Congrats @LillianFullStop ! Hope recovery goes well 💛

Had a cool shower and a ice lolly once home was bliss 😌Well my appointment didn’t go to plan either , baby has dropped below 95th so I got all excited for the thought of my natural water birth , however baby has dropped that much as they seemed to have put less than 1/2 lb on in over 2 weeks . So they are now worried about placenta function . So she gave me a sweep ! 1cm &baby’s head is still high but she could touch it ! I turned down my last offer of a section& Induction is booked for Sunday . 😬

Mj2196 · 01/06/2020 17:58

@Gigitree how rude ! I’m glad you feel better after a chat with your DH. Mine would of been on the phone also 😂. That’s the same as mine was 7lb 7 at 36+1& think they say babe should put on 1/2 per week towards the end . So it could be another 5weeks if you go to 42 weeks , so another 2.5lb if I’m right ? .
Hope you have better luck with your midwife & get some answers ! X

SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 01/06/2020 18:13

Congratulations @LillianFullStop Enjoy those baby snuggles x

I have my next growth scan tomorrow and regardless of what happens I'm going to ask for induction before or at 40 weeks as I don't want to risk going overdue.

Sorry to hear about the crap appointments. I've had the opposite in that the MW has been quite vague and waffly but I have had detailed answers from the consultant after I emailed her my questions. I would deffo recommend an email asking to clarify the specifics if you haven't had proper answers. I've written notes in my phone for tomorrow too. I find that even though I'm a confident and educated woman, there's something about being in a Drs room that turns me into an agreeable twat. I find it quite hard to ask for clarification but I have been getting better recently! Hope the next ones go better xx

umabb · 01/06/2020 18:14

@LillianFullStop biiig congratulations !!! So glad you both are fine xx

Today I guess isn't a good day for appointments. I had the worst experience since I got pregnant I guess. I was supposed to have a growth scan then would see the midwife but somehow I wasn't on any sonographers list even though I had checked in as usual. I had to wait extra long time and finally when I was called in, I was told that I couldn't get the growth checked today because my previous scan was done less than two weeks ago. Fair enough I thought at least I could see whether the amniotic fluid was still low. however the sonographer wouldn't explain a thing during the scan, said the printed report would show and its down to the midwife's judgments see if everything was normal (???) she wasn't interested in talking or anything at all - just so arrogant! After that 5mins scan I went to see the MW who then saw the report and told me my waters are just below the lowest percentile and I'll need to discuss with my consultant tomorrow on the phone to have a plan. I was hoping to discuss birth plan today but now if I will have an induction, everything I thought I'd want will have to change.
Feeling completely unsettled and angry after the visit ☹️

SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 01/06/2020 18:16

Oh God, just read that back and want to clarify I am not suggesting any of you that have had shit appts are as wimpy as me or haven't been standing up to the Docs. Just sharing what I do that helps as I am a bit like that. Sorry x

Gigitree · 01/06/2020 18:33

@Mj2196 exactly so if she put on an extra 2.5lbs by 42 weeks then yes I guess she would be 10lbs+ but he made it sound like she would be 10lbs by 39 weeks which is just ridiculous.
Sorry to hear you had a worrying appointment today! But exciting though that baby will be on their way by Sunday! Eeek!

@SerBrienneOfHouseTarth yeah emailing is not a bad idea, but I don’t seem to have that option, I don’t have the consultants email address, so I’d have to write a letter most likely. Tbh I think once baby is here I’m going to write a letter of complaint regardless at that is now two consultants in a row who just didn’t spend any time trying to explain anything properly.
My main issue is I do speak up and ask questions, but I never seem to get a straight answer. I asked him three times in a row, is 7lbs 8oz a good weight for my gestation and I basically got 3 separate answers. I’m extremely grateful that people from all over the world come and work for our NHS as we would be so screwed without them, but it doesn’t make it any easier when we’re both wearing face masks and his first language is not English and he had a really thick accent and talked at lightening Speed.

@umabb oh gosh I really feel for you that sounds like such a stressful situation, It’s horrible when the sonographer just refuses to explain anything properly. Have you spoken with this consultant before? Do you think they’ll give you better information tomorrow?

Missgemini · 01/06/2020 18:50

@LillianFullStop Congrats! So happy to hear that things went well and mummy and baby are doing well! I'm so jealous! It's quite funny that your waters went this morning as well. It was really meant to be!

