For want of a better title, I'll go with Inzi's

Well then, today has all been a bit of a blur for me so far. Dropped ds off at nursery, then went to see mw at 10.30, she did a sweep (wasn't that uncomfortable by the way) and then pronounced that she thought he might still be breech so sent me off straight to hospital for a scan. Got there at 11.30, had scan.... and he is breech because she did me a sweep they don;t want to leave me over the weekend, so I am going in for a cs tomorrow morning 8am my mind is all a whirl, thought I would let you all know, and then I am going to repack my bags now I know what's happening. Will probably be in hospital till monday/tues if there are no problems. So much to sort out and do this afternoon now, must get on, will catch up with you all later, hopefully you will find this thread ok

oh Greedy - you're bringing back so many memories for me with DS. Waiting is hell isn't it - the one good thing my MW told me to do was have a glass of red wine every night cause the more relaxed you are the more likely it'll happen - certainly took the edge off it if nothing else!

inzi and choc, you both sound like you need to rest a LOT today! hope you got some sleep last night.

apricot, how are you doing?? and j20? hope last night was better for you too. hello alice and to everyone else

I am reaching that horrible exhausted stage now; but only 10 days to go as long as this LO stays put. I'm also hoping that it is as big as everyone keeps telling me cause I put on 2lbs last week alone - if a 6lb baby comes out I'm in trouble!

have a good day everyone and fingers crossed for those LO's coming today

Collywobbles · 09/10/2007 09:14

Morning! Feeling marginally better today so hopefully my bug is finally on its way out... Some people are coming to view our house at 12.15 today and I'm trying to decide whether I have the energy to clean and tidy or whether they'll just have to use their imagination!

J20 - hope you had a decent night's sleep last night and feel more human today. This being my first, I hadn't even thought about going to the loo after the birth but your senecot and gin sling advice created quite a picture...ouch!

ejt1764 · 09/10/2007 10:21

I'm Apricott's text buddy - have heard nothing as yet - but will keep you up to date!

Choc - well done on negotiating the in-laws - I'm proud of you!

DS and DH have had a nasty stomach bug over the weekend, so I was in isolation ... but it seems to have worked as neither I nor Mairwen have gone down with it!

I have a uterine infection too - feels like I've been kicked - ABs dont'seem to be working as well as expected, I may have to have another course, am being reviewed by MWs again tomorrow.

Thinking of you who are still to pop - pregnancy now seems like another dimension - even the sleep deprivation now has a point to it!
Have fun with those pineapples!

GOOD MORNING Everyone
We got home from hospital last night, they were so busy and understaffed we weren't discharged until 7.45pm, I waited most of the day for the paedetrician to check Ben to give him the all clear.

Well, what a few days... as winnie mentioned from my text Ben decided not to wait till friday... I spent thursday afternoon doing last minute cleaning and washing etc, then settled down to a nice dinner and relaxing evening intending to get a good nights sleep for friday. Me and dh were just lying in bed having a little chat before sleep when at 10:50 I had a big popping sensation, it was so severe I jumped and even dh heard it,he was 'what was that?' my waters didn't go straight away, I just lay in bed for 5 mins wondering what to do, then got up to the loo and the waters started trickling and I got a few period pain aches which lasted a few seconds but were quite mild, seeing as this was how Sam started we didn't hang around too much longer, we phoned the babysitter who was on a night out and she managed to get a taxi, and get to us within 20 mins which was great. We were in the car and on the way to hospital by 11.30pm.

Then started labouring whilst waiting to be checked out, the surgeon on duty didn't believe I was breech even though I had told him I only had the scan confirmed 10 hours earlier, he then did an internal which bloody hurt like hell, he must have shoved his whole hand up there then my waters really went, but I had to put wet trousers on again to walk across to the delivery suite where he preceded to scan me again to confirm the breech

Theatre was already being used so I had to wait an hour before I went in, by which time I was contracting every 5 mins and it was getting to the stage where gas and air just weren't cutting it everyone then kept telling me that they don't like breech people going into labour... well excuse me but it wasn't my fault they were too busy to do it straight away it took them a while to then put the epidural in because i was having constant contractions, but blimey the relief when it finally worked was amazing, no more pain, but how weird to be numb from the boobs down Oh and they put the catheter in before the epidural it wasn't that bad actually, just a bit uncomfortable.

Was then wheeled into theatre and the deed done, I couldn't believe how quick it actually all happened once they got going, I was a little miffed that it was an emergency in the end though, because they wouldn't let me see him being born, and I didn't get skin to skin contact, he was cleaned up and checked and then given to dh to hold whilst I was being stitched up. I was then wheeled into a ward at 3am that morning, got no sleep at all that night. In fact since thursday morning up until last night I only managed about 10 hours kip altogether and was so exhausted last night it was untrue.

