Me too

ejt1764 · 14/09/2007 16:19

Got it in tablet form from the health food shop down the road ... didn't take it with ds - have only started taking it today as acupuncturist suggested it ...

will keep you updated ... (everything'll probably slow down and stop now!)

lisad123 · 14/09/2007 16:31

Just a quick post from me. MW came this morning as agreed, all is well with BP and protein so hopefully no more trips to hospital till appointment on weds, unless this little lady decides to come.

I pottered today, put my dinner in slow cook, hmmm smells lovely and saves me trying to cook with Tanisha under my feet. I had a quick tidy round.
I have also started my rasberry leaf, but doing tablets as the tea taste horrible. They can set off cramps and contractions as they basicly exserise your womb and cervix, so is meant to make things easier. It isnt linked with causing labour to start, is my understanding. I got mine from health food shop.
Im glad some of us are feeling better, although all those that are sleeply, i hope your holding out ok.

Floria, thinking of you hun, hope your ok.

hugs

sorry to hijack - Lisad just happened upon your message. DS (14months) was born by emergency section at 32+2 after 2 weeks in hospital with pre-eclampsia.

just wanted to say that whatever they need to do will be best for you and lo, and to try and stay calm and smiling through it all. really really really don't mean to sound patronising and i'm sure i do .

it can be a really worrying time but i found reading really helped as it allowed me to switch off from the high bp etc

not sure any of that came out well but fingers crossed for you in any case - hopefully you can see what im' trying to say iykwim!

lisad123 · 14/09/2007 17:07

Hi Jacob

I spent 6 weeks in hospital last time with high BP, and ended in Emergency Section too. Its been fairly low for most of this pregnancy, so only started to go up this week and a one off a few weeks back.
Thanks for the advice, I generally do take a book with me when im at hospital, it saves me getting worked up about them running late
I have a number of other complications but am hoping BP doesnt become one this time, but understand what you mean about staying calm, thanks
Lisa

jacobandlysette · 14/09/2007 17:15

Hi Everyone - haven't had time to read everyone's posts today as I've just got back from work and am going out for a meal in a bit so need to beautify a little! Just wanted to say that I am now officially on maternity leave! I can't believe it's finally here - HURRAH! Was so touched by everyone at work - got loads of fantastic goodies and cards and good wishes so have left with a warm glow of contentment.

jersey · 14/09/2007 19:40

Hi, glad to hear things settled down WTP. J20 self inducement with me is sex!! which triggered 2 practise runs with DS2 and last night led to contractions every ten minutes. Unfortunatley they didn't continue. Nothing else seems to work. Have been crampy on and off today but nothing like contractions. Baby feels very heavy and low so maybe it is all helping.

I've been trying to finish the decorating today but the smell made me feel ill so had to stop part way up the stairs.

Also our wedding aniversary today but no one else seems to have remembered. Going to have a glass of wine now as feel the need !

Hope everyone is ok.

lisad123 · 14/09/2007 19:46

I was gonna post this joke on here but then rememebered none of us are having to go to the trouble of periods right now , see there are good points. hehe
Is funny though, if you fancy a laugh link is www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1375/388624?rnd=1189795409389

jersey · 14/09/2007 19:56

Very funny joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Has to be a man .

ejt1764 · 14/09/2007 20:13

well, all seems to have calmed down ... am just feeling very sick right now ...

ChocolateHobnob · 14/09/2007 20:21

Who's going to be next?! Ejt? Floria? Lisa? Buffy? Winnie? Has anyone heard from Winnie this afternoon?

Exciting stuff!

Lisa, glad you're okay today and good you have a few days off the hospital. Floria, sympathies on the anniversary of your father's death. Hope you managed to negotiate seeing your family at some point. And a pain about the BP preventing you from going to the funeral.

I had coffee with Alice this afternoon - wasn't meant to last as long as it did - we just kept on nattering! Oops. She's gone to a wedding for the w/e (cue finding out where all the nearby hospitals are in case her lo decides to make an appearance!).

We've put up the frieze in lo's room - it looks fantastic - and DH has put up the cot. We also got a Moses basket today... and more little bits for lo's room.

Tomorrow we have an NCT class all day. I must admit I'm sort of wondering why I paid to spend my Saturday hearing about labour again (I'm horribly squeamish!!!) but I guess it'll be okay.

Hope you're all doing as well as poss and looking forward to updates! Specially from those of you on the raspberry leaf tablets...

unicorn · 14/09/2007 20:35

Hi all,
Can someone tell me when this pre birth surge of energy is supposed to happen - as it is most definately not happening here!

Good news that many of the ailments/worries are calming (the calm before the storm?!)

Still haven't got names sorted here...hoping it will be obvious when lo appears!

Keep well everyone.

xx

orangecat · 14/09/2007 21:05

Hey all

Every time I catch up on posts, I think we're a right bunch. Is there anybody on here who is having a straightforward pregnancy?!

