Am going at my own pace too and just getting bits and bobs and not panicking - have rough idea of what to get. Decided will pack my hospital bag at 37 weeks when I start my ML.

Angechica · 02/10/2007 12:17

Hi all

Just had my 25 wk appt with m/w today and my urine sugar level was +2.

Get this - I have to avoid all cakes, chocolate, sweets, biscuits etc for a week and go and get retested next week!

If level still up they will give me the glucose tolerance tests for gestational diabetes.

Has anyone here had this before?

I'm not unduly concerned yet but I'm in a bit of shock - I wouldn't say I had a sweet tooth particulary and I think DH and I eat quite healthily - but I have been merrily going about eating anything I please - "because I can" ...

Amani · 02/10/2007 12:17

Right - going to try and do a new thread with Awens suggestion....

sabinar · 02/10/2007 12:18

Sideways - we're staying here when we're in Barcelona later in the month. I'm really looking forward to it!

We're trying to sneak in as many little holidays as we can before LO arrives, however this might be the last flying one. (I have to fly to Berlin for a conference in early November, but not sure how much later after that we can push it!). I was reading about a train and ferry trip that you can do to Amsterdam that sounds fun too!

Desperately making the most of being childless for as long as it lasts (not to say that we're not looking forward to LO being here... it will just be all so different!)

I had another pilates class this morning. Is anyone else doing pregnancy pilates? I'm really enjoying it and finding it really beneficial. I'm going to start doing some pregnancy yoga this weekend too.

Hi BIRDS

I share the BF'ing in public sentiment - not keen at all. A friend has reassured me that all you need to do is have a blanket at an angle so no one can see. However i'll still feel like i've got my boobs out in public. So i thought what about just expressing milk with my lovely looking (not) breast pump and using that for when out and about? Surely if a baby's hungry it won't mind if it's from a nipple or a bottle. I'm going to be living with my family and want them to get involved and feed the baby with breast milk, so using both methods seem fine don't they?

As for the anti milk formula/bottle brigade - they should just sod off with their opinions. Breast is best is just too vague a notion. A distressed mother is not best for a baby.

If i can't do the bf'ing thing I will not beat myself up about it. Being a good mother is not restricted to breastfeeding!

My boss is ratty today. Everything is 'everyone's fault' so i challenged him and said who do you mean by everyone? And he backed down. I'M NOT BEING HENPECKED AT WORK! GRRRRRRRRR

I have 9 weeks still to go before ML, which is 28 actual days. And 12 weeks for baby to turn up. Hurray for escaping from the office. I am pretty certain i won't come back here again - I'm actually emptying my desk right now of all non essential things!

mixedmama · 02/10/2007 12:28

Neuro - I think BF is better established if you dont mix feed, I did this and I think amongst a million other things was another reason for my failure at feeding, but if you feel that is what is right for you then go for it. I think the advice is for the first month or so not to mix feed so the baby is established at BF IYSWIM.

Neuro · 02/10/2007 12:31

Ah so i could breastfeed solely for say a month or two, and THEN use breastmilk in bottles? And so get a break/involve family

gingeme · 02/10/2007 12:38

Morning ladies. Awen Im so glad to hear your ds is drinking now. Hope this is a good sign of things to come. Ds fell asleep on the sofa last night at 6. Dh put him to bed where he slept till 11. I gave him some Calpol and put him in my bed for a cuddle. About half past I put him back where he slept till 6am. More Calpol then slept till 8.
Hes doing well with eating again today too which Im very pleased about. He felt bean moving about this morning. He said 'is baby saying hi?'. I said yes and its wishing you better to which he smiled.
Not doing much again today. Got a couple of bags in the shed of clothes to sort through. Not baby clothes this time but clothes for ds4 as he doesnt seem to have any pyjamas.
Re breast feeding. Dont beat yourself up if you don't want to do it and don't listen to anyone else. Its your baby, your body and entirely up to you.
Have a good day ladies xx

I'm off to join Amani and MM on new thread ....

anywayup · 02/10/2007 12:44

feel that i have to address some of the assumptions on this thread

we do not have clothes budgets because we odn't buy new clothes unless we need them - i own one pair of jeans and am wearing shoes that are 3 years old at the moment - but if jeans or shoes wear out i will buy thme - in a similar vein dont' have a mke-up budget

we don't go out often because we can't afford to, probably once every 3 months and then we go to cinema and take stuff in with us, we take kids for a meal out once every couple of months the rest of the time do the free stuff with the picnics

we are not rich, we should be ok off if we stick to budget - we hve been sticking to budget for 4 years and in the last year things have slipped so that we're dipping into savings - one big thing that has changed is that we had a summer holiday because we felt that after 5 years we should take the kids away - things went wrong after that - our idea of who we were changed

anywayup · 02/10/2007 12:45

sorry wrong thread

efmc · 06/10/2007 19:19

hi everyone - sorry i've not been around for ages.

had to have an amnio, but everything turned out ok and am having a boy! new due date given and it's now 31st january - again!!! LOL!

how's everyone doing then? i'm absolutley shattered, but i think that's 'normal' and back and hips ache, but again, 'normal'. so i guess i could say everythings ok!

fluffymummy · 08/10/2007 13:53

hi girls, hope everyone is well...I've been off MN for about 2 weeks (1 week in Glasgow for work, 1 week in Italy for fun) so don't stand a snowballs chance in hell of ever catching up.... Any chance of someone providing a brief update at some point?!!

All good with me, I've finally told work I'm pregnant - in general it wasn't too much of a shock as even with careful dressing they'd sort of noticed I'd put on a little weight over the past few weeks...although they were a bit stunned that I was already 23 weeks!

I think this has been covered already, but can anyone recommend a good winter coat solution?
Hugs to all,
FM xx

katyt1 · 17/10/2007 10:21

Hi all,

sorry not been in absolutely ages, so no chance of catching up either - an update of any news would be great!

i've ordered a winter fleece coat thing from jojomamanbebe as i got sooo fed up of wearing my normal (obv too big!) fleece last time round. it hasn't arrived yet so can't tell you if it's a good idea yet!.

all well with me, 26weeks now, got the usual aches and pains like everyone.

seeing midwife tomorrow, haven't seen anyone in ages so looking forward to that. hope to agree on actual due date between my dates and the hosp.

hope everyone is ok, will try nad read through the more recent posts,

FrankAwenstein · 17/10/2007 11:53
