For want of a better title, I'll go with Inzi's

Well then, today has all been a bit of a blur for me so far. Dropped ds off at nursery, then went to see mw at 10.30, she did a sweep (wasn't that uncomfortable by the way) and then pronounced that she thought he might still be breech so sent me off straight to hospital for a scan. Got there at 11.30, had scan.... and he is breech because she did me a sweep they don;t want to leave me over the weekend, so I am going in for a cs tomorrow morning 8am my mind is all a whirl, thought I would let you all know, and then I am going to repack my bags now I know what's happening. Will probably be in hospital till monday/tues if there are no problems. So much to sort out and do this afternoon now, must get on, will catch up with you all later, hopefully you will find this thread ok

Hey everyone! congratulations colly! welcome to jacob - lovely name . Wel i'm back home wit the lo, came home yesterday, on a cocktail of painkillers, antibiotics, laxatives and anti inflamitarys for my tear , doing well though so they must be working! had some probs with breast feeding over last few days, very very sore, spoke to midwives though, they advised totally normal in first few days and recommended a good nipple cream, now my milk has come in dylan not sucking quite so hard and getting better with every feed, he is amazing and has been very well behaved so far , i'm so so happy he's finally here, the most amazing feeling in the world, totally worth it all! Anyway he's due a feed so i'm gonna go for now, hope everyone is doing ok, catch ya later

Congrats Colly! And welcome to baby Jacob!

Good luck tomorrow DB if it comes to that...

Choc is conspicuous by her absence... I am her text buddy so will let you know if I hear anything!!!

Dalrymps - delighted that you are loving being a mum so much!

ejt1764 · 05/11/2007 20:25

Hiya Dal ... congrats!

Couple of tips - for your tear, drench your pad in witch hazel - it's very soothing ... also, pour a jugful of warmish water over your bits every time you go to the loo - I added a couple of drops of tea tree oil too - it made life much happier!

Also, if the bf is very very sore, that's not normal ... contact one of the bf helplines and ask for somebody to come out and help you out!

Congratulations Colly

Go choc (and everybody else!)

Dalrymps · 05/11/2007 21:48

Hey everyone, managed our first shpping trip today, thanks ejt for the advice on my tear and bf, the bf is less sore now but still quite sore, especially if he is on for a long time it gets quite bad towards the end not sure why, they said he was latching on properly so you have any idea why it might still be hurting? I will contact bf support but just wondererd if you had any thoughts . catch ya later

ejt1764 · 05/11/2007 21:54

very quickly (on my way to bed) ... could be thrush ... that tends to hurt towards the end of the feed ... try kellymom for help

Night all (really this time~!)

Collywobbles · 05/11/2007 22:10

Hi Everyone - got home a couple of hours ago feeling knackered, terrified but SO HAPPY! Jacob is so beautiful - don't know how we managed it!

Birth not so great - ended with being wheeled into theatre and given 3 chances to push with forceps - also he had to be turned with forceps as was back to back..if still not out then emergency c-section but thankfully he came out on 3rd one - already has a sense of drama! Had to have epiesiotomy so a little tender now.

Am also panicing because Jacob doesn't seem to be feeding much yet..not sure if I'm producing much and when he does latch on he has a couple of sucks then falls asleep! If anyone has any advice, I'd be grateful to hear it! Think they'd have rather that I stayed in another night at hospital but I was going out so assured them that I would keep trying every 3 hours and then midwife's coming tomorrow anyway...

Anyway - too tired for more now..

Congrats to others!

Dalrymps · 06/11/2007 00:27

ey everyone, i had same problem wit lo feeding at first, just couldn't get him to be interested then would just fall back asleep and i would worry he wasn't getting enough. best advice midwife gave me was that if lo not interested or just sucking then stopping to pop him back in crib for up to half an hour, wait until he wakes and looks hungry (does sucking etc) then try agian cause i was just holding him for ages and persisting and he was just getting too cosy then would wake to feed cause was drowsy so putting him in cot ade him realise he was hungry and stir. Also she showed me how to hold the back of his head and have his nose opposite my nipple and then said to wait until he opened wide and giude the head on and hold it there for a few seconds until he got the idea, i was scared to force him on but this was more like just hlding his head firmly and confidently until he was sucking away then he just went for it. once i started doing these two things he went from having not fed for nearly a whole nigt to every 2-4 hours so a lot better. anyway don't know if any of that will help? maybe you're doing that already? oh i also recommend lansinoh nipple cream, mine wouldn't have survived without it

ChocolateHobnob · 06/11/2007 07:41

Welcome home Colly and congratulations! Well done for surviving induction without c-section. And Dal! Lovely to hear from you and Kitti - any pics?? Is Gemma okay?

DB: good luck today!!!

I wasn't conspicuously absent because in labour, I was just avoiding the computer because I had no sleep and was in a grumpy mood. 40+6 today and feeling v uncomfortable, for the first time really this pregnancy. I can't imagine lo coming before induction and all I can see in induction is agony and emergency c-section. Also I need to decide to have a sweep or not tomorrow...

Anyway my friend is coming for lunch with her five month baby and toddler son so that will cheer me up!

kitcoffey · 06/11/2007 16:02

Another girl! 4th November 1.43 am 8lb 2oz Genevieve arrived in a hurry pre induction! She is a stunner and I am totally besotted!

kitcoffey · 06/11/2007 16:08

Congratulations Colly & Kitti & gemmamc!!!

gemmamc · 06/11/2007 16:42

Hi!

Congratulations everyone...!

Sorry, just a quick message....as things are great but obviously hectic...

