Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MrsMcJnr · 11/09/2007 14:30

Thanks Bettymama there was a drive by on Friday but no new news on the house front.

Welcome Vondo24 ? tell us more; is this your first baby?

Beller ? ahh yes, saw those too. I?ve heard you have to watch out with boys and cot top changers

Mrsbiscuit - glad the scan went well! xx

Thanks MotherofZ what I?d do for a choccy biccie (oh god, wasn?t that a really old dirty joke?!)

Lilyloo ? so glad all went well with DD and you got a good result from Asda, I bet you feel much better now

Neuro ? I?m with you on the MC pain, I?d never felt anything like it but the fact that my heart was breaking at the same time, certainly didn?t help [ anyway onwards ? pain means meeting baby this time I hope so much better!! Have you read any active birth books? I?m looking for one. Not read any books by Margaret Drabble ? what kind of a read are they? (love reading generally).

Barristermum I know what you mean! Great summary! how awful about the paedophile types! All the very best for this afternoon

Fluffymummy I?m good thanks had quite a quiet weekend, lots of sleeping, was very tired and some good quality DH time also had a lovely facial on Sat ? am trying to work out our finances too so have been thinking about that a lot but all fine thanks for asking! I read that 1 stone so far was fine, sorry your GP was cross I never get weighed but then again I have my mother constantly having a go?. hope all is well with you.

MrsBiscuit that?s fab scan news! Mine?s legs measured a week ahead at the scan. How were your hols? Can you share your buggy research with us?

Angechica ? I get those updates too, they are fab, DH reads them too. Sounds like we had the same hobby pre pg

Spud01 ? that?s great, glad all is well!

Beckyau poor you ? no wonder you are frustrated! can just imagine your Beanie thinking ?go Mum?!

mixedmama · 11/09/2007 14:35

Awen - please dont stress yourself hun. I know how you feel about the GA. We have discussed it before, it is hard to watch but will be absolutely fine. Be ready to have a good cry then though.... i was a little hysterical for a moment with DS as I just didnt expect to be emotional about it.

MamaMaiasaura · 11/09/2007 14:47

Am just a bit of a wet blanket atm. Thanks mixedmama. Need to focus on his 'brave boy' pressie

Bettymamma · 11/09/2007 14:48

Awen - a big hug lovey. Its all those hormones and the stress of your ds having to go into hospital. We're also getting to the tired stage so that doesn't help. Hope you are ok. How's ds feeling about it?

MrsMcJnr - does your mum go on about your weight? Mine too. Grrr. She's a weight watchers fan and keeps giving me leaflets for 'after the birth'. I've never had a problem with my weight and went back to prebirth weight with dd 9 months after having her - its just the rest of the family who are obsessed with their weight!

House moves - good luck everyone! I can't imagine what it would be like doing all that pg. Luckily got it out the way the month before we conceived this beanie.

Good news with the scan spud01 - well done not finding out the flavour.

Busy day at work today - my legs are sooooo swollen.

beller · 11/09/2007 14:51

Awen - I was like that last tuesday...cried all day....big hugs..its normal to feel emotional about your ds having an op xx

ScotGirlInOz · 11/09/2007 14:55

hi girls
how are u all? good I hope!
I have had backache today - get backache sometimes anyway and don;t think my posture is the greatest to be honest!
Oh, well will have to be concious of sitting up straighter!!
Got told yesterday "oh, you are getting big!" (had only seen the lady for first time since being pregnant last week!) and she said when are you due and I was like January and she was like "oooh, you've still got four months to go!". Have to say it was a great confidence booster - NOT! Haven't put that much weight on though - think it is the way bub is lying! (that's what I'm ttelling myself anyway). Love how anyone comments on you when you are pregnant!
Sorry for the rant!

MotherofZ · 11/09/2007 14:57

Awen - all the best with your son.

Bit fed up with work now - tucking into a Bounty Bar to soothe away my stresses...

OP posts:
LilyLoo · 11/09/2007 14:58

thanks all have just cheered myself up by doing mystery shopping trip where i got £50 to open a new bank account didn't treat myself but did dd and ds
Great news about the scan spud/ mrsb.
Poor you becyau , it's so awful isn't it.
Good luck to whoever was getting results this aft haven't time to look up your name sorry off to get ds

MamaMaiasaura · 11/09/2007 15:03

lilyloo - i want ot do mystrey shopping

Also your bounty bar sounds scrummy motherofz.

Beller - thanks. Just feel silly iykwim. Also it isnt me who is going through op. Ds said to me at bedtime on Sunday that he doesnt want to sleep in hosptial. He said if i tell them i will be a good boy and eat crisps and toast like they want will they let me sleep at home. Bless. I will be staying in with him on a little camp bed (with my bulging belly).

MamaMaiasaura · 11/09/2007 15:04

had a look at this thread which was really sweet

mixedmama · 11/09/2007 15:08

Ahhh Awen your DS is soooo sweet.

I have been trying to get DS into some semblance of a routine in the evenings. Going quite well. But i cant get himt o stay on his bed so had to take his chair into the roomand strap him in and put him to nearly sleep and then transfer him to the bed.... any ideas???

