@ShiningStarz I have a cat too and we're worried about the same. Lots of people say that they stay away when babies are small because they don't like all the noise so I'm hoping that that makes her stay away from the baby.

We'll be watching the baby at all times to make sure she doesn't jump in the crib/snuzpod

UrsulaSings · 07/08/2020 19:55

@Sara7455 that's brilliant to hear you have your little one home. Sounds like your dog is excited about the new member of his pack!

@ShiningStarz thank you I havent heard anything yet, but she said it could be 24 hours so hopefully wont hear anything tomorrow either as they only contact you if they need to.

2 of the people from my antenatal course have been admitted to hospital tonight as they are having their babies!! Its made it so real that it could happen at any time! I cant wait for that to be me going in to have little man!

ShiningStarz · 07/08/2020 19:55

@CNovittBolden 🤣🤣🤣 it's like having another baby to watch 👀🤣🤣🤣

CNovittBolden · 07/08/2020 20:00

@ShiningStarz 🤣 I just don't want her to feel like she's been forgotten about

ShiningStarz · 07/08/2020 20:03

@CNovittBolden I plan to get mine wet food as a treat! She only ever usually gets dry food so when we come home I'll make sure she gets wet food for the first few days!!
Our cat isn't allowed out of the kitchen at night. It's more the daytime I worry. Iv seen cat nets that fit pram / small carry cot which would do but think I'll see how we go first as she may not take any interest at all !!

CNovittBolden · 07/08/2020 20:20

@ShiningStarz we've put a baby gate up to stop the cat going in the nursery and deciding to sleep everywhere new and soft. The net sounds like a really good idea.

I think we're going to give her dreamies as a treat - she loves those!

Piper1879 · 07/08/2020 20:24

@Sara7455 congratulations on Wren being home !!! It's lovely news

To all the cat mamas , I've two very spoilt British blues who are house cats , hoping they'll be fine , but don't think they'll want to sleep with him , they tend to sleep in the bath or at the foot of the bed but I guess that could change.

It's been a scorcher here in the midlands so I've been hiding indoors hoping it cools down.

I've found the bounty packs ok , Asda was good as it had a few extra bits in it. Anything like that I've put in my nappy caddy's , I've kept one spare one in the car as well in case of emergencies.

Will be full term on Wednesday which is scary !

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend

Smilymami · 07/08/2020 21:05

@Sara7455 congratulations on Wren coming home. Must feel fantastic... Can't wait to have my own baby in my arms too

Emmy2020 · 07/08/2020 21:55

@ShiningStarz @Lilice @MooseWL @LatteLover12 Thank you 😊 In our apartment now, it’s absolutely gorgeous! First time staying in an Airbnb, very impressed! The owner has even stocked it with Waitrose things for breakfast!

@ShiningStarz bet you’re glad to have finished work 😊

ShiningStarz · 07/08/2020 22:12

Sounds fab @Emmy2020 have a well deserved break and pamper time.

@CNovittBolden the reviews of the cat net aren't great as it's not hard so cats just get on it and flatten it anyway!!! I'm thinking it'll just have to be a very close eye!! Thankfully my partner is working from home until
The new year so there's an extra set of eyes !!!

@UrsulaSings I saw someone say that very hot weather can trigger labour. I'm hoping I can keep cool enough as not sure I'm mentally ready yet but should probably get my head around it

annie1994 · 08/08/2020 03:50

Hello!

Is anyone else suffering from bad itching!? It’s all over my body and driving me mad! I mentioned it to the consultant at my 36 week appointment (I’m 36+4 today and due 1st September) but he didn’t really seem concerned and didn’t think it was Obstetric Cholestasis.

Anyone know any creams that may help??

ShiningStarz · 08/08/2020 06:48

@annie1994 I haven't personally experienced it but he should have really done a blood test to rule it out. I think someone one here has been diagnosed with it so hopefully they'll see your message. Hope it gets better soon.

ShiningStarz · 08/08/2020 06:50

I can't remember who I was talking to
About rockers , soothers, swings lol but wev decoded on this one. There is a cheaper version of same thing but it doesn't fold down so we are going for the one that does. I'm likely to be a parents a bit especially from 3-6 months so thought it was the better option.

