I had my red book through the post a week or so ago and have a health visitor call on Thursday. I guess that's in place of face to face which is fine

annie1994 · 15/08/2020 10:34

Had my call with the health visitor yesterday afternoon. Just asked questions about me and my partner... drugs, alcohol, mental illnesses etc!! And gave me some quick advice on breastfeeding and preventing cot death. She said that I will have a face to face visit just after the baby is born. But the monthly weight clinics etc are cancelled atm because of Covid. But she did say if there was any concern that they would come and see you.

I’m in West Kent so this may just be my area/ trust!

Emmy2020 · 15/08/2020 18:41

@ShiningStarz Just wondered if you knew, I forgot to ask at the clinic when they went through the blood glucose test the other day (It was so hot in there just couldn’t wait to get out!) but do you know what happens once they ask for your results? If they are okay I’m guessing you just stop but if they aren’t what happens then do you still have to carry on with the fingerpricking?

ShiningStarz · 15/08/2020 20:15

Hi @Emmy2020 I had to email in my readings and for a few weeks they were fine. But then 2 weeks ago they told to to come in for an appointment as my sugar readings were getting higher. They wanted to start me on insulin so I had to learn how to inject it and also see dietician and diabetes nurse again. My readings 1hr after meals if low carb are fine but if I have 2 slices bread or too much rice / potatoes it can go up to over 8/9. What have your readings been like?

Emmy2020 · 15/08/2020 22:54

@ShiningStarz They’ve been under allowed 5.3 about 4.4 around that for before meals and under 7.8 for after, only twice have they gone over by 0.1 Which is when I had a sweet as a snack a bit too close to testing. Thing is I eat a lot of the stuff that you’re probably not meant to and I eat so much fruit in a day! So don’t know if that effects it.
Oh that must be hard having to inject yourself.
They are calling me Tuesday for my readings so will have only been about a week.

ShiningStarz · 15/08/2020 22:57

Sounds like you are fine, sugars before and after are great!! I had a Thai takeaway curry one night with few spoons brown rice and it went up to 9!! Your definitely seen normal 🤞

This little one in my belly is definitely a party goer night owl!!!! I'm hoping it's not a sign of things to come!!! 🙈

Emmy2020 · 15/08/2020 23:32

Aw cute! 😊
I hope so! Just getting stressed now as I’m trying to do my evening one and have done it four times now and it comes up with error, it’s enough having to get blood out of your finger without having to keep doing it because it won’t work 😐

ShiningStarz · 16/08/2020 00:28

Anyone else having crazy amount of movement in particular at night?! I'm 37 weeks next week. I actually can't sleep as little one is rolling around and my tummy is rising and falling and makes me feel like I need to wee constantly as soon as I lie down !!! It's fab feeling little one but I'm soooo tired !!

Lorna198 · 16/08/2020 00:37

I’m up with ya @ShiningStarz! So active late on, soon as it settles and I get comfy I need a wee, get back in bed and off it goes again. So knackered haha

ShiningStarz · 16/08/2020 00:39

Haha@Lorna198 I'm still sat up wondering if I can try lying down soon !!! Night xx

UrsulaSings · 16/08/2020 05:34

I have been awake a lot tonight as well. Had really bad acid reflux which is causing a lot of pain in my chest. I know exactly what you mean @ShiningStarz about baby pushing tummy out and feeling like you need a wee all the time. He's pretty active at night time! I feel sooo tired.

LatteLover12 · 16/08/2020 06:13

Morning ladies, I've been up since 4am with the same thing. I foresee a 10am nap today 😴

ChipsAreLife · 16/08/2020 07:38

My sleep has been awful the last few nights because I keep having loads of braxton hicks and backache! Yesterday evening and night I'm fairly sure I had some contractions too but they stopped but after midnight. I've got the runs and appetite has gone down. Sounds like I'm heading in the right direction but google says this could go on for weeks!

Strangely I don't feel tired and was up cleaning bathrooms at 6 am yesterday 😬. I do feel uncomfortable and having loads of pressure so walking is tricky!!!

Re health visitors sadly they're safeguarding so whilst it seems strange to ask those questions to us they are often the ones that pick up on abuse/neglect etc. I dread to think what's being missed without home visits. I've not heard from my mine but I found they only really cared for your first!

We've not go long now!!! I'm almost 37 weeks too @ShiningStarz. Need to get my pram and car seat sorted in the next few days!

