Oh flip @Lilice !!! Sounds horrific!! When did you have to decide on the definite c section?
I think I have scans now every 2 weeks as I'v GD and they need to keep an eye on growth. That'll be 31 / 33 / 35 / 37. Don't think I'll go over 38/39 again due to GD. Thanks xx

Lilice · 29/06/2020 10:18

I had the ecv at 37 and 38 weeks, after the second failed one they booked me in at 39 weeks for the c section. I went into labour two days before the date, they scanned me to check if he had moved, and went on to have the c section. Wasn't bad after all. I was devastated at the time but at least the birth was peaceful and painfree.

ShiningStarz · 29/06/2020 10:46

@Lilice what was the EVC like? Did you need gas and air?? Is there not a chance they will flip round again??

Lilice · 29/06/2020 12:17

@ShiningStarz I didn't have gas and air. It's not supposed to be painful. They did give me an injection to relax the muscle, and it might bring on labour so they were ready to operate just in case. The first time, i told them to stop because I was feeling too anxious they'd hurt me. The second time, the consultant decided to stop because my baby wasn't moving at all. He'd turn a bit, and then just come back to where he was.
In my case my baby just didn't want to turn, but i think most babies do. If I remember well, only 3% of babies stay breech. So the odds are that yours will turn. It's still early days and you have plenty of time. I wouldn't worry too much about it at this stage. I think babies that eventually turn were going to anyway.

Hello! Hope everyone had a good weekend.

I think my little one is flipping regularly in there - noticeable kicks to the ribs most days and the cervix on others (with a cerclage I’ll take the rib kicks any day!)

I have a low lying placenta too, so hoping that moves by the rescan 🤞🏻

What bottles would people recommend purchasing? I breastfed my daughter for 9 months without issue and hopefully can do the same this time, would like to be prepared though - just in case!

Here is a bump pic from yesterday @ 28+4, carrying quite low!

@Lilice ok fingers crossed that in the next 5 weeks little one does a flip!! I'm
Not sure when the consultant will
Need to book in c section if required.

@glasha87 lovely pic!! Lovely to see everyone's big bumps now 😊

sianyflewog · 29/06/2020 19:25

@Margo34 in the experience of me and my friends, the men have tended not to be that excited. My husband likened it to sky diving 😂 when you know you’ll be ok at the end, but the build up and thought of it is terrifying. He never liked to go looking for anything baby wise, he didn’t want me buying anything until I was gone 20 weeks. But he’s actually the worlds best dad - I’ve just been lying on the bed listening to him being a pirate while our little boy is in the bath 😂 It’s my favourite time of every night, listening to their funny conversations/play time! Im sure your partner will come around, it’s just the fear of the unknown!

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee I’m having a section this time, I had an elective for placenta praevia last time and like @HugeAgeGap I didn’t like the risk associated with VBAC when you haven’t had a previous natural birth. I had a bleed during my last one, so if it happened again I’d much rather be in theatre for them to deal with that than be in a delivery suite and them not know the source. My consultant was really quite happy for me to choose whichever I liked - just went through the risks of both, and said she’d see me at 36 weeks to book me in if section was still my choice.
@ShiningStarz My placenta also led to H being breech, they thought he probably didn’t have enough room to turn because of the position. He was absolutely fine, had the hip scan at 6ish weeks and he’s never had any problems. I really wouldn’t fancy trying to birth a breech baby though - my eyes water at the thought!

@Laura1348 No real advice on a blanket - I have a nice light one from Sainsbury’s but I have a feeling they may have gone into the sale as I can’t find it on the website anymore. I really want the White Company satin edged cellular blanket, but it’s out of stock so I am (not so patiently) waiting for that to come back in stock!

Spent an hour this afternoon in the antenatal day assessment unit, as baby’s movements have been different last night and today. Still there, but very faint. Was put on the monitor and heartbeat was all fine, but on a number of occasions where you could hear movement and heart rate accelerated I couldn’t feel anything! Think it’s down to baby’s position overall - I never had this trouble with baby boy, must be cooking a drama queen this time!

Laura1348 · 29/06/2020 20:25

@sianyflewog thank you- oooh white company! Lovely

Can I ask what is VBAC?
Also I've got placenta praevia- it had moved slightly in 28week scan but not enough to take away diagnosis!

sianyflewog · 29/06/2020 20:31

VBAC - Vaginal Birth After Caesarean.

Hoping your placenta moves for you, the fact that it’s started to move is hopeful - mine didn’t move at all! Xx

HugeAgeGap · 29/06/2020 20:35

VBAC = vaginal birth after caesarean
:-)

Laura1348 · 29/06/2020 20:53

@sianyflewog 👍 thank you. I hope it moves too 🤞🤞
@HugeAgeGap thanks!

Piper1879 · 29/06/2020 21:27

Hi all hope everyone's doing well , I've mostly slept the whole weekend. I've not been doing well in this heat at all !! I'm pleased it's cooled down 😊

@mostlyambridgeandcoffee , I'm debating it , I'm high risk due to my weight and baby is already measuring big so my consultant has brought it up as an option to look at. But I'm still unsure. I also feel like as my SPD gets worse it might be more painful to have a vaginal birth as I can't open my legs too wide 🤣

@sara7455 so pleased to hear Wren's updates ! And pleased you've got back to your home hospital , I bet that's certainly easier on you all.

