V1KK1M, I'm starting to think mine is a girl, Ii did think it at the beginning, but DP kept saying it was a boy, however, a lot of the 'old wives tales' point at a girl.
Does anyone know the heartbeat thingy?? is the galloping horse supposed to be a girl??

V1KK1M · 31/10/2007 13:55

And the sound of a train is supposed to be a boy?!?

DH would really like a boy and I think he might be slightly disappointed if it is a girl! We also would not be able to decide on a girls name!!!

Lorayn · 31/10/2007 14:00

Although according to mamas and papas old wives tales it's a boy1
old wives tales

Lorayn · 31/10/2007 14:02

I think so V1KK1M.

TLSM · 31/10/2007 14:20

Oh that would suggest I am having a Girl

demonaid · 31/10/2007 15:41

I'm a mixture of old wives' tales, although leaning slightly towards boy, I think. And two friends (both of whom have excellent guessing records well over 50%) disagree as well.

I seem to remember reading that the only old wives' tale that has any validity is the mother's intuition -- supposedly that's right more often than statistics alone would suggest (but still only slightly more, so not a good basis for going clothes shopping...)

TheMassacredPoster · 31/10/2007 15:55

I'm having a BOY!!!!!

well, according to that site I am anyway

hope all are well

Happy Halloween to us April Ladies!

Lorayn · 31/10/2007 16:14

Well with DD I had a little belly like I'd swallowed that went everywhere, but with DS I was HUGe, but all belly, so for an old wives tale it seemed pretty accurate.

siameez · 31/10/2007 16:34

Toast, just read your message about wanting to feel baby move - My first definite movement at 16 weeks happened when I rested the bottom of a mug of tea on my belly and something flipped over inside. I'm fairly sure it's the heat it can sense rather than pressure because it only seems to happen with hot drinks. It won't do it to order but does still happen regularly so maybe worth a try if you're prepared to be a bit mean (hey, maybe it likes it and is actually moving towards the heat...)

I just had an extra scan at 18 weeks and sonographer couldn't tell the sex Hoping for something definite at 20 weeks as I am way too impatient and want to know as much as possible! (Plus cuts down on debates over names)

demonaid · 31/10/2007 16:38

Yes, but my friend was huge but all belly with her DD and huge everywhere with her DS. And I was definitely huge everywhere with DS (I wondered if perchance I was carrying around another baby in my arse). Any old wives' tale has a 50% chance of being accurate for any one individual, and if you're in that 50% you get impressed by how accurate it is...

EllieG · 31/10/2007 16:38

V1KK1M - I have not put on just pounds, am officially a heifer and people keep thinking I am much further on than am. Hey-ho.

EllieG · 31/10/2007 16:43

That site says I'm having a girl - but not sure how reliable anything that looks at what bits if bread you're eating as an indicator

Lorayn · 31/10/2007 16:48

Guess what, I worked it out, finally!
I'm having a ................................................................

............BABY

EllieG · 31/10/2007 16:53

lorayn!

demonaid · 31/10/2007 16:59

Really? I'm rather hoping for a kitten, myself.

demonaid · 31/10/2007 16:59

Although DS would prefer a puppy...

Denny185 · 31/10/2007 20:46

OMG just been looking at the old wives tales and Im having .........................................................................................a girl and a boy, Ive got stuff from both lists!

Got scan in 3 weeks so will hopefully find out, if the baby plays ball and shows us all.

TLSM · 31/10/2007 21:11

siameez why couldnt they tell the babies sex only I have booked a private scan at 16 weeks because they said at the scan centre thats when they can tell oh I do hope its not a waste of money as my DH thinks its a waste when we have a Free NHS one at 20 weeks but I want to make sure all is ok and cant wait any longer

chipmonkeyPumpkinNorks · 31/10/2007 22:09

this is an old wives tale calculator which gives you a percentage!

demonaid · 31/10/2007 22:25

47% boy, 53% girl, apparently.

TLSM · 31/10/2007 22:32

47% boy 53% girl the same

EllieG · 01/11/2007 08:14

58% girl apparently. DSD will be excited. DP is adament is a girl, so am almost hoping for a boy just to stop him being smug.

ToastAddict · 01/11/2007 09:17

oooh, 82% chance of a girl! Which oddly, is what I "think" I'm having, based on absolutely nothing but gut feeling....

Will hopefully find out soon

Peachy · 01/11/2007 09:27

53% girl

agaiN!

Its a boyy. I KNOW its a boy!

Peachy · 01/11/2007 09:31

pmsl at this indicator for a girl

Your own mum's hair is NOT grey, bit is natural or dyed

last time I saw her it was dyed with grey rots- what does that make it?

Honestly!

And the cikness doesn't work- worst case I ever saw, mum had it twice and ended up with one of each.
