@ChipsAreLife I had my birth preference chat last week and she said if I stay overnight my partner has to book in and come back the next day as a cutout for an hour, it's pretty sh*t really. He's not a visitor, he's the other parent. Such a shame.

LatteLover12 · 19/08/2020 18:25

I've not had it @Emmy2020 but I think it means you'll have to have antibiotics during labour so it might rule out a birth centre/midwife led birth.

Did they explain it to you?

The danger is it being passed to baby in the birth canal.

ShiningStarz · 19/08/2020 18:31

@Emmy2020 I hope your ok, I have never heard of anyone having group b strep.
It's good though that they know so they can plan accordingly. Did the person who rang you to tell you give you any info on what it means for delivery / post delivery?? You might be kept in a little longer than norm to ensure it's treated etc and not passed onto baby. Better they know than not know xx

@ChipsAreLife and @Roxy8203 that really is just crap 😟 NI infection rate is on the rise. I welcome the eat out to help out for businesses but did they really think that putting a load of people is restaurants etc wasn't going to have a negative impact on positive cases 😫 there's an announcement coming tomorrow with next steps so I'm very aware that when it's out turn for hospital things could do back to the way they were months ago, it's a very nerve wracking time especially for first timers. Xx

Emmy2020 · 19/08/2020 18:59

@LatteLover12 @ShiningStarz
She said I will have to have antibiotics when in labour and not to worry. But that’s a good idea to have questions such as if I will be in longer or do I go to hospital earlier when I’m in labour. She said I can talk to her about it when I see her next week. She won’t be my actual midwife as I’m going to hospital to have my baby, I’m going for a scan the week after so I can at least speak to the hospital when I go there too. 5 more weeks to go!

sianyflewog · 19/08/2020 21:31

@ChipsAreLife I see the consultant to be booked in for my section next week, and I wonder if we’ll have the same conversation. My little boy will be starting nursery school the week that I turn 39 weeks though, and there is absolutely no way that I’m not taking him! I feel gutted that I’ll have to stay in alone without my husband and without my boy coming to visit me and his new sister.

@lilice I have been ploughing through the washing, got so much done the last two days. Thank god for the tumble dryer! I still need to do the car seat though 😬

My mum has already asked me not to let anyone hold the baby, so I don’t think I’ll have much trouble with her being pushy on visiting. MIL on the other hand... 😂

MooseWL · 19/08/2020 21:47

I think I'm going to let my inlaws and parents visit and hold the baby after the first week but fob off everyone else for a while.

My dance classes started back for a trial run this evening and I decided to go as I'll obviously not be going when they're back properly in September. I've was doing them on zoom until mid July so figured it would be fine.
Did a jazz and a tap class and I'm done in omg my hips I'm not sure I'll be able to move tomorrow 😂 poor baby was probably like wtf is going on here with all this noise!!

ChipsAreLife · 19/08/2020 22:40

@ShiningStarz it's so hard. I completely back everything going back to normal and economy needs to be a huge focus now but why can't they give this some attention? All they need to do is test the partners too. Feels so unfair on everyone. The midwives must be run ragged!!!

@Roxy8203 I know it's bloody crap. They said today they're kicking people out pretty quickly so they can get home but I think that's wrong as mums need support with feeding, pain relief etc. So I imagine we will be forced to make sacrifices we shouldn't have to!

@sianyflewog I'm the same. She did say it was just NHS 'guidance' and up to us. If it was middle of winter and kids had been back for a few weeks I would probably pull them out. My pre op has been cancelled! I only found out by chance today on the phone, otherwise I would have rocked up to hospital Monday. It's just a shambles and it's made me feel really emotional today!!!

@liquoricecravings yes that's what I'm hoping! My family are all really sensible and not really out and about so I feel comfortable with them coming for a visit. Everyone just needs to do what's best for them, but whatever you decide family and friends should understand given the circumstances!

@MooseWL I did Zumba with the kids this afternoon. My hips are feeling it 🤣

@ChipsAreLife how rubbish !! I had a date for my section booked in but wanted a week to think it over , I've had a phone call from a registrar not my consultant after my consultant app was cancelled. Phone call lasted four minutes and was told my section date again and told pre op assessment didn't exist , pretty sure he had no clue what was going on. I asked if I needed to self isolate and he said don't bother , I will do however , apparently a midwife will call me in the week to reconfirm dates and blood tests will be done on the day.

ShiningStarz · 19/08/2020 23:51

Can't lie down!! Little one is wriggling around like crazy!! Literally sat up
In bed as it's the only comfy position 🤣
I read somewhere the movements in the womb mimic patterns when born!! I had better get used to late nights!!