Lisa - gosh, sounds like you've been having a 'mare but so glad things have settled down now.

And Buffy, Floria & Mump, hope you're all feeling ok.

Mrs F - sorry about bad dream

WTP and ejt - gosh, while both false alarms, can't be far away now. How exciting. I'm still feeling like birth is ages away, presuming that I will be late again as I was last time. I'm sort of hoping for LO to decide to come early, late pg isn't very nice now, is it

Apricott - glad you no longer have low placenta

J20 - big congrats on DD's award

Agree with all on amenity room - will def. be requesting one too. The thought of being on a ward again is the biggest factor behind me having wanted a home birth. After being awake in labour for 48 hours, not being able to sleep on a ward was a 'mare.

On the subject of dreams, I have a wierd one for you. I dreamt that Tony Blair bit me on the bum, to which I retorted 'how dare you, I'm pregnant'. I said I was going to report him, and spent the rest of the dream trying to escape from his special agents and hiding out at Buckingham Palace. Wonder what all that means??!!

Nothing else exciting to report from me. Slowed down with the nesting over the last few days, although the urge came back again today. I have compiled a massive list of the stuff I can't do myself for poor DH. He has a work thing tonight, so will be confronted by a demanding, nesting wife heralding a list in his poor hungover face.

Hope everybody has a restful night tonight.

WinnieThePooh · 14/09/2007 21:36

Evening everyone,

I am feeling much better today, no back ache which iis good as DP and I are off to Kettering for the day tomorrow. Will be putting the bags in the car and making sure that I have my notes with me

j20baby · 14/09/2007 22:48

evening people

am swollen up like shrek so find it hard to type, also have been drinking an energy drink today and feel a bit funny, like i can't concentrate properly or relax, so i'm just popping on to say hi and will read through properly tommorrow.

love to you all

j20baby · 15/09/2007 04:22

morning, up early again.

got toothache today so got up for paracetomol and hot water bottle, also dd just got in my bed and i accidently poked her in the eye, so i've come down to escape from her for 5 minutes!

not much activity on here last night!

j20baby · 15/09/2007 04:27

ah-it seems i have the pleasure of dd's company downstairs now!

rather too lively for my liking!

TheLadyEvenstar · 15/09/2007 06:51

Morning all,

Just a quicky from me as I am going to head back to bed to try and get a bit more sleep lol. I am finally online in new flat which means I am happy to stay here and don't have to traipse back and forwards to old place with quilt and pillows lol.

J20, Sorry you have a toothache i have had one for last couple of weeks but thats cos lo is draining all my calcium and my teeth are breaking, dentist can't do anything until I have had him grrrrrrrrrr so I have to deal with the pain.

Sister and nephews came to new place yesterday was total mayhem with 3 little boys in here lol....9 ds, 7 eldest nephew and 4 youngest. I had been to collect fisher price aquatic bouncer seat I have bought for £10 along with another 2 bags of clothes which include a brand new Lonsdale tracksuit 0-3 months, reebok trainers and a Dior cardy which cost £40 all for another £10. I should say that about 3 months ago sis, bil, dp and I fell out and have not spent anytime together since. But after going to hers 2 nights ago we discovered the main reason we fell out was about a but of stirring our mum had done....... still trying to figure that out!!!!! Sis and I had a chat 2 nights ago and found out from eachother that there was no reason for us all to be arguing and now we have decided to book a holiday next year for all of us.

Lisa,
We will hopefully be bringing Alfie Wednesday, depends on money situation. We preferably would have brought him this evening or tomorrow evening but we are so skint it is unbelievable....so unless your dh can come and get him we have to hope landlord doesn't force entry before wednesday!!!! which I have a feeling they will try and do. they are such assholes!

Was funny when sis was here last night she was saying "oh you can never have too many baby clothes" then looked in wardrobe where I have lo's and said "on second thoughts yes you can" lmao I have so many it is mental but i am in a silly mood and end up getting the clothes cos they are so cute. Also have a cot bed to collect from freecycle today it is only about 6 minutes away from where we are living now so dp will get home and we will go almost straight away to collect it. Now I don't know whether to leave crib set up in living room for lo to have naps and set cot up in bedroom or leave cot dismantled and leave crib set up in bedroom where it is!????? Oh gawd decisions decisions.

Anyways I think I shall head back to bed and try for another hours sleep, am only up cos dp had to go to work and I had to lock door behind him....must get other key cut this week.

j20baby · 15/09/2007 09:50

hi all

hi LES, i'm just as bad with lo's clothes, i've got nowhere to put them all.

am in agony with teeth, despite taking 2 lots of co-codomol within less than 4 hours, it just will not ease, also slathering on sore mouth gel, meant to be every 3 hours but it wears off after about 10 mins, anyway, managed to get a emergency appointment at dentist for 3 pm, so will see what i say, but its the same problem that i've had all the way through the pg, that i've had 2 lots of AB for as i can't work out if its my teeth, ears or sinus's, feels like my teeth today though. sorry for the moan, but so tired and in pain, i'm feeling sorry for myself and dd is annoying me!

hope everyone had good nights sleep's

ChocolateHobnob · 15/09/2007 18:13

Hi all - quiet here today!

