For want of a better title, I'll go with Inzi's

Well then, today has all been a bit of a blur for me so far. Dropped ds off at nursery, then went to see mw at 10.30, she did a sweep (wasn't that uncomfortable by the way) and then pronounced that she thought he might still be breech so sent me off straight to hospital for a scan. Got there at 11.30, had scan.... and he is breech because she did me a sweep they don;t want to leave me over the weekend, so I am going in for a cs tomorrow morning 8am my mind is all a whirl, thought I would let you all know, and then I am going to repack my bags now I know what's happening. Will probably be in hospital till monday/tues if there are no problems. So much to sort out and do this afternoon now, must get on, will catch up with you all later, hopefully you will find this thread ok

Hi Folks

Well another little October bundle has arrived into the world. Zoe was born on Monday 1st October 22.59 weighing 8lbs 7oz.

Labour and birth didn't exactly go to plan, I was induced on Monday morning and ended up having an emergency section under General Anaesthetic. If you watch out on Holby City or ER you might see us appearing there because it felt like we were filming an episode for one of them as I was being run along the corridor from Delivery Suite to Theatre. From the moment an emergency section was mentioned to it actually commencing was probably about 5 mins, they didn't even move me off the bed from the delivery room to operate!

Zoe spent the first 24hrs of life in ICU and then had to have intensive phototherapy treatment a couple of days later but I am pleased to say she is doing really well. We got home last night and are now starting to enjoy our new life as a family.

I haven't had a chance to catch up with everyone else yet but I did look down the stats, these October babies certainly aren't hangig around. Congrats to everyone else who already has their little bundle of joy and to those of you still waiting I hope you don't have too much longer to go, just remember it is all worth it :-)

orangecat · 06/10/2007 17:52

Well, I have one to add too! Baby Oscar Edward born at 1.30pm last Thurs, 4th Oct, weighing in at 6lb 7.5oz.

Bit of a casualty moment here too. Had a bleed on Tues eve and DH not home (working late, typical!) so had to call an ambulance. Luckily bleeding stopped, but scan showed placenta lower than they had originally thought and was preventing head from descending. So ended up with an elective CS (boy what a different experience than VB).

Good thing it all happened this way, otherwise would have gone overdue, been induced and laboured naturally without anything happening only to have an emergency cs or even haemorrage (spelling?). So while traumatic, all for the best in the end .

Haven't had a chance to catch up on posts, but can see that big congrats are in order for J20 and polar. Anybody else I should know about?

Will catch up properly on Mon. Hope everybody is well xxx

Evening all. Well, no news here but 2 new babies-congratulations to you both. DH has just gone to get a curry and if that doesn't work dessert will be served in the bedroom .
Well, just you and me Greedy holding things up-maybe we should get together with a pineapple?.

unicorn · 06/10/2007 20:44

More and more!!!
CONGRATULATIONS ORANGE and POLAR

Inzi, I had a really bad swollen foot, and was pretty worried... watch out for any pains in leg.. and headaches. Try raising it if possible.
I had some reflexology (she massaged my legs too) which seemed to help.
Worth a check if it is still bad tomorrow - can't be too careful.

Good luck for any more weekend poppsers!

xxx

lisad123 · 06/10/2007 20:55

congrats to mrsfish, J20, polar and Orange.
Woo hoo, more LO's out than in
We are doing well, but have discovered Jasmine has tongue tie, so waiting hospital appointment to sort it out. Still managing to breast feed but is troublesome.

Hope your all ok

Lisa

alicet · 06/10/2007 21:04

OMG loads has been happening!

COngratulations to J20, Polar and Orange! SOunds like you have all been through the mill a bit but hopefully your lo's will make up for it...

Choc - can't believe the gall of your il's. Totally out of order. Are they really expecting to stay and be entertained? I would book them a hotel (would probably be childish but funny if you booked one at the airpoirt 'well if you're not up for long will make it easier as you're flying up!') and a restaurant to go to that night. Tell them in no uncertain terms (or rather get dh to) that they are welcome to visit when they arrive in the afternoon and the following morning as long as they call first but that you will not be providing any beds or food. I think its incredibly rude to inflict yourself on people like this without asking any time never mind the fact that you will just have had a baby!

Hello everyone else. Adam shouting so best go - be back on tomorrow....

alicet · 06/10/2007 21:04

Thanks for support about ds1 too - much better today - will fill in later!

ChocolateHobnob · 06/10/2007 21:34

Congratulations! To Polarmummy and Orangecat. Dramatic labours or what these couple of days! Actually there've been more C-sections than anything else on this thread this week, haven't there?

Inzi - how's your foot now? That sounds bad - if it's still the same in the morning, do call the hospital!

Alicet, they may well end up at the airport!! All of them. It would be childish, but it would be divine revenge. The problem is that their presumption upsets DH and he doesn't deserve it - I always wonder where he came from. How is Adam? and looking forward to hearing about DS1 today.

