@APD1981 yes this weather change is a bit of a relief isn’t it?
Sounds like a good plan! Your body is clearly ramping up to something so hopefully it will
Start again today. Just make sure to rest too because I’ve heard second time mums say they wished they had rested more in early labour rather than exhausting themselves trying to get it going.

APD1981 · 03/06/2020 06:29

@gigitree Yes I will. It's chucking it down with rain here at the moment so being active will involve more pottering round today I think. I've been up since 4.30 so I'll definitely be napping later! And I'm so glad it's getting cooler for a while, not least to stop me worrying so much about bedroom temperatures and also because I have so many nice babygros that I would love to be able to use rather than baby just being in a vest!! Haha.

How are you feeling now after your appt?x

APD1981 · 03/06/2020 06:30

@umabb hope you've managed some sleep last night. Thinking about you this morning. Hope all goes ok x

RPPs · 03/06/2020 06:34

Morning Ladies
I hope you are all well. I've missed the last few weeks but I'm delighted to see the arrival of Babies already. Congrats to all the new Mammies.
I'm in tomorrow for a planned section. Bambino is still breech transverse. So looking forward to meeting Our Bambino. Struggling a little the last few days.
Just wanted to wish you all safe deliveries and would love unto keep this thread going so we can share experiences going forward as I'm feeling quite intimidated by the prospect of our new role.
Speak soon x

Gigitree · 03/06/2020 06:39

@APD1981 lots of pottering will probably be the best thing! I have been awake since about 5am so I will be enjoying an afternoon nap today too 😂
Yeah exactly let’s hope it stays cooler for a few weeks so we can get settled at home with our babies before we need to worry about soaring temperatures!

I’m feeling a lot better about things today. I’m just going to put the consultants negative comments out of my mind and speak to my midwife about it at my 38 week appointment next week.
I get that they need to be proactive to stop anything bad from happening, but people give birth to big babies all the time without knowing before hand (because they either didn’t have growth scans or the scans were wrong) xxx

Gigitree · 03/06/2020 06:42

@RPPs oh how exciting that your little one will be here so soon! Hope it goes well for you♥️ Make sure to come back here and let us know how it goes!

APD1981 · 03/06/2020 06:47

@RRPs ahhh baby time for you! Hope all goes well, please let us know!x

@gigitree that's a really positive way to think about it- well done on being so rational when so heavily pregnant!! I am one of those people who, on paper, hasn't needed any extra scans etc. My bump growth (for what it's worth) has been bang on target (my cm have always matched my number of weeks) but I am tall so potentially have a longer torso which could be hiding a bigger baby. I have absolutely no idea whatsoever what my baby's predicted size is and I won't lie and tell you that doesn't worry me. My sister measure 4 weeks + with her first towards the end and had to have growth scans etc. He was born 8lb13. Her second, she measured bang on her curve all the way through. No extra scans needed etc. Thay baby was 9lb3! So just goes to show! Xx

Gigitree · 03/06/2020 07:02

Thanks @APD1981 I’ll admit I wasn’t feeling very rational the last couple of days, but I think I’ve got it out of my system now and I know feeling positive is more likely to help little one come early/on time so stressing isn’t going to help me at all (however there’s every chance I will spiral again at some point 😂)
Exactly! Thank you for sharing that. My sister was the same but the opposite way round. Her first born was 9lbs 7oz and she had no scans or anything, there was nothing to indicate he would be a big baby. Although her delivery was less than ideal, it wasn’t as bad as they would have lead her to believe had they have known what his weight would be! Then her second was 8lbs 5oz and she (for other reasons) had to have growth scans with him the whole way along!

umabb · 03/06/2020 07:24

Hey just checking in. I didnt think the balloon did its job as wasn't too painful overnight but apparently it did - I'm 2cm dilated so they just broke my waters. Now waiting for regular contractions to start. The husband can come in now as well which is great. Xx

Gigitree · 03/06/2020 08:18

Eeek how exciting @umabb Sounds like everything has gone really well so far.
I hope everything goes smoothly for you, that’s fab that your husband can join you so soon! ♥️

SearchingTheSkies · 03/06/2020 08:44

@umabb so exciting!! Hope all goes well. You'll have your little one with you so soon!! Xx

@APD1981 It definitely sounds like you're gearing up for labour, but it might just take a bit of time. Pottering sounds like a good plan.

@RPPs So excited for you!! Not long now!

