Well I have tried all the tricks to get this one out and nothing at all seems to be working, I am beginning to think she is set fast and does not want to come out!

39+4

BirdGarden · 02/06/2020 15:02

@rinoa definitely ask your midwife - I am in the same quandary as you about sweeps. The "deadline" for my local unit is 41+5 (I aimed to deliver in one before elsewhere, and didn't, but I think it was the same date). I had originally decided no sweeps on the basis I've also said no examinations; but... What if the sweep makes the difference between MLU or not? My "alternative" hospital that I'd have to go to once past 41+5 isn't exactly local (70 mile round trip, hour each way). In "theory" I shouldn't be given one until my 41 week appointment which I'll be 41+4 at, so I've got the option of one at 40+4. 6 days to make my mind up...! Confused

Gigitree · 02/06/2020 15:07

@Pegase yeah it’s a bit of a shame as it’s such a cute outfit, I’ll leave it in my bag anyway so we have options, but I might have to quickly purchase a back up one in a bigger size 😂😂😂

Blizy · 02/06/2020 15:09

@Pegase my section is booked in for 17th June too.

Rinoa · 02/06/2020 15:13

@BirdGarden funnily enough I just got a call from a mw to change appointment date due to it taking place at a children's centre and kids going back in. It's now been moved to the day I'll be 41 weeks. I asked if this will affect being able to birth in the MLU she said no and I can opt in or out for a sweep and completely up to me. Let's hope I go into labour before then!

@Busylizzie85 due date buddy! I've been trying to get baby engaged as last appointment it said he wasn't. Without trying though I was already eating curries and eating pineapple lol 😂 nothing happened yet I think. I walk aimlessly in the garden but it's so boring , wish I could actually go to a park to walk around. Hope your baby gives u time to finish up work at least !

Busylizzie85 · 02/06/2020 15:18

@Rinoa I'm glad I'm not the only one! I have eaten so much pineapple it's made my tongue sore and I have added chilli to everything I eat she's obviously immune!
Having a Thai curry tonight so maybe changing from Indian might help 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Pegase · 02/06/2020 15:18

Ooh that's cool @Blizy - how many weeks will you be then? I will be 39+ 4 so cutting it fine! DD was induced at 41+1

umabb · 02/06/2020 15:22

@Girlinajumpsuit why does sweep need to be done twice ? Sorry I have no idea ! I'm all open to sweep /any sort of induction now , my stress is through the roof !

Zoey92 · 02/06/2020 15:29

My midwife offered me a sweep when im at my 38wk app next Thursday. I'm nervous 😂

Girlinajumpsuit · 02/06/2020 15:36

@umabb the consultant recommended trying 2 sweeps within 48 hours to increase chances of it having effect. She said as FTM its not that likely that just one will work and this will increase the chances for me - I'm very keen to have a natural labour (although running out of time) and avoid an induction so willing to try!

HaichMal · 02/06/2020 16:01

Before I risk wasting the hospital's time, is anyone having pains in their bump? I've got a rock hard bump, and it has been all day. I've had some tightenings and BH, so I know it's not that. It's also not the baby pushing downwards creating pressure, as have/had that too, nor is the general feeling of it wanting to pop open, as also have/had that too. It's a sort of sharp stabbing/searing/pulling pain like things are being stretched and pulled from the inside and it's mostly across the top of my bump, from my ribs to my belly button. My chest is also feeling tight, like things are pressed there, but I'm not short of breath so guessing that's just baby. The pain doesn't move when or where she does and its also not constant or at the same intensity all the time.

I rang triage after experiencing it for a few hours, and they recommended heat and pain relief. I had paracetamol and applied a hot water bottle, which I also took when I had a lie down and napped with the toddler for a few hours. It's still there. I'm thinking about ringing back again as I don't think I've had this before, but thought I would check with you lovely ladies first.

