Mamas and papas

Lilice · 04/08/2020 19:08

@Laura1348 isn't black pudding allowed? 😱 I've had some a few times and have more in the fridge at the moment.

@moosewl I have the same regarding breathing. I mentioned it to my midwife and she took blood to check my iron levels again as I've been borderline so far. But i think it's probably baby pushing and squashing all the internal organs.
@MatildaSoul I know what you mean, parma ham will probably go in my hospital bag 🤤

Lilice · 04/08/2020 19:09

@LatteLover12 do you eat the rind of the camembert?

LatteLover12 · 04/08/2020 19:22

No @Lilice just the gooey delicious middle 🤤

MooseWL · 04/08/2020 19:44

@laura1348 the lifting the arms really works!
@lilice my iron was 124 last appointment so pretty high I think under 105 is low in 3rd trimester (especially considering we're vegetarian in the house). You're right it's probably baby squashing things, and maybe general lockdown unfitness!

After posting about camenbert last night I got an Aldi ad pop up on fb about camenbert 👀 so creepy.

Laura1348 · 04/08/2020 19:53

@Lilice I didn't think so but I could be wrong..
@MooseWL I'm glad it works for you- it really helps me!

Currently packing my hospital bag, finally!
Feel like I’m packing so much! Taking a suitcase on wheels as it’s easier, it’s a medium size but now thinking how many packs of nappies etc should I take? Should I try and cram it all in one suitcase, baby clothes etc too or are you all taking a separate bag for baby? I haven’t really packed many clothes for myself, mainly 2 nightdresses, one big nightdress for labour, a lightweight dressing gown and I’ve been basically living in the same maternity dress so was just thinking of taking that to go home in or should I pack more day clothes?? Help! 😂

HugeAgeGap · 04/08/2020 20:19

@Emmy2020 I'm taking a small cabin bag suitcase for everything and I'm having a planned section and have packed for a two night stay! I've no idea what people are packing that means they can't get everything into one case/bag?!?! I'm using a Googled hospital bag list so don't think I've forgotten anything but I've had a section before and just know some of the stuff on those lists are just ridiculous things to pack I ignore most of it and going with the essentials I know I'll actually use. I'm a light packer anyway so this suits me :-)

Sorry that's not much help! x

Lilice · 04/08/2020 20:34

what size nappies is everyone getting? I've added some pampers size 1 to my online shopping. Is anyone getting size 0? It's says it's up to 2.5 kgs. Seems tiny.

Lilice · 04/08/2020 20:36

@Emmy2020 ill pack nighties for my stay, and plan an outfit for going home, maybe also some leggings and tops too. I'm the opposite of @HugeAgeGap and always pack too much haha

Emmy2020 · 04/08/2020 20:40

@HugeAgeGap My things aren’t taking much room at all, the things taking most space are the maternity pads and box of breast pads!
Things I think that will take the most space are the nappies, not sure if I should take a whole pack or just a few? And the baby clothes, wipes (or should I just take cotton wool?) etc. Think my suitcase will be crammed! Would of taken a travel bag but think being able to wheel it will be much easier!
I know it was a long time ago now but strangely I can’t remember packing my hospital bag for my 2 previous children, maybe I’m overthinking it as I never even went on the internet when I had my girls and now there’s so many lists and things you should take that I keep reading about 😂

Chanel05 · 04/08/2020 20:42

@Lilice I packed my hospital bag today. I have a packet of size 0 nappies and I've packed 4, just in case and 12 size of 1 nappies.

Emmy2020 · 04/08/2020 20:43

@Lilice Yeah I’m an overpacker 😂
Just looked at some of the packs of nappies that I have they say newborn size 2, maybe I should get size 1! not sure if size 2 will be too big? Are you taking a whole pack? It’s difficult to know what size baby clothes to take as well.

Emmy2020 · 04/08/2020 20:44

@Chanel05 Ah I might do the same then.
I am guessing if we run out the hospital will have spare anyway?

Lilice · 04/08/2020 21:09

@Emmy2020 maybe a small pack? What brand are you taking ? I think size 2 might be too big. Size 1 is up to 5 kgs, but that's the pampers.

Is that size 0 pampers @Chanel05?

Emmy2020 · 04/08/2020 21:15

@Lilice I can’t remember the brand got lots of different ones. I’ll see if I have size 1.
So I’ve managed to fit everything in the suitcase will just add some baby gros and a hat and think that’s it done. Just then going to take a small rucksack for my husband with snacks, drinks etc. Got packs of cereal bars today as I thought they will keep us going.

LatteLover12 · 04/08/2020 21:17

Ooh bag packing!

I'm going to take 10 size 1 nappies and if I end up staying in longer than 24 hours DP can drop some more off. I've bought water wipes for hospital too. I've always used cotton wool and water previously but it's such a faff.

I'll be in a hospital gown in theatre and then until my catheter is out so I'll probably only need a nightie and a going home outfit which will probably be a maxi dress if it's warm and leggings if it's miserable!

I'm planning on taking 3 vests, 3 sleepsuits and a couple of hats for baby.

I think my bulkiest things will be my towel and a blanket for baby.

I don't think I'll need loads of breast pads because I never have any milk until about day 3!

I also think I'll be packing loads of food, sandwiches, chilly's bottle, flapjack etc as the food at my hospital is beyond disgusting.

Emmy2020 · 04/08/2020 21:35

@LatteLover12 Thank you! That’s a great list. Think that’s what I’ll do regarding my clothes, take one top and leggings and then just my dress which no doubt I’ll be wearing there and maybe a cardi. I’ve got a pack of the water wipes too, have got one pack of cotton wool just in case as well. Will add the baby clothes tomorrow. Will be a relief once this bag is packed. I have kept putting it off as been so exhausted but had a bit of energy this evening so thought I’d get on with it!

Lorna198 · 04/08/2020 21:44

Thanks @Sara7455 @ChipsAreLife @Lilice

They think it’s just normal pregnancy high blood pressure.
They’ve upped the 2nd tablet I’m on again to see if that makes any difference. They have said there is no way I will be allowed home unless they manage to control it and if that is the case a csection will be booked for 37 weeks if I have no other symptoms that relate to preeclampsia. Currently 34+3 so there’s a strong chance I could be here for the long haul and they will monitor me accordingly. Also today’s scan once again showed raised dopplers on 2 of the flows so that will be checked again in a few days.

I know I’m in the right place. I know I’m being looked after but Jesus I could do without this lol

Emmy2020 · 04/08/2020 21:51

@Lorna198 Hope you’re okay!

ShiningStarz · 04/08/2020 22:02

On bag packing, I packed mine last week!! I squeezed all my stuff in a weekend hold all. I did pack shorts&vest and button front nightdress as well as nipple cream, pads. I did a separate one for baby, I only packed 20 x pampers size 1, cotton and wipes with the clothes etc. I was thinking partner can bring more if required.

Lilice · 04/08/2020 22:04

Oh @Lorna198 just two more weeks, i hope those will fly by for you and it won't be long before you're home with your baby. If your partner able to come visit you?

Lilice · 04/08/2020 22:04

*is

Chanel05 · 04/08/2020 22:14

Yes that's Pampers size 0. I don't think I would have but I have a friend who's baby was born at full term last week at only 5lb! So I thought I ought to bring some littler sizes just in case as I don't have a huge bump (not that bump size is an indication of anything!).
