@APD1981 I have my curtains/ blinds closed in every room of the house that has them and this is the case all day so it keeps the rooms cool. I've also been struggling to get belle 23-24 degrees in bedroom I spoke to midwife as in what's best to do and she said that baby is best of sleeping in a vest (so no legs or arms) and use a Muslin as blanket if needed, seems to be working with my little man, I put a sleepsuit on yesterday but he become to hot quite quickly. Is a worry though to make sure they're are the correct temp! X

APD1981 · 01/06/2020 12:32

@newbyxx thanks, that's what I'm doing the the blinds and curtains too. I have ordered black out linings for my bedroom curtains (already have blinds and lined curtains in there) but they won't be here for a week or so. Our lounge is a bit cooler so if worse comes to worse and it's really hot I think I'll sleep on the couch and baby can stay downstairs with me. It's worrying me so much. Our house is a naturally warm house. Although I think temperatures are going to drop slightly over the next few days so I'm hoping they stay down for a bit until baby comes and I feel more confident with what to do! X

AndddddHerewegoagain · 01/06/2020 12:38

@APD1981 as above. Only ive used a cellular blanket instead of a muslin. It was the same in 2017 when my son was born. His room is boiling but he somehow still sleeps under a duvet each night despite being offered a blanket!

Dh has been sleeping in s different room as well so theres 1 less body in the bedroom but appreciate you may not want to do that

@andddddherewegoagain ah thank you. I think a vest and a muslin/cellular is the way forward. It's been on my mind a lot so thank you for advising x

AndddddHerewegoagain · 01/06/2020 12:56

I think we all just do our best in the circumstances its so tricky! My son liked the weight of 2 blankets on him when he was little which made it even trickier!

@Mj2196 same here. This waiting room is sweltering! Hope your scan goes well. I’m dreaming of a nice cold shower when I get home 😂

Blizy · 01/06/2020 13:21

I'm just home from the sweat box waiting room, had a lovely cool shower!
I'm having scans twice a week now, everything is still fine but dr is keeping a close eye on placenta blood flow and baby's growth. They are now swaying towards a section at 37 weeks, that would be next Wednesday. I'm holding out for 38 weeks though!

UKtoSK · 01/06/2020 14:10

When’s your due date @Blizy? I don’t see you on the google document. Good that everything is still fine and I hope it stays that way so that you can hold off til 38 weeks.

Smiffette · 01/06/2020 14:12

@newbyxx I was chatting to a Midwife about the same thing as we've got a Victorian house that just really holds the heat! Event with all the windows open all day, it still stays at about 24/25.

I've just picked up some blackout blinds from Dunelm to go in our room and the nursery, as neither have blackout curtains. I'm hoping if I keep these down all day it will help bring the temp down.

Like OP said, I thinks Towards the end of the week the weather cools down to below 20 for a week or so

BabyBird20 · 01/06/2020 14:14

Just had my 38 week midwife appointment and it felt so strange that she basically said I won't see her again til after baby is here now, specially if I agree to an induction next week!! Still can't decide what to do on that front, I just have a feeling if I go for induction I'll be the classic worst case scenario and take 3 days for it to work and end up with a c section anyway!! 😬😬 Not sure if it'll be better just to wait for him to make his entrance when he wants to!

Blizy · 01/06/2020 14:39

@UKtoSK I'm not due until 1st July.
Baby will come 37-38 weeks. Not sure I'm quite ready for this!

SearchingTheSkies · 01/06/2020 15:06

Hope today is going well for you @LillianFullStop Looking forward to hearing your news!

Smiffette · 01/06/2020 16:01

@BabyBird20 do you not have a 40 week appointment?

I have a 40, 41 and 42 if baby not here, but maybe that's because it's my first!?

My next one is booked in for the 9th when I'll be 40+1 and my midwife said she wouldn't do a sweep until I was a week over, unless I wanted her too. I'm happy to wait for it to hopefully happen naturally.

