The fan follows me everywhere 🤣

sianyflewog · 24/06/2020 21:51

@Chanel05 Add me to the list please! 20/09, team pink! 💖

@ShiningStarz Sorry to hear about your GD. Are you feeling ok? Are you able to try just diet control to start? I have my test on Friday x

ShiningStarz · 24/06/2020 22:21

@sianyflewog they've asked me to complete a diary and they will review it in 2 weeks. It's likely as pregnancy progresses the GD gets worse so insulin is inevitable no matter how well controlled the diet is. I will give it 110% though and fingers crossed. Hope your year goes ok xx

ShiningStarz · 24/06/2020 22:21

Your test !!! @sianyflewog

Emmy2020 · 24/06/2020 22:24

@Lilice Me too 😂 23 degrees here at the moment 🥵 The lowest will be 18 tonight arghhh it’s so hot

Lilice · 24/06/2020 23:20

@Emmy2020 we had 29 degrees today! Im in Essex. I like the heat though, feels like on holiday. I do need my fan though, i leave it on all night too.
@ShiningStarz sorry to hear about your GD. Hopefully you will get it under control

Lilice · 24/06/2020 23:27

@sianyflewog i just buy my usual knickers but a size up. But i made a mistake last time and ordered full briefs. They felt too tight around my tummy so i got a pair of scissors and started cutting them on the sides. I then realised i was doing it in front of my daughter!!!! I told her obviously only mummy is allowed to cut her knickers with scissors 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Emmy2020 · 25/06/2020 06:59

@Lilice Yeah was the same where I live in Wiltshire. Got in my car yest and it was 42degrees 😂🥵 Meant to be 30 today. Actually going to go to a shopping mall today as John Lewis is opening so hope it’ll be nice and cool! 😂 Just hope there’s not long queues! Gonna try to get there early! Fingers crossed!

sianyflewog · 25/06/2020 08:01

Good luck shopping @emmy2020 - I cannot wait to get to Cardiff!

@ordis @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee Where in Wales are you both? I was the same yesterday, like a bath of sweat. I just lay around in my bra and pants from 6:30 onwards 😂

ShiningStarz · 25/06/2020 08:10

I'd say it's a perfect day for the shops!! @Emmy2020 most people will be outdoors!! Enjoy and let us know what you got. I ordered A fair bit of stuff from JL, they had gorgeous neutral farm animal newborn bibs which are just so cute!! I'm so glad everything is in the attic where I can't stop staring at it!!! Have fun ☀️ 🛍

OrDis · 25/06/2020 08:13

@sianyflewog @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee. I’m in Cardiff. Not been back to the city center yet, it’s too far to walk from ours and the public transport is still a bit weird. I’d love to walk around the St Davids Center in the aircon though... wen’t to Aldi yesterday it was so nice and cool haha!! It makes me miss the office actually... we always had good air con (sometimes too good lol)

sianyflewog · 25/06/2020 08:18

@OrDis Ahhh not far from me, I live in Pontypool so about 25 miles to Cardiff. I can’t wait to get to St David’s, hoping I can take H down on the train for Disney shop and Hamley’s treats and the birthday lunch he never got to have - just hoping it won’t be Christmas style rammed when we do! Xx

ShiningStarz · 25/06/2020 09:18

If anyone can recommend when to pack a hospital bag and what to have it in, it would be much appreciated!! With GDiabetes I'll not be allowed to go over 39 weeks and it's likely it will be around 38 weeks. I'v another scan in 2 weeks so was going to start thinking about a bag then (I'll be 31 weeks then).
I'v been googling cheap light long vest top to wear for labour, any recommendations? Want skin to skin straight away so avoiding the higher neck nighties. Xx

ShiningStarz · 25/06/2020 09:19

@Sara7455 how are you and baby wren? 💙

ChipsAreLife · 25/06/2020 09:37

Its so warm here too, last night my bedroom was still 27 at 3 am :(

@ShiningStarz re bag I think they advise from around 35 weeks, however if you're worried do it before. Just be aware baby won't fit into the nappies/clothes if born before then but I know you're provided with those initially by the hospital. sorry to hear about the GD I know a couple of people who had it and they managed it well through diet and had healthy babies

Hi @ShiningStarz sorry to hear about the GD diagnosis! My friend had it with her first and all the injections and sugar checks were a real pain but she’s fine now and lo is the most beautiful 3 year old.

