@AndddddHerewegoagain Aaaaah I see. Sorry - I probably haven't kept up enough.

@Babybird20 glad you got some movement! Who doesn't love a creme egg!!

LillianFullStop · 18/04/2020 23:04

@mrssunshinexxx my baby has been diagnosed with cleft lip and most likely palate so won't be able to breastfeed. My plan is to express colostrum before birth so he will be able to feed before we get the visit from the cleft specialist. I likely won't be able to express enough to get in a bottle as last time it took 4/5 days before my milk came and I definitely don't want to stay in hospital that long Confused hoping having colostrum ready will get us home sooner esp with the virus considerations.

Thanks @Andddddherewegoagain I'm seeing the midwife in 2 weeks for my 34w appt I'll ask then. I've looked online and can only see them in bulk and I definitely don't need 100 x 1ml syringes haha

@BabyBird20 nice work on the creme eggs - they start early don't they? haha I've been having icy lemonade with the warm weather and it makes my baby wriggle around Smile

mrssunshinexxx · 19/04/2020 07:32

@LillianFullStop that sounds like a great idea. If I can get some I will as you just never know and it gives me some practice with my boobs Grin might even bring labour on- bonus! X

Ginfilledcats · 19/04/2020 08:48

Morning everyone hope you're all well! I have been up with pregnancy insomnia since 3:30 again. Getting boring now haha!

Got my first NCT class on Zoom this morning! Quite looking forward to it, going to put "real clothes" (ie not leggings and joggers with oversized jumpers) on and....a bit of make up... I'm actually excited about that bit haha!

X

MissisBee · 19/04/2020 11:33

I got 1ml syringes and a few 5ml from Amazon. Planning to try and store colostrum in advance. Just need to work out the logistics of bringing it in to hospital.
I think you don't necessarily need a medical reason to do it, but not essential if everything is well. I've a friend who's a retired midwife and she was very encouraging about doing it. It be a slow and painstaking process but hand expressing is a handy skill to have. Some people won't have any colostrum antenatally, but that doesn't mean you'll have problems with supply later on.
Someone mentioned bottles vs syringes - depends on the volume you're needing to give, and some people prefer to avoid bottles early on in case it leads to nipple confusion or breast refusal. I had the opposite problem with DS - he refused every bottle under the sun 😂

newbyxx · 19/04/2020 16:11

Is anyone experiencing there baby getting hiccups? Mine seems to get them like twice a day? Is this normal? I've googled a wish I hadnt seen something xx

33+1

Busylizzie85 · 19/04/2020 16:17

@newbyxx I'm pretty sure mine has them a lot it's completely normal! My friend who I ask all my questions to as she had a baby recently said that it happened all the time with her one.
Always if your worried ask someone about it if you want more peace of mind. Smile

Blizy · 19/04/2020 16:24

@newbyxx perfectly normal for hiccups. My little one had the hiccups whilst I was being scanned, was cute.

newbyxx · 19/04/2020 16:31

@Blizy @Busylizzie85 thank you girls 😊 I need to stay off google! Xx

AmyMaria2 · 19/04/2020 16:56

Hope everyone is doing well!

Ladies who have had babies before, if I'm planning on breastfeeding do I need to expect to have to stay in the hospital longer? If my milk doesn't come in for 3-5 days do I have to feed baby formula until then? And do I have to stay in hospital until then, or can I go home and try breastfeeding when my milk is in?

Sorry loads of stupid questions, clueless here lol x

BabyBird20 · 19/04/2020 17:15

I'm so sadly excited that I've finally settled on a crib and ordered the snuzpod after seeing lots of you ladies saying you had one!! Will feel a lot better for having somewhere for the baby to sleep! Now to find sheets!! 😍😍

Blizy · 19/04/2020 17:34

@AmyMaria2 no you don't need to stay in hospital until your milk comes in. Your colostrum is plenty for your baby in the early days.

Rinoa · 19/04/2020 17:41

@newbyxx I asked my midwife the same about hiccups she said it's normal and frequently is fine. You can always ask yours too!

