@pangolin84 I had the same at my last appointment measuring small . Midwife said they should see you within 74 hours. I was scanned the same day and from the scan measurements he was in the higher end of the bracket! My midwife said the bump measurement totally varies based on how the baby is lying etc so it's not the most accurate but their guidelines are to refer just in case (my bump was literally 2mm off where it should be and she still had to refer). So fingers crossed it's all okay for you! I was just pleased I got to see the baby again 😊

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 17/08/2020 15:55

Breech total surprise - midwife at 32 weeks has said head was down and engaged !
She measuring big on the scan so will have a glucose test in the morning and see what happens !

pangolin84 · 17/08/2020 15:56

Thanks all for the reassurance! They already called me back and I’m booked in for tomorrow - it will be nice to see the little guy again! Sadly partners still aren’t allowed in. He can go to the pub with his mates but not see his unborn baby ☹️ Makes me sad but I understand why.

Lilice · 17/08/2020 16:16

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee good thing you found out now and not in full blown labour! 🤞 your glucose test goes well tomorrow

Lilice · 17/08/2020 16:18

@pangolin84 i know what you mean, the rules dont make much sense sometimes. Glad you've got your scan sorted out and that you dont have long to wait

UrsulaSings · 17/08/2020 16:39

@NeuroMama Noone can consent to anything apart from yourself, and if you are unable to consent because you've collapsed or something, then it is the drs who will make decisions based on the best interests of you and the baby. Partners/husbands making decisions for women in labour is only really something that happens in the movies.
Also just being next of kin doesnt mean you can make decisions for people, often you need a health and welfare power of attorney, and even then that doesnt really count for much! I have to deal with mental capacity for work.

@ChipsAreLife I know I keep going through phases of relaxing and then spotting another symptom and googling it all over again and then remembering that I need to relax!

DP seems super stressed today which is making me feel stressed as well. Trying to not let it get to me but it is irritating me!

HugeAgeGap · 17/08/2020 16:56

@pangolin84 I've had two growth scans, one at 25w and one at 32w I think it was. Both times bump measuring small, doesn't even make it on any growth lines, and wasn't following a curve either, just dropped right off and down. Both times had scans that said baby completely average size, not small at all!

Thoughts were bump was initially small due to breech position then moved into being engaged and MW didn't quite measure low enough into the pelvis.

I hope it all goes well 2moro, am sure it'll all be fine :-)

Emmy2020 · 17/08/2020 16:57

@ShiningStarz Thanks, Yeah, I’ve kind of done that and used my pregnancy/nursing pillow but still can’t get comfy, I end up with pillows everywhere 😂 but I will try it tonight with pillows higher up 👍
Always hated my mattress since I got it, you can feel every spring, so got by using loads of duvets and mattress toppers but must be like the princess & the pea as sometimes I still feel springs even with all the layers 😂 So think it’s about time I get a new one.

sianyflewog · 17/08/2020 17:53

@Emmy2020 I’m only 35 weeks so baby shouldn’t come yet, and I am definitely not ready for her to! Today i finally got my husband up in the attic, so I could pull out the gender neutral clothes and measure the mattresses in the cribs... and my Moses basket mattress is the wrong size!

Emmy2020 · 17/08/2020 20:19

@sianyflewog I’m just behind you then, I’m 35 weeks Wednesday.
Ah I’m sure sure you’ll all be ready soon. I’ve done my hospital bag and got the car seat in the car so I feel Thats the main things!

Laura1348 · 17/08/2020 20:20

Hello everyone
I had a sweep today and was told that hand expressing would also help.
Has anyone got any tips how to do this?
I've tried tonight following the unicef video but no success.

Thanks for any help/advice
Xxx

Lorna198 · 17/08/2020 20:23

Well!
3 scans last week , all Dopplers raised each time. Last growth scan on Wednesday showed little one at 4.5lbs.

Scan today and 2 normal plus 1 raised by 0.01. So they are happy with that. Blood pressure showing stable so they are happy to book my c section and I will be 37 weeks +2 which will be Monday 24th August. August baby!! Currently letting it sink in that this time next week we will be parents!

Hope everyone is doing ok and you all have fun symptom spotting!

Emmy2020 · 17/08/2020 21:00

@Lorna198 How exciting! 😊

Roxy8203 · 17/08/2020 21:17

@Laura1348 I've been hand expressing colostrum for the last week. I've seen ladies say a warm flannel on your chest before and massage then for 5 minutes or so to get everything warm and moving.
I haven't seen that video but I use the opposite hand to boob and a slight squeeze on the boob then press it towards the body rather than a lot of squeezing.
I've been leaking through the night for months so having had a problem but I believe not everyone will get anything before the baby is born but the stimulation may still have the same effect even if you don't produce.
I'm not trying to go into early labour so only doing 10-15 minutes a day. If I don't get a ml I keep it in the fridge and add to it in the next session

Roxy8203 · 17/08/2020 21:19

I googled and found this. There seems to be a lot of info online

ShiningStarz · 17/08/2020 21:27

Eeeek @Emmy2020 for some reason the car seat in the car makes it all super real!!!
I'll be doing all that at 38 weeks. That's week after next arghhh. Makes it all so real 🙈

Laura1348 · 17/08/2020 21:31

@Roxy8203
Thanks so much for your response.
Hope you don't mind but did you manage to get anything the first time.
Perhaps I isn't warm them up enough first.
I will try again and use your tip of pushing towards the body- that may help.
I'm not keen on early labour but induction Monday if the sweeps don't work- which is the lesser evil 🤔

Thanks again.
Xx

Roxy8203 · 17/08/2020 21:44

Yeah I did get some off the first time but I've been leaking so much I didn't think there would be an issue really.

Trying after a warm shower or bath is good too but the same as a hot flannel I guess. Have a look at a couple more videos on YouTube, I aimed towards the nhs ones but there are some good ones on there

Laura1348 · 17/08/2020 21:47

@Roxy8203
Thank you.
NHS vids is a good idea!!
Thank you

Roxy8203 · 17/08/2020 21:49

I found and saved this too.

Emmy2020 · 17/08/2020 22:06

@ShiningStarz I know! So exciting!

UrsulaSings · 18/08/2020 00:01

I feel in a really horrendous mood this evening. I ended up shouting at DP, then I said I didnt want him to come to bed and watch tv because it would disturb me, so now he's downstairs and I'm in bed. But now I'm in bed I just want him to come up and give me a cuddle and I feel really bad for shouting at him. I hate feeling this emotional.

Sara7455 · 18/08/2020 03:09

@Laura1348 don’t get disheartened- I really struggled hand expressing colostrum even after an MCA physically demonstrated on me and tbh even she barely got anything first time, just two or three drops which she said was really good. The massage action will still stimulate things - make a c shape with your fingers and Use the opposite hand like @Roxy8203 says.
Just have a go every three hours and it should get better but honestly the midwife tried at one point and couldn’t get anything and the MCA came 5mins later and got “loads” although even that was just 1ml in a syringe so I wouldn’t expect massive volumes. Now my milk is in, I do the exact same thing that used to get nothing and easily get plenty so you aren’t necessarily doing anything wrong!

Laura1348 · 18/08/2020 06:41

@Sara7455
Thanks so much for sharing your experiences.
I think I'm just gonna keep trying. Good to know I can do it more than once a day!
🤞

I hope all is well with you and wren.
Xx

ShiningStarz · 18/08/2020 06:44

@UrsulaSings I read an article in baby center that said the closer to get to having your maybe the more emotional you become!! Could it be it's nearly your time!! Don't be too hard on yourself!! Your man will know it's your hormones lol
