Oh no @chanel05, glad it's all okay!

Looks like we're all in the same boat why is side sleeping so uncomfortable. I'm constantly awake flipping from side to side which I think is adding to the tiredness. I'm definitely needing a nap again it's like being back in the first trimester!
I keep getting really bad shoulder pain from sleeping on it!
I went for a walk with friends on Saturday and my back was killing after!

On a positive note I've rearranged my furniture upstairs and got the spare room clear and my dad is coming down today to paint it for me 😊 can't wait to have the nursery all set up. And picked up a bedside cot from my friend too which I've borrowed just need to get a new mattress for it! So exciting!

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 06/07/2020 07:27

Yes the constant flipping over and joint pain and waking to pee is not helping much with the fatigue haha oh dear !!! Also have the distance feeling that I might be starting to waddle !!!!

ChipsAreLife · 06/07/2020 08:09

@MooseWL I was the same Saturday, we walked solidly for 1.5 hours at a good pace. I then took kids out on their bikes and my back was I agony!!!

Re hips I'm finding Pilates really keeps my pain at bay. There are some routines on YouTube so I would try those if you can.

I'm absolutely shattered too. I'm not sleeping too badly but DC have been waking up early and it's always when I'm in deep sleep! I remember this from last pregnancies though just feel constantly tired as due date gets closer. Have all the naps you can!

Another hand up for spending all night flipping because of hip pain, and then being tired in the day. I've been trying to do a little yoga/stretching in the day as I've heard that can help ease it (no notice a difference so far, but I guess it's good for general labour prep!). I'm finding laying or sitting in any position is now uncomfortable from either hip/back ache or causing acid reflux to be worse due to reclining. I don't think this last trimesters is gonna feel very restful! Especially since we still have half a house to decorate (move in a new house during first trimester). I keep thinking about how peaceful it will be to go on mat leave and just focus on baby. FTM delusions there maybe haha

Laura1348 · 06/07/2020 09:50

@Chanel05 I've started to have pains behind belly button- like he is swinging on it! I just thought it was him moving?🙈
They don't last very long. How would I know if they're Braxton hicks? Thanks

@HugeAgeGap I have a 12ft pillow from
Asda £20. I fold it over (head on the bend) so that when I flip I have a pillow between legs, and it also seems to stop me from ending up on my back- that worries me too.

ShiningStarz · 06/07/2020 10:21

Snap here with the crap sleep!! I wake at least twice to use the loo and sometimes I wake with pain on whichever side I'm lying on and then switching to the other side isn't most comfy either!! I'm worried I'm lying too heavily on one side!! Is that possible?!

MooseWL · 06/07/2020 11:43

@laura1348 I have the smaller one from asda direct.asda.com/george/baby/baby-feeding/breastfeeding/kinder-body-caterpillow/050297394,default,pd.html?cgid=D5M16G1C3
But I love it. Don't want to give it up once I'm no longer pregnant!

Laura1348 · 06/07/2020 12:19

@MooseWL I love mine but I think it will have to go once the boy is here- it's like there's a whole extra body in the bed🙈🙈😂

Laura1348 · 06/07/2020 12:21

What are people thoughts opinions on newborn sleep time?
I have a Chicco next to me in my bedroom ready but should I have a downstairs option too?
I've read somewhere that you shouldn't leave napping napping baby alone in the first few weeks. So my idea of putting him in the next to me bad with monitor seems nil and void.
I do have a hand me down Moses basket I could use (need new mattress£ but wondered what other mums did.
I'm FTM and it's all new.
Sorry for the ramble and thanks
Laura

Laura1348 · 06/07/2020 12:26

One more question (sorry). Am thinking about having a play with news steriliser but just wondered how long, on average, will a sterilised bottle last before it needs doing again?
Thanks

OrDis · 06/07/2020 12:27

I’m also tossing and turning all night. If I have the pillow between my legs I overheat and get uncomfy, but if I don’t then I wake up really stiff. Sitting is also very uncomfortable now. I’m used to sitting with my feet up but thats so uncomfy now because it pulls on my bump 😩.

I’m off to the hospital this afternoon for an anti—D injection as i’ve got rhesus neg blood. Hoping it won’t give me arm ache!

