@Sara7455 congrats and what a beautiful name for a beautiful boy !! Welcome to team boy !! Take it easy on yourself and so pleased you're both doing so well !! 💙💙💙

ShiningStarz · 16/06/2020 16:23

Awwww welcome into the world baby Wren, I love the name. @Sara7455 congrats I'm so glad the hospital you are in have taken great care of care and your little one.

It's feels so weird to me that we now have little babies in there that can breath on their own!! An odd feeling.

Chuffed for you xxx

ShiningStarz · 16/06/2020 17:23

I had a few hours where I didn't feel much movement last night. I phoned the hospital and they said drink or eat something sweet and lay on side. Well I fell asleep waiting to feel something but pleased to say all was kicking this morning at 4am. I'v downloaded a kicks app so it counts and times when I feel movement. Thought
It best to start tracking. There's always something to worry about !!

sianyflewog · 16/06/2020 19:45

@Sara7455 Huge congratulations to you - welcome to the world Wren! So glad you’re both doing well, he is certainly in the safest hands. Take care of yourself too my lovely!

I came here asking for a recommendation on a non-alcoholic dry white wine as I’m really craving it - I’ve tried some and they’re pants. Seems a bit trivial when there’s babies being born!

Sep20baby · 16/06/2020 22:05

I caved and booked a 4d scan for next Saturday! My local window to womb had an offer £135 reduced to £79 so couldn’t resist! Not sure if the offer is at all window to womb clinics but may be worth a look xx

Lilice · 16/06/2020 22:45

@Sep20baby ooohh thank you for the tip, ill check out my local window to the womb
@sianyflewog I have no recommendations for wine as I only have beer and cider, but interested to find out too

Sara7455 · 16/06/2020 23:08

@sianyflewog Waitrose do some pretty good alcohol free wine options I think. We had some at Christmas when I was trying to pretend I wasn’t pregnant to people - can’t remember which exact ones I tried as I’m also usually a cider person but there was loads of good choice!

baggies · 16/06/2020 23:42

Has everyone had their whooping cough jab?
My daughter's midwife said she won't be having one as they're trying to reduce the times she has to go to the hospital or doctors? Why she couldn't have given it whilst she was physically seeing my daughter I don't know.

Lilice · 17/06/2020 00:00

@baggies I had mine at the hospital when I went for my 20 week scan
@Sep20baby I've just booked my 4d scan yay! Thanks again for the tip, I managed to get the same offer as you. Can't wait now hehe

ShiningStarz · 17/06/2020 04:43

@baggies the gp surgery did mine. Maybe worth a week phone call.

Sep20baby · 17/06/2020 06:33

@Lilice awww great! Exciting! I wasn’t going to, but then saw the offer and couldn’t resist and sends likes ages until I next see her again Smile @baggies I’ve got mine booked this morning at GP surgery, when I called to book though they were reluctant to book me in but I advised my midwife said I needed it and then i got the booking. It is strange how things vary so differently in each county.

MooseWL · 17/06/2020 08:24

@baggies I was given mine at my 20 week scan. Is your daughter having any face to face appointments? If it was me and I wanted it I'd push to get it through either the midwife or the GP. It's an important protection method for the baby and I don't think corona virus should affect it. I haven't seen any thing from NHS England but if you search NHS Scotland have said vaccinations are essential and a valid reason to leave the house.

OrDis · 17/06/2020 08:25

Just caught up! @Sara7455 congratulations! I’m glad you and Wren are both ok and that he is breathing on his own. Hopefully you’ll heal from the c section nice and quickly.

WillowT · 17/06/2020 08:35

@baggies I had to go to a clinic they set up. I was meant to have one at 20 week scan but it wasn't set up in time. I'm finding my local maternity Facebook page very useful as they are posting info about what/where to go etc rather than relying on midwife to tell me. There should an immunisation clinic running which is where I got mine

sianyflewog · 17/06/2020 08:59

@baggies I had mine when I was 16 weeks, along with a flu vaccination - midwife stressed how important it was, as baby doesn’t have the vaccination until they’re 8 weeks. Tell her to ring the GP surgery and request it.

@Sara7455 I do need to go to Waitrose actually so will have a little look! I’ve been having cider, which I love in the hot weather, but I’m really craving nice white wine!

Chanel05 · 17/06/2020 09:17

Congratulations @Sara7455 glad to hear that you're both doing well. Wren is a lovely name!

baggies · 17/06/2020 09:53

Thanks everyone. I'll tell her to get on to her midwife and arrange it.

Sara7455 · 17/06/2020 15:07

We’re doing good thanks. I’m currently determined to master walking again - unclear whether it’s the week in bed or the operation that have made it harder - ha - My back hurts as much as anything I’m finding. C-section itself was actually a really positive experience and the midwife got a load of amazing birth photos for us but I’m probably being a bit wimpy about the recovery! Wren is still doing well and is as much inspiration to get up and walking as I need - will no longer need to wait for a wheelchair to go see him then!

@sianyflewog our Waitrose has a huge low/non-alcohol section, if yours is at all similar then I’m sure you’ll find something good!

@baggies definitely she should chase it up. It sounds like the different trusts are handling where you get the vaccine differently (mine is another where the GP is doing them) but she should definitely get the vaccine from somewhere.

ShiningStarz · 17/06/2020 15:47

Great to hear you and wren are both doing well. I'v been thinking of you both. Take care and don't be trying to do too much too soon. The hospital you are at sounds fab.

emma278 · 17/06/2020 16:51

@Sara7455 Huge congrats! How lovely. Glad everyone is doing well and make sure you dont overdo it! Have you been able to have cuddles? X

Sara7455 · 17/06/2020 16:58

Thanks @ShiningStarz - the hospital really is excellent. Obviously no one dreams of having to spend this long at one ever but the staff here are fantastic and doing such a great job.

@emma278 - I have indeed been able to have cuddles. Skin to skin is obviously meant to be great for them so hospital are keen. I’ve been going down after my dinner and having bedtime snuggles with him while they change his sheets which is really nice. They’re keen for me to be able to change his nappies and so on once I’m reliably steady enough on my feet too- definitely a motivator!

emma278 · 17/06/2020 17:44

Ahhh thats lovely @Sara7455 so glad you are able to have cuddles.

I had my 28 week midwife appt today, +1 glucose in urine so took blood for diabetes test and my bump is measuring big 🙈 about 3cm larger than it should be. She said it may be that im tall (5ff7) and im hoping its not diabetes 😰

Bubble29 · 17/06/2020 20:02

@emma278 my midwife mentioned the diabetes test is different from what they normally do, to minimise time spent in the hospital. Was this the case for you?

HugeAgeGap · 17/06/2020 20:13

@emma278 I had the glucose tolerance testing done last week. Not too bad as was allowed to drive home in the 2hr gap between the bloods, usually they make u wait in the GP waiting room!

I asked how many ppl usually test positive and she said not many at all in comparison to the amount of tests she administers these days. Apparently if I don't hear back within 2 days it's a negative, so I think I've avoided that one! Hopefully 🤞🏼 you do too!!

emma278 · 17/06/2020 20:43

@Bubble29 mine was drink 17 glucose tablets mixed with water then blood test an hour later.. if i fail that then the one where you wait for 2 hours as mentioned by @HugeAgeGap xx
