Hi Mrs McJnr - you must be exhusted after that posting

Beller - oh well - forget him - sounds a bit immature for a 44 yr old if he can't work at a relationship!!

Hello Vondo - welcome - we're having a busy morning! How far along are you? Have you had a scan? Do you know the flavour?

Today is the closing date for the application I submitted..wonder if I will hear anything soon?

LilyLoo · 11/09/2007 12:25

Well back from pre school with dd she was a star , no tears and seems to have had a lovely morning
Also just spoke to customer service manager who has agreed to go round to my nan with some flowers and grocerys and an apology for the unacceptable service she recieved after her fall.
The manager asked me to come in and see her too might not do that as i got so cross with her at one point i ended up crying it must be the pg hormones! Oh well at least nan will be happy with that!
Welcome Vondo and soberandsad
Thanks all of you for your comments on my other thread.

Neuro · 11/09/2007 12:34

Yes please lulubump post that hypnobirth link. Not sure i'd be able to whisk myself off somehwere else, but, I have not forgotten my miscarriage experience, and lying in bed for 3 days in absolute agony and the worst pain i've ever experienced - to the point where i felt like i was hallucinating, i had to really get control of myself mentally. So in a way, i feel i have a vague idea of the sort of mental battle i'll be up against. However, i expect it this time to a positive version as i'll have a real baby at the end.
I'm looking on it as a challenge.
MrsMcjnr are you the Margaret Drabble fan? I recently read The Millstone and love it. What a fabulous writer. Going to ask for books by her for Christmas. I think my own sentence formation improved after reading The Millstone.

Can anyone tell me if the Vitamin K given to babies at birth is better given orally or by injection?

mixedmama · 11/09/2007 12:35

Not sure which is better Neuro, but DS had the injection and seemed fine.

barristermum · 11/09/2007 12:39

Phew!! Am shattered after catching up with everything. You let it go for a few days and it's like running a marathon.
In short, I love Beller's furniture, am outraged for Lilyloo's Nan and proud for her daughter, grossed out by Awen's mice and the slugs (were they angechica's?) , hopeful beckyau exchanged and enjoyed her glass of wine, pleased for mixedmama's scan, sorry not to see fluffymummy next week, impressed at neuro and beller's commitment to future romance after some dire experiences (but can I sound a horrendous note of caution on future dating? This may be shockingly cynical but don't advertise yourself as a Mum when internet dating or out on the prowl - wait until you know it's developing before mentioning the children. I do a fair bit of paedohile cases and the predatory ones scout for lone women with children ).
I welcome all newbies to thread and ask for good wishes for my anomaly scan this afternoon at 4pm. Beannie was really active last night when dh and I went to see Atonement (realy really good - love James McAvoy in anything and Keira Knightly who can be flat was fabulous, and it's soooo romantic, yet dh loved too. Our film of the year so far) so feel optimistic but will feel calmer later.

Lulubump · 11/09/2007 12:40

The link to the hypnobirth video is www.pregnancybirthandbabies.com/birthvideo.htm - very inspiring!

Lilyloo - glad your battle with the supermarket has resulted in some positive action on their part. What a nightmare! Don't worry about crying - I think just the frustration from dealing with their attitude alone was enough to set anyone off!

fluffymummy · 11/09/2007 12:43

Oh my word, 4 hours in and there's already about 60 messages on here!

Neuro - big sympathy for your manager rant...just keep smiling sweetly and counting the days

Awen - what a horrid lady. Big hugs atcha...and don't worry about getting 'tired and emotional'...you're pregnant, its natural!!

Motherofz - fantastic, thanks for the new thread!!

MrsMc - how are you? Well done on the massive catch up, but what have you been up to hon, apart from the John Lewis thing? Are you feeling good?

Toomanyshoes - I'm of both your maternity leave starting so soon and that you get paid for so much of it...what on earth do you do?!

Sabina - thanks, glad I'm not the only one! Good luck with the scan

A massive welcome to all the newbies, although I'm very that soberandsad has only put on 2lbs. I'm now at the 1st stone mark...

Went to the GP for my 4 weekly check up this morning, who has bollocked me a bit again for putting on even more weight. I'm having a glucose/thyroid blood test in a couple of weeks, just to rule out anything unruly going on Thing is, I'm really not eating enormous amounts - I'm definitely being less careful than when I'm not pregnant but I'm really not stuffing my face! And yes...6lbs in 3 weeks? That's a lot! Although looking at the results of my scan, its going to be another very tall baby - even so, its not going to weigh 14lbs (I hope!) and I've got 19 weeks left to go
Bit worried, to be honest...

MrsBiscuit · 11/09/2007 13:07

Hello,
Back from holiday and into work with a thump; it took me ages to read up on what's been going on so can I be lazy and just ditto barristermum's summary? Hello Vonda and Soberand sad.

We had our 20 week scan this morning and all's well - didn't find out the sex, but did find out that it's got very long legs . They had to measure twice to make sure they hadn't got it wrong, then they spotted my giraffe-like dh and figured it must be right.

Did lots of research and got into a spin about all the types of buggies/pushchairs over the weekend - so confusing! All decision making has been removed though as we've been offered one with all the bits and pieces from a friend. Now, onto cots....

beller · 11/09/2007 13:13

Barristermum - Would deifnately not advertise the fact..even if I wouldnt want anyone near babybel until i was completely sure. I helped put a paedophile away 10 years ago too..so am probably even more high security on the issue...very scary world sometimes xx

Mrsbiscuit - glad the scan went well! xx

Fluffymummy - how often do you see the doc/midwife..I havnt even seen mine yet! See her next week and ill be 26 weeks!

Angechica · 11/09/2007 13:14

On my Babycentre weekly email it said I would probably have gained 12-15 lbs by week 22 which is spot on - I have put on a stone.