We had a lovely afternoon with our friends and their little baby - he was so much bigger now and sooo cute. I've finally reached the uncomfortable stage though - the baby just keeps headbutting my pelvic floor and it hurts! I feel very fat and can't seem to get a good position. Never mind, not so long to go.

Bed for me now. Congratulations everyone and Greedy I'm hoping tonight's the night!

WinnieThePooh · 07/10/2007 09:54

Moening everyone,

Today is my due date, so hopefully, I will get some action at some point in the day. DP thinks it will be Tuesday or Wednesday bfore this LO decides to put in an appearance.

Congratulations to J2O, polarmummy & orangecat on the birth of your littleone. I hope you are are well.

Mum and DD have gone swimming with my inlaws this morning, so I am just catching up on everything while my office is free.

ejt1764 · 07/10/2007 11:53

Congratulations to polarmummy&, j20, alice, orangecat, mrsfish* katsh ...

I've got a uterine infection - very [ouch] ... antibiotics are starting to kick in though so should be recovered soon ...

ds had really nasty tummy bug yesterday - dh was in charge of nursing him, and I stayed in isolation with Mairwen in our bedroom ... made me rest as all I did all day was read, feed Mairwen, listen to the radio and sleep ... feeling much more human today!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! still bloody here

congrats to orangecat and polarmummy

and congrats to my baby for being the most annoyingly comfortable baby in the world! dont think she is EVER coming out!

alicet · 07/10/2007 13:37

Inzi - sorry to hear that your foot is still swollen and you're not feeling the greatest - make sure you get lots of rest today honey. Send J20 my love...

Winnie - fingers crossed that todays the day!

ejt - sorry you've had an infection and that ds has been unwell. Your day yesterday sounds lovely though! Hope alls going well...

Choc - You must put them at the airport! WOuld be fantastic! As long as it doesn't upset and stress out your dh even more though.... Sorry you're feeling uncomfortable - not long to go now though...

Well Sam yesterday was much more chilled and happy with Adam. Kept going an giving him little kisses and toys (sometimes not as gentle as he should be didn't hurt him!). Just seems really excited by him again today which is lovely to see. We are making sure we give him lots of hugs and fuss when Adam sleeps. We all went out to pizza express yesterday evening - Adam slept through it all and Sam was really good and seemed to enjoy himself. It is really helping that I'm not anywhere near as sore as I was last time - only 1 lot of painkillers yesterday and I probably didn't even really need them - as I don't worry about cuddling and playing with him. No lifting but other people can helkp with that. He's coming to me as much as dh too now which I knew would happen in the end but its great.

As for Adam - during the day he is a little diamond - eats really well, sleeps and is generally really placid and happy. But when the sun goes down he turns into relentless breastfeeding boy who can't seem to get enough to eat and won't settle. We were at it from 7.30 till gone 2.30 last night by which point he was totally frantic with tiredness. GAve in at one point and gave him some formula at about 12 - he had 3 oz (which is a normal feed for his age) and still wouldn't settle. Remember a few nights like this with Sam - fingers crossed will all get better with time... The plus side was that when he finally went to sleep (in bed with me) he slept for 4 hours, and then another 2 after his feed this am so actually not feeling too rough!

Anyway - hope the rest of you are doing well... Thinking of you all!

ChocolateHobnob · 07/10/2007 15:28

Hi all

I'm glad J20 can come out today. Dying to hear about little Shannon!

Greedy, you must be the equivalent of a 5 star hotel for your lo! Maybe you need to start stomping around and making it a bit less comfy in there.

Inzi, I'm sorry you're so swollen. Good idea to ring the mw tomorrow if it's just as bad. Hope the Asda delivery came!

Alicet, Adam sounds like a daytime dream! I guess he has to be awkward at SOME point in the day (shame he chooses the night). I bet it gets better though soon - he's still teeny. Great that Sam is keen on him and happy with you again - and also that you're in so much less pain. It sounds lovely! Can't believe you've made it to Pizza Express already!

Ejt, poor you with an infection! hope it clears up soon.

We went into town this morning, got the cheapo nightie from Primark (that shop does my head in - incredibly hot and full of shouting people - but it is definitely bargainsome), some blackout blinds from John Lewis (roller ones), and a couple of wrap tops for lo from H and M (they don't go over the head and are v normal in France but seem to be like gold dust here, but good old H and M sell them). Been to Tesco this afternoon. Am now officially whacked! Baby is definitely a lot lower - was 3/5 engaged last week so must be more now. DH is ironing and I am going to make a lasagne, and have a nice bath, and try to rest up a bit - work tomorrow.

Come on Greedy junior - come out!

nellieloula · 07/10/2007 16:07

Hello everyone - congratulations Polar and orange - well done, despite the trauma. Hope you're getting lots of rest now.

and alice, things sounds great with you too which is brilliant. Inzi, hope you're resting and will get that swelling checked if it hasn't gone down. ejt - hope you're feeling better too.

choc - the hotel at the airport sounds perfect! Do it!

Things here good - my parents came down for a flying visit yesterday (they live 5 hours away!) and we made the most of it by going away for the night, just me and DH. It was amazing. We were still knackered and in bed at 9.30, but so lovely to have a gently wake up - not for much longer!!