Laura1348 · 20/08/2020 07:09

Thanks for all your information/ views on family visits.
It's lovely to hear that family members are being 'strict' so they can hold the newborn.
Good luck to everyone.
Xx

sianyflewog · 20/08/2020 07:16

Oh my @MooseWL - I remember doing tap at 6 months with H, and I felt like I needed oxygen at the end of the first routine. Needless to say, I didn’t go back until he was about 6 months born! Cannot imagine doing it at full term!

Emmy2020 · 20/08/2020 08:46

This morning suddenly had a ache across top of my tummy lasted under a minute then went not had it since yet but last couple of days it’s happened occasionally.
Baby moving about lots.
Any idea? could it be braxton hicks? Never had that before but thought it would be more regular.

Lilice · 20/08/2020 09:36

@Emmy2020 I had group b strep last pregnancy. I didnt have time for the antibiotics because I went into labour before my planned c section ( I was still going to get the antibiotics even though it was a planned c section as baby was breech) so they had to give several rounds of antibiotics to my baby when he was born.
@sianyflewog I bet you feel great now it's all done. I've left the hard bits for the end, like the baby gym and the swing.
@ChipsAreLife oh that's disappointing about your husband having so limited time with you. Hopefully you will be out in no time! How does your daughter feel about starting primary school? My son is also entering foundation 😱 my baby lol

NeuroMama · 20/08/2020 09:53

Dance classes Shock you ladies are active. I don't think my bladder/pelvic floor could take the jostling these days haha. Boy, do I miss proper exercising! I had so many plans to stay super fit but lockdown scuppered all of that. I use to rock climb twice a week (as well as cycle and hike a lot) and I was so excited to be up there with a bump. Even more annoying is that pregnancy wise I have felt like I would have been raring to go still. Oh well, now I just have to cross my fingers I haven't lost so much fitness I will struggle to get through labor Blush

Re people visiting once baby is here, we've only had the conversation with my partner's parents so far. First grandkid, so my MIL is beyond excited (this kid already has a years worth of cardigans and hats knitted for it Grin) but they are also so lovely and were really understanding when we said we were unsure about exposure to baby. They have suggested they self isolate for 2 weeks and then come visit us for a weekend (they are 4 hours away). This works for us as we can have 2 weeks 'babymoon' just us as well as the risk reduction for infection. My family and alot of our friends are more local to us and we haven't decided with them exactly how it will work yet. I keep feeling like we are being over cautious about it all, but then I keep thinking better safe than sorry. Baby won't remember or care if they were cuddled by people other than DP and me that young anyway.

Sara7455 · 20/08/2020 10:10

@NeuroMama I’m same as you with the year’s worth of cardigans and hats (at least!). Especially with being stuck in during lockdown my mum has gone into overdrive on the knitting. Think he’ll have Enough for a different one every day once the weather is cool enough to need them!

Laura1348 · 20/08/2020 10:31

@NeuroMama how lovely they have offered to self isolate. That would certainly make me feel better- My sister is off to
a concert in London for the bank holiday! 😂

Emmy2020 · 20/08/2020 10:53

@Lilice Did you have to stay longer in hospital or was it just for the normal time? They should give me antibiotics as soon as I get into hospital, my midwife said.

MooseWL · 20/08/2020 11:15

@sara7455 @neuromama
Oh god I think this boy is gonna have to have a separate drawer just for hats! I keep saying he's only got one head (I hope!) these are just a few the SIL has crocheted,at least they're a range of sizes Grin

ShiningStarz · 20/08/2020 11:19

@NeuroMama your in laws seem so lovely and considerate. They'll really enjoy being with you for a weekend stress free after self isolating opposed to a quick visit wearing masks and gloves!
I don't know how I feel about it all. I would hate for my parents to not see the baby but I'm worried too. FaceTime wouldn't cut it!!

Sara7455 · 20/08/2020 11:21

@MooseWL those are gorgeous! What a talented SIL! I actually love them all! Ours are sadly much less exciting, just plentiful.

LatteLover12 · 20/08/2020 11:51

I've started washing things. Looks like the last dry day in the North East for a week at least so I thought I'd crack on with it!

I've given myself a bit of a shock at how many sleepsuits I've got (and only 7 vests 😂)

sianyflewog · 20/08/2020 12:03

@LatteLover12 I’m the other way round! So many vests as I only had white for my first, but not so many babygrows 😂

sianyflewog · 20/08/2020 12:04

Oh @MooseWL, the Christmas ones are so cute!

Lilice · 20/08/2020 12:07

@MooseWL so cute!

@Emmy2020 I stayed 3 nights but that was my choice, they were ready to let me home the day after
