@AndddddHerewegoagain what healthy snacks pls ?

@Ginfilledcats I'm taking things like jelly babies and little flapjacks and lucozade sport (none fizzy one)

Flip flops .. hair bobbles.. mini nose speaker for my hypnobirthing music , flannel

Ginfilledcats · 17/04/2020 18:05

@AndddddHerewegoagain @mrssunshinexxx ooh perfect thank you. Had a lot of that on my list except flannel and will desperately find one now, can only imagine haha.

What healthy snacks would you suggest, I love fruit was was going to take tangerines and dried mango, then some sweets like jelly beans and I heard dark chocolate was good. Mints to keep my mouth fresh and yes to lucazade sport! Feel like I'll want carbs/savoury too so was thinking crisps as I'm not a nut fan. Not exactly healthy though!

Is anyone else taking fake candles and fairy lights? Or am I going to look mental?

AndddddHerewegoagain · 17/04/2020 18:09

Dried fruit, cereal bars, ricecakes, popcorn

Try and resist sweets, crisps etc they offer no nutrition and wont help you in the long run xx

mrssunshinexxx · 17/04/2020 18:16

@Ginfilledcats no you won't at all take them. Are you hypnobirthing?

@AndddddHerewegoagain thanks for the suggestions I desperately crave an m
And s sandwich for afterwards already so will try get my hands on one when the time comes 😂

Ginfilledcats · 17/04/2020 18:19

@mrssunshinexxx yes that's the plan. I'm quite an anxious person so hoping that hypnobirthing can help keep me as calm as possible. Under no illusions that hypnobirthing will make it pain free but I think it's the keeping calm stuff that I like about hypnobirthing I'm hoping to use. I panic easily!

Ooh popcorn is a better idea and rice cakes! Will definitely take them instead!

MissisBee · 17/04/2020 18:39

Ooh, must remember to get lucozade, I survived on that in my last labour (wasn't allowed to eat). I'm thinking flapjack bar type things will be handy

Magpiefeather · 17/04/2020 18:42

@Ginfilledcats random helpful thing I’m taking....
A dark coloured towel so I don’t ruin a white one!

Not planning on anything to wear during labour, I don’t think I’ll care by that point and prob just be nude

LillianFullStop · 17/04/2020 18:46

Added you @Firsttimerat25!

Yay for the good news @Blizy! Sorry you're feeling anxious - it's so hard isn't it? I'm trying to get my stress and anxiety under control. I hope my OB appointment goes well for me to request my ELCS - feel anxious being this far along and still not knowing if it's approved or not. Been hearing rumours they are only approving high risk ELCS but it could just be rumours @Mj2196 my first birth was awful too Confused

Happy 33w @Rinoa and Busylizzie85!

I'm loving these hospital bag tips thanks! I'm getting on that this weekend so good to have ideas Smile

Pegase · 17/04/2020 18:53

Fybogel sachets or lots of dried fruit or both

If you are having a C section something to tie to the bed to pull yourself up with

Olive oil to put on baby's bum prior to first poo

mrssunshinexxx · 17/04/2020 19:04

@Ginfilledcats I love it and hoping it will work I'm practicing so much due to lock down so that's one positive !

Take both (sweets will be welcome too I reckon ) Smile

Firsttimerat35 · 17/04/2020 20:24

@AndddddHerewegoagain I hope she holds on for another couple of weeks for you!! @Blizy glad you had good news at the scan. I dont understand how the tape measure can be accurate either. Especially when they tell you that it could differ by 3cm either way!! That's quite a big margin for error!!

Thank you for adding me to the spreadsheet too!!

UKtoSK · 17/04/2020 20:27

Those of you who have bought pjs or nighties for the hospital, are they maternity? Or just in a larger size? I’m trying to find something to buy to wear in the hospital but maternity options around me are limited and I’m assuming non-maternity won’t fit still in the first few days after birth.

Ginfilledcats · 17/04/2020 21:05

@mrssunshinexxx I've not really practised much apart from jus the breathing. Read the book but we downloaded the digital pack to start tomorrow together! Need to get practising!

@uktosk I've bought maternity nighty and pjs. Probably will never wear the nighty again as not a nighty person. Pjs as they are button up will do for breast feeding in the night but the shorts will never fit me I imagine!

Babymaher · 17/04/2020 21:20

Hey everyone so I had my 32 week midwife appointment and was advised that my 36 week scan might not go ahead now as it isn’t “essential” on top of that midwife said baby is transverse and my fundal height measured at 29cm. My big worry is that baby isn’t going to turn midwife didn’t say anything to me about my worries just that she would see me at 36 weeks. Currently using birthing ball to get baby to change positions. Does anyone else have a baby that is not head down ?

