Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
KaybeeandZak · 28/10/2007 21:30

Hi everyone,
I am due on 16th April with my second baby. DS is 11 months (yikes!!)
I am at that stage where i am showing but look like I have eaten too much rather than being pregnant!!! Its so hard to find anything to wear...

chipmonkeyPumpkinNorks · 28/10/2007 21:47

Woollymummy, I'm afraid my answer to entertaining toddler while bfing newborn ended up being endless videos so Bad Mammy here! I have heard of some people getting together a biscuit box with all sorts of little toys and books in it that only comes out when baby is being bfed but I was never that clever or organised!

chipmonkeyPumpkinNorks · 28/10/2007 21:49

Oh, yes KaybeeandZak, I am in tracksuit bottom hell at the moment. I have one pair of black maternity trousers for work from Next which are nice but I have to keep hitching them up! But I definitely look pregnant. However I suspect that I usually look pregnant even if I'm not so that's not much different!

scorpio1 · 28/10/2007 21:51

i have a bit of money to spend on some maternity clothes, and there is some lovely stuff at crave maternity, but i can only afford 2 vest tops and a lovely pink wrap cardi....i know i will feel lush in them, and i do have other clothes to wear....arrgghh. but they are lush! Also in pregnancy and birth magazine there are loads of money off codes

scorpio1 · 28/10/2007 21:53

money off codes for maternity clothes

Isabella Oliver PB25

Blooming Marvellous PBT2

Seraphine MFV15

Jojo maman bebe PBB72

Crave P&B1

scorpio1 · 28/10/2007 21:54

all of those are 15% off, apart from Crave which is 20%. All valid until end dec, apart from BM which is Dec 16 and IO which is feb 08.

demonaid · 28/10/2007 22:13

Fortunately (in a sense) whenever I've looked at Crave they are sold out of the style/colour/size combinations I want, so I've saved a lot of money...

Piccalilli2 · 29/10/2007 08:32

Lorayn, when I had terrible headaches last week the doctor told me codeine is safe but can actually make headaches worse, although it should be OK if you only take it once. You can take paracetomol.

I am desperate to buy some more maternity clothes, nothing else fits now, but until dh gets paid I'll just have to manage with my one pair of jeans and one pair of work trousers. The Crave stuff is lovely but I'm having trouble justifying spending any real money as I know this is my last time

jaq39 · 29/10/2007 08:50

Good morning,
I got some nice maternity clothes in HM at weekend and they give you 20% off when you spend £40

scorpio1 · 29/10/2007 08:57

picalli, have you tried ebay? i get alot of stuff from there and you honestly wouldnt know it had been worn before-jeans for around £10 and tops sometimes less than £5.

im going to ebay most of my maternity stuff when i have baby, because i dont think im allowed any more

scorpio1 · 29/10/2007 09:10

i just bought the pink wrap cardi and a vest top from Crave does this mean i might even feel pretty again?? surely not!!

Sheds75 · 29/10/2007 10:09

morning all, hope everyone had relaxing and stress free weekend .

I've got some great jeans and trousers form ebay, they are brand new ex-boots stock from a seller called RealAid and all the money goes to charity, so everyone benefits

Redmonster · 29/10/2007 11:21

I have had to result to putting an elastic through my button hole and hooking it on to my button as I stupidly washed my big mama jeans last night and they weren't dry for today. I think I must formally admit defeat and get myself some proper maternity trousers. Has anybody found a good place to get thick opaque maternity tights?

rainbowdays · 29/10/2007 13:21

hI have had a huge tummy just appear, started knocking it on the kitchen sink at the weekend, anyone else gone enormous now already!?

I have another scan tomorrow, that will be the 5th one this pregnancy and totally un-necessary but rules are rules and I have to say I don't mind getting another look at the little bubba.

Mollyfloss · 29/10/2007 15:57

hi,

Just catching up again. After reading all oyur messages about weight I hve to admit to myself that I have been really bad. I have put on more than a stone since becoming pregnant... I really have to cut back on the sweet stuff. I never even had a sweet tooth before... I also need to eat carbs all the time. i'm just way too hungry!!! Anyone else starving most of the time?

scorpio1 · 29/10/2007 15:59

Me! i am always hungry, its just about what you choose to eat, IYSWIM? i have a treat or 2 a day, that way its not excessive and i wont put any extra weight on. i havent weighed myself, only think its a few pounds.