Sorry to hear about the bad appts recently ladies. We really don't need the stress at this stage of the pregnancy. I hope things do go well for us all in the end.

39+6 (where is my babyyyy?!!!haha)

Kez437 · 01/06/2020 19:11

Hi all I also had appointment today with consultant at 39+2. He was asking as soon as I went in if I had any signs of labour and I have literally had none and I'm hot and fed up that I took the plunge and asked for a sweep (expecting him to say no) but he said yes. Don't know about you @Mj2196 but mine frigging hurt, a lot! Consultant and midwife were so positive though and told me I had a really high pain threshold which made me feel better about labour although no doubt they say that to everyone. Had really bad cramps when I got home for about 2 hours but they've worn off and I'm now eating a whole pineapple, having curry for dinner, going for a walk and have announced to hubby that we are having sex later whether he likes it or not, my exact phrase was 'you put this baby in here so you have to help get it out 😂' The sweep got me to 3cm and I am just determined to make the most of it considering how painful it was.
We are nearly all there ladies, sounds like we have all had our fair share of shitty appointments along the way but hopefully babies will appear healthy and soon!

umabb · 01/06/2020 19:35

@Gigitree thanks lovely xx yes I've been seeing this consultant both via nhs and privately. He's good so I'm hoping to I have a proper conversation and hopefully a date if to be induced. My fluid had been low and then "normal" then low again which is frustrating. Glad we are reaching the end of this journey soon 🤪

Mj2196 · 01/06/2020 19:43

Definitely Sounds like a few of us are Glad we’re near the end ladies!
@Kez437 I’m only 38+1 so wasn’t expecting one 😶 . Yes I was certainly taking some deep breaths ..also had some pineapple now bouncing away on my ball lol Jealous of your 3cm hope things happen soon for you

UKtoSK · 01/06/2020 20:16

Sorry to hear about all the bad appointments today! That’s the last thing you want at any point in life but especially in the final weeks of pregnancy. Exciting that so many of you will have your babies in the next week or two for sure though!

@LillianFullStop congratulations! Glad things went well, hope you have a smooth recovery.

Currently trying to figure if baby’s just having a 4am dance party or in distress. Really looking forward to all the new things I’ll have to worry about once she’s on the outside 😫

MissisBee · 01/06/2020 20:28

Congratulations @LillianFullStop
Glad everything went well and hope you're home soon

SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 01/06/2020 20:41

Is anyone else fed up of the 'have you had a baby yet' texts? I've taken to responding 'aye, but we're keeping it a secret, don't tell anybody' Grin

@Gigitree a Dr friend told me to ring the hospital and ask to speak to Dr X's secretary. I then asked the secretary for an email address that I could get in touch with the Dr. She gave me hers and she then forwarded the email on. I totally get your frustration. I'm seeing a different Dr tomorrow than my usual one so am nervous I'll have the same problem. Definitely a good idea to complain anyway. I hope all goes smoothly for you from here on in x

@umabb I've had the same with sonographers leaving it up to Dr or MW to interpret which would be fine if the MW actually gave a decent answer! Mine spoke to Doc and all the info I got was 'come back in 2 weeks'. Very helpful... not! This was one of the issues I ended up emailing Doc about! x

Pegase · 01/06/2020 21:30

Congratulations @LillianFullStop and how funny that your waters broke first!

I have my consultant appt tomorrow to agree C section. Am actually bricking it - don't know what I will do if she says no.

BabyBird20 · 01/06/2020 21:57

@Gigitree I'm supposed to be having another growth scan and consultant to make a plan this week with the potential of induction next week but have heard nothing so not sure if it's even happening!!

@Kez437 I didn't realise you could request them before 40 weeks! I might ask for one if/when I see the consultant again!!

umabb · 01/06/2020 22:43

@SerBrienneOfHouseTarth yeah I hoped the MW could explain better but all she said was - speak to the consultant. Luckily I've got an appointment in the diary with the consultant tomorrow. At this stage I do feel I don't deal with stress very well. Needed a glass of wine!

BirdGarden · 01/06/2020 23:29

Congratulations @LillianFullStop Flowers hope you make a swift recovery too!