That is without my regular pre-pg Wine lake draining activity!

Were you really sick in the first trimester SoberandSad?

Neuro · 11/09/2007 13:17

Thanks for the dating tip Barrister mum! It's something that has crossed my mind. I like to think I am quite streetwise/percetive, but I also know that paedophiles and psychopaths can be very charming otherwise they would never have any victims.

spud01 · 11/09/2007 13:18

hello everyone, hope everyone is well.

Had my scan this morning and all was well, lo was very active this morning totally opposite to last scan, we stuck to our guns and didnt find out the flavour, even though to be honest I dont think she could of told us anyway, lo wouldnt keep still long enough. Glad all other scans are going well too.

Welcome to all the newbies

I will drop in again soon x

BeckyAu · 11/09/2007 13:34

Afternoon ladies

I am so so sorry I have to have a rant! One of the things about working alone from home is there's no-one to share with...

ok... we were due to exchange house contracts yesterday with view to moving on friday. Then we couldn't because someone's solicitor went home. There was an extra clause being put into one of the contracts further down the chain but i was told this was done last night ready for exchange first thing this morning. So why oh why am I told the clause is being done now "as we speak" then someone has to check funds can be released and as far as i can see everyone's lying, no-one's getting off their backside to do anything and I am SOOOOO frustrated! Just give me the phone and I'll do it! ARGH!!!! I was promised we'd exchange before lunch. No call... not a blooming whisper. Am tempted to call the solicitor and shout but there's no point despite the fact that we're paying them lots and lots of money for doing apparently nothing. Yes I know of course they have done work but..... Intake of breath.... SO SORRY! I am so frustrated - I am worried we won't get a removal firm in time (got one on standby but they could get booked any time and we'd lose our slot) and I think I'm just anxious about lots of things. DH goes to Vienna for the week next week so if we do move before then I will be alone in the new house which will also be odd.

Rant over! Thanks so much for listening - much appreciated. Clearly Beanie wants to get involved too as is wriggling like a good un today

xxxxxxxxxxxx

BeckyAu · 11/09/2007 13:44

And I feel sick as have just eaten half a packet of biscuits to "make myself feel better"... it hasn't worked. Am tempted to start on the ice cream! Is this what they call comfort eating???

MrsBiscuit · 11/09/2007 13:48

BeckyAu,

You poor sod. I don't know what it is about selling houses but it's always a nightmare . Just think forward and that once you move into your new place, you'll soon forget all this delay and hassle.

I know someone who did the conveyancing themselves and said it was a piece of p*ss - I'm seriously considering it next time.

beller · 11/09/2007 13:49

(((((((((((((((((((beckyau)))))))))))))))))
Sounds sooooo frustrating..why say its done when its clearly not!! Have they said when they will get back to you? It is possible to exchange and complete n the same day i think? I know its not ideal, but you still have time...Just keep calling them, they will soon want to get rid of you and get of their arses to do the work! Hoep it happens soon hun xx

fluffymummy · 11/09/2007 14:09

BeckyAu, so sorry you're having to deal with all this stressy moving house buying stuff...big hugs atcha

Beller - I'm supposed to see my GP every 4 weeks from 16 weeks until around 32 weeks (I think), then it drops down to every 2 weeks or something. I'm in 'shared care' (sounds dodgy!), basically I go into the hospital for main appts (scans, my 12 week 'booking in' with the midwife and a 28 week check up) and see my GP for everything else. Last time I gave birth at a different hospital which had a midwife team in my area, so my shared care involved more midwife visits and less to my GP.

Angechica - I'm only at the 20/21 week mark, but thanks so much for making me feel less of a fat cow!!!

Barristermum - really I'm not going to meet you next week, fingers crossed for today's checks...please let us know how you get on...

MotherofZ · 11/09/2007 14:15

BeckyAu - really feel for you - took as 8 months to get our house and the whole process was a major pain in the backside. I think you just need to keep chasing things to speed the process up.

Try not to let it stress you out too much - not good for you or baby and it's ok to go through a tub of ice cream .

OP posts:
mixedmama · 11/09/2007 14:18

Agghhh to selling houses... the whole thing drives me mad. Apparently we should have exchanged and completed by the end of the month - praying that this is the case as am beginning to get a little behind with things, so need to step it up a little.

MamaMaiasaura · 11/09/2007 14:23

lilyloo - glad your dd enjoyed preschool what a milestone eh? Also glad that they are sorting things out for your nan. They should give you some flowers etc too all the stress they have given you.

MrsBiscuit - loved your scan story (imagining a very very tall hubby looming in the corner of the room )

Spud - Great news about your scan too, well done for not finding out the sex.. me, I am just too darn impatient.

Barristermum - totally agree with you about internet dating as a single mum.

Becky - sorry having tough time with moving. We are preparing to get ours on the market. Seems very very daunting.

MRsMcJnr - you so so deserve a whole packet of choccy biscuits for your marathon update!

I have had such a busy day but not got much done iykwim.

Right - scoreline remains Awen - 6 Mice - 0 which is good and no evidence of the little blighters.

Have had a good old cry as spoken to hospital re ds's tonsillectomony and adeniods out and they have booked him in for 25th Sept so soon! Better sooner I guess but DP will be in Japan for the whole of those 2 weeks too. Although he is not ds's dad they are very close. I am also very frightened about it all. Feel really stupid (am crying again - must be hormones). Totally irrational etc but I dont want ds to have a GA or be in any pain.

Waiting for mw to call re message i left her and to re-arrange antenatal due to ds's op.

I have cried so much today and taking everyone the wrong way, paranoid the old PND is rearing its head. I know it is all hormonal but just feel a bit of a prat.
