Welcome @HayleyD84!

@AndddddHerewegoagain hope things get going soon!

I had my last midwife appointment and growth scan today so it really feels like it's getting closer!!

Has anyone experienced their fundal height measurement drop? Had midwife today, Mines been measuring big all the way through my pregnancy untill today where it's gone from 97th centile to 90th since 34 weeks, they've booked me for a Growth scan but not untill not Tuesday, I have low papp-a which can effect growth apparently but midwife didn't mention anything about this and I know a lot of people have said that fundal measurements are always accurate. Just got me worried

36+4

newbyxx · 13/05/2020 20:59

Aren't* always accurate meant to say

APD1981 · 13/05/2020 21:04

I had supposed static growth from when a triage MW measured me at 32+4 and when my own MW measured me at 34+2 I was 34cm on both readings. I felt the triage MW one was wrong as she measured me from a different place on my pelvis and said this to my own MW as soon as I got to my 34 week appointment. Anyway, they aren't scanning for static growth at the mo so I was told to keep an even closer eye on movements. I was measured yesterday at 36+2 and I was back to 36cm so exactly on my curve. The triage MW messed up my lovely curve! I think at this stage baby's position and whether they're engage can affect your measurement. Try not to worry too much. It's really not a measurement to be relied on anyway.

Juno2002 · 13/05/2020 21:08

@newbyxx My measurements dropped from the 97th to between 75-90th lines. Referred for a growth scan on Monday and baby was happy and healthy sitting on the 50th centile. I had exactly the same with my son and he was absolutely fine too!

newbyxx · 13/05/2020 21:21

Thanks ladies that's made me feel better, this is why I love this group, my midwife was not reassuring at all, I asked whether it is because of the baby being engaged and she said no that doesn't make a difference at all, and rang the hospital in front of me and just said requesting a scan because I'm measuring 'small'. I'm 36+4 and measured 36cm I don't know if that's low or not she didn't really go in to it. But it's made my curve go down as I'm normally measuring a week a head so looked worse on the chart. I really haven't bonded with my midwife I feel like she's out of touch with everyone and doesn't know me and my
Pregnancy at all. X

@newbyxx for what it's worth my sister was measuring way above with her first. At just below 40 weeks she measured 44cm. That baby was born 39+6 and 8lbs 13oz.

Her 2nd baby measured exactly on her curve all the way through. She was born 40+3 at 9lbs 3oz.

So it really made absolutely no difference other than her first was a boy and her 2nd a girl and the old wives tale says you're bigger with a boy!!

@newbyxx I was measuring 34cm at 34 weeks when I was supposedly measuring “small”. My midwife said in the old system that was spot on but if you don’t quite follow the line nowadays you get referred just in case. Just see it as an opportunity to see baby again Smile

Kez437 · 13/05/2020 23:20

@newbyxx yes and this has been worrying me and haven't spoke up! Baby had initially started on 50th centile but then had a growth spurt and had sat on the 90th but I had my 36 week appointment last week at 35+5 and baby has come off it, not enough to go back to the 50th but not following the 90th curve either. Because the baby has grown and all other signs were good I wasn't referred for a growth scan but I have been worrying all week.
I'm based in NI and we don't have any more scans beyond the 20th so haven't seen baby since then, I also have literally not seen the same midwife twice so I'm not sure about the consistency of measuring. Apparently because of Covid I wasn't meant to be seen again until 40 weeks but she has brought me back at 38 weeks just to check but that's still another week away. Actually got hubby to measure me today I've been that worried.
Think next time I'm going to push for a growth scan, baby has just been on and off centiles, no one has really explained them to me and I've been given no indication if baby is measuring 'big' or 'small' or anything so feel clueless. What's everyone's thoughts? Anyone had similar experiences with midwives and lack of info?