Gigitree · 02/06/2020 16:43

Sorry @haichmal I haven’t experienced that so I can’t offer any words of wisdom. I would say though that they always say to not worry about ringing them if you have concerns, so perhaps just ring them anyway for peace of mind?

@Zoey92 sorry I can’t recall, are you a first time mum? This is my first baby and now they’re starting to worry me about baby being too big I’d quite like a sweep at 38 weeks, but I don’t know if they do this for FTM’s

BabyBird20 · 02/06/2020 16:48

@umabb snap! I haven't been offered a sweep at all yet and don't have a midwife booked til 41 weeks now 😢😢 Still not heard back from consultant either so looks like an induction on Monday is less likely now!!

AnonyHB · 02/06/2020 16:49

I get this off and on @HaichMal and have done for weeks. Sometimes hard for days on end and sharp pains that I recognise as ligament. Get checked out if you’re not sure though..

Section booked for 18th when I’ll be 39+5. Pre op appointment tomorrow!

BabyBird20 · 02/06/2020 16:55

This may be a tmi but the last two days I've found a couple of drops of fresh blood when I've wiped which I'm not sure if I should be worried about. It's literally a drop but I can't see or feel where it would have come from! It's definitely not a bloody show or anything, I'm wondering whether it could maybe be thrush? Don't know if I should call midwife or gp or just ignore as it's such a small amount? Any ideas ladies?

umabb · 02/06/2020 16:56

So consultant called and said no benefit of waiting - being induced today. Going in hospital now. Wish me luck ....

Busylizzie85 · 02/06/2020 16:59

Good luck @umabb 🤞🏼

Busylizzie85 · 02/06/2020 17:02

I would say any bleeding whether small or not it's worth a call just to be sure @BabyBird20 much better to be safe than sorry as it were x

Gigitree · 02/06/2020 17:04

Oh wow!! Good luck @umabb keep us updated when you can! ♥️♥️♥️

Oh How exciting @AnonyHB, how are you feeling?

The babies are all coming now! Eeek!

@BabyBird20 sorry hun I have no idea, I would ring your midwife just to check though.

Blizy · 02/06/2020 17:13

Wow @umabb hope you have a safe and speedy delivery!

@Pegase I'll be 38 weeks.

@BabyBird20 I'd give your midwife a phone, just to be on the safe side.

Zoey92 · 02/06/2020 17:14

@gigitree sorry yes im FTM, no issues in my pregnancy so far, measurements all where they should be & no concerns of little ones weight

Ive spoken to a few people & they seem to offer optional sweeps now at 38wks

BabyBird20 · 02/06/2020 17:18

@umabb wow that was sudden! Is that because he's measuring big? I hope it goes well for you, can't wait to hear of more baby arrivals!

Thanks ladies, will give the midwife line a call but never get through to anyone! Hope it's just a bit of thrush or something. There's always something to worry about!!

Gigitree · 02/06/2020 17:39

Oh that’s fab @Zoey92 I will see if my midwife will do one for me at my next appointment. Do you have to pre-arrange them or can they just do them of you ask during a routine check up?

SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 02/06/2020 17:50

@Girlinajumpsuit My friend had the daytime naps thing before all three of her babies came so maybe it is a sign!

@Gigitree I've just taken out a velour suit, the baby would cook! Replaced with a shorts suit! What was I thinking... I only have newborn or 0-3 too and my baby is around the same weight as yours, but I've been reliably informed that newborn fits up to 9lb. If not, he/she will just have to laze about in their knickers!

@HaichMal I would definitely ring again and @BabyBird20 I'd phone too xx

@umabb Good luck! xx

It's getting exciting now, there'll be babies popping out left right and centre soon!

umabb · 02/06/2020 17:53

Thanks ladies x

@BabyBird20 I’ve been on and off with this reduced fluid situation and yesterday they found it reduced again during the scan. The consultant I've been seeing thinks it's safe for baby to pop now anyway no benefit waiting. hopefully I’ll bring back a positive birth story to you 👍