Lilice · 16/08/2020 10:22

I had so much movement yesterday followed by period cramps before bed, I got worried that was it as im only 34 weeks but maybe that was bracton hicks? I have no idea what they feel like. Even when I was in labour with my first i didnt recognise contractions when I had them. I've been very lazy yesterday, watching netflix in bed etc, so I think that's why I felt more movement than usual

UrsulaSings · 16/08/2020 11:57

It's definitely got to that symptom spotting time hasnt it! Everything that's going on in my body at the moment I think 'ooohhh is that so and so getting ready'. I really hate the not knowing when its going to happen and 'how' it's going to happen! As in, will it be quick, slow, what type of pain, will baby be ok, will I have to stay in hospital, will it end in emergency cesarean, etc etc!

OrDis · 16/08/2020 12:23

I’ve overdone it with the cleaning today! Decided to deep clean the bathrooms (which they desperately needed to be fair). Absolutely dead now! Won’t be moving from the sofa for the rest of the day!

sianyflewog · 16/08/2020 17:51

I am so hormonal today, and tired - I could burst into tears over anything. Having the worst time sleeping at night because my hips are agony when I lay on my side, and I have to turn over constantly - plus last night I was overly full from a late afternoon meal with my friend, and I had a can of lemonade at about 9pm and as soon as I lay down I was sick so had to sleep upright 🙈

ShiningStarz · 16/08/2020 18:23

Oh dear @sianyflewog sounds awful 😥 I can really feel it now too.

@OrDis your so lucky you can clean!! Our house is upside down and wev joiners arriving tomorrow !! They offered me a sweep week 38 but I said no as the house won't be completed 🙈 obviously it was for baby I would but there's no reason at all to sweep that early!!

I feel your pain @UrsulaSings I don't know how my partner will cope seeing me in so much pain and just the whole process of labour. He's more nervous than I am and that in turn is making me feel
Anxious about how he'll handle it !!! I might decide to send him packing and I can rely on the midwives to get me through it !!!

@ChipsAreLife it must be so nice having an actual date for your c section!!! I'm getting nervous about feeling the start of it, hopefully will go naturally and not just hooked onto the induction drip 🤞🤞

OrDis · 16/08/2020 19:27

Aww @ShiningStarz I hope all the work gets done before baby arrives for you! Just think about how amazing and new and clean and tidy it will all be once they are done! Perfect!

MooseWL · 16/08/2020 19:28

I've had loads of movement this weekend too! I'm on full on nesting mode now, cleaned all the front of the kitchen cupboards today 😂 then i remember the bathroom works start in 2 weeks and everything gets covered in dust 🙈 @shiningstarz how are you finding your renovations?

I still feel like I've got a while to go being 34 weeks and I'm looking forwards to hearing all your birth experiences first (hopefully!)

Met my friend yesterday who told me she is 8 weeks pregnant and she looked rough and was feeling awful! I told her I'd kind of forgotten how horrific the first trimester was (or first 20 weeks in my case!) and think in comparison I actually feel okay ish now!

My nursery is finally getting there just need to get some pictures and shelves up 😍

September 2020 6 - we are (almost) ready babies!
ShiningStarz · 16/08/2020 19:40

Aww @MooseWL your nursery looks fab 😊 I can't believe how crazy I was starting work at 36 weeks pregnant!! I'll be 38 by the time it """e to get it all dust free and cleaned and a day to get baby room and stuff out from the attic!!! Our bathroom will have taken 7 days to complete include tiling. There's dust I suppose from them
Cutting tiles!! You'll be relieved to get it done like I am !!

@OrDis it will be but right now I can't see the end !!! I'm at my parents at the moment and hope to get back to our home by next weekend!! Feels like there is so much to do xx

MooseWL · 16/08/2020 19:49

@shiningstarz yeah our bathroom should only take 5 days hopefully, and I'm so excited to have a bath in a nice new bathroom at the end of it! Will be nice for labour, our bathroom is so old right now i never have baths cos I hate it!
That's good that you've been able to move out, we've still not decided if we're going to move in with family for the week or me just go work at their house in the daytime to have access to a toilet then come back here in the evening and get them to do the toilet last!

ShiningStarz · 16/08/2020 19:51

@MooseWL we are getting new doors and floors and carpet upstairs so that's y I had to move out !! There's just too much going on haha!! I'm the same as you, our bath was ancient and we moved into the house I refused to use it!! I would love to get in it for early labour too 😊😊 never mind bath baby in a nice bathroom!!! When is your due date?? I'm in for induction 9th and sweep 2nd xx

MooseWL · 16/08/2020 20:22

@shiningstarz not due until 25th so should be finished the day I turn 37 weeks. Plenty of time 🤔😬

ShiningStarz · 16/08/2020 21:04

Yes @MooseWL clearly you've been more sensible than me hahaha!! I'm really cutting it fine 🙈
