OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Amani · 01/10/2007 11:07

cazzybabes - know that feeling about making things really now that I've started buying too. Feeling inspired by Mixedmama too and started to buy a few bits for hospital bag - just breast pads and cotton wool though!

MrsBiscuit · 01/10/2007 11:18

Hello everyone,

MomBanks ? can fully sympathise on the JLewis experience ? I stupidly decided to take a trip to Oxford Street on Saturday to have a look/feel of nursery furniture. What a nightmare ? I?d forgotten how busy it gets. Only been out of London for 6 months and already I feel like it?s a different world.

Beller and KarenLouise ? no sleep for me either, so have been particularly grumpy recently. I?m a real 8 hours a night person ? not sure how I?m going to cope in January. I think I?m going to treat myself to one of those gliding chairs ? anyone else have one?

Awen ? hope ds gets better.

Can someone tell me what size clothes to get ? should it be newborn or 0-3 months?

Neuro · 01/10/2007 11:21

How many nappies would i need for say two days in hospital? (I am getting bag things ready too)

MrsBiscuit · 01/10/2007 11:23

Oh, just seen how silly that last question looks - what I meant is, is it best to buy very little newborn stuff. How long to they fit into it? - I'm slightly confused because of the long legs that showed up in the scan.

Neuro · 01/10/2007 11:24

This is my list for the baby in hospital - have i missed anything off it?

∑ Nappies
∑ Cotton Wool Balls
∑ Going home outfit
∑ Blanket
∑ Sheet
∑ 4 body suits
∑ 4 vests
∑ Warm cardigan
∑ Scratch mittens
∑ Hat
∑ Margarine container to put water in to wash them
∑ Car Seat (this will be brought to the hospital, i won't carry it around with me!)
∑ Feeding bottles + emergency formula milk (in case can?t breastfeed)

Thanks

mum2bejan · 01/10/2007 11:30

I hadn't even thought of feeding bottles and emergeny formula milk for the hospital. I just assumed the hospital would provide that if I couldn't bf?
Some of you are so organised. I really haven't thought too much about it all yet. See... I am a bad Mummy already!

Amani · 01/10/2007 11:32

am sure they provide formula in hospitals (mine did anyway in disposable steralised bottles).

Amani · 01/10/2007 11:34

i bought 0-3mths which at the time when DD was born (weight 6lbs) looked big on her, but she quickly fit into it in a couple of weeks.

Neuro · 01/10/2007 11:36

i'll take emergency forumla off my list then. Good! One less thing to buy...

Cazzybaby · 01/10/2007 11:42

AHHHHHH stop scaring me by talking about hospital bags!!!!
How long is the hospital stay these days?? I was hoping to be in and out in a day??

Neuro · 01/10/2007 11:45

NO CAZZYBABY BRING IT ON! I'm bored of pregnancy...i can't sleep, so might as well be not sleeping because a small person is keeping me awake.

I am hoping for a 'non-crying one' as a friend calls babies who don't cry much

Cazzybaby · 01/10/2007 11:47

Hmmmm a non-crying one, that sounds good to me too. Do they do none-constantly-pooing ones too????

Amani · 01/10/2007 11:48

I wanted a short and sweet stay but ended up staying for 4 days due to high b/p

Neuro · 01/10/2007 11:48

Where is Beller today? Are you lurking Beller?

I keep dreaming about meeting a new boyfriend and having lovely kissing and sex .

And then i wake up....and think oh, how boring I am on my own. But then feel glad no one can see me heaving myself off the bed!

Neuro · 01/10/2007 11:49

Did anyone see Celebrity Wife Swap last night - the talk of non-crying and non-pooing babies just jogged my memory.

Cazzybaby · 01/10/2007 11:50

I missed it was that the one with Pete Burns is that his name?? The man / woman?

susiemj · 01/10/2007 11:54

Morning all!