Wren is doing brilliantly. Hopefully heading back to our local hospital as soon as they can sort the transport- fingers crossed anyway!!

ShiningStarz · 25/06/2020 09:42

Thanks @ChipsAreLife I'll go with 35 weeks. Don't want the bag sitting too soon either! Just bought these from matalan.
Was looking for something cheap and light that I don't mind throwing out, 2 pack nighties for £10 pretty good. The other one is for now lol it's roasting!!!

Lilice · 25/06/2020 11:55

I can't remember what I wore when I was in labour with my first 😑 I think I was even completely naked at some point as I was in the pool, the rest is blurry. But i had bought a nighty in matalan that buttons at the front, to easily open it for skin on skin. I had a false alarm at 36 weeks (was unprepared) and had her at 37 so 35 weeks sounds like a good week to pack.

@Sara7455 glad to hear Wren is doing great 😀

ShiningStarz · 25/06/2020 12:07

That's great to hear @Sara7455 😊😊

Thanks @Lilice I have read other websites saying pretty much what you said about labour being a blur!! I probably won't care when it comes to the time but if I had a loose light clothing just in case lol I'd feel much more organised!!

Sara7455 · 25/06/2020 12:15

@ShiningStarz I’ve heard a button front nightie is a good shout so you can unbutton for skin to skin and don’t have to worry about taking bottoms off at any point.
I was in a gown for the c-section (and realistically basically naked for most of that) but only had pjs with me so the next day when I still had the catheter and midwives wanting to check on the bleeding etc I was stuck naked from the waist down with just a sheet over me for a tiny bit of dignity until the catheter was out 🙈

OrDis · 25/06/2020 12:30

I’m a pyjama girl, don’t think i’ve ever worn a nightie in my life, but reading all your stories it sounds like getting some will be a good shout for labor- if only to maintain some dignity lol!

MooseWL · 25/06/2020 12:36

I don't even wear pyjamas. Can't stand clothes in bed so I really need to sort that out for hospital 😂
I don't think there's anything dignified about labour at all 🤣

Sara7455 · 25/06/2020 12:58

@OrDis literally the one time in my life I wished I owned a nightie - ha! To be honest though, at the time you don’t think too much about it and I doubt the midwives etc are thinking of anything much beyond getting the baby out safe and making sure you’re ok. I can’t imagine child birth being a dignified process for anyone really and they deliver so many every day!

Lazydaisydaydream · 25/06/2020 14:22

I've bought a cheap button front maternity nightie from boohoo for labour. I had a similar one from primark last time but had long sleeves which really got in the way of all the wires from cannula etc. And yes a nightie is handy for afterwards if you need a catheter as can't wear pants.

www.boohoo.com/maternity-button-front-nightie/BZZ46658.html?color=105

I remember being really ill in the middle of the night at about thirty six weeks last time and suddenly panicking that actually it was labour and I hadn't packed a bag...so going to do it a bit earlier this time haha. I've bought a new bag to use so have already started chucking some stuff in it as I buy (like breast pads etc). My husband packed his bag super early last time and I'm already having to hold him off with his as feels too early Grin

ShiningStarz · 25/06/2020 14:58

@Lazydaisydaydream what's in your hubby's bag?? I did say to my partner he'd need a bag but he laughed it off lol !!

I bought the same nightie :) want to keep it good though for after baby.
The matalan ones were £5 and if one gets dirty and thrown out I'll not mind!!

Thanks ladies!! I'm definitely a Pj person too but I fancied shorts and top I can wear now and then if it's warm in Hosp it'll do too and low to enough to feed, I so hope I can feed 🤞🤞🤞
