OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Soberandsad · 11/09/2007 10:55

Hello everyone,

Can i join your thread? I am due with dc2 on the 18th January.

Neuro · 11/09/2007 11:00

Lilyloo - just read your other thread - err i think it's pretty serious, your granny could've been seriously hurt. AND if we were Americans you could sue their arses off...

Bettymamma · 11/09/2007 11:00

Hi soberandsad - feel free to join the thread - why are you soberandsad?!

Lilyloo - absolutely outrageous - especially the comment that it was your nans fault. Disgusting. Your local paper would be VERY interested in it.

Neuro - not long to go and your boss will be a distant memory. Don't let it get to you. Hope it wasn't a panic attack last night.

Neuro · 11/09/2007 11:00

hello Soberandsad

Are you really sad?

Lulubump · 11/09/2007 11:02

Welcome soberandsad!
Neuro, I noticed something really weird about my beathlessness - for some reason, I tend to get like that nowadays either when I haven't drunk enough water or I've had my daily coffee (I guess coffee causes dehydration). I think a panic attack feels like you can't get enough air - is this what it was like?

Lilyloo - posted on your other thread - totally unbelievable!!!!

Neuro · 11/09/2007 11:02

No, it wasn't a panic attack, think it's just everything becoming pushed upwards and squashed. I'm feeling more breathless as time goes on, despite doing more exercise daily. Oh, hang on! I read yesterday what happens at 26 weeks in terms of blood volume, and lungs being pushed out or something, and they all correlate to how i feel. So i'm just experiencing them two weeks early i think.

Soberandsad · 11/09/2007 11:04

decided on my name not too long after I found out I was pg and was sad about the sober part to start with, not anymore have got used to it and it has stopped me from any significant weight gain only 2lbs so far!!

MotherofZ · 11/09/2007 11:08

Lilyloo - posted on your other thread - really makes me when other people walk all over the elderly and people who can't defend themselves.

hi soberandsad

OP posts:
Neuro · 11/09/2007 11:11

Lulubump - yep. Like not being able to breath properly. Actually i've just had my one daily real coffee and i can feel my heart beating so fast!!! Ooops. It's my only sin really...

Has anyone read this book: Gentle Birth Method by Dr Gowri Motha. I'm sort of doing a DIY version of it! Might buy the Visualisation/Self Hypnosis DVD as I really want a calm birth.

I've started writing my birth plan. It's amazing now i've started how many things there are to think of.

Soberandsad · 11/09/2007 11:14

Hi all and thanks for being so welcoming.

Angechica · 11/09/2007 11:22

I have to contact Drs receptionists as part of my job and they totally are a breed apart aren't they! I usually adopt a first name term with the Dr I am ringing about and say who I am from and then they start crawling big time.

I think they get dehumainsed as they do have to be specially trained as rottweilers to be the first line of defence for the loopy patients so I don't envy them that, though! One of our trainees got locked in her consulting room and beaten to a pulp by a crazed patient recently!

mixedmama · 11/09/2007 11:27

OMG that is awful.

I am thinking of docs receptionist jobs when I go back to work.... as a local alternative to returning to the City and something quite flexible. I have a blue chip background though so hoping that I wont be the sour faced prying ones that seem to exist at present.

MamaMaiasaura · 11/09/2007 11:34

[shok] angchica! that is awful. Having said that though in my profession (MH nursing) we are continually at risk, doesnt mean we are rude tho.

Nuero - Love your imagination you made me laugh. Sorry your boss is such a pillock tho. Roll on your maternity leave. Are you going back after?

Welcome Soberandsad

MrsMcJnr · 11/09/2007 11:38

Back again and starting where I left off

Awen ? 40 year old moses basket! Now that is impressive! My sis is going to bring up a load of her baby stuff when she comes to visit me in November maybe our new thread should be ?the tale of the bladder dancing beanies?! GP receptionists are notoriously nasty but what was wrong with the other woman was she jealous perhaps?

Hey Beller what exciting and energetic things did you get up to at the weekend? Remember you said you were going to Police The midwife thing works so differently in different parts of the country! Wow, you are really well organised with your baby equipment DH and I have come to the conclusion that when it comes to superstition v practicality & organisation ? the latter has to win love the furniture ? where will you do changing? On the chest? I see you are the first of the regulars to pop

We had our Nursery Advisor appointment at John Lewis on Sunday. We thought it would more like a wedding list process and pretty useless but it was actually brilliant and I can highly recommend it to clueless folks like us we spent ages looking at various types of buggies, cots etc, there was no hard sell just information and solid advice from someone who already had kids and she really gave us food for thought. So anyone who hasn?t started looking at anything yet, I?d recommend this free service, we got 2 ½ hours of advice for nothing

MotherofZ ? poor you with the traffic jams and then the dodgy dinner hope you are back to full strength now I?m the same, I plan to batch cook loads of dinners too ? as soon as we hit 3 months before my EDD, I?ll start must also make my Christmas cake soon too ? I normally make about 4 for various family members ? means Christmas is on the way!

