Hello
am over here...!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mixedmama · 11/09/2007 16:36

He sleeps for about two hours either before or after lunch.

Bettymamma · 11/09/2007 16:42

Same as mine. I think thats quite normal.

Does he sleep right through at night normally? We should be grateful for that! I have a mate who's child has never ever slept past 5.30am. 2 years of waking at 5.30am. Sorry to scare any new mums......

MrsMcJnr · 11/09/2007 16:45

Feeling quite sick ? eaten loads of salty toasted corn and liquorice ? separately!
Also god knows what Beanie is up too but I keep feeling what can only be described as ?tremours? like odd vibrations ? roly polys perhaps ? oh, maybe its hiccups! Just thought of that!!

Hugs for you Awen

Bettymamma ? my Mum constantly goes on about my weight ? she hasn?t even seen me since I was 12 weeks and she told me then that I shouldn?t put on any with my pg because I am fat enough that?s all very well but she?s never had 38H breasts has she?! My Mum and sis are natural bean poles! I?m not, I?m curvy but I think fat would be a bit unfair. I was at Scottish Slimmers before I go pg but gave up shortly afterwards ? new things to think about!

ScotsgirlinOz ? I think January sounds a long way off to people because there is Christmas and the NY first if that makes sense ? I don?t think people who aren?t pregnant realise that it?ll be 2008 in less than 16 weeks!!

Neuro ? no worries thanks for the tips, I?ll look at that. That massage sounds heavenly.

mixedmama · 11/09/2007 16:49

MrsMCJnr - i think we have spoken about this before havent we. You just have to ignore people when they say stupid things.

bettymama - yes he wakes up between 7.00 - 8.30 and then just comes in to lie with us.

MamaMaiasaura · 11/09/2007 20:56

MrsMcJNr - you mum must be deluded. LOoking at your profile you are simply gorgeuas.

Ds all cute and in bed Sorry for those who LO get up. I am naughty and just lie with him till he is really sleepy

gingeme · 11/09/2007 22:10

Hi wow this new thread has filed up so so fast already. I wonder if well all be so chatty at the meet up.
Speaking of which Im going to ring and book our table on Thursday then I shall put the address of it on here then.
Just curious of your birth plans and who has written one. Mine this time is basicaly plonk me in the water when Im ready(meaning 5cm dialated) and let me get on with it please?
Awen scuse me for being dumb but your ds having an op? Im waiting to hear about my ds having his next month. Oh I remember talking to you about this on the word associaton thread. I got two books from the library yesterday especialy for children going into hospital. Is he having his adenoids out too? Oh I realy hope it all goes well for him. Let me know how it goes. Im dreading ds having it done.

MotherofZ · 12/09/2007 08:15

Morning all - Hope you are well!

Feeling emotional again today and I actually FEEL like crying, but waiting for an excuse..(does that make sense?)

Gingeme - vaguely thought about a birth plan in terms of pain relief (gad and air, then pethdine and if really needed the epidural - you never know how you react to pain until you are in that situation!) and I am going to try and push for a six hour discharge. Last time I had to stay four days and I was missing my nice lovely home sooooo much!!!

MM - DD goes to bed at 9:30pm, wakes around 7:45am and usually gets up at around 4am for milk. I need to sing 'Happy Birthday' to her about 20 times before she falls asleep!

Lol at Bettymama getting influenced by Bounty!!

Mrs McJnr - now is not the time to be taking notice of people obsessing about your weight. As long as you are happy with the way you are that's the main thing!

Had loads of other things to discuss - but it's slip my mind... pregnancy brain I think!!

sideways · 12/09/2007 09:36

Hi everyone, have had my 20-wk scan and everything is ok, which is a relief.

Birth plan - get me as much pain relief as possible as soon as possible. No, I'm not joking, as I have a complete fear of childbirth.

MrsMcJr - who cares what anyone else thinks about your weight. It is so odd how you become public property when pregnant and everyone thinks they are entitled to comment on you in ways they would not dare to do otherwise.

Would have loved to come down to the meet-up, but impossible to get to London for a mid-week lunch.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Bettymamma · 12/09/2007 09:36

Morning ladies

Gingeme - am LOVING the birth plan. I think i might copy it. Sorry to hear your son also having an op.

Mixedmama - my dd does the same as your ds regards to sleep. Though my mum put dd to bed last night because I had yoga (bliss!) and she was as good as gold for her surprise surprise!

Motherofz - Sorry to hear your feeling a bit pants today.
I was the same as you with the discharge. They were 'too busy' to do the paperwork so i needlessly took up a hospital bed overnight. I was SO angry. I'll discharge myself next time!

Do you think its too early for chocolate?

Bettymamma · 12/09/2007 09:38

Hi sideways - good news on the scan. Did you find out the flavour on your bean?

I was the same with my first with fears of childbirth and hopes of pain relief and then had a relatively easy and not as painful as I thought it would be labour. Who knows!

sideways · 12/09/2007 09:39

No, we don't know the flavour.

And it's never too early for chocolate!