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 08/08/2020 07:26

Does anyone else have Brixton hicks during the night ? They wake me up and I think the baby is coming !!! I don’t think I’ve had any in the day!!

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 08/08/2020 07:27

Can anyone recommend a decently priced baby crib? We had borrowed a friend’s but they are pregnant so need to get one pronto now but they seem so expensive given that you don’t use them all that long !! Cheapest I found was 70 quid from IKEA

ChipsAreLife · 08/08/2020 09:29

Morning! I've actually been ok in the heat. Closed all my windows and curtains etc and house stayed fairly cool. I sat out in for an hour under the parasol and that was enough lol.

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee ah that's annoying! Maybe look for a second hand one? They are expensive for something not used for long!!

Enjoy your weekend away @Emmy2020! Air bnb is fab!

@annie1994 I think the itching can be indicative of a liver problem, I would call your midwife or MAU and ask their advice. But skin can also get dry and itchy, I use aveeno.

Got my 36 week scan on Tuesday and they've just relaxed it so DH can attend 🥳 still haven't eased the rules around birth or post natal busting though 😢 really dreading that!!!

LatteLover12 · 08/08/2020 09:35

Have you got a Moses basket @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee? They sell reasonably priced ones online at Asda (the George home bit).

Failing that I'd have a look online for a second hand one and just buy a new mattress.

ShiningStarz · 08/08/2020 09:42

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee I bought this for downstairs, it's bigger than a Moses basket and can be used obviously night and day. Reasonably priced and prob has decent resale value. I'm keeping all boxes and packaging in attic so I can resell.

ShiningStarz · 08/08/2020 09:45

@ChipsAreLife that's great your husband can attend the appt!! My partner is only allowed to attend private scans. The hospital have said partners only at 12,20 and 30 week appts!!! I'm nervously awaiting second wave once schools go back but hopefully won't affect us too much with delivery etc. Still so many unknowns 😢

HugeAgeGap · 08/08/2020 10:01

I had three cats when we had our first. Neither of them wanted to be anywhere near the baby with its crying and unpredictable moving around! They really did keep their distance!

The only thing they did was sneak into empty car seat and Moses basket or blanket etc, never when the baby was near though.

As for the dog! I don't think I can be much help with that reaction to the baby noise. When ours was a puppy we used to play this CD with all these different noises on, crying, fireworks, gun shots etc. We played it low to begin with and each today slowly turned the volume up. At the same time as the noises we just carried on as normal, trying to be quite calm rather than winding her up and now through ANY noise our dog can fall asleep and makes nothing of it. I'm hoping she's the same with baby crying noise. I think have a Google and see what u can find, u want pup to be calm and take no notice of baby noise rather than hear it and be on high alert or be excited! But I don't know how to get to that stage from where u currently are though! xxx

emma278 · 08/08/2020 11:09

Worried about our cats too. Well we have 2, one is good as gold and never really here but the other is very clingy and naughty. Im already on our second brand new moses basket as he wee'd in the first one and i couldnt bring myself to use it so had to chuck it in the skip! £80 later! We keep the nursery door closed but when baby is in with us if we shut the bedroom door the cat will have a meltdown and scratch and scratch the door. Im hoping he will just hate the noise. We will have to keep a very close eye on him. X

Lilice · 08/08/2020 13:47

@annie1994 my gp gave me a prescription for a cream called dermacool, for the itchiness. It works great. But like others said, you should ask for a blood test to rule out anything else

Lilice · 08/08/2020 13:55

@ChipsAreLife great news about your husband being able to attend 🥳
@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee I haven't felt any braxton-hicks yet. As to the crib, maybe a moses basket is a cheaper option? And then maybe invest in a cot bed? My son will be 5 in a couple of months and is still sleeping in his cot bed, converted into a bed of course

Smilymami · 08/08/2020 14:56

@annie1994 I have been experiencing the exact issue.. I'm 36wks too. Terrible itching worse at night, no rash. I contacted the ADAU and I had blood test to exclude obstetric cholestasis (pregnancy related liver issue) as that's the most important to exclude, luckily I tested negative. It might just be itching caused by skin stretching. But i think u should insist on having a liver function test too, to make sure.