@Laura1348 I'm bringing a large muslin from Aden and anais and a Muslin blanket from mattiemiloansbarneytoo.com

Lazydaisydaydream · 29/06/2020 21:34

@glasha87 is that a Gustav Klimt tattoo?? 😍😍

ShiningStarz · 30/06/2020 09:07

@sianyflewog I don't fancy it either and I know it's a bit silly but I'm worried enough without trying to deliver a frank breech and then it's an emergency c section. As I'm
Going private my consultant allows elective sections but I'd only opt for it for medical reasons. As someone else said it's early yet and hopefully by 35 weeks little one will turn 🤞🤞

glasha87 · 30/06/2020 11:49

Thank you @ShiningStarz ❤️*@Lazydaisydaydream*, it is ❤️ I got it done years ago - love Klimt.

If anyone’s looking for something nice to rub on bump - LUSH’s Therapy massage bar is just lovely! Bulk ordered some more.

WillowT · 30/06/2020 18:41

How's everyone doing?! So glad it's cooled down now, last week was awful!

Had my 28 app today and it was so nice to finally see someone face to face, made such a difference and they were so friendly. Luckily everything was as it should be which is always reassuring.

MooseWL · 30/06/2020 19:10

@willowT yeay glad your appointment went well! I've got mine in a week and a half 😊
I've started with heartburn this week. Never had it before it's the worst!

WillowT · 30/06/2020 22:01

@MooseWL good luck with your app next week, it's so reassuring to have it. Heartburn doesn't sound fun...I haven't had it yet. Fingers crossed it stays that way!!

Lazydaisydaydream · 01/07/2020 06:59

@glglasha it's gorgeous! One of my favourite paintings.

I'm so glad the weather has cooled down, I was struggling to sleep with the heat.

I've started getting really anxious. Just constantly feeling on edge. I think it's maybe just the cumulative effect of lockdown. Im actually more worried now things are easing up! Went in a shop for the first time since beginning of march yesterday and felt like I was going to have a panic attack Sad

ShiningStarz · 01/07/2020 07:09

Morning everyone!!
I'm 30 weeks today 💜
Has anyone started washing washing baby clothes and sheets etc?
I had thought of doing this beginning of Aug, I'll be 34/35 weeks then. Swiftly followed by packing hospital bag.
I bought baby detergent and might get comfort baby fabric conditioner.
Hoping for better weather and I can dry it all outdoors!!

Laura1348 · 01/07/2020 07:43

@ShiningStarz morning. I was 30weeks on Saturday.
I've washed blankets, muslins, sleep bags, and some nappies (although nappies need to be washed 2-3times) . They are now in a box all ready for nursery furniture.
I'm leaving washing his clothes for a couple of weeks however, I am washing the clothes he needs for hospital bag. Went through what to get at weekend and the did some internet buying! Didn't have all the stuff I 'need'. Once it's here it will be washed and packed.
Hope that helps.

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 01/07/2020 10:00

Haven’t started with the washing though have got the baby clothes from my toddler out of storage which is a start!!! I reckon may start in a couple weeks!

LatteLover12 · 01/07/2020 10:30

Hi everyone, just back from my midwife appointment - first one in 20 weeks!

28+2 today

I spoke to her about colostrum harvesting and she didn't feel that I would need to as I successfully fed my two boys for almost a year each. She said if I really wanted to then not to start until 38 weeks. I think I'll probably give it a miss, it seems like a lot of hassle tbh.

Our 'big' purchases have started arriving. We finally decided on the iCandy peach, ordered it from JL and it's arriving today! Car seat, cot and mattress also on their way this week. It's getting real!

I'm not going to start washing things until I can hang them out on the line, I'll probably start mid August.

What sort of bag is everyone taking? I had been looking at a storksak but £150 seems ridiculous so now I'm considering just using my little wheeled suitcase (cabin bag size). What's everyone else doing? I'll probably take my change bag in with baby's things separately.

ShiningStarz · 01/07/2020 10:32

Thanks @Laura1348 and @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee it sounds like I may get started a bit sooner!!
I'v a scan next wed (31 weeks) so
Maybe I should start washing then!
I have I think 7 sleepsuits NB, 6 up to 1 month and then more in 0-3.
I think I'll wash just the NB for now as I'm unsure if if I'll need the up to 1 month!!

ChipsAreLife · 01/07/2020 10:47

Hello everyone, yes to the cooler weather, I normally love the heat but I'm running so hot at the moment I hate it!

@Lazydaisydaydream I agonised over vbac vs ELCS with my second. I felt like such a failure first time and thought I should try vbac but the thought of it all happening again was too much for me and I went ELCS at 40 weeks. That said we agreed if I went into labour before 40 weeks then I could try but they would intervene pretty quickly if things weren't happening. Maybe that's an option?

My ELCS was a completely different experience l, although I did react to the spinal it was calm, I was rested, I remember most of it 😆, recovery was ten times better. Was walking a good 30 minutes the week later. It's a really hard decision but just do what feels best for you.

Also on feeling anxious I think that's normal. Just remember the risk of catching it in a shop is incredibly small especially as the rate is 1 in 2000 at the moment. I feel more at risk in hospital for my apps than anywhere else!

@Sara7455 sounds like Wren is going well! And pleased you are too. Hopefully the next few weeks fly by and you can get him soon. I bet you can't wait.

@ShiningStarz def don't worry about baby position yet, probably doesn't feel it but it's still got space to move, it's more after 35 weeks they don't turn.

@glasha87 looking lovely!!! I've always used MAM bottles to give mine expressed milk, it's the only ones they would take! I've got two little ones as plan too express enough in the day for DH to do a late feed so I can sleep 🤞

@Laura1348 I just took a cellular blanket. It's gets so hot in hospital and it'll still be mild in Sept (hopefully)

On The hospital bag and washing I'm a bit laid back about those things.... with my second I packed my bag a few days before I was due 🙈

I'm starting to feel really tired and sickness is back again 😡, I always remember this last party being hard and time slowing down again. My bump is rock solid and I'm struggling to bend down which I didn't have with the girls so wonder if I've got a boy!!! X
