Oh right. This sounds different to the one my midwife mention- she said at my hospital they're doing one where there isn't any need to wait for 2 hour or something, I don't know how it will work but I guess I'll find out next week.

sianyflewog · 17/06/2020 21:38

I’ve got my GTT replacement next week - they’re just taking bloods after fasting, in the same way they test for regular diabetes.

Bubble29 · 17/06/2020 22:08

@sianyflewog now you've said it I've remembered that's what she said 👍🏾

ShiningStarz · 17/06/2020 22:20

It's the HbA1c test rather than OGTT as I had the HBA1c instead too. I didn't fancy drinking the solution then sitting in my car ! How did they think I was going to wee lol

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 17/06/2020 22:24

Hi all! Glad to have found this group ! I’m due on 13th September but will be a planned c section a week before all being well! Anyone else feeling exhausted at this stage ?! Have recently been told have anemia but wouldn’t have thought that would have had such an impact!

ShiningStarz · 17/06/2020 22:36

Welcome and congrats @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee do you know what you are having? Is it your first? I'm team yellow !! Keeping it as a surprise.

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 17/06/2020 22:47

Thanks!! Ah I didn’t have the willpower to be team yellow! It’s pink this time! Have one little boy who is 20 months

ShiningStarz · 17/06/2020 23:31

Aww a lovely age gap and I'm sure your excited about meeting your
Little girl!! 💜

ShiningStarz · 17/06/2020 23:33

We put all our baby items that don't need washed in the attic! I actually can't get over how much I'v bought! Essential items mostly!! Officially in the third trimester today 😊

ShiningStarz · 17/06/2020 23:35

I bought nimble laundry love detergent (buy one get one half price boots).
Any tips on washing little ones clothes would be great! I usually wash my own clothes using persil non bio, also have a bio for stains

Sara7455 · 17/06/2020 23:55

Welcome @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee!

@ShiningStarz we stashed loads of ours in the attic as well - house was getting overrun with “essential” baby items.

Also would like tips on washing baby clothes! I’ve got sensitive skin myself so hoping I can just wash his clothes in the same stuff but I hear babies are super sensitive!

And mums who have breastfed / expressed before - recommendations for nipple cream or anything to make it more comfortable?

Lilice · 18/06/2020 00:28

Welcome @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee

@ShiningStarz i use non bio detergent and no fabric softener
@Sara7455 I used something called Lansinoh but that was years and years ago so might be other better products around now

ShiningStarz · 18/06/2020 06:53

Hey @Sara7455 I bought lansinoh cream and the breast pads too.
Hugs to baby Wren 💙

Sara7455 · 18/06/2020 07:06

Thanks ladies - will get some on order. Think OH will be pleased when I’m home and have less free time for sending packages to the house - ha! The lansinoh is an important one I think though!

MooseWL · 18/06/2020 07:06

@mostlyAmbridgeandcoffee hiya! I'm almost 25 weeks and have a nap most days after work because I feel exhausted! I imagine having a 20 month old adds to the tiredness! I'm sleeping terribly at night as well, I hate sleeping on my side so wake up constantly to turn over!
@sara7455 I've already started on the lansiloh cream as I get eczema on my nipples and pregnancy hormones made it worse it was awful but the lansiloh is heaven it's made such a difference.

I got severe mid back pain last night to the point where I had to sleep on the floor in a whole range of odd positions for a bit to try ease it. I kept thinking if I think this is bad how am I going to cope in labour whilst I was rolling around on the floor 🤣

Lazydaisydaydream · 18/06/2020 08:02

I had the two hour glucose test a month ago, they let me sit in my car for the two hours instead of staying in the waiting room. It makes me feel so sick I was literally stood at the side of the car park taking deep breaths trying not to throw up (they make you redrinj the solution and start again if you throw up!). Bet anyone passing thought i was in labour haha. When I had my 28 week scan they picked up that I have polyhydramnios again (had it last pregnancy) and one of the causes is diabetes...so I have to go back and redo the stupid test tomorrow!! Gutted!

