie - thank god, me too, we may have to hide together before we get lynched Over here they think you´ve gone completely balmy if you don´t drink at least 2 glasses of red wine a week while pregnant - suits me

Soph73 · 05/11/2007 15:35

toastaddict - you´re right don´t miss being kept awake, although when we lived in the city fireworks were a regular occurrence. Canarians tend to let them off for any occasion. We live in a lovely quiet area now.

EllieG · 05/11/2007 15:37

Hurray! I'm not a social pariah!

TA - agree entirely - honest units are hard! I am making sure I use our small wine glasses for my 1-2 units rather than the bucket-sized pre-pg ones!

My doc is French and she said they advise that in France and said that not all French babies are born stupid. Where are you soph?

scampmum · 05/11/2007 15:39

What shall I have for lunch? Real craving for baked beans and chips but I don't know if I can be bothered to wait 20 mins for the chips to cook. Hmm. Toastaddict's name is making me hungry but the greedy outlaws who were here all weekend ate all the bread. And the cereal. And the milk. And didn't lift a finger all weekend but did manage to complain incessantly about the lack of caffeinated tea in the house (DH doesn't drink it) and the one time I accidentally left P's dirty nappy (all sealed up neatly) in 'their' (/the!) bathroom after her bath. GRRR.

Getting towards the end of the work day - well done to those of you who made it to work today!

scampmum · 05/11/2007 15:41

ps on drinking, Mum is a GP (er, with a 'penchant for alcohol') and constantly trying to thrust glasses of wine of me and regale me with tales of how much she drank whilst pregnant with me and my siblings.

EllieG · 05/11/2007 15:42

It's very late for lunch isn't it? I'm almost on to the next meal by now...but then, I am very greedy.

Don't like the sound of your outlaws scamp - tell them not to come again.
We had visitors last week and I was quite pleased when they left, though are lovely. When baby comes though, visitors staying are banned because I ain't having two children sleeping in our room for any length of time!

scorpio1 · 05/11/2007 15:44

Mmmmmmm......food [homer stylee]

we are having meatballs and spaghetti and garlic bread for tea

EllieG · 05/11/2007 15:50

We are having a chicken/bacon/chestnut (and assorted veg like leeks) pie I made with the leftover roast chicken last night in a fit of domesticity. I wouldn't normally talk about it but scorpio did and I am inordinantly proud of having made something as wholesome and hearty-sounding as a pie.

EllieG · 05/11/2007 16:00

Oh no everyone has gone quiet after my shameless food boasting.

scampmum · 05/11/2007 16:01

yes, is late for lunch but got up at 10 and had an extended breakfast that lasted till about 12! eating cold roast from last night whilst I think about it, but the cold is not helping the nipple situation.

Pie with roast leftovers! I've only just finished the clearing up!

Please could I have some of that spaghetti?

That should be it for a year or so with the outlaws. It's DH's brother and his wife. Last time they left on a Monday when we were both at work and left the flat in SUCH a state I nearly vetoed them ever coming back. Seriously, spilt sugar and cereal all over kitchen table, dirty plates and teacups in living room and bedroom, butter finished but wrapper left out on work surface. Should have posted in the 'am I being unreasonable...?' thread at the time - I was steaming.

Aninha · 05/11/2007 16:03

Well girls just loved to be here. Time to go now my legs are killing me, maybe too long sitting. I think is a good idea put them up and rest a bit. Take care all and see you later.

Soph73 · 05/11/2007 16:04

I´m in Gran Canaria ellieg & I love my midwife because she doesn´t make me feel like an outcast scamp - you poor thing no-one would get away with that in my house (lol). DH made enough dinner for 2 nights last night so don´t have to do anything when get home .... bliss!
