I’ve only had 12 week and 20 weeks scan too. I might be in the minority but it doesn’t bother me, I’m glad to not have to make the long journey to the hospital more and sort childcare for dd!

@Kez437 how do you know what percentile your bump measurements are following? My MW just writes the measurement on a table in my notes and just says I’m measuring fine. I was 34cm at my last appointment (when I was 33+4).

Busylizzie85 · 16/05/2020 07:21

I chose to pay for gender scan and a 4D scan privately otherwise I would have just had the normal 12/20 week scans!
I got a bit addicted to seeing her on the screen 🥰

BirdGarden · 16/05/2020 08:05

@umabb everything will be loosening up by now ready for birth, don't feel bad about a shopping bag Smile I'm still lifting weights (though my recovery time is awful!) but if I go to pick up my daughter, who weighs much less, at the wrong angle; or even a box of cereal, everything can go and I'll be in tears!

@peetieswie I was surprised to have another scan at 36+3, but my bump growth had fallen down so far it was miles off even hitting the lowest line. Did crap myself waiting for the hour (they wanted to do it there and then). I wasn't appropriately dressed at all and had to show the sonographer my knickers Blush

@UKtoSK I'm sorry to hear that and that it's been playing on your mind too. Have you looked at the spinning babies website? It's about what you can do to get baby in the best position for birth. Not sure what the rules are in SK but here they look at baby's position at 36 weeks I think to determine whether they're likely breech, so perhaps there's still time for baby to flip back?

@Kez437 yep that's me too, we're full term this morning, congratulations! Did you know our due date is literally the anniversary of D Day?! I like to joke about it, I'm a bit geeky. My daughter's birthday is June as well so this is my second shot at a D Day baby, or perhaps both sharing a birthday, who knows. I have everyone flapping round me saying "it's your second now it'll come sooner" which is a sure fire way to make a baby late. I've been reading into lots of stats (told you I'm a geek Grin) and apparently that's not really true. My last day working is 5 June so I'm pretty confident this baby is staying put.

Came up with names last night, makes things feel slightly more real Shock

AndddddHerewegoagain · 16/05/2020 08:50

@UKtoSK my first turned at 32 weeks after being head down for weeks! And turned back about 35 weeks. I know you're further along but she had room to turn one way im sure she has room to make it back-
Also my sister was breach until 38 weeks! The night before my mums c section was due she was sat in the bath and watched my sister turn round! Gave birth the next day!! Smile as others have said theres a spinning babies website that might help xx

Hi ladies I've been very quiet but been reading a little- just a note re hospital food well drink I plan to fill a bottle with cordial and water and freeze it completely then grab it out the Freezer when we go as it's going to be boiling in hospital I know it will thaw but it will take a few hours and thought that would be nice

umabb · 16/05/2020 09:15

@UKtoSK mine has been head down since weeks ago but back to back. I've been hoping he'd turn to face my back soon but I guess he could do anything he likes until the last minute. Hopefully she will do a big manoeuvre again soon xx is your mum still going to visit ? xx

@BirdGarden ohhh weightlifting at 37wks tough lady! I used to do a bit of lifting in the gym (light weights I guess) but that was more than a whole 9 months ago hehe! Muscles all gone weakened at this point I guess.

35+6

Gigitree · 16/05/2020 09:20

@mrssunshinexxx that’s a fantastic idea! I’ve been loving Icey cold drinks and ice lollies at the moment, so having a nice cold drink would be so much nicer than suffering with the warm hospital stuff! Thanks for sharing 😊

mrssunshinexxx · 16/05/2020 09:38

@Gigitree xx

NakeliP · 16/05/2020 10:15

@UKtoSK mine is still breech (35+3) and I know it could turn at any moment but I think it's bum is well wedged down into my pelvis. Got an appointment at 36 weeks to talk through options with midwife. I've been doing some of the exercises on spinning babies website like the forward leaning inversion, but not very regularly (starting to get a bit difficult now!). I've heard being on all fours helps, and sticking bum up in the air! Not sure what the protocol is in SK, but here they'll scan and offer an external cephalic version (ECV) after the 36 week midwife appointment where they try to turn the baby. If that fails it's planned caesarean at 39 weeks. ECV has about a 50% success rate but depends if you're a first time mum (a bit less likely) and lots of other factors.

For you, if it's flipped this late it sounds like it has a lot of room still to flip back. Mine has been transverse and then breech the whole way through, so I'm think it's rather too comfy / stuck to flip! We just have to go with the flow really whatever happens we'll have a lovely little one at the end 😉

NakeliP · 16/05/2020 10:18

And just to say I had my appendix removed in an SK hospital when I lived there about 10 or 11 years ago. The care was second to none. They got me up and moving straight away and recovery was good, so I'd like to assume if you did need an op they'd be brilliant and really look after you Smile

BabyBird20 · 16/05/2020 11:23

@mrssunshinexxx that's a great idea! I have also recently invested in a large chilly's bottle which keeps drinks cold or hot for hours! Might take that filled with iced water before I go in. 😍

MissisBee · 16/05/2020 11:41

Still time for the babies to turn. In the past 2 weeks, mine has been breech, head down, transverse and head down again. I do hope she picks one position soon and sticks to it! My friend's second baby turned from breech at 37 weeks and she went on to have a very straightforward delivery.