Mollyfloss · 29/10/2007 16:10

I wasn't that heavy to begin with (just over 8 stone) so even though I've put on a lot it's not too serious for now but if I continue at this rate it will be! In between meals I get ravenous at times and that's when I eat whatever comes in handy. I try my best to stick to cereal, cereal bars or bananas as they fill me up a bit but am so tired of them. Then I turn to the bad stuff... Has anyone any good ideas for filling but not fattening snacks?

scorpio1 · 29/10/2007 16:12

boiled eggs [dribble] cheese on toast

dont worry, you are small to satrt with. i weighed 8st 2lbs before having ds1, i put on 4 stone! my body obviously neded it, i have a hard job keeping any weight on. After i was back to 8 and a half stone. Then after ds2 i was 8 stone 10 and very happy.

Piccalilli2 · 29/10/2007 16:31

Mollyfloss, I was exactly the same with my first pregnancy, never had a sweet tooth before but was addicted to cake and haribo sweets all the way through and put on about 4.5 stone (eek!!). And I was a lot bigger than you to start with. I'm really hungry this time too but trying to limit myself to loads of fruit as it took me a long time to lose the excess weight and that made me very miserable so don't want to repeat the experience.

rainbowdays · 29/10/2007 16:34

Me put on weight - well yes! the morning sickness has put me on a grazing food to survive, but I am hoping the morning sickness eases really soon and that I can start eating less often. I am eating well some of the time, but still having the occasional chocolate bar, but I am refusing to get concerned about it. I will be more concerned if I don't get to lose it after the baby. I feel that as long as the baby is getting enough nutrients then that is all that matters.

Redmonster · 29/10/2007 16:55

I am the same...never had a sweet tooth and now all I can think about is cake! I've gained around half a stone which isn't too bad for nearly 18 weeks filled with brownies and cream cakes . Is there a guide that explains how much weight you should be gaining week by week?

Mollyfloss · 29/10/2007 17:11

It's so weird to get the sweet tooth. It's like being a child again. I got through the ms by snacking on crackers, dry biscuits, toast etc and the odd sugary snack. Since the ms subsided I crave sweet stuff yet still love savoury... it's the worst of both worlds! I've always had a huge appetite but this is ridiculous. I think I am going to start writing down what I eat as that will make me a bit more aware of what's going in on a daily basis. I'm also going to try to get good receipe's for bran muffins, brown scones and things like that which are at least healthier alternatives to cakes & crisps but they still fill you up! I have checked around and there doesn't seem to be any hard and fast rule about how much weight to gain by week. There is general guidelines per trimester (and I've gone way over for the 1st trimester) but my Doctor told me not to worry, that I am now a perfect pregnancy weight now, although that was a few weeks ago. I have another appointment tomorrow. I think I just have to be good from now on. Easier said than done!

Denny185 · 29/10/2007 17:29

I limited myself to fruit only inbetween meals with DS and still put on 5 and half stone. This time Im eating normal diet - gen pretty healthy, fruit snacks and the crap snacks (hmm haribo) but ive upped the amount of exercise im doing instead, dont know if its coincidence or if its working but by this stage with DS had put on 2 stone and so far only 1.

Lorayn · 29/10/2007 17:31

Well, went to midwife today apparently everything is fine, blood pressure is back to normal, bloods and urine are all fine, but daft moo at the hospital had sent my consultant appointment to the wrong address, so midwife called today to find out when it is, it's tomorrow!
Thankfully DP's mum has the day off work to take me cos my nearest hospital is quite far away and I dont drive, DP has saved most of his holiday up so he can take days ehre and there for midwife/hospital appointments etc but there is no way he could have got tomorrow off at such short notice.
Kind of pleased his mum is coming tomorrow though as she is going to be one of my birthing partners and I want her to be clued up as to the whole VBAC thing, she works at this hospital as well so I know she won't think twice at putting her foot down!
Anyway, fingers crossed my consultant is happy for me to go ahead with the VBA2C as I'd prefer not to have to fight for it, but we'll soon see.
Also midwife said the co-codamol is fine to take for my headache and that it's just all pregnancy, nothing to worry about, lol.

Ayomi · 30/10/2007 08:20

Hello all and thanks for your welcomes
I haven't been on for a few days but looking back over the thread I've been saying "me too!". Bump is now poking out, boobs are itchy as and I can't stop eating chocolate and cake - highly unusual for me. Mum has just convinced me to start swiming with her... Think shes trying to tell me something about how big i'm getting so early on....
Anyways nice to know I'm not alone
