How exciting @Lorna198!!! Not long now 😁 do you feel ready ?
@UrsulaSings i can also get in a bad mood for no reason but my husband knows it. He asks me if im in a mood mood and why, and i just say yes but i dont know why lol. He just ignores it. Poor him, but he's used to it now.
@Emmy2020 i hope you managed to sleep better last night

LatteLover12 · 18/08/2020 07:34

Morning ladies, I have a confession to make...

I've started reading the June post natal thread to remind myself of those early days with a newborn! 😂

It's fascinating & I recommend it for those of us up at 3am and needing some reading material!

MooseWL · 18/08/2020 08:07

@lattelover12 I think I'd rather not know 😂 I can't believe in a month or so I'll have an actual baby!
@Lorna198 that's so exciting! Is it nice having a date and knowing when it will happen? Glad they're happy with your BP and you're hanging on for a little longer!

I've been awake since 3am. Now at my desk trying to prop my eyes open with the worst heartburn. Might have to pretend my midwife appointment goes on for ages this morning and squeeze a morning nap in before going back to work 🤣

sianyflewog · 18/08/2020 08:08

We pulled a load of stuff down from the attic yesterday and now I have so much washing to do 🙈 On top of the large volumes of washing that my family already generate. I could do with that sunshine coming back!

Lilice · 18/08/2020 08:25

I feel you @sianyflewog i washed everything gender neutral i had, and also newborn and up to 3 months boy and girl so i wouldn't have to do it later. I think it took me a week to get through it 🥴

LatteLover12 · 18/08/2020 08:34

Very true @MooseWL 😂

There are women on there who have a routine in place at about 2weeks post partum 😳 I'm pretty sure I'll still be in my pyjamas with unwashed hair 😂

Four weeks to go! 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳

MooseWL · 18/08/2020 08:40

@lattelover12 jesus, if I get dressed once in the first month I'll be impressed 😂 I'm genuinely considering not telling anyone I've had a baby for the first week at least so no one comes to visit 😂

Lorna198 · 18/08/2020 08:49

It is exciting yet a little daunting! @Lilice just about ready. We own everything we need so that’s ok just the brain needs to catch up. I had an awful omg Moment last night. I’m gonna be in hospital next week with a little person looking at me and the last time I held one was 18 years ago 😂 I’ve never really been around kids but held my mates once so ya know loads of experience haha.
Guessing that maternal instinct everyone bangs on about will kick in so we will be fine!

@MooseWL having a date is so much better! I didn’t realise before how much I prefer a schedule and hate the unknown 😂

ShiningStarz · 18/08/2020 09:23

I was wide awake at 4am googling maternity bras!!!! 🙈 iv got away with a bra the odd time the last 6 months!! I find them too itchy and uncomfortable arghh but I know when they are full I'll need one for the breast pads etc !!! If anyone else suffers from itchy boob syndrome and has a perfect full coverage nursing bra, please share!!!

Laura1348 · 18/08/2020 10:35

@ShiningStarz I just got mine from
Bravissimo. Comfy and full cup!

Emmy2020 · 18/08/2020 11:17

@Lilice I did thank you, although I was awake at 4.30am eating watermelon in bed! My husband said I looked really tired still and to go back to sleep and I pretty much slept until 10am!

ShiningStarz · 18/08/2020 11:47

@Emmy2020 snap!!! I woke at 4am but waited until 6 and had tea and toast and then back to sleep!!!
@Laura1348 would you mind sharing the one you got?? I'm usually a 34C but no clue what size id be now and some of them are S,M,L opposed to sizes! Did you measure yourself??

Laura1348 · 18/08/2020 11:52

@ShiningStarz I had to get 38h I was a 36hh.

If you go to their website there is an online chat option - they 'measured me' there based on old size and where the old size was now too tight etc.
Some of their shops are open too if you're out and about- you just have to book.

OrDis · 18/08/2020 12:02

Are you guys planning on using cotton wool and water at first for nappy changes or going straight to wipes?

WillowT · 18/08/2020 12:14

@OrDis we've got cheeky wipes so planning on using them straight away (without adding the essential oil) rather than cotton wool. we do have some water wipes too if we need them.

Smilymami · 18/08/2020 13:00

@OrDis I have packed some cotton wool pads in my hospital bag just because the midwives prefer it, but if I have to clean the the first poo myself I will be using wipes.. I have got the mamia sensitive wipes.

37+2 and I am really ready to give birth now. I'm so tired, my whole body hurts. All of this cramping and contractions I have been getting daily are not translating to the real thing and they are so uncomfortable. I hate to imagine I may have to put up with this pain for another 5weeks.

OrDis · 18/08/2020 13:26

Haha @Smilymami I think i’ll pack both. Wipes do seem like they would be so much less fiddly... i’ve bulk brought a box of water wipes from amazon. I might persevere with the cotton wool for a bit in the daytime but I can see myself turning to the wipes for nightime cleanup pretty quickly!!! Far less faff!!

ShiningStarz · 18/08/2020 14:04

Thanks @Laura1348 unfortunately their NI store in Belfast has closed down now. I might do the online chat and see. Thank you :)

ShiningStarz · 18/08/2020 14:07

@OrDis someone else said on here ages ago to use wipes for the first poo as apparently it is horrendous and cotton wouldn't cut it!!! I'v packed my own cotton and a pack of water wipes x

ShiningStarz · 18/08/2020 14:10

@Smilymami I hope your ok, I am 37 weeks tomorrow and I actually feel ok, I'm so thankful as I thought I'd be heavy and tired and really feeling it. I'll be eating my words this time next week!!! Is it the cramps etc making you feel sore all over? My tens machine arrived - @Roxy8203 it's tiny!! I I imagined a huge big machine but it's in a teeny envelope 🤣 did you unpack yours? Mines in a wardrobe and I won't get a chance to unpack it until next weekend!

LatteLover12 · 18/08/2020 14:33

I'm packing water wipes for hospital. I reckon if I'm having a section and having to do that first awful nappy on my own (granny usually gets that job!) then I'm not faffing on with cotton wool.

Also, I read on another thread that if you pop some vaseline on baby's bum before it happens then it cleans off much easier!

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 18/08/2020 14:44

I’m taking both wipes and cotton wool. Will try to be disciplined and do cotton wool for the first few weeks but won’t give myself a hard time for switching to wipes !!!

Lilice · 18/08/2020 14:53

With my first baby i took cotton wool to the hospital, and the midwife asked me where my wipes were 🤣 i quickly switched to wipes and found it so much easier.

I feel so unprepared for labour. I keep falling asleep when i listen to my hypnobirthing book, and i really struggle to read anything. Does anyone feel the same? I dont even know what sort of pain relief is available at my hospital, and if there's breathing techniques i should be practising. Im just too tired and lazy for any of this 😕 I just want to relax when I have a moment to myself.
Has everyone already done their antenatal classes?

Sara7455 · 18/08/2020 15:05

We used cotton wool on the neonatal unit so stuck with that initially when I brought him home but using water wipes at night and for the really messy nappies for convenience.
The first poo is just so sticky! I pretty much used the nappy for that tbh - cotton wool definitely wasn’t cutting it!

Roxy8203 · 18/08/2020 15:06

@ShiningStarz yeah it's nice and small so you can carry it around with you and has a neck strap to wear it around your neck. We unpacked it and my other half had a go on his arm. I found an instruction video on YouTube of how to set it up and use it which was useful