I started off bf for the first 24 hours, but became so sore so quick and I was just too tired to cope with the extra pain of that on top of the cs that I admit I gave up and have been ff him since. I feel so much happier having made that choice, only problem is my boobs are like Pam Anderson and are rock hard and painful, although they do feel a bit better this morning so it looks like they may start abating a bit now, but then again I have had 48 hours of painful boobs, so I am expecting them to get better now

Sorry for the long post, I'm making the most of the quiet before Ben wakes up which he is just starting to do and Sam being at nursery.

DH did the night feeds last night, so I managed a good six hours sleep and feel so much better for it. My mum is coming up later today and said she will do the night feeds for the next couple of nights, so I can catch up totally in readiness for next week

Well I could carry on boring you for a while but Ben is awake and being grumpy so will have to go for a bit will post some pics up soon

Oh and CONGRATULATIONS to everyone else who has popped, especially J20 - our kids share a birthday I had a quick scan through but haven't taken all the posts in.

Greedy - hope things happen for you soon

CONGRATS again mrs fish!!!! it all sounds a bit dramatic for you but you still cant believ how jealous i am that you have your lo to cuddle and mine is still inside! glad you managed a decent sleep last night, at least FF allows others to take over and you to get some well earned rest. i only managed 48 hrs BF with my dd (no.2) for similar reasons and after my initial hour or so of guilt i realised that it was DEFINATELY the right decision for me! happy mum = happy baby!!!! stressed out, tired mum = grumpy baby!!!!

oh well, off to wallow in self pity at still being pg!!!.............obviously nothing i tried last night worked!!!

how overdue did you go before nellie? did you have to be induced?

message from Apricott:

"Thanks for message" (I texted her earlier) "Still nothing happening. Induction tomorrow am if I haven't started by then. Dreams of home birth slipping away. Hope you're well. A x"

Have texted her to let her know we're thinking of her.

Now off to B&Q to buy a new tap ...

ChocolateHobnob · 09/10/2007 14:01

Hi all

Lovely to hear from you Mrs F, and congrats again! It all sounds v dramatic. How is Ben doing? And how is Sam liking Ben?

Colly, glad you're a bit better and do rest up!

Inzi, your hospital bag must look great!

Apricott, fingers crossed labour starts shortly.

Greedy - does your silence imply movement? Hope so!

Ejt, hope that infection clears up!

I'm working at home today. Not managing naps cos man is coming to sort out boiler and dont want to be rudely awakened. Am hoping he comes soon...oh and am eating Wispas and sending emails, not focusing that hard. Oh well...!

nellieloula · 09/10/2007 14:19

good to hear from you mrsfish - if you do get a minute, I'd also love to know how it's working out with Ben and Sam.....how was Sam when he came to visit in hospital etc??

greedy - hate to say it but as you asked, I went 13 days over with DS and then had an induction. I know how grim it is waiting, but just try and keep as distracted as possible.

hope everyone else is ok.

WinnieThePooh · 09/10/2007 14:59

Hi everyone,

Sorry I have not been on for a day or 2. I am still waiting for this little girl to arrive.

Though my waters were trickling out on Friday night a ns went to the hospital. Was on the monitore for 2.5 hours before being discharged. Then again last night I thought thatI was contracting. Was getting pains every 3-4 minutes lasting for upto 60 seconds. When I called the hospital they said to make my way in. WE got there about 3.20am, I was discharged again by about 4.20am as I was only 1cm dilated. The midwife suggested that I have plenty of orange juice and try to open my bowels. When I got home, I did myself a bowl of fruit (orange, apple, pear and banana, as well as some fresh pineapple). When I had finishewd that I managed to go to the toilet and went to bed abou 5.10am.

Still no signs of this LO putting in an appearance today and I an REALLY FED UP now.

Sorry about the me, me, me post.

I hope everyone else is well.

muppetgirl · 09/10/2007 15:54

Winnie -you poor thing. The start/stopping must be driving you mad!!

Hello ladies! Posting one handed as I bf...

Choc - well done sorting il's

Apricott - fingers crossed al gets going soon...

Greedy - ditto! You're welcome to a loan of my son who is fantastic at nipple stimulation!

MrsF - sounds all pretty traumatic in the end. FF sounds like the right choice for you - no need to sound so apologetic. Very nearly came to it myself. Theres so much more to think about second time around.

Well last night was great. After a monster feed at 9.30 Adam slept from about 10.30 till 3 and then about 4.30 - 6.15! Feel so much better! Know too well this doesn't mean we have it sorted but even 1 good night is fab!

Big hugs to the rest of you - see you soon!

ChocolateHobnob · 09/10/2007 16:11

Well done Adam!

Oh dear, I have given the impression we sorted the inlaws out - we didnt, not really. Well, they are not staying for dinner, which is good, and they've got the message, but they're in a big huff and relations are pretty strained. They think we're selfish for not being more grateful for their desire to see lo and not being more welcoming...

ChocolateHobnob · 09/10/2007 16:12

oh and Winnie - hope it starts again asap! Ditto Apricott.

alicet · 09/10/2007 16:23

Choc I think you have sorted them out though. If they're so wrapped up in themselves they can't see what they did was unreasonable they were never going to be happy with what you told them were they? But you have shown them they have to respect you and your choices a bit more which is a big plus. Whether they do or not in the future is another matter I guess!!!