Bluebell82 ? natural to be worried hon, I know I was we don?t get 20 week scans as standard here and my Consultant made it clear that she was looking for things that weren?t right so it felt like a real moment of truth for us. I hope it all went ok, let us know

Beckyau ? hello fingers crossed that all happens now with your move!

Hey Mixedmama ? hope you enjoyed your week off so glad the scan went well congratulations on a blue one my friend came round for coffee yesterday and thinks I have a blue feel to me! Looks like there are 5 boys and 4 girls so far this thread sorry about your bro but good to now have a diagnosis I?m having really irritating dreams at the moment ? Sunday night, I dreamt all night that I was in a tiny airline seat and couldn?t get comfy and last night I hulled strawberries all night ? what is that all about?! My mat leave starts 14 weeks on Friday

Hello Angechica

Hey Bettymamma happy belated birthday to DD think Lilyloo, Imawurzel and Molly65 are also having girls I?m tired again too ? the energetic stage didn?t last long did it!

Hello Fluffymummy ? your day in the park sounded great

Hello Neuro impressed with the cycling, walking up the stairs gets my heart pounding have my first Aqua Natal tomorrow ? got a cosie yesterday, I look like a hippo! Gosh I?m still really scared of the idea of the birth and glad I still have many, many weeks! I think for us, the fact we need to sell our house, move out and sort out our financial situation also mean we need the time but I?m with you on leaving work ? please oh please can I not go back too!? thanks for the seaweed tip, I love seaweed I desperately need new bras, the ones I bought in the early weeks are really digging in now

Gingeme ? how exciting to see a bump within the bump

I?m one of 3 girls and DH has a sister ? we?d both like 4 but we?ll see! DH is already talking about when we should start trying for the next one

Tripletsandtwins ? my Mum and MIL are both one of 5, it?s great at family gatherings

Hello and welcome ScotsgirlinOz well done for not giving in to temptation

Hey Lilyloo hope DD gets on well at pre-school!

Hello toomanyshoes so of your mat leave!! Great benefits too!!

Ayreshirelolo all the very best for Thursday?s scan

Hey Fruitful ? hmmmm jelly tots love those though they hurt your tongue after a packet or two

Hey Sabinar ? good to hear from you all the best for Thursday?s scan. Enjoy the pilates

Hello Lulubump

Ahh got to come up for air

mixedmama · 11/09/2007 11:38

Awen - are you a mental health nurse.... hmmm might have some questions for you over the coming weeks. Are you an NHS nurse?

Lulubump · 11/09/2007 11:42

Angechica - that's horrible! Was the trainee alright? How did they manage to rescue her?

I am completely asleep with my eyes open today, doing a good impression of being busy at my desk though thanks to you guys . I think the tired phase is about to hit. From what week are we officially in the third trimester?

Neuro - I'm very interested in the hypnosis for childbirth idea. Did you have a look at the link I'd posted last week to a labour video of a woman who had a hypnobirth? If you didn't, and you'd like to , let me know and I'll hunt it up for you.

Angechica · 11/09/2007 11:43

If you are looking to change to public sector / NHS admin, the Practice Manager role is a better than a receptionist - better paid etc.

There is also clinical and financial management in secondary health care settings.

Entry requirements - "You will find it helpful to have experience of accountancy or bookkeeping, personnel work, or management in another industry".

MrsMcJnr · 11/09/2007 11:44

Lilyloo ? your poor Gran I think they should have looked after her far better ? complain and see if you can get her some free shopping

Neuro ? get a doll to stick some pins in my boss is utterly spineless too.

Hello and welcome Soberandsad I am due with my first the day before you (we?ll see!)

Yay ? caught up finally!

Angechica · 11/09/2007 11:46

NB - The Dr did have a panic button in the room. But there was a bolt on the inside of the door! Shocking health & safety lapse.

mixedmama · 11/09/2007 11:46

Thanks Angechica. I just want to be more local really, so am looking at schools or NHS. I have spent the past year really honing my PA work so would rather not go backwards to reception.

Bettymamma · 11/09/2007 11:48

wow - MrsMcJnr! What a lovely long message. You are fab at remembering everyone. You even remembered it had been my dd's birthday! Bless you.

How is the house selling going?

Angechica - you are right - i don't envy the job of a dr's receptionist. But I guess Awen is right - doesn't mean they have to be rude.

Bettymamma · 11/09/2007 11:49

This thread is so busy! Apologies, I keep crossing everyone elses messages.

MamaMaiasaura · 11/09/2007 11:50

yes mixedmama - not working atm tho

beller · 11/09/2007 11:52

Lillyloo- thats terrible!!! have read the post and think they should definately do more than a £20 voucher!?

Motherofz - Have been back and tried 3 times with ex fiance! I did love him, and him me, but for some reason at the age of 44, he has issues and cant manage a relationship. Hard to say why..any minor/major disagreement, and he would just walk out (wherever you were) and not speak for sometimes weeks/months! eh? Has apologised many time, and said it wont happen again..for it to happen everytime? I would have been wife number 3..for a reason methinks!