Gigitree · 17/04/2020 21:34

@babymaher my baby was head down at my last midwife appointment but she said it doesn’t really matter until 36 weeks as they can still turn this way and that so you don’t really need to worry until closer to due date.
I’ve heard a lot about something called ‘spinning babies’ i think it’s a Facebook group or website about getting babies into the right position.

I’m supposed to have a growth scan at 33 weeks and 37 weeks, I hope mine don’t get cancelled. I wouldn’t mind but my midwife hasn’t been measuring me on the basis that I’ll be having growth scans.

@uktosk I’m struggling to find the right sort of button front maternity maternity nightie in my size so think I might just end up getting something in a couple of sizes bigger - something that is a baggy style and perhaps has some stretch to it 😂

Babymaher · 17/04/2020 21:40

@gigitree thank you that’s good to hear it’s my first baby so I feel clueless. I will keep my fingers crossed that your scans go ahead they should as they are growth scans mine was just your normal 36 week scan just really hope that baby moves round as it’s been laying transverse for nearly a month it’s obviously very comfortable that way 🙈

Gigitree · 17/04/2020 21:46

Oh bless you! @babymaher I’m sure once he/she runs out of room they’ll soon switch round, I can’t imagine they’ll be able to lay transverse for much longer as they get bigger - fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻🤞🏻

AndddddHerewegoagain · 17/04/2020 22:27

@Babymaher im pretty sure my son turned at 32 weeks from head down to breach 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ but turned himself back a couple of days later. This one has been head down from the start!!

Braxton hicks have finally settled after 5 hours!!! Just as well as she has no bed yet with the broken snuzpod!

My midwife friend suggested I took paracetamol as they can knock Braxton hicks on the head. Obviously if you're in labour they won't stop it/ will only reduce the pain. Thought it was worth sharing incase anyone else gets a false labour!

NakeliP · 17/04/2020 22:42

@Babymaher mine was transverse at 28 weeks and now breach at 31, but midwife says it's very mobile so clearly doing flip flops! She said they wouldn't worry until 36 weeks and keep doing inversion exercises like they show you on the Spinning Babies website for transverse and breach babies. I have no idea what happens at the 36 week point. I assumed I'd be booked in for a scan but it's not even worth second guessing at the moment. Doing the inversions when I remember (not often) and trying not to worry about it right now.

AmyMaria2 · 17/04/2020 23:48

Had a growth and blood flow scan today as last week they said baby had fallen off the growth chart and almost stopped growing! Was told today they think that scan was inaccurate measurements as today he weighs 5lbs 4oz which is above average and estimated to be 8.5-9lbs at birth😳 so happy he hasn’t stopped growing and everything is okay (even if he is gonna be a big boy🙈)
They also let me take a photo of his foot off the monitor for my baby book😁 x

@Babymaher spinningbabies.com/start/in-pregnancy/daily-activities/ here’s the relevant spinning babies page. my midwife recommends these activities for everyone regardless of baby being head up or down or sideways as it helps them to get into the best position for birth (facing backwards).

peetieswie · 18/04/2020 08:58

Awful night sleep, had to get up for food and drink and then felt sick and gross afterwards and couldn't relax. Think it was heartburn but not had heartburn before. What does it feel like?

Lots of birth talk on here recently, which was to be expected, but it's made me realise how anxious I am about the birth. I thought I was not thinking about it because I was chilled and happy to go with the flow but I'm starting to get very nervous. I'm also scared to be on a ward on my own after it with a newborn, probably exhausted and possibly struggling to feed it. Anyone else feel the same or any advice?

mrssunshinexxx · 18/04/2020 09:00

I'm excited about labour but appreciate this could change ! @peetieswie can you talk to your husband about worries fingers crossed you have a smooth labour. My midwife said aslong as labour gone well you can discharge yourself straight away pretty much then she would come to the house the following day to do the babies checks rather than having to wait the 6 hours. Maybe worth asking if yours would do that? X

Rinoa · 18/04/2020 09:02

@Pegase wow that's a good idea for baby's bum! I would have never thought!

Magpiefeather · 18/04/2020 09:29

Thanks for that link @UKtoSK, I definitely need to start with these exercises. I do walk and bounce on my exercise ball but that’s about it!

@peetieswie I thought I was feeling alright about the birth too and I am ok if I don’t think about it too much. I’ve probably just been ignoring my fears... as we get closer I do get a bit more anxious especially with the whole covid situation. Ultimately we will just have to do our best really so I am trying to focus on the positives.
