Babymaher · 15/05/2020 12:28

@umabb thank you I’m sorry you had the same kind of experience. I was pretty gutted considering that will be the last scan.

Gigitree · 15/05/2020 12:30

Haha @umabb yes I know what you mean 😂 it was such a weird feeling the first time it happened!

BabyBird20 · 15/05/2020 12:48

So I have officially been signed off so mat leave starts today!! Such a mix of emotions, guilt for abandoning my class and huge relief that I won't have to sit at my desk any more!! Time to get the house ready and sort out my bags etc at last, feel like I am entirely unprepared for life with the actual baby!!😬😬

umabb · 15/05/2020 13:01

@Babymaher I know how you feel, being rushed and not knowing things that we wanted to know/wanted to see. Good news is that baby is fine and we get to see them quite soon now - we don't need scans to see them anymore xx

APD1981 · 15/05/2020 13:59

Great news @Babybird20. I've got to admit, I've been very lucky as my work load is minuscule now I'm not teaching year 11. They were my year group to plan for across the department and sort out all their exams etc and I did a load of prep at the being of lockdown but it's not been needed. I had to spend some time yesterday doing some GCSE to A level transition resources and I plan and mark my A level student's work but other than that, that's all I've had to do. So lucky. Had I still been in school I'd have gone off about 35 weeks I think. I'm struggling with discomfort now and I sleep so poorly that I don't think I could've coped. So I still don't need to start my mat leave officially til 2nd June after half term and I'm due on 7th!

Rest up now and relax. Don't let teacher guilt enter your head. Just take some time for yourself and your baby x

Kez437 · 15/05/2020 14:49

Just place marking for now Smile

chocolate26 · 15/05/2020 14:58

Has anyone got/had aches in their joints? My elbows, knees, ankles and hips seem to be really achey over the last few days! It feels an effort to stand up on my legs!

Rinoa · 15/05/2020 15:20

@Babymaher same my last scan at 36 weeks the sonographer didn't talk much and her arm was in the way of the screen so I couldn't see much. No pictures either but I did find relief to know everything looked good. That's all I wanted in the end. But I agree it's not a pleasant experience to have very short answers

Rinoa · 15/05/2020 15:21

@BabyBird20 today is my last day of work! I look forward to naps but that's about it, I'm hoping not to go stir crazy these next few weeks !

BirdGarden · 15/05/2020 15:22

Hello Ladies - I know it's really late in the day but do you mind if I join you? Always looked at Mumsnet threads for info and advice but never signed up or realised there are birth clubs!

I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and have done almost nothing to get ready for this baby, it's my second, my daughter is one. We use all reusable stuff, wipes, nappies, pads etc and I tried to buy all unisex clothes for her (got a loada girly-whirly gifts but anything I bought is unisex); so I know it's all in the house somewhere. I found leftover maternity pads, a packet of cereal bars and moved my washbag into a backpack last weekend - I will have to give birth by myself as restrictions mean my daughter can't be looked after by anyone else, so hubby will stay with her and drop me in hospital car park (hence backpack so my hands are free to lean over walls having contractions!). Not put up the changing table or next2me cot, found clothes, nappies, checked if the moses basket will fit in the living room (moved house when my daughter with a few months old). I'm finishing work on my due date. I am so convinced this baby will go to 41-42 weeks that I've already been through all my "overdue" options with the midwife!

Am I totally mad? Husband is threatening to report me to the rest of the family for lack of sanity Blush

Had a growth scan this week as I only measure 30cm still at 36 weeks but baby is 38 weeks long and 34 weeks head circumference; I don't know if they're a boy or girl but I think I've accidentally grown a baby giraffe. I've also only put on half the weight I did with my daughter despite the same starting weight (I am quite small to start with). Is that a second time mum thing?

Huge congratulations to the first "June" mum FlowersCake

Busylizzie85 · 15/05/2020 15:29

@chocolate26 my knees, ankles and hands have been aching a lot last few weeks! I struggle to get from seated to standing as my knees feel so week especially towards the end of the day.

APD1981 · 15/05/2020 15:32

Welcome @Birdgarden. You're due the day before me and I think the same day as @newbyxx. This is a lovely thread - very friendly and supportive. If you go to the beginning of the thread you'll see a link to a spreadsheet where you can enter you due date so we can track our babies!

It sounds as though you have everything pretty much sorted in the sense that you have stuff from your first baby you can reuse. Just gotta get it out and set up now!

We were talking about where to put the crib in our room this morning and so DH brought it in there from the nursery so we can get used to maneuvering around it. Feels very real seeing it there ready to go!

BirdGarden · 15/05/2020 16:54

Thank you @APD1981, I do love a spreadsheet

This is my arguement; I know I own things needed to keep baby warm, comfortable and stop poo going everywhere - just need to find and wash those things and put some of those things in a bag!