Hope you're managing to get some rest...

ejt1764 · 09/10/2007 16:24

Choc - they'll get over it! Believe me - I've been there with the PILs last time! And if they don.t, it's their loss!

MrsFish - sounds very dramatic - I second alice on the ff - if there'd been any formula in the house when I had all the problems last week, dd would be on the bottle by now too! Don't beat yourself up about it ... there's much more to being a mum than bf as you know already!

Well, we've bought a new tap, but now dh has to drain off the whole water system, so I'll probably be thrown out of my house for a few hours while he does it!

Collywobbles · 09/10/2007 16:53

Hi All - well the people came to see the house and seemed impressed despite the fact that I only did some minimal tidying! Fingers crossed

just in the middle of making a hearty chicken broth. Just what I need to fend off the final bits of flu! So nice to actually have a bit of energy

Winnie - you poor, poor thing! What a nightmare to keep thinking that things are starting only for them to stop again. I really hope that things get going properly for you soon.

Choc - sorry about your inlaw probs..just what you need, a bit of extra stress on top of lack of sleep etc...

Inzi - I'm most impressed that you're ironing..I've got a pile building up and have got to the point where there's so much that I'm going to go through it this week to see what can be given to charity or chucked out it's so long since I've actually worn any of it! Anything to avoid getting the iron out...

muppetgirl · 09/10/2007 17:44

Hi all!

Just giving Ollie his tea -frog shaped scones we made yesterday as he's just come in from playing with the 'big' boys and thinks he's 'cool mummy' The other 2 lads are 6/7 and are great with Ollie, passing him the ball and asking him to tackle them ahhhh

Alice -glad to hear Adam is doing so well

Mrs Fish -glad you have made your decision re ff. We all the bottles and a couple of milk cartons just in case of that 'oh my god, I can't do this anymore' that happened with Ollie at 6 weeks. Dh and I have said, if b/f isn't working, then we're not going to beat ourselves up about it.

-anyone going to watch the 'bringing up baby' thing tonight?

unicorn · 09/10/2007 18:20

Hello one and all
Had Doctor's appointment today to discuss the scans... luckily she is of the opinion (as me) that they have been ott with the scanning/monitoring for no particular reason.
It seems they can be a bit over cautious.

Anyway she doesn't seem worried , and tells me baby isn't too big (this is mummy tummy she says grabbing a handful of flesh!!!

So I can try and enjoy(?) the remaining 7/8 days in peace now, no more hospital visits or monitoring hurrah.

Good luck for all overdues, and imminents.
Hope the 'poppers' are getting enough rest with their lo's... see you on the other side in the not too distant we hope!

xxx

WinnieThePooh · 09/10/2007 18:59

Thanks for the messages everyone.

I will try to watch "bringing up baby" tonight, but I am hoping not to be at home. If I am still here, DP and I are going to try and bring her on again tonight. Fingers crossed it works this time.

He will be happy if she arrive tomorrow as it will be an easy date for him to remember (10/10).

Have a good evening everyone.

ess · 09/10/2007 19:21

Evening all- we seem to have gone from all the babies being early to overdue!!
I am 40+4 today though not entirely surprised. DD was 8 days late- really wanted to avoid being "swept" though- got appointment on Thursday.
Good luck Greedy and WTP- hopefully we'll all have our LOs in our arms soon.
Have a nice evening everyone- Going to have a glass of red wine tonight, will help me sleep if nothing else.

alicet · 09/10/2007 19:33

Thinking of all you ladies who are overdue... Thankfully avoided this both times but think I would have been very intolerant of this so really feel for you x

MrsFish · 09/10/2007 20:21

Ess, I had a sweep and it wasn't bad at all, Ben decided to get things going 12 hours after having it

Hi Unicorn, good news about the scans. And hope you can enjoy (ha!) your remaining time before lo comes along.

Winnie, has it happened?? And Greedy has gone silent too - does that mean anything? Apricott? Thinking of you all. And Ess - I am sure I'm going to be overdue eventually so am interested to know what a sweep would be like. It sounds horrible so I know how you must feel but people keep saying it isnt that bad.

Mrs Fish, he is so cute! And so is Sam. I could cheerfully steal them both. They're going to look alike, aren't they?!

Colly, hope the flu is well and truly gone!!!

I am fine, I think - crap night's sleep though and now DH, who got a new job, promotion within same section, and has somehow ended up temporarily doing 2 jobs until they find a replacement for his old job, got all headachey and stressed. Which led to even worse insomnia all round.

I seem to be blocked up (sorry if TMI!!!) - made a vat of veggie chilli, with aubergines, black beans and kidney beans, last night to have with tortillas, sour cream, guacamole and grated cheese. Surely that will do the trick! Oh and it was yummy too.

At home for a couple of hours then going into work after a mw visit. Take care all and thinking of the overdue brigade! x