I am finally back home after a C-section. My baby Davide is doing very well. I am recovering slowly as I had 2 days of latent phase of labour Wednesday and Thursday (which brought me up to 2 cm dilation - but still very very painful, and was only allowed pethidine but was refused an epidural) and 1 full day of induction from 10 am Friday which ended up in emergency C-section at just after midnight. But all is well in the end, the baby is a million times worth it and I am absolutely in love with him.

I'll post soon on the post natal thread too, but I am just trying not to spend too much of my rare spare time on the internet (can't write with one hand, because I seem to need both hands to breastfeed - mainly to move my breast a bit so the LO can breathe!!)

Good luck to anyone still waiting!

alicet · 06/11/2007 18:44

kit congratulations!!!

gemma good to see you back and sounding so happy.

choc sorry you are feeling crap honey. not long to go now though - one way or another. the offedr for coffee and distraction is there anytime...

thinking of you all xxxx

designerbaby · 06/11/2007 21:42

HI all

First congrats on all the new arrivals - healthy babies and healthy mums (in the long run) is all we're after right - no extra points of textbook births - it's what I keep telling myself...

Anyway, had a sweep today at about 3pm - and really very uncomfortable now...

Oh, actually just read your post choc-hob-nob - maybe you shouldn't read the rest of this - just my experience! A friend from my antenatal class just had a sweep yesterday and said it was fine and isn't having any pain at all - no contractions either mind you, so she's going back tomorrow for another...

Actually while here, I just wanted to pick your brains too...

Apparently cervix less that 1cm dilated, and still posterior, but she was still able to do the sweep - although it was quite uncomfortable as a result. She did say she would be quite vigorous, as I'm only getting one chance at this working - I'm 42 weeks on Saturday and due to be induced on Friday if nothing comes of this.

Since I got home, baby has been very active, but I'm feeling pretty rotten TBH... feels like constant BAD period pain with bouts of more acute pain... feel a bit sick when the pain gets bad.

Is this normal after this procedure? A good thing? Not a good thing?

Haven't had any bleeding or any kind of 'show' yet - again, good, not good?

Just not sure how it all should feel, what's a positive sign and what's not., etc.

Any wisdom/experience/advice out there?
I'd really appreciate it...

DB

That was supposed to read 'no extra points for a textbook birth'...

Discomfort making it hard to concentrate...

Sorry...

Dalrymps · 06/11/2007 23:48

hey everyone, just a quick note to say congratulations colly, kitti and gemmamc, isn't it amazing to finally have your lo's here... I've never felt love like this, best feeling in the world

kitcoffey · 07/11/2007 07:11

DB, I had a sweep 4 days before labour, posterior no dilation at all, referred to induction team.

Came home had period pain no show and little brown dicharge in wee. . My back felt rotten! That night had horrid pain in my left kidney area had to jump in the bath. Next day OK little back ache. Days later my labour started as Braxtons 20 mins apart gradually working down to 6 mins had a couple of meaty ones that brought a little back ache, went tpo hosptital, 20 mins later 2mins apart, lasting 1.55secs, for 3 hours 40 mins until out she popped! Got from 4cm when arrives at hosital to 6-7 cms in 1hr 45. Don't worry about posterior and aches, DD came out like a rocket! x

MrsFish · 07/11/2007 07:49

designerbaby - my labour started with bad period like pains, 12 hours after my sweep

designerbaby · 07/11/2007 08:47

Hi all... some light bleeding this morning - not sure if it's a show or just the result of being interfered with... Still uncomfortable, period-type pain but not as bad as yesterday...

Still refusing to let myself get excited...

Hello everyone, congratuations to all those who have had their babies. i'm now 7 days over due and have to go and see my midwife where i'm sure the words membrane sweep and induction are going to be mentioned. GULP .
i thought i had 14 days before i have to be induced but hospital say they have a policy of 12. am getting quite worried about being induced now.
Anyway good luck to everyone and i hope everything goes well for you all

ChocolateHobnob · 07/11/2007 12:03

Congratulations Kit and Gemma!!! So exciting.

Dbaby, keep me posted on what's happening with you! I had a sweep this morning - head is fully engaged and cervix was 'favourable' - was an hour ago, but no pains at all yet. The sweep itself hurt when she stuck her fingers in initially but then wasnt too bad. No confidence it'll work though!

Am booked for induction next Tuesday when will be 41+6.

Good luck Dbaby! and Snig!

alicet · 07/11/2007 13:53

Good luck db and choc! Hope your sweeps work! Also hope all kicks off for you snig -remember while they might have their policies on induction for good reasons (ask them!) you don't actually have to do anything you don't want - they can't strap you to the bed and force those pessaries in!!!

Good luck one and all! Not many of you left now and from the sounds of things you should all be over in postnatal by the end of next week....xxxx

designerbaby · 07/11/2007 19:21

Thanks for the good wishes people - ditto choc. keep me posted on your progress!

I've definitely had a show today - which was at least a sign that something is happening, I suppose.

Have my first prostin gel tomorrow afternoon, then will be sent home to come back on Friday for full induction if nothing happens...

Still feeling achy, with a couple of crampy times today, but nothing to speak of.

Ah well, she's got about 20 hours to make a move of her own accord...

ChocolateHobnob · 08/11/2007 06:57

Hi DB, any sign of her moving?? I've got my fingers crossed for you!

Nothing seems to have come of my sweep, well not yet, anyway, just waiting. I fell over yesterday though (stupid!) - was walking to buy food for dinner and tripped over. Landed with a bang on my knee. I rang the hospital and they said just to sit still and monitor baby movements but that since I hadnt landed near the abdomen there was no risk. Baby was as normal last night - just my knee is sore. Hmm... the theory of labouring on all fours has gone out of the window...

GOOD LUCK DB! And Snig!
