Hi all 😊 hope it's okay to join late!
I'm due on the 4th September with my first and expecting a girl 💖 so close now for everyone!

OrDis · 23/06/2020 12:22

Welcome @NeuroMama and @Miltonj!

ChipsAreLife · 23/06/2020 12:25

@Sara7455 yes!!! I had to have three lots of the drug as it dropped so much. I already have low BP so it didn't help! Ha... but drastic to get it down 😆

@chanel05 thanks for the list!!!

@Miltonj @NeuroMama never too late!! Welcome 👋

@Laura1348 I was induced with my first at 40 +11. Had the pessary and contractions started within an hour. I was able to use the pool and walk around etc. Unfortunately I had a succession of things to a bit haywire for me but the induction was straight forward. All I would say is my contractions were strong and close together quickly which is common as it's not gradual like natural labour. So just mentally prepare for that. Why are you being induced if you don't mind me asking? X

Hi all , welcome to the new members ! Finally getting through all the posts !!

@Chanel05 my due date is my birthday ! 02 September and I'm 💙

@Shiningstarz deffo recommend tuppence star wraps I picked up some off eBay and sold the ones I didn't like , you can get them for about £5 if you're quick !

@sara7455 so pleased to hear Wren's news ! What a little fighter

@OrDis I am planning on living in my bath the only cool place. My house is flat roofed so it's a nightmare in this heat !

OrDis · 23/06/2020 12:58

@Piper1879 haha! I was thinking I wish I had a paddling pool or something I could just lie in 🤣. Not sure balancing my laptop in a pool of water would be a very sensible working from home strategy though lol!!!!! I might put my feet in a bucket though 🤣

Sara7455 · 23/06/2020 13:06

@Laura1348 not from personal experience but from people I was on the ward with last week - early induction can be a long old process. A lady I was on with had to have three lots of the pessary before her cervix dilated enough to have her waters broken so she was on maternity waiting to go to delivery Thursday afternoon until the early hours of Sunday morning and having tightenings for most of that time. I think she found the whole thing a bit drawn out and frustrating. The midwives were saying it can be quite common for it to take that long when they induce at 38weeks just because you’re not entirely ready yet. She did say with her first though the first pessary did the trick and it was a nice easy labour so I guess it varies

Laura1348 · 23/06/2020 13:08

@ChipsAreLife thanks for this. He's an IVF baby and I've got loads of complications. That's the plan for me at the moment- it may change but I doubt it.

Emmy2020 · 23/06/2020 13:10

I’m due 23rd September, a girl!

I’ve got told because I’m 40 they won’t let me go over 40 weeks so I’d get induced. Not sure if that means I’d get induced before 40 weeks or they would do it at 40 weeks? Didn’t think to ask at the time!

Laura1348 · 23/06/2020 13:10

@Sara7455 I had read it could be a long old process😳. Thank you.
Bit nerve wracking but nothing I can do... just hope mine is a quick one!

Sara7455 · 23/06/2020 13:13

@Laura1348 hopefully it will be a quick one! I don’t think she was in particular pain or anything, it was just frustrating for her that it was taking so long. She was still sleeping and eating etc.
She said she was more upset that because of covid visiting rules it meant she hadn’t seen her little boy for three days and obviously really missed him!

Laura1348 · 23/06/2020 13:21

@Sara7455 thank you🤞🤞
I'd miss my husband. Good to hear not too painful- that helps- thanks
Xx

Lazydaisydaydream · 23/06/2020 14:36

@Laura1348 I had a "sort of" induction - went in for my induction appointment (I was actually going to decline the induction) but when they put me on the monitor I was already having contractions. Had been for two days just didn't realise what they were Blush. So they broke my waters and put me on the drip (so avoided the pessary). The drip ramps up your contractions very quickly and makes them very intense so definitely think about what pain relief options you would like. I also was strapped to wires the whole time which I found really frustrating as just wanted to move around - found out afterwards they could have done wireless or intermittent monitoring if I had asked, but I had no idea and no-one offered it Hmm.
Unfortunately ended with an emergency c section which I think my induction contributed to (mainly them breaking my waters so early on). If I was going to do that again I would definitely ask more questions about each stage, and have thought more about pain relief. Remember you can decline or agree to any part of it - just because you agree to be induced doesn't suddenly mean you have to just agree with whatever they suggest next.

ShiningStarz · 23/06/2020 14:37

Anyone else been diagnosed with gestational diabetes? The joys of pregnancy !!!

Laura1348 · 23/06/2020 14:42

@Lazydaisydaydream thank you. Sorry about the way it went. If it goes ahead, I will deffo be asking about it all now.
It's my first baby and all so new. It's nice to have you guys to ask.
Thank you

emma278 · 23/06/2020 15:04

@ShiningStarz i had the test last weds they said they call if anyhinf but i havent heard so not sure if i wouldve by now? I had +1 glucose in my urine. Have you? X

ShiningStarz · 23/06/2020 16:06

@emma278 my urine was clear when I was in last fri. I'm a bit shocked to be honest but apparently it's quite common!! You would have heard by now if you had it. My clinic said they only phone the positives.

emma278 · 23/06/2020 16:08

Its hard when they do that as its so open ended!! Yes very common and manageable i believe, just means you can cook a bigger baby i think xx

ShiningStarz · 23/06/2020 16:33

Flip @emma278 I think it also means they can't let you go over EDD so potential c section depending on weight! Little one was 1.5lbs at my 25 week scan so it'll be interesting to see what the weight is tomorrow at 29 weeks.
Just went for a little walk and feel wrecked! Felt so good few weeks ago and now I'm really starting to feel it!! Good old 3rd trimester lol 🤣🤣

emma278 · 23/06/2020 16:36

I feel the same @ShiningStarz hang the washing out and im done in haha! X

Laura1348 · 23/06/2020 16:44

I'm the same @ShiningStarz - was feeling so good and now I feel like I need a nap by 2 no matter what I've been doing! 🙈

Emmy2020 · 23/06/2020 17:23

Has anyone already chosen their baby’s name?

Laura1348 · 23/06/2020 17:30

@Emmy2020 yep! Had it since week 6 ( always thought it was a boy) but keeping it a secret just in case it doesn't suit him when he arrives 😂😂😂

Emmy2020 · 23/06/2020 17:42

@Laura1348 I’ve got two names I like but really don’t know which to go for. It’s so difficult to choose!

glasha87 · 23/06/2020 19:15

@Lazydaisydaydream I remember when my daughter would nap! I lived for it. I can’t even get to sleep now.

I too was brought in to be induced only to find out I was in the early stages of labour. They broke my waters also but everything progressed very quickly and I had her within a few hours of arriving at the hospital. I was only pushing for about 10 minutes. I’d love to be guaranteed such a straightforward birth again but a bit of a difference between 20 and 32 😏 Plus all those procedures in between!

We’ve chosen our girl’s name! We’re Irish and my family have a tradition of quite strong Irish names so it’s in keeping with that.
I like two (one is a recent contender) but my daughter and my fiancé like the one we decided on originally! To be honest, I feel like it’s her name now and I couldn’t change it if I wanted to.

ShiningStarz · 23/06/2020 19:34

@Emmy2020 wev a few girls names in
Mind but only 1 boy name!!