Sorry can't remember which poster said their bump was measuring big - have they referred you for a scan to see if it is fluid or baby?

My back is in pieces this morning, absolutely agony. I don't normally let my toddler watch TV but I'm lying on the sofa and he's watching some rubbish while eating his breakfast. Don't know how I'm going to make it through the day!! Confused

emma278 · 18/06/2020 08:14

Hi @Lazydaisydaydream it was me. The mw didnt seem worried as it was first measurement and i am tall, plus I was 8lb 3 myself. She said if the gluvocse test comes back normal they wont take action as long as bump grows on right trajectory... just hoping for normal test results 🤞🏼🤞🏼 x

Lilice · 18/06/2020 09:01

@MooseWL @Lazydaisydaydream aww i hope the back pain eases, I know how painful it can be. Don't feel guilty for using the TV if you're in such pain. I would do the same. I had severe pains in my previous pregnancies and see a chiropractor helped a lot. Maybe you could go see one, if it's safe enough?
I'm also sleeping terribly. I always wake up an hour after falling asleep, at 1 or 2 am each night and then struggle to go back to sleep until 4 or 5 am. My daughter is back to school but luckily my OH does the school run the morning.

Laura1348 · 18/06/2020 09:11

Hello all- I'm 28+5 at the moment and it's lovely to read all your posts. It's reassuring to see people have the same worries as me.
Congratulations to@Sara7455!
In terms of nappies- I've also ordered from tots bots with the half price offer in the kits- just got to wash them now! Up to 10times 🙈🙈🙈

ChipsAreLife · 18/06/2020 09:42

@Sara7455 hope you're feeling ok? Just take it steady, not only have you had major surgery but you were unwell before that so your body needs rest. Just take your time and don't compare to others who bounced back. With my first I felt wrecked for weeks.

And yes to Lansinoh! It's magic. Your nipples will really hurt to start I found keeping them cool with a cold flannel and not having material on them to let them breath helped. Hard when you're in hospital but maybe sit in the loo for ten mins with your bra off!

Sorry to hear about the back ache. I ended up doing a 10k Walk last as was chatting with friends, my hips after were soooo sore!! Trying to keep up with Pilates is helping keep pains at bay so maybe try that? I do one on YouTube by BodyFit by Amy.

Re washing clothes. I would just do in regular detergent, then do a rinse wash after as it will take any residue off that may irritate the skin.

Welcome @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee? And congratulations! I’m expecting a little girl too, due 20/09, and have a little boy who’s 3.

@ShiningStarz We are still in the process of moving bedrooms around, and redecorating - feels like no end! I’ve thrown away an unbelievable amount though, which feels good. Need to get all the stashed clothes down from the attic for a sort out, take out the neutral and get rid of the definite boys stuff. Luckily I have two friends with baby boys so I can just palm it all off 😂
I have always used Fairy washing powder & fabric softener since having H, because I just love the smell. Never had any problems, so worth a try @Sara7455. Is Wren wearing anything yet or just in a nappy? How is he doing?

I also used Lansinoh cream with H, and will use it again this time - it’s like magic 😉

Lazydaisydaydream · 18/06/2020 10:58

On the washing, I have sensitive skin so just used the same stuff I'd use. And our machine has a baby cycle which includes an extra rinse at the end to make sure no soap residue on the clothes - have a look and see if you Have that option? Otherwise could do a manual one after the wash is finished.

Im quite excited about washing all the baby clothes and hanging them out on the line - I remember when I was pregnant with my son that was the moment it really hit me we were going to Have a baby 😍

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 18/06/2020 11:45

Aw what a good bunch!
I have my diabetes test next week but because of COVID where I am they are doing a different one where they test you and you go straight home (rather than the wait 2 hours job). I did have Gestational Diabetes last time around so expecting the same news ugh!!!!

OrDis · 18/06/2020 12:00

So 7 boxes of nursery furniture just arrived! 🤣 good luck to my DH trying to get that upstairs on his own!! It weighs a tonne!