@HaichMal I'm not sure I've had exactly that pain, but I get a sort of sunburn pain towards top of bump. It's so tender and sore, but mw said totally normal. It's where baby sticks bum out apparently!

Can't believe so many of you are so close now! I'm 36+5 so nothing happening yet. I'm living vicariously through you all.

MissisBee · 03/06/2020 09:27

Great to have an update from you @umabb hope everything goes well today.
@APD1981 hope things get going for you today.

38 weeks today and STILL puking. Not very frequently, and mainly because I'm rationing my antisickness tablets as I don't have quite enough to do until my section next week.
Had some tightenings every 10 minutes for an hour last night, but it all petered out

Pegase · 03/06/2020 09:42

Good luck @umabb hope it goes well!

I am getting that sunburn feeling on my skin too- so sore!

Gigitree · 03/06/2020 10:05

Oh guys btw I don’t know if anyone else here has fibroids but my midwife said not to have raspberry leaf tea or use clary sage if you have fibroids. I believe because they’re both supposed to stimulate the uterus etc they can cause haemorrhaging if you have fibroids.

She said sex, orgasms, nipple stimulation, walks and bouncing on a birth/yoga ball are the best/safest ways.

UKtoSK · 03/06/2020 11:18

@umabb so exciting! Good luck today!

@SearchingTheSkies I’m 36+4 today and also living vicariously through everyone here! I knew it would all kick off in June but still feels crazy seeing so many people getting ready for their babies and yet my due date still feels so far away! Starting to get uncomfortable and fed up already, I was hoping that wouldn’t happen until at least 39 weeks...

Anyone know how to start a new thread?

BirdGarden · 03/06/2020 11:20

Thanks @Gigitree, I don't but my relative does so will make sure she knows that. She was told it might make baby come early, so has everyone clucking around her ready for a premature birth. I said if there's one way to make baby late it's to think they're coming early!

@MissisBee you have huge sympathies. Ive had on and off sickness throughout but not taken anything as I was breastfeeding until 5 months (then DD self-weaned, typical). I do take omeprazole though as I couldn't manage sickness AND heartburn which also made me sick. I'd be an underweight jibbering wreck by now without it!

APD1981 · 03/06/2020 12:11

Painful, sporadic tightenings have started again. They last way longer than a contraction is supposed to so I think it's still just the start of something but it's definitely there and I'm definitely in pain!

AmyMaria2 · 03/06/2020 12:16

@APD1981 hope things kick off again soon for real!!
Thinking of you @umabb xxx

AmyMaria2 · 03/06/2020 12:17

@APD1981 ooh exciting!! Definitely sounds like the start of something!! Xxx

Gigitree · 03/06/2020 12:36

Oh really @BirdGarden I hadn’t heard that it might make baby arrive early! But you’re right about people jinxing it. Poor lady in my NCT class has been told for the past 10 weeks baby would come early, but she’s just days away from her due date and no sign of baby!

Ooo @APD1981 sorry you’re in pain, but it’s pain with a purpose and hopefully means little one is on their way!!

Busylizzie85 · 03/06/2020 12:40

New thread I hope I have done it correctly!!

Due June 2020 thread 8: The one where all the babies appear! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/birth_clubs/3927832-due-june-2020-thread-8-the-one-where-all-the-babies-appear

HaichMal · 03/06/2020 13:23

@APD1981 I hope you're doing OK. I'm afraid I had lots of the similar with my 2nd and still went to 42 weeks, and I also had similar last week but no baby yet. Really hoping I'm a bit quicker this time, and definitely hoping the same for you, especially if they're painful. Definitely a sign of things getting ready though so fingers crossed!

@umabb good luck!

SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 03/06/2020 14:40

My MW's advice was that if any of the old wives tales worked they'd be prescribing them on the NHS! There's no good evidence anything other than medical induction works to trigger labour so unfortunately we just need to be patient (so hard, I know!) @Gigitree I hadn't heard about the potential negative effects of the tea and sage, that's scary!

@MissisBee me too. Every meal is a gamble! I stopped the ondansetron a few weeks ago as the constant nausea had subsided but am still puking most days, some more than once. Had to pull over into a bus stop on way home from hospital last week after puking in a bush in the car park!

Gigitree · 03/06/2020 16:48

@SerBrienneOfHouseTarth yeah I know I’m glad I asked my midwife first. It’s only if you have fibroids though, otherwise you’re fine to use them.
I know most of these things don’t work but I’m not a very patient person haha so I like to feel like I’m doing something even if it doesn’t work!