Hope everyone else is ok and getting as much rest as they can. take care.

Hi Nellie and Inzi

Nellie - sounds like you had a nice treat!

Inzi, how's the swelling?

Have had my lasagne and watched the X factor and am now going to chill, I think. I really do feel uncomfortably huge now - can't believe I could go as long as another 5 1/2 weeks (up to 42 weeks) like this! Fingers crossed lo doesn't like it inside me that much...

muppetgirl · 07/10/2007 19:57

Congrats Polar and Orange!!

Inzi -that is much worse than my swelling, I would def phone the mw tomorrow. Watch out for those headaches and black flashes...

Alice -Glad Sam is warming to Adam and sorry Adam can't do his whole day the other way round!

Nasty period pains again last night with vicious braxtons throughout the day. I am also in agony when I stand and cannot lift each leg higer than 'I can jaut about put my knickers on' height. Feel like someone is splitting my pelvis in half
Dh took Ollie swimming and he was fab apparently, the dh went and did a big shop for 2 weeks just in case. Then he vaxed Henry's room, cooked a gorgeous roast chicken with gravey curtursy of Hugh Fernly do dah AND he then built the crib and put it into Henry's room. He's soooooo fab. All I had to do was finish the blanket I am on...
I washed Henry's clothes/blankets/bedding today and ironed it all then packed my hospital bag and lo's bag. It was lovely to see all the little babygrows I'd been collecting over the past few months and choosing which one to put Henry in first.
Ollie wants Henry to sleep in his room but dh managed to deflect a tantrum saying that he wouldn't have enough room in his room with Henry's crib...lovely idea though

J2OBABY · 07/10/2007 20:06

hi all, just managed to get dd1(oo its weird having to do the 1 after dd)to bed and grab something quick to eat.its going to have to be a me me me post i'm afraid as i'm exhausted, but will give quick recap. thought my waters had trickled in bed at 3.25am on Fri morning and when i went to loo they gushed and i started getting contractions at about 4 so my mum came round, got dd tready for school and got to hospital about 9am with contractions irregular but mainly every 10 mins, got ab's into me then mw wanted to break my waters and examine me at about 4pm, she said i was only 3 cm and tried to break my waters properly (only 1 set had gone before apparantly), but couldn't so a senior mw did it and the contractions got worse and i asked for a epidural but mw said i wouldn't be dilated enough, even though i knew i must be to need one that quick, anyway finally got one in, it didn't work, they'd missed bits, but then i was ready to push, was pushing for an hour but she wasn't moving anywhere, at some point they tried to relocate my epidural, but again bits where missed, so they started talking spinals and c sections, but i just kept pushing even when they left the room, she finally moved down a bit more, and doc said she'd try venthouse suction, she pulled, i pushed and it came off the head! so she did an episiotomy(sp) and used the forceps and she was finally out, it was such a relief! i had a lot of stitches but felt better than i did even after dd1's birth, where i'd felt terrible and even managed to bf her. didn't sleep on Fri night, got a couple of hours last night, so i'm shattered. got home at 3pm today after picking dd1 up and have just been trying to sort stuff out, dd1 has been a nightmare, very jealous, pretending to be a baby and 'sicked up' all over my friends legs (strawberry kiwi juice) and just wont leave Shannon alone, she keeps bloody carrying her around and wont leave her to sleep, started getting quite mad with her actually. so now i think i've got most of the details down and will be going to bed very soon, sorry for the rambling, i just kept writing!

congrats to mrsF, Orange and Polar, srry to not mention everyone and big thanks to Inzi for keeping people updated and also too to winnie and HM, i had to text just inzi in the end as my phone was running out of charge very quickly!

and Inzi-hope your swelling goes down, i would get checked sooner rather than later though

oh and got very sore nipples even though she's only wanted feeding every 4 hours with a couple fo little sucks just in between sometimes. right off to collapse on the bed, hopefully catch up tommorrow with everyone, wish me luck for my first night on my own!

greedygreedyguzzler · 07/10/2007 21:02

thanks for all your 'baby come out' thoughts choc! ....nolt that they are working!! but thanks for thinking of me!!! lasagne sounds yum......i quite fancy some now, even though i have just finished a big bowl of bananas and icecream topped with loads of golden syrup!!! ...............i reckon my baby wil be about 12lb by the time she does come out!!!

alicet - i told you sam would adapt quickly!!! its amazing how you do so much stuff with no. 2 that you would never do with no. 1 isn't it? bet you didnt go to pizza express that quickly after having no. 1!! when you have your second you suddenly realise how easy they are when they are tiny babies dont you?................easy in that they are very portable........not easy that they dont sleep and want to feed all the time!!!

inzi - you are going to beat me with your little one too you know!!!....i am SO glad i stuck on the 'due in oct' thread and not the 'due in sept' thread where i should have been.............imagine how lonely i would be on there now!!!

hello j2o - dont forget those baby blues will be kicking in..................all will seem better in a few days. hope tonight isn't too bad