Orangecat, I had to laugh at your dream! Wonder what subliminal message that was sending!

J20, sorry about the toothache. I've had an easy pregnancy, but the worst part was the first trimester, partly due to the sickness but also toothache. I had horrendous tooth problems and had to see an emergency dentist to have the nerve removed from the tooth; I've seen my own dentist three times since. Toothache has been the main pain of this pregnancy for me and I wholeheartedly sympathize with you!

LES, sorry about your toothache too. Glad the fall-out has been resolved in the family - you can do without family feuds at the mo!

Had 6 hours of NCT class today. It was good to meet people, and I'm glad we signed up, but I really found the content overwhelming (again). I'm no good at antenatal classes and touchy-feely activities. I burst into tears as soon as we got into the car to come home - how sad is that?! Anyway I'm making homemade burgers for dinner and there's the X factor, and I've had a nice bath, so am feeling less hormonal now.

Hope all of you are having a good w/e!

j20baby · 15/09/2007 18:19

Choc-6 hours is a bloody long time!!

well, apparantly there is nothing wrong with my teeth, its the muscle or bone in my cheek, the one that i got ab's of gp for last time, so it seems i'm just going to have to deal with it, don't know how though.

my friend got me some rapspberry leaf tea and tablets, so i took 2 tablets while drinking the tea, nothing's happened though, think i was expecting a miracle induction through tea!

hope your all ok, i'm on my own tonight so will probably have a nice bath and hopefully an early night.

hope everyone is ok

muppetgirl · 15/09/2007 18:46

Weellll

What an eventful fri night we had!!

Our neighbour babysat so dh and I could go out for a meal. We did it was lovely (i had rare steak naughty, naughty!) when we got back I asked dh to check on Ollie as we always do before bed and he woke up screaming clutching his tummy saying aw, it hurts!!
We calpol 'ed' him and it didn't help so we took him to a&e which now seems like a massive over reaction but I had my appendix out at 5 so was worried about that.
He was screaming in a&e right up until the nurse came to assess him. He then calmed down totally. We waited 1 1/2 hrs and were seen by a lovely dr who couldn't examin him properly as he started screaming agin vut did say his tummy wasn't hurting...

We've had a very tired day as we got back at twenty to one this morning...

Sil spoke to dh today and asked if she and her dp could come and stay 10/11 th nov. Henry will either be around 3 weeks or possibly 5 days old. I had to veto that. I don't want to make plans for anyone to stay until he has at least been born. Better than fil though who asked if we knew when lo would be born???????

My friend Mrs Threads who was prgt (april 2008 thread) had her 10 week scan and was told that she had miscarried so that's 2 miscarriages and an ectopic pgcy in 10 months So I feel really upset for her and her lovely hubbie (my hubbies best man and Ollie's godfather) they would be such lovely parents.

Hope all are well, haven't read all yet but will do now so will reply later

Hi all,
sorry about your pal muppetgirl- really sad news.
re Oliie, don't worry about over reaction - nhs direct sent out an ambulance for ds one night because of tummy pains.... which turned out to be.... very bad constipation
Anyone read this article?
It took me back to my last birth (ds was an emergency home birth - but luckily midwife and crew arrived in time phew!)
home birth

ambulance crew asked dh if he could see head (meaning babies - he said yes.. meaning mine!!!)

Hope all having nice weekend.
xx

nellieloula · 15/09/2007 19:16

Hello everyone - hope you've all had good days. Muppet- you must be shattered. Hope Ollie's ok and your friends too - that is so tough. thinking of them. J20, hope the tooth is ok.

Choc, if it is any consolation, everyone in my NCT class for DS1 had exactly the same reaction as you as soon as they got in their cars/home too. Very normal I think - it's extremely intense and concentrated, but is def worth it for the network you'll make.

Floria, hope you're ok today and that you got through yesterday.

hope things aren't too uncomfrtable for ejt, lisa and winnie - any progress? and hope the maternity break is going well Collywobbles.
and a big hello to everyone else.

I had a crap night sleep (thanks to DS's bad dreams and DH's incessant snoring - what the hell can you do about that??) and then a horrible day - so I am one happy bunny We went to Ikea to get organising things etc and DH, who is extemely tired and I appreciate that, was in such a bad mood and then really snapped at me - so I ended up crying all the way home. Nice. He just doesn't get how emotionally vulnerable pregnancy makes you; do any men I wonder??

So we need to talk about that tonight - joy

have a good evening everyone - alice hope the wedding's good fun.