Gigitree · 01/06/2020 16:12

Well I just feel like total shit now after my growth scan and consultant appointment. As usual i didn’t see my actual consultant just some other person who rushed me in and out barking questions at me and not explaining anything properly.
I’m 36+5 and baby’s estimated weight is 7lbs 8oz which is 88th percentile. So according to the consultant I’m a ‘big girl so I will have a big baby’ and I have to have another growth scan at 39 weeks because if she’s 10lbs or more she’ll probably get stuck and I’ll have to have an instrumental delivery. Got back to my car and just burst into tears. They just keep you waiting all that time to be seen then they rush you in and out and don’t explain anything properly.

LillianFullStop · 01/06/2020 16:39

Hi all popping by with the news my baby boy is here! Waters went in the morning so although I had an ELCS booked I guess today was his day anyway! Was worried because he had meconium in the waters but he's absolutely perfect and healthy we just need to get his feeding sorted!

ELCS was very smooth but dreading the spinal wearing off!

Millettmum · 01/06/2020 16:45

Congratulations @LillianFullStop !

Gigitree · 01/06/2020 16:52

Fab news @LillianFullStop congratulations!! Glad it went well! It was obviously meant to
be that he would be here today
❤️

APD1981 · 01/06/2020 16:56

@lillianfullstop congratulations! So glad you have your little boy in your arms. Enjoy every minute xx

@gigitree that sounds just awful. Way to make a heavily pregnant woman feel good, eh?! Talk it through with your DH and get it out of your system. Maybe chat to your midwife if you can, too x

BabyBird20 · 01/06/2020 17:00

Oh @Gigitree I can fully sympathise, that's how awful I felt at my 36 week appt!! Had big baby concerns all the way through and all the other specialists I saw suggested I'd be c section but sadly my own consultant gets to make the decision and is adamant I won't have a planned c! Just feels horrible to not get the answers you want and need! I'm now trying very hard to get into a positive mindset about this birth and reading up about all the possible variables and instruments etc!! Am supposed to be having another scan this week to help make a decision about potential induction but not heard from the hospital yet which isn't helping my anxiety!!

@Smiffette I've booked one in for 40 weeks but I think she just assumes I'm going to accept the induction next week! I don't actually trust my consultants to even offer that now though, have lost a lot of faith in them sadly 😢

BabyBird20 · 01/06/2020 17:01

Huge congratulations @LillianFullStop Hope you have a swift and smooth recovery!! ❤️❤️

Blizy · 01/06/2020 17:08

Wow, congratulations @LillianFullStop!

Cornishbumpkin · 01/06/2020 17:14

Congratulations @LillianFullStop how funny that he knew today was the day Grin fingers crossed you get the feeding sorted and back home soon

Busylizzie85 · 01/06/2020 17:23

Congratulations @LillianFullStop first baby of June 👶🏼❤️

Smiffette · 01/06/2020 17:37

@LillianFullStop congratulations glad it all went well!
Enjoy your baby boy 💙

Gigitree · 01/06/2020 17:42

Thank you @APD1981 just ranted at my DH for a while so feel a bit better. He wanted to call up the hospital and have a go, but I don’t think it will change anything/do any good. I just can’t get my head around the assumption that she will be 10lbs+ at 40weeks, I’m almost 37 weeks so she’d have to be growing pretty rapidly to get to that weight surely?

Yeah my midwife is much better at talking these things through than any bloody consultant (surely their title should be dictator, don’t really feel like I’m ever consulted on anything) so will chat with her about it at my 38 week appointment.

Just hoping she comes safely before my 39 week scan so I can stick two fingers up at the consultant.

Thank you @BabyBird20 I’m sorry you’ve had a shit experience too, but it is nice to hear that I’m not alone in that regard! You’re right it’s so frustrating to not feel like you’re getting the answers you need. At the end he said ‘any questions’ and I was just thinking “yeah could you actually answer my questions I already asked properly” 🙄🙄
I’ve allowed myself this afternoon to sulk about it and then tomorrow I’m just going to focus on the positives and try not to let that dickhead get to me. When is your next scan?
