tlsm, is the glucose thingy where you have to drink the bottle of glucose syrupy stuff???

EllieG · 16/10/2007 13:27

Lovely names tlsm - Thomas is our choice for boy too! Thomas James for boy and either Bethan or Cerys (means love in welsh) for girl, we're not decided. I liked Eva but my sister spoiled it by pulling a face and saying "Wasn't that the name of Hitler's girlfriend?". And now I can't think of it in any other way.

EllieG · 16/10/2007 13:27

Bit late now lorayn!

paranoidmummy · 16/10/2007 13:36

lol lorayn! i know what you mean. I felt wonderful with ds1 and 'glowed' the whole way through. This time i feel like a piece of poo. A big fat piece of poo at that hmph

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 16/10/2007 13:38

paranoidmummy - I am exactly the same. Looked & felt brill with DS, feel like 10 tonnes of poo with this one and that was before the cold

paranoidmummy · 16/10/2007 14:01

oh no! I don't want to catch one of those on top!!!!! I'm going to write to my local mp suggesting all pregnant women should be given their whole pregnancy off to sleep at hom!!! fully paid of course! i reckon I'd feel much better after 7 days of pure sleep!!!

PeachyFleshCrawlingWithBugs · 16/10/2007 14:03

Well we've got it down to Dominic george (Geotrge is DH's middle name, and the name of the man who adopted FIL) or Easter Rose (we'd have liked Rosie but Rosie Peach.... ). Alice-Rose was my paternal nan.

eva07 · 16/10/2007 14:04

hi elli,
eva is hebrew and means something like 'mother of all' or 'the one who gives live' (hope i translated this right...) so it's not too bad being an eva

had my scan today, risk for down syndrome now 1:4000 or something. beany had her legs crossed, so dp decided she must be a girl

no name for boy so far, nora martina for a girl (martina like my grandma)

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 16/10/2007 14:06

its funny because i am the same this time with Max i felt brilliant no MS no aches or pains this time round a completely different story!

Lorayn yes thats the one think i need it because I am a big girl

We were looking at Bethan for a little girl until my brother pointed out her initials would be BJ so swiftly changed our mind lol!

PeachyFleshCrawlingWithBugs · 16/10/2007 14:06

Ah, Hebrew- rather bizarre that hitlers GF was called that then! (Peachy still in Hebrew frame of mind as just done 1600 words on genesis 34 LOL).

Forgot also April for a girl if it were toa rrive in April.

PeachyFleshCrawlingWithBugs · 16/10/2007 14:07

TLSM My dads initials are BJ , one ex ws trying to find out what my phione number was to ask me out and thought that looked interesting enough in the phone book to cahnce

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 16/10/2007 14:09

oh I love the names George and Rose my DH turn them both down but am now happy with our choices as the mean quite a lot to us My great granmother was Louise and its my middle name and Dh and my great granfathers were Thomas

PeachyFleshCrawlingWithBugs · 16/10/2007 14:14

I like Thomas, Dh turned that down LOL! But with a surname like Peach ones choices become somewhat restricted (james? Summer? Amber?)

lemonaid · 16/10/2007 14:21

We aren't officially discussing names until after 21 week scan but I think we have a front runner name for a boy. I also have a front runner name for a girl but know DH isn't as keen, so if it is a girl I shall have to work on him .

DH also has a surname that rules out a lot of girls' names for us (anything that sounds like a plant or a colour is pretty much out, to begin with).

OP posts:
Piccalilli2 · 16/10/2007 14:25

You're all so organised with names already! We can't agree on anything at the moment, I like Jack for a boy and Chloe for a girl but dh won't commit to either. I shall have to wear him down.

I've been feeling dreadful too, this cold seems to be going round. I felt particularly awful on Friday night, dh was out, was looking forward to crawling into bed with a good book once dd was in bed....instead she vomited everywhere and I spent 2 hours cleaning her, me and the house up and trying to get her back to bed.

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 16/10/2007 14:28

Oh, we like Brooke too, I forgot that one. DP's surname is stone so we cant have amber either, she'd sound like a jewel.

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 16/10/2007 14:28

lol Piccalilli2 its always the way though isnt it! Bless her

sagitta · 16/10/2007 14:33

Hi everyone. Welcome to the newbies.

Had my scan on Friday - all is well - which somehow I found quite suprising. Don't know why. Not a very emotional moment as spent the time trying to lie on back to keep scan woman happy while looking for DD's packet of raisins...

Can anyone tell me when I get some sort of nuchal (?) test? Is that always a scan - or can it be a blood test? I was so convinced I was going to mc that I didn't listen at midwife's visit

PeachyFleshCrawlingWithBugs · 16/10/2007 14:40

everyone gets offered a blood test i think (MIUST be done between 15 nd 16 weeks) but availablility of Nuchal varies a lot- I wasn't offered one (at age 34) for example here, but others get it routinely.

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 16/10/2007 14:45

I was offered my blood test thingies at my booking in appointment, but I refused them all. There is no way I'm going to terminate the pregnancy so i'd prefer not to know and deal with anything thrown at us if and when it occurs.

I am only 26 though, so the DS tests arent offered as routinely. Friends of mine havent been offreed the same tests.

sagitta · 16/10/2007 14:51

I've looked it up and I don't get a nuchal test, despite age...

BTW, is anyone eating peanuts / pate etc? Last pregnancy (not in UK) the only advice Dr gave me was not to walk up stairs , so I ate everything I would normally apart from the dodgiest-looking street food. This time I don't know whether to stick to the rules or not...

PeachyFleshCrawlingWithBugs · 16/10/2007 14:59

I am eating nuts, the advice currently is actually they don't know, so unless oyu haev a nut allergy history there's no strict rules. Also, I am unable to have any dairy foods so limit my diet as little as possible, whilst adhering to all the stuff about fish / soft cheeses etc etc

Soph73 · 16/10/2007 15:05

sagitta - I ate everything with DS and he´s a perfectly healthy little boy so am of the opinion that as long as you don´t exist on brie & parma ham (you get my point )you should be OK. Is your DD healthy?

scorpio1 · 16/10/2007 15:16

I get a blood test, a week tomorrow. i only want to know any potential problem, i wouldnt act unless incompatible with life.

im going along with all the not eating stuff business doesnt affect me much, im not a great lover of anything on there iyswim.

Names: Blake William for a boy

have no girl names because we just know baby is a boy . if baby is girl, then i like Teale or Lacey. Our surname starts with a C so we are ok on most fronts.

Lorayn, i see you like Blake too