MotherofZ · 11/09/2007 15:13

that's made me feel really emotional now...

OP posts:
MamaMaiasaura · 11/09/2007 15:13

I am really bad at sleep stuff I think. I read ds a couple of stories in his bed (mid sleeper) and then have a snuggle, sing his song and lie with him for about 5-10 minutes unless i fall asleep. Am sure as he gets older he wont want those cuddles at bed time.

MamaMaiasaura · 11/09/2007 15:14

it is amazing isnt it motherofz. Right off to collect ds and play trains and word art!

Soberandsad · 11/09/2007 15:24

Thanks for that Awen that is lovely and makes it look as if we are all nearly there.

Angechica - I actually wasn't sick at all but rather than my appetite getting bigger it seems to have got a lot smaller. And i am no longer drinking huge quantities of wine!!

Neuro · 11/09/2007 15:25

Sorry MrsMcJnr, think it might be MrsWizz over on other board. No not read any active birth books, but am going to buy Gowri Motha's book this week....it looks good. She has a second book which has lots of lovely natural stuff in it for after the birth. The book is called Gentle Birth Method link here: www.gentlebirthmethod.com/

Yeah, Margaret Drabble is ace, the book i mentioned was written in 1965, but it's just so eloquent.

I am in process of booking a 2 hour home visit massage lady who specialises in preggy ladies and promises all this:

Relieves aches and pains, Deep relaxation of the mind and body, Reduction of anxiety and tension, Lower blood pressure, HELPS TO SLEEP!, improves circulation, Reduce fluid retention.

I think ulitmately my hip joint is f*ed, so the massage is for pain relief. So far i've escaped all other ails...Prob jinxed myself now.

ScotGirlInOz · 11/09/2007 15:25

awen - how old is your ds?
my dd had grommets inserted and adenoids scraped as she continually had glue ear and she went in there - she was only 2 and a half - and the anaesthetist came and drew a smiley face on her hand for where her medicine would go and she would not stop asking for the medicine until the nurse came and gave her it! - it was embarassing!
Then dd sat and drew until it was time for her to go in! She was first one in and we went to the operating theatre and they gave her the gas and then said mummy thanks for your help - you can go now! The tears were just beginning to come! But honestly she was only under for about half an hour then they came and got me to go to her and wheeled us back to the room where she slept for ages next to me on the bed with me holding a little oxygen mask over her mouth and nose - then she woke up and said I'll do that mummy and took the oxygen mask so she could do it herself and straight away asked for her icecream and jelly!
Your little ds will be fine - it is nerve racking on mum though! Does he have to spend the night in hospital? The nurses are so good with the kids!
Good Luck

beller · 11/09/2007 15:43

Those 4d scan pics were fab...the 28 and 29 weeks look soooooooooooooo cute!

Bettymamma · 11/09/2007 16:03

Ah ScotgirlinOz your little girl sounds very sweet. Awen - its good that you'll be with him all night and like ScotgirlinOz said the nurses can be very good with kiddies. My thoughts go out to you.

Neuro - MrsMcJ - my yoga teacher has suggested Gowri Motha. The massage lady sounds fantastic. The yoga helps with sleep too. Brilliant.

Soberandsad - I'm guessing you used to like your wine alot!

Mixedmama - we've also had bad sleeping probs with my dd. Is your ds in a bed not a cot? I have to do a lot of book reading, singing and cuddiling. She told me last night she really doesn't like going to bed. I don't know why - her room is the nicest in our house!

Motherofz - i've had to get a bounty bar.

Neuro · 11/09/2007 16:09

Lulubump I just peeped at that natural birth vid. It all sounds good, but the slightest drop of anything gooey/bloody just makes my head spin with faintness. I'm a bit embarrassed about it and dreading labour from solely that point of view.
Even just seeing the umbilical cord made my eyesight go funny.
The Shame!

Neuro · 11/09/2007 16:11

Yeah that's the book i'm about to buy.

I feel totally queasy after watching that birth vid.

At school when i was about 15 we watched a human birth and the whole world went yellow, i fell off my stool and passed out for 5 mins.

My dad lived next to a farm when i was kid and we used to go and watch them being born. I'd see stars and regularly pass out in the straw! My siblings loved that aspect more than seeing lambs being born.

Neuro · 11/09/2007 16:12

Sorry, I meant a human birth VIDEO. Not a woman giving birth in our classroom.

See? My brain's gone funny now too.

Bettymamma · 11/09/2007 16:19

Neuro - you make me PMSL!

mixedmama · 11/09/2007 16:23

I love watching people giving birth.... in factI am a little obsessed.

bettymama - yeah he is in a bed now. the thing is he wont sit still for stories or anything... he just likes to climb off grab a toy climb back and i think he could do this all night. he was asleep by 8pm last night which i was very happy with as he normally goes about 9.30 or sometimes comes to bed with me. trying to get this habit quashed before LO arrives.

Bettymamma · 11/09/2007 16:33

Tell me about it! I'm equally worried.

My dd normally goes at 8.30pm eventually. But always tries the 'mummy's bed' tactic. Its like they're worried they miss out on something if they go to sleep. Does your ds have a big nap in the day?