How funny that so many of us are experiencing, and even weirder, doing things at the same time as each other. I too find it very difficult to sleep (partly because still have hyperemesis - boo - getting distinctly tedious). I too have been packing my hospital bag. Have any of you been reading the 'top tips' thread under 'pregnancy'. It is ace. If you haven't already, check it out.

Ditto on the 'how many nappies' question neuro asked.

Mrs Biscuit - I have bought 3 slepsuits / vests in newborn size and think I'll try and mix them up with 0-3. Have really no idea though! DH was 12lb when he was born, so I may have a tiny giant!

Neuro · 01/10/2007 11:55

Yup.
It was actually rather sweet. Pete Burns was much more down to earth than i expected.
Razor Ruddock and his page 3 missus - so stereotypical that they were parodies of what you'd expect. Err is that what i mean to say? Anyway, it was good i thought and no nastiness, which i expect disappointed the producers.
I would like Pete Burns boyfriend as my gay boyfriend (in non fag hag way though). He was brilliant! And they have a lovely flat.

Cazzybaby · 01/10/2007 11:57

Was he good with the baby?? I can remember him from celeb big brother where he had that coat made from a monkey!

Neuro · 01/10/2007 12:14

He seemed to be better than the actual father!

But the best thing about him was that despite him being the more high maintenance one in his own relationship and at home, he saw straight away that Razor Ruddock's marriage desperately needed some attention.

Ruddock looked ill though. Sort of wrong somehow. Bloated and boozy and sweating looking. His wife and Pete's husband (!) made a really cute couple though.

beller · 01/10/2007 12:18

Im here Neuro! Did say mng...but was AGES ago hahaha

Im going out for dinner with a man on friday!!!!!!! He is a friend, met him in Ibiza on a yoga holiday 2 years ago...we have kept in touch and see each other every now and then...Nothing has ever happened, although he has started putting kisses on the end of his mails and texts! He is nice...not my usual type, he is blond haired and blue eyed..but nice to have some male attention! Maybe it would be a good start moving away from my normal type!

Mrsbiscuit - My sister bought some newborn stuff and never got to wear any of it (baby not her!) as he had big feet and didnt fit, so maybe 0-3? Unless nearer the time they say your expecting a small baby?

Although still planning my home birth, I will pack a bag just in case...think my sister is secretly hoping i change my mind! hahaha

Pants alot of us are sleeping badly! Although nice to have people in similar position to talk to! x

mixedmama · 01/10/2007 12:29

Re: Nappies for hospital Neuro, I would just take a whole small pack of newborns. They are not huge and you dont know how long you will be in altho I doubt you will use them all.

In terms of stay, it depends. I am hoping to go home within 6 hours if i can manage the breastfeeding by myself. they said i could go home last time then DH chipped in that it would be good to stay so was there for 2 nights... wasnt pleased, but not altogether unpleasant and as Amani said could be longer.

I went to matalan at the weekend to get some cheap button up nighties for feeding £4 - £7 bargain. Altho bought some pyjamas that i wore last night and woke up in the night with all the buttons completely undone... DH joked it was him, but I suppose they were a fiver so cant complain.

mixedmama · 01/10/2007 12:29

Beller - very exciting about your dinner.

Amani · 01/10/2007 12:44

MM - you're a bit quiet today

gingeme · 01/10/2007 12:48

Good afternoon ladies. Ds didnt have too bad a night. He woke at 2am for some Calpol and a drink. Went back to sleep then woke again about 6am Calpol and a drink and went back to sleep till about 8. Hes doing well today. Had breakfast and lots to drink. Just had some iced gems so I think the pain relief is working well.
Pack a whole pack of newborn nappies. Just a tip Tesco own nappies are just as good as Pampers and literaly half the price.
If all goes well you are allowed to go home 6 hours ish after baby arrives.
Awen hows your ds today? I was thinking about you this morning.
Pack a variety of sizes re babygros and vests. I dont think any hospital provides formula now. I got a letter from my hospital saying theyve stopped to promote breast feeding.
Well Im going to wake dh up now as hes on nights this week and wanted to be woke at 1.
Have a good day all.