AndddddHerewegoagain · 19/04/2020 17:55

Anyone planning on hiring a tens machine can i please suggest you do it soon. I forgot and ordered one this week and have ended up having to order a really expensive one as the cheaper ones have all been booked 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Gigitree · 19/04/2020 17:57

@AmyMaria2. I started watching this video the other day and it helped answer some of my questions re: breastfeeding. Having watched the whole thing yet as it’s long, there’s a part 2 as well.

@BabyBird20 that’s really exciting! We love ours so far (obviously we haven’t used it yet though so only going on looks here😂)

Found some sheets on amazon too that fit, they were cheaper than the official Snuzpod ones x

Gigitree · 19/04/2020 17:57

@AndddddHerewegoagain I’m really on the fence as to whether I think I’d get on with it or not. Think I might see about hiring one rather than buying....

AndddddHerewegoagain · 19/04/2020 18:11

@Gigitree i didn't have one first time round and instantly regretted it!! Paracetamol was not cutting it. So thought I would order one this time

OP posts:
Gigitree · 19/04/2020 18:14

@Andddddherewegoagain
Oh really? Hmmm maybe I should think about getting one then! 🙈

AndddddHerewegoagain · 19/04/2020 18:17

Its obviously a very personal choice but I just wanted the option this time

LillianFullStop · 19/04/2020 18:24

Thanks @MissisBee I'm going to try to get some free ones from my midwife next week but I'll check out the Amazon ones too thanks!

@AndddddHerewegoagain I had the MAMA Tens from DD so I just need replacement pads. I'm going to ask for an ELCS but in case it doesn't get approved or I go into labour before my date I'll get it ready anyway. Thinking of getting the Positive Birth Company Digital course too - which was recommended by a friend.

@newbyxxx yes I got hiccups with DD and this time. It's a very strange wobbly feeling isn't it?

Anyone getting lightning crotch or fanny daggers? I had it really bad with my first pregnancy - literally would stop me mid-stride. was hoping I'd get away with it this time around but got a couple of jabs to the cervix today maybe because I was sat on the floor instead of on a proper cushioned seat. Probably because baby is now head down at 33w.

BabyBird20 · 19/04/2020 18:47

@gigitree thank you! I'm so excited to put it together!! Will have a look on amazon. 💙

@LillianFullStop me and DH have just started doing the positive birth company digital pack and really like it so far! I know nothing about birth so enjoying finding out the science behind it all and how it all works! 😊

AndddddHerewegoagain · 19/04/2020 19:52

@LillianFullStop I'm asking for a c section on Thursday as well. Hope they are good to you about it. I had photos of my son come up on timehop today at a month old. Its crazy how quickly you forget how they look with a cleft and how you weirdly miss it once its gone.

I've been having such bad braxton hicks and cervix pain. I tried to find my cervix yesterday as i was convinced labour was imminent but couldn't find it as it was so high so calmed myself down 😂😂

@BabyBird20 we also have a snuzpod. I absolutely loved it first time round. I lent it to a friend and have just realised it didn't come back with the sheets so going to have to order more. Quite annoyed as it also came back with a broken leg so we can only use it downstairs without the stand

OP posts:
MissisBee · 19/04/2020 20:02

Yes to the fanny daggers - worse when out walking, it's a horrible sensation!

Hadn't really thought of a tens machine this time - ordered one to hire last time, but DS was born before it arrived, so never used it!

Colostrum should be plenty in the first couple of days, but do be prepared for them wanting to feed ALL the time.

DS was a very hiccupy baby, this one not so much. He was also waay more active than this one.

mrssunshinexxx · 19/04/2020 20:12

Anyone else planning to do perennial massage or did it with a previous baby?
I'm going to give it a bash from 34 weeks
Wish I could be better at doing pelvic floor too I'm terrible at remembering

BabyBird20 · 19/04/2020 20:24

@AndddddHerewegoagain I'm strongly considering asking for a c section on Wednesday too! Have a consultant appointment to discuss the results of his MRI scan which we had last week and keeping fingers firmly crossed that all is well on that front but the idea that his head is measuring 4 weeks ahead is scaring me for a natural birth!! 😬😬