Bettymamma · 12/09/2007 09:45

Good - i'm tucking into chocolate covered nuts. Its kind of nutritious - yes?

MotherofZ · 12/09/2007 09:48

oooh don't get me going on chocolate otherwise I will have to get another Bounty Bar...the coconuts must be benificial some how...??

OP posts:
fluffymummy · 12/09/2007 09:55

Coconuts and chocolate definitely meet loads of food group needs. They must, otherwise I wouldn't crave them so much, right? Same goes for crisps, cheese and bread...

Although I'm being 'good' right now and munching on redcurrants. Only a little bit good, as they're supposed to be for my lunch and I had a huuuuge bowl of muesli about an hour ago....

Birth plan - not going to bother this time. Spent ages on it last time and then was induced and the whole thing went totally out of the window. Think it will be something along the lines of Gingeme's with an added note 'no pethidine under any circumstances' as I have horrible reactions to opiates.

Sigh...guess I should do some work today, been bunking off for days...

LilyLoo · 12/09/2007 10:05

Gingeme my birth plan this time is similair to yours if i can hire a birthing pool for at home
congrats on scan Sideways
LOL at the chocolate bm , i have really gone off chocolate tbh but am eating lot's of carbs Had toast now on porridge!
LOL motherofz at singing happy birthday to dd
I quite lucky with my two they both have story then in bed and left to fall asleep at 7.00 - 7.30. Although ds wasn't always like this was 3 before he slept through so am praying i get another one like dd or i will be terrible, i am useless without enough sleep. I genuinely feel faint and sick when i'm overtired. DD was an angel and pretty much slept through mostly from 6 - 8weeks old!
Hope everyone else good

gingeme · 12/09/2007 10:10

Morning ladies. Oh I couldnt even contemplate chocolate yet. Give me another hour and Ill have a Snickers with my coffee thankyou very much
Funny enough talking of my ds's op I had a phone call from the hospital this morning . He has to go for a pre assessment on the 19thSept and his actual op,providing he is well, is on the 29thSept. Didnt expect it to be so soon. Poor little mite only starts nursery on the 26th. His teacher is visiting us tomm morning so well give her the dates
Got another bloody headache today Had one all day yesteday and couldnt shift it despite taking paracetamol every 4 hours. Normaly Id take something a bit stronger when it gets that bad but cant.
Were going swimming later. Just hope I fit into my costume
Have a good day all x

mixedmama · 12/09/2007 10:32

Morning everyone,

Oh Birth plans.... I had done mine. I have to say it is quite detailed.
Basics are:

  • as few internal exams as possisble
  • pool, but not too early as would like to deliver in there.
  • G&A
  • no diamorphine / pethidine UNDERLINED IN RED, hated it so much last time.
  • Dont offer Epi will ask for it if I want it.
  • Discharge as soon as.

A few bits abotu Vit K injection, cord cutting, and a little section about C Section.

Put a sentance at the top about being flexible and stuff.

Bettymamma · 12/09/2007 10:37

oh lilyloo - I am very jealous of your dd! It's funny how they are all different from a very early

mixedmama - your birthplan sounds very sensible too. Have heard pethidine doesn't relieve the pain - just makes you more delirious so you are less able to complain about it. Is this true??

fluffymummy - redcurrants - any good? do u think they'd be nice with a chocolate coating....

LilyLoo · 12/09/2007 10:41

Betty i have never had pethidine but my sister had it and she was still out of it when i went to see her in an hospital after she had given birth, mayber an hour or so later. Bbay was very sleppy and she wasn't really interested in baby.
Needless to say she didn't have it for her second.

MotherofZ · 12/09/2007 10:53

I had the pethadine, but I think it must have been a very low dose as it just took the edge off the pain, as I could stil feel the contractions.

OP posts:
mixedmama · 12/09/2007 10:59

I actually had diamorphine rather than pethidine. It made me incredibly drowsy and I really didnt like the effect and DS didnt make hardly a noise for two days. I would rather go for an epidural this time around if it gets too much. Having said that I never had an epi last time so dont know how I would like that. I am starting in brithing centre anyway, so no epi available so hoping that will be enough to get through as naturally as possible, but who knows how it is going to go on the day.

Bettymamma · 12/09/2007 11:00

I've heard that before about pethidine.

Now gas and air - they should sell that! It was wonderful.

mixedmama · 12/09/2007 11:02

I had three whole canisters of G&A. Have to say that made me delirious as well.... I was telling DH all about my clubbing days in good old Enfield. They were convinced I wouldnt finish the last one but I used it all the way through stitches and everything.

LilyLoo · 12/09/2007 11:04

exactly all the best laid plans and all that!
I had g and a with ds and loved it, Had nothing with dd so hoping to do the same again but am open minded about how it will go although limited on pain relief anyway at home !

MotherofZ · 12/09/2007 11:06

lol at MM - G&A is wonderful, I was so hyper, telling my hubby that all the midwives are conspiring against us and then half way through I told my DH to go away so I could go to sleep as it made me so drowsy.

DH tried it too but made him feel realy sick!