UKtoSK · 16/05/2020 14:44

Thank you to everyone for all the supportive comments. It has really made me feel a lot better. So grateful for this group! xx

@BirdGarden yeah I’ve been on spinning babies and been doing the forward inversion off the sofa and cat/cow poses etc. Going to try the hot/cold thing soon too I think. And yeah the doctor said if she hasn’t gone back head down by next appointment at 36 weeks then we’ll have to discuss c-section.

@AndddddHerewegoagain it’s really reassuring to hear of other people whose babies flipped out of breech later on, thank you for sharing those stories.

@umabb I hope baby gets into a good position for you! No unfortunately with the coronavirus situation in Spain she’s not able to come to Korea until who knows when. At the very least we are hoping to visit her next summer. Obviously hoping we can see each other before then.

@NakeliP sorry that you’re also dealing with a stubborn breech baby. I hope your baby surprises you and flips head down soon! I definitely feel better about it today. I just want her to get here safely however that may be. That’s cool you also lived in Korea before. Were you teaching?

@MissisBee your baby sounds like quite the acrobat! Thank you for the reassuring words x

NakeliP · 16/05/2020 15:45

@UKtoSK I taught English at a primary school in Busan for 2 years from 2008 to 2010. I really miss Korean food! I'd like to go back for a visit and see how much has changed, and take my husband (and child I suppose!). Whereabouts are you based?

Zoey92 · 16/05/2020 16:55

Been out this afternoon & bought everything for hospital bag, I've been abit to laid back with it 😂 I've been reading all your snack comments which really helped too ☺ so all packed, I'll probably unpack and re pack god knows how many times.
35weeks tomorrow 😬

How is everyone feeling?
I cant believe we're all here now 💜

APD1981 · 16/05/2020 18:58

My midwife gave me a colostrum harvesting kit the other day as she happened to have one with her. I read a guide on how to do it before and so just had a go... and I got some out! I am 37 weeks tomorrow but don't really want to start doing it properly until 38 weeks but I just wanted to have a go and see if I could get some. So pleased I can. I'm hoping I won't actually need the syringes but can't see any harm in doing it just in case. Plus I'm secretly hoping it brings on labour so I don't have to go too much over!

Missgemini · 16/05/2020 19:05

@Zoey92 This is the exciting last few weeks of it all! I'm just counting down the days!
I've officially started nesting too. I dont know where the energy has come from, but I have basically been rearranging and redecorating my flat with my husband! Our relatives won't recognise the place when they eventually come to visit. Ha!

37+4

Missgemini · 16/05/2020 19:08

@APD1981 Wait, is harvesting colostrum common practice? My midwives have never mentioned this. And I haven't noticed any colostrum yet.

APD1981 · 16/05/2020 19:12

I mentioned it to my midwife, not the other way round and she happened to have a kit with her. I don't know how common it is but I decided to do it because, in the current Covid circumstances, thought that it would be a good idea to make sure the baby can definitely get some colostrum regardless of whether it can't latch/something happens to me in labour etc. Both my midwife and my health visitor neighbour (also the lead breastfeeding consultant for my trust) thought it was a good idea. Doesn't do any harm so thought would try. I haven't had any sort of leaking or anything yet so I was skeptical it'd work for me but I did just manage to get a bit quite easily, to my surprise.

LillianFullStop · 16/05/2020 19:21

@APD1981 I mentioned it to my midwife at my 36 appointment too and she gave me a kit with syringes. She told me to wait until 38 weeks in case it kicks off labour! I have my ELCS at 39 weeks so I don't really want to kick it off too early!

I haven't noticed any leaking but the last couple of days I've noticed some stickiness but certainly not leaking.

I've got everything for my bag I just want to rearrange everything to see if I can keep things to just a carry-on and a backpack.

APD1981 · 16/05/2020 19:35

@lillianfullstop yeah my MW said 37 weeks but I think that's too early for me so I'm going to wait until I'm 38 weeks next weekend. I was just eager to see it I could do it!

LillianFullStop · 16/05/2020 20:11

@APD1981 it's good to know you can get some out right? It could only get easier at 38 weeks!

AndddddHerewegoagain · 16/05/2020 20:16

I started harvesting colostrum at 37 weeks and am still very much pregnant. 40 weeks next Wednesday.... if that helps anyones worries. Been drinking raspberry leaf tea today. Its done nothing. Not even a twinge

OP posts:
Magpie21 · 16/05/2020 21:10

@Zoey92 I'm also 35 weeks tomorrow! Well done on getting your bag finished, I'm waiting on a Superdrug's order to come through and then I should be 90% there. How have you been feeling? Any Braxton Hicks yet? Nothing for me yet!

Belly is getting a bit itchy today so I'm going to start putting bio oil on in the morning and not just in the evening. Hopefully that will do the trick.

UKtoSK · 16/05/2020 23:09

@NakeliP I’m in Daejeon, been out here since 2012. I love Korean food but didn’t for the first few months of pregnancy lol.