LillianFullStop · 15/05/2020 20:11

@BirdGarden looks like you have most things already and don't have to worry about deliveries arriving etc (most things taking longer than usual right now)

When baby comes the washing will be constantly on the go anyway!

BirdGarden · 15/05/2020 21:33

@LillianFullStop it already is; between soldier husband and one year old half in cloth nappies and half potty trained - that washing machine is my right hand man! Grin

Should I feel bad for not having a hospital bag packed or having any stuff out/found/organised though?

This baby is giving me such hell you just know they'll stay in there as long as possible and make the most of it!

peetieswie · 15/05/2020 22:31

@anonyHB gosh, that would be huge! I'm really hoping mine is just a weird bump measurement but my skin has felt tighter recently. I've cut out all sweet stuff and trying to eat less but don't want to go hungry as that seems dangerous.

Anyone else not had a scan since 20 weeks? So many of you seem to have regular scans? I really want to know baby position rather than midwife guess as I'd hate undiagnosed breech and I'm trying to sit forward so not back to back but don't know if it's working. Do I get another scan before labour?

APD1981 · 15/05/2020 22:35

I've not had another scan since 20 weeks either and it does sometimes feel like I'm the only person in the world who hasn't! I just hope everything is ok because baby hasn't been seen for 17 weeks!

umabb · 15/05/2020 23:12

@BirdGarden welcome to the club ! The ladies here are amazing very friendly :)

Had a scary evening. I accidentally picked up a heavy shopping bag (who have toddlers to look after might laugh at me!) , but then the whole stomach became tight and sore. Sacred the hell out of me I thought my placenta was torn ! I guess i just pulled a bit of me muscles. Too weak..... baby has been very active whole evening and I'm better after lying down 🤪 not again though will be more careful.....

35+5

umabb · 15/05/2020 23:13

Scared*.. sorry I can't type !

UKtoSK · 15/05/2020 23:29

I’ve been having regular scans (as that’s just how it’s done in korea) and at 22, 27, 30 and 32 weeks baby was head down and suddenly yesterday at the 34 week scan she’s suddenly head up. I knew she had flipped, and I even think I know when. But honestly I’m gutted. I’ll try to help her flip back down but if she doesn’t then it means a c-section which I really wanted to avoid. I was just so looking forward to birth and had all these dreams about the perfect natural birth. And I know things often don’t go to plan in birth and could always have ended up with induction or caesarean anyway, but I still feel like I’ve somehow let myself down. And my husband. He won’t be allowed in theatre and I’m so scared of doing it alone and so sad for him if he doesn’t get that experience of seeing her born.
I am happy that she’s still healthy and growing and that’s all that matters, that she gets here safely, but I’m still upset about it at the same time, you know?
I know many people here are having to have or choosing to have caesareans and I’m not saying that they’re bad or wrong. Just not what I wanted. I’d feel differently if my husband was just allowed in with me.
Sorry for the negative post. Lack of sleep is really getting to me.

Missgemini · 16/05/2020 00:23

@peetieswie I've not had a scan since 20 weeks either. Just been going on what midwives have been saying. I hope they're not wrong!

@umabb that sounds scary. But like you said, most likely pulled a muscle. I do absolutely no heavy lifting these days. Just direct husband to move things from A to B haha

@UKtoSk that's really annoying! I wonder what really determines which way they end up. My obgyn friend says there is no need to worry until 36 weeks. They could even flip the day before. I can't remember if this baby is your first, but she also says it's very unlikely for a FTM to have a baby that's not head down due to the lack of space.
Fingers crossed for you! x

Kez437 · 16/05/2020 01:48

@peetieswie I also haven't had one since 20 weeks. In NI we only get 12 weeks and 20 unless they have concerns. Agree though it is tough going by midwife guesses, I have never seen or been measured by the same midwife twice and at my last appointment baby had come off the centile but still had growth so they didn't refer me for a scan. I'm back this Thursday and am keeping everything crossed growth has picked up. It's so strange because everyone else on here seems to know baby's weight or length and head circumference, all I know is that by baby isn't following any centile If growth still seems off at my next appointment I'm pushing for a scan, feel like I've no clue what's going on with baby.

@BirdGarden welcome! I'm 37 weeks as of today and due 6th June, is your date the same? @newbyxx and I have the same due date. Also congrats to all 3 of us on also having made it to the 37 mark, officially full term Smile I wonder who will have theirs closest on time? I've a feeling I'm going to go over, baby is too comfortable Hmm

Zoey92 · 16/05/2020 05:03

I've literally not slept a single wink yet 😐
One of them nights where little miss is quite active plus my overactive mind.