Sara7455 · 06/07/2020 13:15

@Laura1348 - on the sterilising: my steam kit says it’s for sterilising stuff “after use” and the storage bottles from the hospital are all “pre-sterilised“ and kept wrapped in plastic so assuming you store everything properly I’d say the sterility lasts more or less indefinitely?

Laura1348 · 06/07/2020 14:07

@Sara7455 thanks. I just wanted to have a little play with the steriliser and once done I was going to put the bottles in a cupboard until they are needed.
I need to find something to do to stop me from buying more beautiful nappies!!
Hope you and wren are well
Xx

MooseWL · 06/07/2020 14:38

@laura1348 I've got a next to me for upstairs too but hopefully borrowing a moses basket for downstairs. People say it's easier to have one up and one down to save carrying stuff about.
Though was also thinking if I can't get the moses basket (from my cousin in wales and there's still travel restrictions) could possibly nap downatairs in the pram carrycot as that's flat.

Laura1348 · 06/07/2020 15:03

@MooseWL thanks! Had t thought about the carry cot- great idea!

ShiningStarz · 06/07/2020 16:03

@Laura1348 I'm not sure if I'v over done it! I got the snuz pod 3 for
Upstairs and then the babylo snug sleeper from smyths for downstairs. It's bigger than a Moses basket and thought as we'll prob be indoors a lot the first 6 months that it was worth buying a separate one for downstairs. Think it was £70. Can always sell it afterward

WillowT · 06/07/2020 16:16

@Laura1348 I'm planning on using the carry cot that comes with out pram for downstairs. You can buy a separate stand for it and is suitable for overnight sleeping.

Roxy8203 · 06/07/2020 16:47

@Laura1348 I'm planning gin using the crib bit from the pram when downstairs and have a chicco next to me for nights.
And I've preordered 3 nappies today. They are so addictive 🤦🏼‍♀️

ChipsAreLife · 06/07/2020 17:12

@Roxy8203 I'm planning gin is a great typo 😆😆😆

I've got a snuzpod where the top comes off so can use that downstairs in the day but I've also got a sleepyhead for day time. Pram is good too. To be honest both of mine wouldn't be put down for a few months so I just had them cuddled on me! Thank goodness for slings.

Laura1348 · 06/07/2020 17:21

@ShiningStarz thanks- I may look into
The snug sleeper- if my hand me down basket looks a bit ropey!
@Roxy8203 @WillowT the carry cot is also a great idea- will look into whether the pram company does a stand for mine!
@ChipsAreLife I wish I'd though a bit more about this earlier that snuzpod sounds like a game changer!
Thanks all

Laura1348 · 06/07/2020 17:23

@Roxy8203 you'll have about 20 nappies by the end of the week now you've stared. It is super addictive! 😂😂

Roxy8203 · 06/07/2020 17:27

@Laura1348 oh these aren't my first, I just can't stop myself buying them 🙄

Oops I type too fast and never read my messages before posting them, really should learn to do that

Lilice · 06/07/2020 18:17

so I saw my midwife today and was quite disappointed. There was glucose in my urine but she won't send me to do the diabetes test. She wants to wait until my next appointment which is in 4 weeks to see if there's still glucose in my urine. I asked her to go before then, but she told me not to worry as i have no other factors and apparently it was just a small amount of glucose. Not sure what to think of it. I've ordered some urine strips to test at home, but wondering if i should get that device to check directly the glucose levels in blood.

Also she wouldnt refer me to the physio for my back pain and sciatica, so I have to ask my gp.

Lilice · 06/07/2020 18:18

@ShiningStarz I also asked about the pain at the top of the bump, under the boob, and she said it was heartburn or indigestion 😑 I think she's lost the plot

HugeAgeGap · 06/07/2020 18:44

@Lilice I also ordered some at home kits when my glucose was high at 16w MW appointment. The at home test strips, I made sure to do with first morning urine and it always came clear, no glucose. Went to 24w MW appointment and again had glucose in urine for second time! But that wasn't first morning urine, it was after breakfast, so I think that's where mine was high on both occasions, because it was urine after eating breakfast. I had the tolerance blood tests done after the two positive glucose ones at midwife, and all came back fine think that was at 26weeks I had that.

You can have plus 1, plus 2 etc on the glucose tests with MW, and I think that's according to which one you were on in relation to the colours on the test strip so that might be what she meant by "low". x