@Kez437 I had a sweep with DD and I was only just able to let her do it as I found it painful, was also dilated though so I wonder if it's already all a bit irritated from having done some of the work?! Hope it helps you along though 😊

Anyone else having any last minute wobbles or is it just me?? My one year old is giving me hell, I can't finish work til Friday, my phone contract is switching to a new provider and new phone at midnight on Friday, I keep using all the "easy cook" dinner options up because I'm fed up by the end of the day and my due date is Saturday. I could do with losing one of these elements of life to make space for baby! And once again the increasing heat is ruining my plans to put baby in a sling to leave my hands free occasionally, and my love of hot baths too!

SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 01/06/2020 23:53

I hear ye @umabb! My colleagues got me a bottle of gin as a send off pressie and I'm so tempted to pour myself a large one!

@BirdGarden I'm definitely feeling the wobbles. I just want baby to be here and for us both to be happy and healthy. I have a good few jobs to do this week too but have zero desire!

BabyBird20 · 02/06/2020 03:21

Omg I got a bit complacent yesterday and forgot to take my omeprazole tablet. Felt ok before bed so didn't go back downstairs for it and just woken up feeling awful with acid reflux!! Definitely worth staying on the tablets then!! Now sat up in bed feeling sick and cursing myself waiting for the tablet to kick in. Sleep is rare enough as it is these days! 😬😬

newbyxx · 02/06/2020 06:23

Congratulations @LillianFullStop 🥰

Sorry to you ladies that have had bad experiences at appointments lately, keep strong you are all nearly there. The end result is worth it all 💙

Pegase · 02/06/2020 06:44

Ooh one thing we have done to prepare for those of us waiting is ordered some frozen meals from Cook. Am doing a bit of batch cooking too but the Cook meals are good quality and they do a new parent discount.

I would also buying all the (healthy?!) snacks if you are planning to breastfeed- it makes you absolutely ravenous particularly in the middle of the night.

HaichMal · 02/06/2020 07:07

@LillianFullStop congratulations on the safe arrival of your baby boy and I hope you're getting to enjoy lots of newborn baby cuddles

So sorry to hear of these stressful appointments. The last thing any of us need right now! I hope you all get answers soon.

I potentially have a sweep booked for 39+4, which is my 40 week midwife appointment, because I brought up whether I could have an earlier induction due to my worries about my mental health if I go over (I gave birth to my MMC last June on the 19th, which is when I turn 41 weeks) and got an unequivocal 'no'. I think I get a 40+4 (41 weeks) appointment as well so fingers crossed something happens.

I had an awful night. I could not get comfortable at all and was nearly in tears at 3am because everything south of my bump hurt no matter what position I tried and every time the pain woke me, I had to go to the toilet, which meant painful hobbling. To add insult to injury my toddler decided 5am was the perfect time to come into our room and watch things on my phone. I've been up an hour and showered and my back and hips are still so sore and stiff. Today is going to be interesting I think.

sarahlounich · 02/06/2020 08:22

So exciting to read of some little arrivals!

Today is my due date...happy due date bump buddy @Missgemini!! Absolutely no sign that this little one wants to make an imminent appearance.

Sorry to read some of you have had bad experiences with consultants/midwives recently, not what anyone needs...especially someone heavily pregnant.

Glad to see the sun is shining again, think it's the last day for a week or so which will hopefully bring some relief to anyone struggling in the heat.

40+0 😬

BirdGarden · 02/06/2020 09:09

Happy due date @sarahlounich and @Missgemini!

@HaichMal might they do your sweep early based on your appointment dates? I have mine at 40+4 and 41+4; so midwife said I could have a sweep at 40+4 because the 41+4 one wouldn't necessarily give it time to work before my deadline for a MLU birth. Don't know if I'm going to accept it yet or not but that's another story, but might be an angle for you to work with?

Two hours sleep last night, feel dreadful, I have to login to work but can't even get out of bed. Work phone ringing already, need shower. Bleeeuurrgghhh... thank god husband has the toddler banshee!

39+3

Missgemini · 02/06/2020 09:09

@sarahlounich Happy due date! I've had so many messages to that effect! Haha
But where is the babyyyyyyy????
I just feel like there is no sign of this baby coming any time soon! Now, I'm so scared of having a sweep on Friday!

@HaichMal That sounds like a rough night! I also keep waking a zillion times a night to pee. But I have no toddlers demanding my time at 5am thankfully. I hope you get some rest today.

40+0
