@glasha87 I hope I'm that lucky! 🤞
@Emmy2020 keep them in the bank wait till your little one is here and see what suits.
Friends of mine have had names but they changed when they see the baby- that's why I'm not 'releasing' my name yet! 😂😂

Lazydaisydaydream · 23/06/2020 21:22

For my son we had a shortlist of names but didn't share with anyone until he was born and we made the final decision. I learnt a lesson from my best friend who told people the name they'd chosen before the baby was born...then when she had her she changed her mind and said it didn't suit her. But everyone was already calling the baby the original name and she felt pressurised to stick with it. So she did! I'd have changed it and not cared about anyone else, but thought better to avoid that situation altogether!

This time we just have one girls name (what we would have called my son if he was a girl) but can't decide on a boys name...my husband wants a form of William after his grandad. I like it but not sure I love it.

Margo34 · 23/06/2020 21:40

@NeuroMama I'm due 26th Sept with my first, too! 💛

We have a shortlist of girl names but really struggling with boys names.

This week my baby's kicks have started to feel really tickly, like I cannot actually stop twitching and laughing whenever they happen! Made for a very awkward staff zoom meeting earlier today 😂 Is it just me or anyone else finding this too?!

NeuroMama · 23/06/2020 22:31

We are struggling with names! The reason we found out the sex was so we only had to decide on one name 😂, and then obviously he's a he and boy names are the hardest 🤣

MooseWL · 24/06/2020 07:10

Boys are definitely the hardest! I think we've got 2 narrowed down now. One of them someone I'm fairly close with at work has a son with the same name and I was like ohhh would that be weird. But as my midwife said someone's always going to have the same name and as long as its not a close family member just go for it!

MooseWL · 24/06/2020 07:12

Though we and now my partners family are still calling the bump Rupert, I can't stop it's going to get very confusing 😂😂

WillowT · 24/06/2020 12:16

We're really struggling on boys names. The one I really like means all three of us would have the same first initial and surname and it's already confusing with the two of us!! I just don't like boys names, none of them for or don't do with the surname!

Think we have a girls name sorted now but have a shortlist just incase we change our mind when they are born!

WillowT · 24/06/2020 12:17

Also, how are you all coping with the heat! Tips welcome!!

LatteLover12 · 24/06/2020 12:46

I've got every window and door open @WillowT

The one upside is that the kids are finally off their devices and outside again! Slight downside is they're playing on my birthing ball as if it's a launch pad! 😂😂😂

sianyflewog · 24/06/2020 13:01

Boys names really are so hard! With Harry, he was always just Harry but we really struggled to agree on names we liked this time round! Luckily, our girls name has always been the same - although I like a long version of it, and my husband just likes the short version. We never told anyone Harry’s name before he was born, mostly to avoid Harry Potter comments from my MIL, and we will do the same with this baby. Don’t want anyone’s opinions to put me off, and both our mothers always have opinions 😂 The middle name will be after both our sisters though (who have the same name).

Hope everyone’s well and coping in the heat. I was just contemplating eating lunch outside until I actually went out there. Came on for pants advice! Did someone buy knickers that they recommended?

ChipsAreLife · 24/06/2020 14:05

It's funny we have loads of boys names we like. I find girls names more polarising. They can be quite floral/romantic/whimsicaletc which a lot of people don't like We also have two girls so it's even harder.

Re the heat, I was born and grew up in a hot country. Here's how we used to do it. Shut your windows and blinds/curtains after about 8 am and then don't open till 6/7 when it's cooler out. If it's warm out you're just letting the warm in. Fans are great. Take your duvet out the cover and just use the cover at night. Lots of iced water, cold flannels on forehead if you feel hot, cold showers and just take it easy when it's this warm. Even hanging out the washing is hard work! X

True - which is why I’m currently sat in the shade of the kitchen looking at my washing line 1/3 full 😂

ChipsAreLife · 24/06/2020 14:41

@sianyflewog 🤣🤣 it's hard as love this weather as get so much washing done!

@ShiningStarz not been diagnosed yet but I have my test tomorrow morning and I had it last time around so fully expecting to have it this time around. Have they set you up with your blood monitoring machine etc?

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 24/06/2020 15:14

It’s waaaaaaaaay too hot here in wales today!!!!

baggies · 24/06/2020 15:17

Is anyone having PGP? My daughter is really struggling with it. No physio at the moment. Midwife again unhelpful. Had anyone used a girdle? She's just using heat packs, hot water bottles, having baths and using her pregnancy pillow. Walking and standing are a struggle at the moment.

OrDis · 24/06/2020 15:25

I agree @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee! I’m also in Wales and I feel disgusting today. So sweaty ugh.

ShiningStarz · 24/06/2020 17:49

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee I got the meter and al that today. They said
I'll probably need insulin injections starting in 2 weeks time!!
Baby is 2lb 10oz so on track for week 29. Pleased with that, just got to learn to count my carbohydrates and manage the sugar levels!!

MooseWL · 24/06/2020 17:56

I thought I was okay as my house is fairly shady (the only perk of living under a giant oak) then I went to the postbox and oh my lord. The thigh sweat was so bad I felt like I'd wet myself. Being preggo is so glamorous.

Emmy2020 · 24/06/2020 18:43

@ChipsAreLife I agree, all windows closed, curtains closed and in my bedroom where the curtains aren’t blackout ones I’ve tucked a dark blanket in so it is a bit darker. Air conditioner downstairs. Been out all day which is unusual for me, went to a nearby lake/river with my children and stood in the cold water while they swam it was so lovely and shady could have stayed there 😊

ShiningStarz · 24/06/2020 19:45

When should ya pack a hospital bag??

How often will you need the injections for? Your poor thing.

I've been absolutely dripping all day today. It's just so hot! I feel like I have a heater strapped to me!

ShiningStarz · 24/06/2020 21:15

Oh no @CNovittBolden I'm in N.Ireland and it's not too bad here, think it to hit 23 degrees tomorrow but not as bad as you lot are getting !!
Yep
Injections 4 x a day 😫

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 24/06/2020 21:35

@ShiningStarz hopefully they’ll give you a couple weeks to see if can diet control before going straight to insulin and they usually start with metformin before insulin I think. I found the Gestational Diabetes Facebook group a real lifeline and godsend last time round esp for help with what to eat!!

ShiningStarz · 24/06/2020 21:44

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee thanks for the tip, I'v joined some support groups, well requested to be added! I crave sweet stuff so it'll be hard but I'm determined to be well controlled to avoid the insulin!! 🤞🤞
